After your initial review, I thought "well another Nike hater whatever... shoe tubers". But you proved you really do review the shoes. Magnificent work 👍
I don't really think any shoetuber hates Nike, maybe people hate not good enough and expensive products coming from the brand and we've seen that a lot during the years from Nike.
@@justoutlaw6423 Nike is a typical American business thirsty for profit, the way they are positioning their product as at least one step price above making them an easy target for bashing. But that does not necessarily make Nike products below average quality within one category. I have bought numerous shoes from Nike, New Balance, Puma, Hoka, Salomon, Adidas, Reebok in the last two years (my hobby); and I found a lot of praised shoes from well-known shoe tubers are quite below the consistent quality of Nike alternative. Of course, running shoes is a highly personal perspective. I think, to find an authentic shoe tubers opinion on running shoes and avoid paid media is difficult these days.
I used to only buy Nike. Now, I wouldn't touch em with a barge pole. My first and favourite STILL is the vastly overlooked lunarepic sock boot fing. Absolutely glorious. Been a steady decline since 2020. Sure, you can pull out an AF with a perishable outsole, but what else they got? All dull, limp and drab.
@@missbutts85 I’m very impressed so far. Though I can’t even suggest it’s not a big purchase! Crazy price and a shoe I have cleaned and really taken time to keep as good as possible.
@@EDDBUD yeah if I do get them I’m only wearing on speed training and races. I have invincible run 3s for easy runs and long runs. I have 3 pairs of those but I caught them on sale for $70 each at a Nike clearance store
Only two runs in, 13 miles, and I’m absolutely loving it. Very comfortable and back to the bounce. If I could train with these all year, I would do it.
Agree regarding using on any type of run. Of course it’s built for a specific purpose but sometimes I just need to reach for a shoe like this on a day where I just need to be inspired! If I’m not in the mood to go out and run easy for an hour it definitely helps make it more enjoyable on those kind of days! I wore mine for 10km on the treadmill today!
Glad you have warmed up to the shoe. I've found the shoe literally disappears on the feet. It helps me, without feeling uncontrolled. Effort levels feel so much more reduced. Just finished a nearly 2min PB at the 10k distance during a time trial. Which is a distance I don't specifically run often. I agree, it might be a bit too tame for the 5k. But for half marathon, and definitely full marathon, the shoe is just a dream. 4 weeks out from my spring marathon and can't wait to see how the shoe does. After running marathons in the AF V1 and V2 already.
Edd, I'm glad you are liking them. I'd love to see if you can break your half marathon PB in these shoes later in the year. Unfortunately, AF3 is too expensive for my budget.
I have "difficult ankles" and just trying to put these on was surely an unwelcomed struggle. Too much to be honest... A shoe that puts me in a bad mood before running is not going to make it into my rotation, simple as that. The HEFTY price tag did NOT help, either. And I did try to change my mind a couple more times... same result. I guess I'll live and stay away from Nike's and Alphaflys... no big deal Thanks again for the cool, amusing and informative video, amigo Edd :)
It's a tool to invest in over time. I'd say most people waste a lot more money for a lot less useful things in their lives. But when the marathon majors are all 200+ USD it makes it much more worth it to get the best tool possible for the big day.
I bought it 4 days ago, love it, run 10 miles a day and never had such an amazing jog, feels insanely light, you have amazing cushion and feels like you get a nice faster more comfortable jog, it’s worth the price tag if u run every
I am glad to hear you have changed your mind Ed , as a massive Alphafly fan I was hoping you would as I do value your reviews and I love these shoes so much especially the V1 👍
The value question is interesting for sure! The Sky Paris is 77% (ish) the cost of the af3. Is the af3 23% better eh? Shoe maths, food for thought. Obviously I’d have both if I could 😅 great vid as always!
You are comparing different shoes. One shoe might be a better fit or a better match for person's foot strike, etc. or in someone's favorite color, in which case it's a binary choice (i.e. one shoe is 100% better).
I will have to try them again. I wore them for a week doing about 50 miles when was reviewing them and not been inclined to put them on since. Thought it was odd that Ben Parkes seemed to love them then he tore his hamstring and they never got mentioned again and is back in Vaporflys.
Edd, can I ask since you mentioned the sky Paris. I normally run in 8 mm drop shoes. I'm wondering if I would notice the difference in this sky Paris? Versus the 8 mm drop in the alpha fli
Nike stopped shipping to New Zealand last year, so now the only stuff we can get are Pegs and the like at big box stores. Lame. Really keen to try something like the Zegama, and the AF3, but alas...
Great to come back again on this. I just took my pair out for an inaugural fartlek run. It felt stiff and not that bouncy. It may be the pods aren't for me at 200 lbs. I have Hope now since they may need this suggested break in period.
I did 16 miles initially and they were squeaky, tough and at times very inconsistent. That seems to have all gone away over the very 30 miles. So maybe you could be ok.
Picked up the Volt AF3 last week, and got the super-discounted Saucony EP3 this week. My first run in the AF3 was very positive -- the upper comfort was a pleasant surprise.
Love the follow up and awesome you love them. You had me convinced in the deviate nitro 2 elite after I was all on the hype train for the alpha fly 3 now I’m back in the confused train. 😂 oh well I will figure it out. For marathon racing and training of coarse.
The best shoe I have already tried! I can imagine other one delivering what Alphafly 3 can do. Light, responsive, confy, perfect for marathons e half marathons
I watched the Manchester marathon yesterday and counted way more AF3 shoes on the feet of the elites and sub 3 runners than any other ( mainly VF and Adi Pro) shoes.
While I did see many AF3 on the male elites in the Boston Marathon today, the winner was in Adidas Evo's. Edd - do you see these as really helping you later on the marathon like mile 20+ vs the sky?
For the algorithm as well ... This shoe is probably the most aggressive show I've run in. It gets on my toes and keeps me there really well. The issue I had... I didn't break it in before running a 1/2 marathon, and had some wild blisters for these. So I'm now breaking them in hoping the blisters don't happen again.
I finally had a chance to try that shoe and what surprised me was the fit. The only available size on the store was a US 10 and was disappointed at first because I was looking for a US 11 because that was my size in the 2nd version. I was surprised that the US 10 fit my foot perfectly and there were no arch issues in spite of it being smaller. 😊
I purchased the AF3 a couple weeks before the Boston Marathon and haven't tried them on yet. Was waiting until after the race but I have a few toenails that aren't gonna make it, so I might have to wait a few more weeks! 🤪 There were quite a runners wearing these during Boston, though the warmer temps probably curtailed quite a few PRs! 🥵
I'm 68 years old & I do hill repeats 4 times a week. I don't jog or run 10-minute miles. What lightweight forward-moving shoe would you recommend? I''m 5'7 150 lbs.
I thought this is just another gimmick as two pairs of Nike runners failed me years ago. Went to a store today to get some brooks, saw a pair of this AF 3, tried it on, run around the store a bit, and the bounce on them is what I’ve been longing for running almost 18 years. It set me back CAD $375, but I’m really excited.😊

