So glad I've got a few pairs of the v1 to use. Got the v2 and v3, but the original is still the king. Crazy how most original versions are the best, a little like bands and debut albums.
I'm loving the Vaporfly 3. The roomier upper works for my foot shape and I enjoy the extra stability they have introduced. I might be fitter these days because my times in it are faster than what I posted in the earlier versions. In Australia we get a better deal as it only costs $330 RRP but you can usually find a retailer that offers a 15% off code so you pay around $280 AUD which is only around 145 pounds. And whenever you pay less for a shoe, you tend to overlook any minor negatives more so than if you fork out the full earth credits!
Would the Nike VaporFly 3 be good for indoor treadmill long distance running? I’m not an outdoor runner/racer. I have flat feet and tried the pair in the store but I wasn’t sure if they’re good for treadmill running.
@@simplymiya3820 Sorry, I'm probably not the best person to ask as I don't have a treadmill nor flat feet but hopefully someone out there is better placed to answer your question.
Do you use it for everyday runs ? Does the foam wear out fast? Reason i ask cos I own the vapor fly 1 and the Zoom X foam wears out easily after 4 months of run.....Not sure about VF3
I always preferred the VF over the AF in the Nike race shoe lineup. And with this latest version, I still do. Same great midsole, good outsole, better stability, roomier upper and extremely light weight. It remains my go to race shoe but the pack is closing. And yes, in my books, Asics Metaspeed Sky+ and Saucony Endorphin Elite are very close. For sheer performance, the ZoomX midsole remains top dog.

Thanks for this Edd. I picked up a pair of v2 for £145 instead of these. Happy with that choice. I’m not actually sure I’d race in the v2 but they’re good and reliable for speed work
Upon trying them on my foot, I could tell right away that it’s just lacking in a lot of ways.. going backwards. They had the original vaporfly nearly perfect. If they can just mimic that original vaporfly but with added stability (not as narrow in the midfoot), that would be the perfect shoe. I Started feeling like I was the only one who noticed that these aren’t great. I’m glad to see an honest review about these.
Your criticism of the upper is fair. I guess I have the ideal foot shape as I find the fit ideal for my foot, though I do get a little bunching at the base of the lacing (as you described). I too have also found the durability of the outsole to be very good and have almost the same observations as you do. However, I’m not finding the drop off in ZoomX like you are. If anything I’m finding it very consistent from first run. I’m approaching 100mi on my pair as well. In all honestly the whole ZoomX doesn’t last thing ended with the original Next% for me. The formulas we have now are very good, consistent and durable. Though I do agree Lightstrike Pro and FFTurbo both wear in and get better approaching 100mi and overall have better durability over longer ranges. Fair and balanced review. Great job as always!
Half size down fixed it for me and love it now like v1. v1 was a half size up 9.5 though, v2 TTS 9, and v3 down half a size 8.5. The midsole feels back on track with this one and not the firmer, stiffer, deader ride of v2. With the weight about the same as v3 and the sizing, it makes it the lightest for me too.
wish i saw this comment i should've went a half size down instead of up the toe area has too much wiggle room. weird how the sizing can change so much even between nike shoes.

Disagree about the ZoomX foam degrading. I have honestly felt no difference in my vaporflys up to around 700km. Above that I noticed it going off. In fact I set my 10k PB in a shoe that had 700km on it. Also had no problems with wear on the sole - even after using them off road on hard packed trails. V1 is still my favourite version of the shoe though.
I used to buy only Nike running shoes but things are changed. My latest Nike shoe with full zoomx midsole is streakfly and even though my wear pattern usually around midfoot-forefoot area zoomx foam started to break apart from heel area which doesn't make sense to me at all. At 50k it looked like a tiny cut, at 75k most of the medial side of the midsole was gone. I'm still in the first version and have had them 2 years and still have some good mileage to go with them. Ran London straight out of the box and saved my legs. I've recently started using the Adidas Pro 2's and are a lovely shoe but not stable. I twisted my foot in them badly on a fast corner. When I have to change again I'll have to have a think about it as there seems to be as good if not better shoes there now.
They stabilised the Adios pro in the v3. But lots of people didn’t want it! The v3 Vaporfly is an odd one. Different but not really much of an improvement.
