I'm replacing the cambelt on this car and needed to know how to remove the intake manifold in order to install a flywheel locking tool. This video was very helpful, thank you for the great work.
Great video, helped me a lot- many thanks. A couple of things I noted from my experience: 1)All my manifold bolts were exactly the same size, strangely enough. 2)I left the belt in situ, removed the 2 upper alternator bolts, prised the alternator forwards using a crowbar, using the remaining lower bolt as a pivot. This allowed me to access the left upper manifold retaining bolt, which is otherwise mostly hidden. I moved the alternator forwards and backwards to assist with removing the lower left manifold bolt. 3)I managed to remove and reinsert the lower left manifold bolt by using a couple of extension bars. It was tricky. A magnetic grabber helped to lift it out after the bolt was completely unthreaded. cheers :)
You have to admire Ford's creative ways to suck money out of a person. I'm watching this because my mother inlaw needs a new pcv valve. What used to take 10 minutes and cost $10.00 now takes 5 hours and costs $100.00 if you do it yourself and $800.00+ if they do it. Creative huh, just make the valve complicated, expensive and impossible to change without removing the intake manifold. Bravo Ford you did it again.

Designer of this engine should be stripped of his license. Bad design.
Bad design of engine. Throw away ca4.
What a headache
This is the most ridiculous design - what was Ford thinking?
