Those Haro's are sick! Super slack, really pretty bikes. This bike has been good to me but there are so many cool hardtails out there- hard to go wrong!
Yeah I hear you, but to be honest I have absolutely zero complaints with the fork. it's SUPER sturdy, and I've been able to tweak it to work really well for some gnarly stuff! LOVE the fork!
Good review. I'm looking into getting a HT for winter and the Roscoe has caught my eye. I fancy the 8 but then I look at the fork... It's well specced overall but Trek have stuck a crappy fork up front which lets down the whole of the bike. So I look at the 9 and then think it's just too expensive, plus I don't think that the SLX drivetrain is really an upgrade from SRAM GX / NX. I think if Trek had put the Fox 36 on the 8 and charged slightly more, this would have been a good choice. Maybe no need for the 9. It would be a good middle ground between both bikes and would sell well imo.
@@Usual_Goon I hear you man. From personal experience the Slx drivetrain is DIALED! Keep in mind it’s an xt rear derailleur- drivetrain is money, and much smoother than cable actuated nx or gx in my experience. Also, I hear you on the fork, but those 35mm rockshox forks have gotten a lot better over the years. Either way, you can find a last gen gx axs derailleur and shifter kit for “cheap” these days- spacing for the shimano and sram mtb 12 spd cassettes is the same, so you can upgrade the 8 or 9 to axs. Lots of fun ways to spend money!
Hey. I bought a Trek Roscoe 9 recently and was wondering what tires you have preferred to use on this bike? Just so you know, the trails I'll be using it on are intermediate level. Thanks
@@step1idiomas if you’re looking for flat out grip, throwing some maxis assegais on there is pretty unbeatable (I’d go something a bit less grippy in the back if possible so you can manage the rear end through berms etc. On intermediate trails you could find something faster rolling like a thunderburt (but would have to get a 2.35 as opposed to the 2.6s that come on the bike- also, those are much more puncture prone. I don’t love the XR4’s, but I’m keeping those on for now. When I wear them out I’m probably throwing on some maxxis 2.6’s- maybe assegai/dissector combo- but that’s for real techy stuff. Hope this helps!
I found a used one listed for $1800. The guy won't go any lower. Comes with Lyrik 150mm fork, raceface atlas cranks, schwalbe tires and some other goodies. Might pull the trigger. Other people are selling their stock Roscoe 9 for $2k 🤷🏼
😂@@ShotgunGaines71 can't argue with you there. Hardtail by a mainstream brand is almost sacrilege in some circles. That being said, it's good at everything if not great at any one thing. I hear Trek has touch-up paint if you want to murder it out, though!
I want a 9 but I personally don’t like the color. I know they’ve released a 6-7 but trek won’t tell me if they are releasing a 9. Do you have any idea if or when they will/ or usually release something like that!
Yeah I hear you! In some of the international markets the 9 came in a deep red, but I haven’t seen that available in the U.S. the new 6 and 7 color ways are AMAZING! Given they were released in December I’m not holding my breath anything new is coming down the pipeline- they aren’t big sellers in comparison to the lower spec models. Honestly, I’d go in the shop and ask if you could swap frames with a different model- maybe offer to pay the “bike build” fee of $75 or so. If it means they sell a 9, they may be open to it. Worth a shot!
@@JakeMyers23 that’s an interesting idea! Plus then a 6/7 would get a 9 frame which might be an easy sale for someone who likes those colors! Thanks! I may try that
They’re supposed to be specced with shimano deore, mine has TRP due to supply line issues… that being said I’ve been pleasantly surprised! Powerful brakes.
@@JakeMyers23 Oh I see, yeah that's what I thought might be the case. I bought mine a while ago during the Covid lockdowns and shortage of bikes, was waiting for months to get it.
I doubing now. The price here in the Netherlands went from 2750 to 2400 to 2000 euro now. Why are all roscoe cheaper now? Canyon stoic 4 is now from 1300 to 1750, only get expensiver. A roscoe 8 is cheaper now. A roscoe 9 is half the price of the 4000 Fuel Ex 8 with the same component. Is it 2x better then the Roscoe 9?
Great points! Trek has some backlogged inventory, I think that’s the reason for the price drops (that’s a win for the consumer)! Canyon recently updated the stoic and may have been able to offload last year’s inventory, so the combination of updated spec and a new model could explain the increase. If you order a canyon be sure to check the sizing- they run big. And as for the fuel ex being 2k more… I think that’s just due to its higher demand and cost of R&D. My advice- hard tails are AWESOME! Test ride that Roscoe 8 or 9 and get one at a great deal!
Hello was wondering if you could help with making my mind up if I should get. Large or xl bike I’m 6”3 and 35inseam ride around town with my son and his the odd trails with him looking at trek Roscoe 8
Heck yeah dude. I’d recommend the XL. If you were 6’1” or 6’2” it would be really tricky as you’d be right between sizes, but based on your measurements I’m leaning towards XL. That being said- if you can go to a shop and ride both you will quickly be able to see which you are more comfortable with. Make sure reach and saddle height are comfortable- shouldn’t be an issue with 35 inseam but worth test riding at a shop if you have the time!
@@Darkrider998 it’s a comfortable, durable, and bulletproof bike! Shouldn’t have any problems no matter the surface. It’s geometry is pretty slack so it sits you upright (not aero), and 2.6” tires aren’t the fastest, but that shouldn’t really be an issue. Fun bike that can handle anything you throw at it!
That’s a deal!! I wonder what the price of the 8 is now… main difference is the fork on the 9. Cool idea would be getting the 8 and upgrading to AXS with the money you save!
@@JakeMyers23 The 9 is: 1,930 USD, the 8 is: 1,737 USD. So I don't really see the point of getting the 8, don't you agree? Now, the 7 is: 1535 USD. A lot cheaper than the 9 but I feel that the 9 is suddenly very priceworthy. It's down from 2270 USD.
I don't know about overpriced. At the moment in the UK they can be had for £100 more than the 8. At £1350 it's an absolute bargain given the spec and possibly the best value "real" mountain bike on the market. Even at full RRP, the full suspension equivalents at the same price point are coming with pretty poor componentry and personally I'd much rather ride the XT hardtail with Fox 36's than a big heavy lump running SX and X-Fusion.
Love the bike but the paint work is terrible! Looks like they run out of good colours and made a mess with the splashed black paint. 0/5 for paint work!!
I’ve had mine about a year. I love it. Great review also
Thanks man! Yeah the bike is bombproof and a blast!
Roscoe 9 ordered today, £1495.00 uk. Thats around $1890.00. 😊
What a deal! Enjoy it dude!!

I bought the roscoe 7 this past Christmas for only $1200 and love it. I can only imagine how much better the 9 would be.
Roscoe 7 is a great bike as well.
Such a cool bike!!
I wish it had a Fox Factory fork. It’s a Rhythm.

@JakeMyers23 apparently they are being discontinued. Only small size is still available.
This bike needs more coverage... ITS A BANGIN DEAL and all the components can be transferred to a Frame up Full Squish build!