@@EDDBUD Nike are strange anyway Edd, they often fix what's not broken or discontinue a good shoe like the pegasus turbo. Probably to do with marketing because people will still buy their over priced mediocre shoes.
I haven’t got the V3 but my V1’s are at 100 miles. Now are they as good as they were? I’m not sure but I have a new second pair which I may use this year. But I have the Metaspeed sky at 63 miles and the Adios pro 2 which got to 420 miles before I retired them. Also the Sen 8 at 250 miles. Now I would still choose the Vaporfly above all of them even at 100 miles old. The pro 2 was a good long run training shoe but not that fast and Metaspeed is fast but destroys my feet at any distance, at a push a half marathon but it’s too firm for anything more. The Vaporfly hits that sweet spot of being fast but comfortable enough for a marathon which the others don’t have.
After 3 VF versions, I returned the VF next 3. The toe box with the bulging material (due to the hard section between the first eyelids) didn't work for me, and the tongue is just weird with those completely unneccessary "wings". I just don't get it, the flyknit upper of the Epic React was just a piece of art, but this one....? 7:16
I’m having a nightmare, I’ve ordered v3 in 9 and 9.5. 9.5 gives me more toe box room but there’s heel slippage unless I use all the loopholes. 9 fits like a glove a lot secure but my toes do fill the toe box Would they get more loose with running? Should I stick with 9? I’ve always been a UK9 with Nike
I think the question to be asked is if you are trying to set a PB is this the shoe you are going to be using? Everything else is just so much toe jam in this discussion.
I'm looking for a pair of running shoes I will be using for my first marathon on Nov. 5. But with so many options available, I'm truly confused what to pick. I can only afford to buy one supershoe that's why I'm having a hard time making the decision to chose..
It’s very much down to what you want. Squash and cushion or something more responsive. The fuelcell shoes are amongst the squashiest. But lack the propulsion. The Vaporfly and Adios pro 3 amongst the best but don’t discount the endo pro 3 or Asics
Hey guys I am a new runner started a week ago went from 1km max distance to 3.5km now in a run 😂 I picked up an invincible 3 but I found it too soft and a little wobbly like it has no lean support if the road isn’t even like on grass… I am looking for a more sturdy shoe would this shoe be better ?
So should i get vaporlfys 2? Do you think that one wears down just as fast ? I’m in a rut.😞😞😞 i ahve a return policy, and can’t choose between the 3 or the 2. Pls help💔💔💔
😂 go on Ed, The big boys at Nike are to busy making colossal profits rather than thinking about us minions. Maybe that's the Nike master plan, Make them out of polystyrene so they won't last and the user has to find more tokens for a new pair 😂
All in all, concidering price, Vaporfly Next 2 , was my worst buy. No PBs in 5-21 K and useless for marathon for me. Never again. It was maybe because I should have bought half size down but I cant afford to buy the new one. It feels most like a half marathon shoe for me, but to unstable for marathon.
To me a step back from vaporfly 3 from 2. It just doesn’t feel like it’s well thought out. It’s not a shoe that has all you need but nothing else. It’s an unfinished product. Definitely a lot of shoes I will pull off the shelf first for run. 😢
How much break-in do they need if you’re not used to carbon plated shoes? I have a half in 3 weeks and think of doing an 18k long run with both easy pace and race pace as a break in. What do you recommend?
Sorry not in my experience. I had two pairs of Invincible v1 and both easily got to 500 miles. Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2 we’re done by 400. Snapped rod and valleys in the sole underneath the rods.

9.5 gives me more toe box room but there’s heel slippage unless I use all the loopholes.
9 fits like a glove a lot secure but my toes do fill the toe box
Would they get more loose with running?
Should I stick with 9? I’ve always been a UK9 with Nike
Either sock game to A level or switch up to a different model. The upper is weird on this one.
@@EDDBUD many thanks for such a quick reply, the 9 do feel tight, there’s definitely more room in the 9.5 - I think it’s getting a better sock
Hi edd which supershoe offers the most stability?
The Puma deviate nitro elite 2 or perhaps even the Adios pro 3
I think the question to be asked is if you are trying to set a PB is this the shoe you are going to be using? Everything else is just so much toe jam in this discussion.
Not sure I’ve set any in this pair!
