Tonight I 'discovered' you and I am absolutely blown away by your talent. Not only the crocheted projects, but I Ioved seeing your beautiful embroidery too. It was so wonderful to see your studio. Thank you so much for this tour. By the way: I think we are about the same age. I was born in December 1952, so I am 71 now. So great to watch a video made by someone of my age instead of someone aged 30 something ! I am more of a knitter than a crocheter, but I love all things creative. I have sewn a lot in the past and also worked with paper, for instance scrapbooking. Also loved to do crazy quilting. If I had only more time I would do that again. Nowadays I often test knitting patterns for designers from all over the world and I love that very much. Thank you for a very nice video and I hope you will vlog much more in the near future. Hugs from The Netherlands!
I’m so glad you discovered me! Yes we are about the same age. Thank you for your really lovely comment, - it encourages me to make more videos. The next one will be a little more about my embroidery. x
You just popped up on my recommended videos, and I don’t how I’ve managed to miss you before! I am primarily a knitter, but have come very late to crocheting (I’m 74). Your blankets are inspirational, and I really enjoyed your studio tour. You’re right, we do like a wee nosy around other people’s craft spaces! 😅 Have subscribed and look forward to seeing more of you and checking out your tutorials. 😊
I'm curious if you have ever made junk journals? I ask because I made one out of an old book that I quilted a cover for and I filled it will all of my little needlework samples and works that never amounted to anything. I enjoy looking through it so much, rather than just having it stashed in a drawer. All of your little samples are so fabulous, they deserve to be seen.
Thank you Marion for sharing your studio and giving us a peek at your design process. The space is lovely and the surrounding countryside just beautiful! I absolutely love your patterns and tutorials, and am nearing the completion of Winter Walk and hope to start the Seed Packet next. You are very talented!🌷 Maryann
Thank you Marion! I absolutely enjoyed touring your Crochet Studio 😍 It was so wonderful to see your previous crafting endeavours & how they have melted together into your crochet designs ... ❤ Susannah
Loved your video. I also like to have special little knick knacks round my craft room. I have drifted from one craft to another over the years but always return to crochet. Been doing it for almost 50 years now, I love that it's had a resurgence, especially The good old granny square. Love your work Marion.
Thank you for sharing your creative space with us; you’re right we are nosey crafters! But it’s inspirational and motivating and one can get good ideas. I really enjoyed your vlog 🧶😊
I would feel compelled to make a giant, beautiful wall hanging out of the tiny squares of fabric and tiny roses. I can see it in my minds eye. It would look like your little cards but be huge. I enjoyed your video.
Thank you Marion for a wonderful tour of your studio. I agree..we crafter / crocheters are a nosy bunch. I so enjoyed seeing all of your craft work. You are an inspiration for many of us crocheters and I'm looking forward to another Vlog! You have a beautiful studio! Thank you for all you do and for sharing with all of us!
It's nice to meet you! Your studio is wonderfully bright and airy, one can't help but be happy there. Thank you for sharing your space, it was a nice visit.
Hi Marion, I follow you on Instagram and love your patterns. I have so many projects waiting and people keep having babies so I keep having to stop to crochet gifts for them! As soon as I’m caught up, I can’t wait to try one of your patterns. I liked the vlog, I’m 28 and perhaps not your target audience! You come accross as very warm and maternal, it was comforting. Best wishes Alex
😂😂No, maybe not my target audience ( just think of me as your granny!👵🏻) Anyway, I hope that doesn’t stop you trying one of the patterns, as you say. Crochet is such an amazing pastime for any age. xx
You just popped up lovely to see someone nearer my age am 70 since March been a knitter as long as can remember and still learning crochet and getting there thank you
What a lovely creative space. I particularly enjoyed hearing about your creative and business journey. As a creative about to reach 4 years in my business it really gave me heart to hear how dreams can be achieved and how the path evolves along the way. Thank you for sharing your space.