I’ve minimized dining out as much just so I can get these AF3s. Also got the ASICS Meta Sky, Endo Pro 4, and VF3. I guess I won’t be dining out for a while 😂 #forthealgo
I don’t love this shoe so far. I don’t feel the same energy return and bounce as the v1 especially at faster paces. It just feels a little odd and bulky almost like the V2. Perhaps, I need to put more mileage on them before they come into form.
I ran past a much younger, taller man than me who was wearing these shoes around 11 miles into my half marathon yesterday. I’m sure they’re great, but won’t help much if you’re walking. 😅
I knew you was wrong Edd from your initial somewhat below average review. Alphafly 3 is a banger of a shoe. Guess you just needed to put the miles in 😅
He's not wrong though. The shoe does feel stiff out of the box. You need to soften up the upper, the midsole, the glues and let the shoe adjust to your feet by putting in miles
Kinda disappointing to hear this. My Alphafly 1s are coming to the end of their life. When I saw the AF3s were getting mixed reviews compared to the Metaspeed Sky Paris I thought I knew where I'd be jumping ship to. If the AF3s are good after all my decision gets more complicated.
Outsole at 100 miles looks similar to the wear on my prime x strung v1s at 700 (SEVEN HUNDRED) miles. And I'm a 'heavier' runner. I said SEVEN HUNDRED. Nike outsoles 🤦. I don't care that the foam creases, I care that the rubber that protects it burns out very quickly. Oh. And I don't trust air pods. 75% of mine went on the tempos after less than 300 miles.
@@EDDBUDI’m surprised, I had a draft reply saying I was tempted by Manchester on your earlier post but hadn’t committed to send it… the Marathon still scares me..

I ordered a pair and I wanna maintain them to be atleast scuffed but not black like that
How many miles do I have to run in them before the squeak goes away? 😆
So this or the paris sky then
This for marathon. Paris for the rest
The real question is can you buy this shoe?
Yes loads here in the uk
I knew you was wrong Edd from your initial somewhat below average review. Alphafly 3 is a banger of a shoe. Guess you just needed to put the miles in 😅
🥈
He's not wrong though. The shoe does feel stiff out of the box. You need to soften up the upper, the midsole, the glues and let the shoe adjust to your feet by putting in miles
When you consider some daily trainers are getting close to that price. The price is okay.
I’m just commenting here for the algorithm
Thanks for the support.
My af2's have lasted about 1,000klm the delicate foam of the heel has failed... This shoe looks like it hase even less foam in the heel 👠
That’s not bad from a race shoe
Worth every penny. Ferrari Aston Martin ENVE Melee Dior
I was gonna buy a pair but you've bought up all the stock Edd😂😂😂
will be your next marathon shoe? your pb was the ASICS ?
Either this or the asics
PS. Enjoyed Cheekface. Thanks for the tip
Just been listening to them! Such energy and mystique!
The ASICS still the master for half down to 5k. The alphafly would be my choice for a marathon
Looking forward to getting these in the 2026 sales 😂
Nice
took too long to release this, now oos in my size :(
Outsole at 100 miles looks similar to the wear on my prime x strung v1s at 700 (SEVEN HUNDRED) miles.
Marvellous vid of course Edd. I disagree on value, but respect your change of mind! ✊
The primex strung at 150 miles is way better than the alphafly already. No comparison there.
Not first

@@EDDBUDI’m surprised, I had a draft reply saying I was tempted by Manchester on your earlier post but hadn’t committed to send it… the Marathon still scares me..
Just purchase eluid kipchoge edition