We are spoiled by the number of great shoes to choose from. Consider ourselves fortunate for that.
Will Nike do a Vaporfly OG Retro Edition at some stage with upgraded rubber?
Now that would be a good seller!
Hey Edd, how d’you think the VF compares with the endorphin elite?
Not tried the elite. By the sounds of it it’s closer to the nitro / flytefoam turbo stuff
I think the big issue that people are having with the heel rubber is probably lack of quality control by Nike like we've seen with other Nike shoes
Some of the recent Jordan’s have been a roulette spin.
Got the Nimbus 25! Great shoe! 🎉
Good choice!
Are these shoes recommended for beginners or Nike invincible 3 a better option?
The invincible is really squashy and not stable at all. Neither are good for a beginner. I say go down the Pegasus or Vomero route.
@@EDDBUD thank you
I found a good price on them half size dawn on what im wearing should i get them?
Might be ok a half down
@@EDDBUDtxn you!
Is there any difference between men V3 and women V3 in terms of size?
Not sure if this was a unisex release
Hey guys I am a new runner started a week ago went from 1km max distance to 3.5km now in a run 😂
I picked up an invincible 3 but I found it too soft and a little wobbly like it has no lean support if the road isn’t even like on grass… I am looking for a more sturdy shoe would this shoe be better ?
This is still soft. Grab the Pegasus or Vomero 17. Bit more resilient and stable
@@EDDBUD thanks mate, appreciate the feedback! There are so many shoes out there it’s confusing haha
So should i get vaporlfys 2? Do you think that one wears down just as fast ? I’m in a rut.😞😞😞 i ahve a return policy, and can’t choose between the 3 or the 2. Pls help💔💔💔
The 2’s on discount are a good bet.
@@EDDBUD I’m getting the return and the shoes r sadly 250 on my size
😂 go on Ed, The big boys at Nike are to busy making colossal profits rather than thinking about us minions. Maybe that's the Nike master plan, Make them out of polystyrene so they won't last and the user has to find more tokens for a new pair 😂
The foam isn’t actually that different to polystyrene!
🤔 £235ish We'll be running in big squishy open toe sandals next
Flight Foam Turbo also gets better with time.. Puma nitro ❓
Yeah I agree on the Asics foam. The Puma stuff is good too
Still very firm at 63 miles
Nice!🎉
Thanks for the visit
All in all, concidering price, Vaporfly Next 2 , was my worst buy. No PBs in 5-21 K and useless for marathon for me. Never again. It was maybe because I should have bought half size down but I cant afford to buy the new one. It feels most like a half marathon shoe for me, but to unstable for marathon.
Any footage of the 100m run?
It’s at 100 miles of use
Rocket X2 it is then!
Love that Hoka.
To me a step back from vaporfly 3 from 2. It just doesn’t feel like it’s well thought out. It’s not a shoe that has all you need but nothing else. It’s an unfinished product. Definitely a lot of shoes I will pull off the shelf first for run. 😢
Ouch!
Doesn’t quite cut it for me
The toe box is so strange soo much room omg
Yes very baggy
How much break-in do they need if you’re not used to carbon plated shoes? I have a half in 3 weeks and think of doing an 18k long run with both easy pace and race pace as a break in. What do you recommend?
Yes that’s about what you need. Most feel good out the box.
Is Edd Bud out of earth credits? 😂 I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say you used your own money.
Really? You should watch more of my videos. I have spent thousands on shoes.
@@EDDBUD I know. What I meant was that I’ve never actually heard you use the term money or cash it’s always earth credits.
It was just weird hearing you say money. I appreciate your reviews keep up the good work.
@@robruns262 Ahhh right on! Yes occasionally I remember it’s proper money. Some of these shoes are crazy money right now. Thanks for tuning in

Sounds ideal for slim feet with bunions. For a friend. 👀
Hi
🥉
Adidas gets better and better.. The outsole will die before the midsole.. Nike goes down hill from day one.
The adidas outsoles even improve too
Sorry not in my experience. I had two pairs of Invincible v1 and both easily got to 500 miles. Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2 we’re done by 400. Snapped rod and valleys in the sole underneath the rods.
Yo!
woodchuck
Vaporfly 2 > 3, the 3 lost it's aggression
Yes seems less up for it now