@@midgeporter7495 It’s been a long, hard journey as you will know yourself, Midge. I’ve watched your Instagram posts, setting up your craft market stands, with a good deal of nostalgia. That was our life every weekend from 1988 to 2010. We used to double up to two fairs a weekend, with a mid week one sometimes too. At that time I also had a bricks and mortar shop/gallery, a mail order business (before the internet), then a website. Oh, and I taught three evening classes and two day classes in embroidery just to ensure that sleep was way down the list of priorities! This was all because my husband had given up his secure teaching job to be in the business with me, and with two kids at school looking to go to uni and a mortgage to pay, we HAD to make it work. I scaled well back on the craft fairs though, when we started doing trade fairs in 1998, and that was when the business really took off. I think your stands look brilliant, and though it’s a slog to set up and take down, you get a real buzz from talking to your customers, don’t you?😊
@@Woolthreadpaint thank you so much. I think I am reaching that stage of moving on from craft fairs now and I have really enjoyed being part of some of the larger yarn festivals. Great places for networking and getting good ideas and tips. I do love talking to folks and getting that feedback is so valuable. Being able to work around my family really helps :)
@@midgeporter7495 Yes that was the way we went. We cut back on the smaller fairs, concentrating on the larger ones, like the West End fair during the Edinburgh Fringe (seven days a week for three weeks was quite an experience) Country Living and the Highland Show, for example. Latterly we just did those three, as well as the Trade Fairs and that was enough! I could see you having great success at the Yarn Festivals and the big Creative Craft shows at the SECC are worth trying. We used to exhibit at the Creative Craft Christmas events and they were really good.
@@Woolthreadpaint thank you for great suggestions of new places to try. Last year I was at Yarndale and The Scottish Yarn Festival. This year I have done 'Tangled' in Galashiels, The Cumbrian Wool Gathering, and I will be at The North East Wool Show and The Scottish Yarn Festival again. It is always great to hear which shows to try and hopefully next year I will build up to a trade fair. Not quite sure how that works though.
Your video just came up in my recommended feed and I'm so glad it did! I've got one of your crochet blankets on my to-do list :) That was a lovely studio tour! Thank you for sharing it with us :)
I just came across the lovely video of your studio. You are so talented! You do beautiful work. I’m subscribed to your channel now xx Mary
Hi from Scotland. Yes I’m sure we are quite similar to Ireland. How lovely to be going back home to visit! Have a lovely time and thank you for subscribing😊
You may have stimulated me to have a bit of a tidy because my studio is a hot mess lol. I love the yarn all on display. Sadly, I am wool hoarder and although I am a Brit I currently live in the US in Louisiana, so I cannot leave any of mine out due to all the tropical pests that can and sometimes do make it into my house. I look forward to returning to Scotland soon. Also, today its over 94 degrees in Louisiana and it isn't even really summer yet. So, seeing the lovely countryside and cool wind makes me long for home. Also not crocheting or knitting anything large right no due to the aforementioned Heat. The work is gorgeous, and I love the light in the studio and that glorious French door.
I think this was great, I loved seeing your studio it was really interesting. I think you have allot of experience and I found it fascinating to listen to. I mostly like to watch crafters vlogs on TH-cam while I craft. Loved this video ❤
I strayed across this tour just before lunch today so I paused it had lunch and came back to it. It was a very thorough tour. Thank you so much for doing it. Such beautiful colours. I'm impressed by your craft space . So lovely. I live in Arizona in the US. I have a summer home and a winter home so in winter I do have a small craft room. In my summer home I have a very large bed room which is also my craft room, not the best situation but it works for me. The heat in Arizona drives us to the mountains of eastern Arizona where it's cool in the summer. The worse part is deciding what materials I want to take. I do slow stitching and watercolor painting and some junk journaling. I've slowly divided my materials and split my materials . I also like to knit and crochet. Makes my life interesting. Living in the desert and living in the forest.
I'm very lucky. The heat in central Az is very intense. It can get up to 120 degrees F. Luckily I do indoor crafts. Lately I've been thinking about crouching some shawls for winter and summer here in the mountains where it gets chilly in the evenings. Your crochet inspired me to do that after I saw your projects thank you for that. Happy crocheting.🌵🌻🌲
