Yes, and the loss of her sister in 1926 followed by the death of her admired Mauritz Stiller 1928, was very traumatic for her. He, more or less created Garbo and brought her with him to Hollywood. He was the one that Louis B. Mayer wanted in the first place, but Stiller insisted on bringing Garbo as well. Sadly his time in Hollywood became a big failure, and he got fired. Instead his protegé became a great succes And she had to stay, when he went back to Sweden and died shortly after. I think she was tormented with this for the rest of her life.

She probably did not have bipolar disorder but a much milder form called cyclic mood disorder . I was diagnosed with it years ago . They often feel uncomfortable in crowds or with strangers but not really antisocial. They are disciplined and can be very creative. They like to keep their personal lives to themselves. They can be narcissistic and self involved at times especially when depression sets in for a while. They need to be in control of their physical space.

As audience members and people from the industry, we have a tendency to make actors, actresses, music artists, and models into idols that lack human experiences and emotions.This is really sad.
Thank you for this… I have been fascinated with her since my childhood when my father purchased a silkscreen done from the photograph (.. at 3:41) by one of Andy Warhol’s since famous screen artist assistants. It reminded him of my mother a blue eyed blonde of swiss heritage because my mother had her eyes. I am lucky to now have this in my home which is also fascinating to now move to the lovely Carmel~by~the~sea California and was built by 20th Century Fox Studios in 1920. It is the ‘pool house’ of the main house built at the same time up the hill a bit; however the pool has since been filled in and is our patio. When we moved in this painting was one of the first things I brought into the house.. I strangely said out loud… “Well now you are home Greta…, now you are home…” 💕🌌 and i paused because it really struck me the kind of coincidence that was to say and do. I think of her a lot here.. and do wonder if she ever set foot in this house. I am afraid of ghosts so please don’t ask me to try talking with her 😂
