Even though he was tugging at his muzzle when you were pulling the ear hairs out, you gave him a little hug and were so gentle with him. You recognized that it hurt and acknowledged it, and as a dog mom that’s how I would want my baby to be treated. You were so gentle even when he was agitated and even though this isn’t my dog, I appreciated it. Thank you for being so gentle with these angels. You’re the best, Dede!

Dede, what can I say...you know what you're talking about. Anyone who doubts that this woman is a professional, or the skills and knowledge that she has when it comes to grooming and animals in general, I can tell you, you're absolutely wrong. I spoke to her about my schnauzers ear which was puffy after I pulled hair. And the exact same thing happened to her that Dede is trying to prevent with this head wrap. Dede not only put my mind at ease, but she also suggested some things that I can try to help the issue and things to do to prevent it from happening in the future. Dede, you're an angel!! I truly truly adore and admire the work and the love you have for these animals. It's absolutely clear that your number one priority is that the dogs are happy, healthy, and comfortable. I am from the UK and I have no idea how I ended up with your channel on my list...I have a Tabby cat... I don't own a dog, nor have I since I was a child. We had a rescue dog, a Collie....who we very originally called Lassie.....I now have a rescue cat who is 15...
I am absolutely obsessed with watching you groom dogs and the occasional cat...
We used to take it in turn to brush Lassie's very long hair and we discovered by accident she loved to be vacuumed...the soft brush attachment used for dusting was perfect. She would just lay on the floor turning over when you touched her leg...when she'd had enough she rolled onto her back so you could do her underneath. Then bath time and a blow dry.
I think you are very talented and do an amazing job. Sorry I have been rambling on but I've watched dozens of your videos and thought it time I said how much I enjoyed them all. Thanks for sharing. X

We've visited the USA 🇺🇸 for holidays a few times and toured round Texas (well parts of it) once. I would love to visit again and call into your shop. I could buy presents for my Mum's dog and my Sister's dog, they both have a Shih Tzu.. I don't know why I am so fascinated with watching you groom...It took me a couple of months to get my cat Ringo to let me groom him. Little by little. I was very proud the day I just tapped the Comb on the floor and he came running for his daily brush without coaxing with the promise of a treat... I am rambling again but I have watched so many of your videos I think of you as a friend☺️
@ Rowena Wragg- May I echo that? I'm from the UK,had a collie cross for 18 yrs who loved being groomed just the same as yours ,including the vacuum at times and hairdryer.and now have a 12 yr old cat (both rescues) but she grooms herself and is a great mouser.I really admire DeDe,as she has the expertise and the compassion to do this job.She does it so well.I'm fascinated watching her- it's like shearing a sheep.Very satisfying getting these animals neat,clean and tidy.I'm sure they appreciate what she does for them.
Oh what a sweetie! We’ve never gotten a dog with a coat but we rescue instead. When we first moved to TX we had cocker spaniels with the feathers and everything and the first time they got out when we found them they were full of cockle burrs and fox tails. I couldn’t understand why the groomer insisted on brushing it out rather than giving us the puppy cut we asked for but watching you I understand better.

You can use the footage from the go pro, but overlay the audio from the regular camera if you need audio. I don’t know what editing program you use, but it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Hi Dede, did you know if the mom of Bruno washed him? It's pretty strange that a Lagotto get this matted even without brushing (this is still a very rural breed that don't need a loot of care). If you wash a Lagotto too often his fur react like wool washed with hot wather. My personal groomer teach this to me: don't wash your Lagotto, use a comb (not a brush) once a week. We took him yesterday for the summer cut and she complimented us because the fur was in good condition.
Since the winter's cut we only used soaked wipes now and then to clean him. Last weekend we took him to the sea and back at home we just flush his fur with warm water, without soap or anything.
I remember that my lagotto get very matted after we took him home because we washed him in the wrong way, you can't wash a lagotto if before you haven't brush him very carefully opening up every inch of his curly fur, the same proceeding must be done even after the bath when you dry him. Obviously if you shave him before the bath you can skip entirerly the pre-brushing.
However Lagotto can't be wash every month, they just need to be washed twice/three times a year, save in exceptional cases.
This is great advice. And the mistake we have made to with over bathing our lagotto. He got matted. But we’ve learnt and look after his fur properly now

The "pink thing" is a happy hoodie.. they're used to muffle sounds. They're especially good for dogs who are sensitive to the sound of a dryer. That dog probably would have let u dry it a bit more with it on. They're very effective. We use them on every single client..

Dogs shake their heads after having their ears shaved because they feel the air flow and they feel lighter or strange.. wearing the hoodie would help temporarily but as soon as it comes off it would do it at home probably. The swelling you were describe in the ears are hematomas. The ears fill with blood as they shake and the only way to fix is to drain with surgery.

Im getting a lagotto this summer but from what i have heard you only need to brush them every other day. Do you need to brush them every day? Does the brushing amount change as the lagotto gets older?
Hi Emilia - as far as coat change (ie. between 7-14 months) I'm not sure if Lagotto's are in the same boat as other water dogs, typically this is when the puppy coat sheds out so the adult coat can grow in. I always recommend brushing frequently during coat change so you can get all the soft puppy coat out and it won't get stuck in the coat and matt. Other than that Lagotto's are pretty easily maintained, just use a comb or rake to go through the entire coat every week to get out the loose hair and you should be good - their coats are technically low/non shedding but they still need to be brushed in order to keep them from getting matted.

Something I keep coming back to is the idea that it'd be a more humane and efficient option to fully immobilize the animal physically... like have the animal fully supported and immobilized, so that they're both comfortable physically while resting, and unable to do anything about it. It seems barbaric in isolation but in seeing the alternative, I'm not sure how it wouldn't be more humane and also much easier for the groomer to manage.
I can think of a few alternatives for design... seems totes doable. Probably wouldn't be able to accommodate a wide range of doggo sizes, but I figure common doggos fall within a pretty narrow range of sizes. Hm I wonder if this has been done already actually - might be some obscure setup =p

Dede I'm so distraught. My bichon was groomed two weeks ago ~ groomer said she scissor cut his claws (Lie) I just asked for a summer cut. Today I noticed blood scabs on both ears. Do I call our vet? Both are hard & scabbed. I'm beside myself xx

DeDe you did a great job. That was a hard job. I think we know why his tail was shaved it may have been matted bad. Oh love the ear sock I never saw that before great idea. I had a short haired dog that would shake and get huge hematoma wish I knew about this. Again great job. Your hand is looking better.
Joanne H alot of humane societies use socks to cover up insictions after they spay and neuter kittens so they don't lick the insiction so if you have any socks you don't use anymore your local humane society will take them off your hand if they have the space for them
