What i like about Black Christmas is that nobody acts dumb for the sake of adding tension. The cops listen to the girls concerns, i really like the call tracing scene, and the fact that there isnt a "happy ending" (and no one finds the girl in the attic) makes it even more disturbing. Btw if you havent seen Terror Train, i highly recommend it. It's one of Jamie Lee Curtis' earliest movies and is overshadowed by her other horror films of that time.
Good list. Agree 100% on Black Christmas. Fantastic film. I liked The Fun House more than you did, and didn't find the first third too slow, but good character building, and the very, very end was good. Fans may want to know Clove Hitch Killer has roots in the actual BTK Killer, who was a scout leader, father, dressed up in odd women's clothing and outfits, and primarily used a clove hitch to bind his victims, and was a horrific, sick individual.
If you want to check out some really obscure horror I'd suggest Flesh Eating Mothers, Mausoleum, Don't go in the Woods, Mountaintop Motel Massacre, Popcorn, The Beast Must Die, Ghost Keeper, The Laughing Dead, Evil Laugh, Mirror Mirror, Slugs, and my favorites The Kindred (1987) and Dolls
Some good picks but I would always put Rusty Nail from the Joy Ride trilogy on here. The fact he has 3 movies but gets so little recognition is sad. And he's supportable in a strange way in contrary to many killers.
The fight in "House of Wax" was a little cheesy because the movie was being filmed in the expensive to shoot (so try to not have many retakes) 3D process in color. Plus, the fire effects and set were pretty much a "you got one chance to get this" because there weren't many replacement pieces. Another interesting sidenote, "House of Wax" is considered one of the best early color 3D films, and it was directed by André De Toth, who was blind in one eye so never could see how the effects were working. And a noticeable role by Carolyn Jones (aka "Morticia Addams") as one of the early victims.
MY personal list of rare and underrated horror flicks .. . Andy Warhol's Blood for Dracula (1974) The Entity (1982) Alice Sweet Alice (1975) Blood On Satan’s Claw (1971) Eyes Without a Face (1959) The Honeymoon Killers (1970) Black Sunday (1960) Peeping Tom (1961) Toolbox Murders (1977) Santa Sangre (1989) The Unseen (1980) Bug (1975) Silent Night Bloody Night (1973) Grave of the Vampire (1972) Horror Express (1972) Shock Waves (1977) Hell Night (1981) Razorback (1984) Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) Hands of the Ripper (1972) Nosferatu the Vampire (1979) Phantom of the Paradise (1975) Dressed to Kill (1980) The Fly (original 1958) Terrorvision (1986) Haxan (1922) Wolfen (1981) Cat People (1982) The Hidden (1987) The Legacy (1979) Dead and Buried (1981)
Just watched Society and already got the Arrow release. Absolutely brilliant film. These are some of my other favourite underrated gems Braindead (Dead Alive) Audition Possession Hausu Cure The Wailing Versus (2000)
Good job on list , I’m really glad you ranked Black Christmas #1 , I saw this when I was a little kid & it scared the shit out of me !!!! Rewatched it almost 4 decades later & it still scared the shit out of me !!!😱
If you go just by the trailer, Magic would be the scariest movie of all time. Even if you go just by the era in which it was made, and who the star was, it should have been one of the greatest horror movies ever. I'm not sure what happened....but for me, it just didn't work.
Black Christmas is considered one of founding movies of the slasher genre. Why is it considered underrated? If you are a true connoisseur of horror, you know this movie. Maybe it’s not known by the younger generations🤷♀️but my dad absolutely love this movie. It’s a Christmas must watch😅
Nice, check out those in case: 1/The owner 2008 blueprint of the classic Sleep tight (girls, it's not for you) 2/The vagrant 1992 underrated thriller with the very fun Bill Paxton 3/Nine miles down 2009, Anthony Waller and writer Everett de Roche(Road games) 4/The uninvited guest 2004 first(and best) Guillem Morales so far, mood/mental thriller 5/The ressurected 1991, Dan O'Bannon meets H.P Lovecraft 💣 6/Macabre 2009,gore,by great indonesian duo Stamboel&Tjahjanto(they have stuff on Netflix) 7/The cellar 2003 Martin Kjellberg,no budget full scare, made by swedish students.. 8/Evil words 2003 Eric Tessier, before 5150 Orm street, another very dark thriller 9/End of the line 2007 Maurice Dvereaux, subway, creatures, cult, apocalypse?!, nice B movie 10/Hidden 2009 Pal Oie, don't recall much but highly moody and quite scary.
“There are too many great movies for me to pick a number 1.” I thought…ugh, how pretentious and annoying. Got me. Haha Black Christmas is scary af. Those types of horror movies are really the most frightening. And there’s something about that 70s vibe that makes it more disturbing somehow. Great choices!
Seriously, slow down. You sound like those fake voice vids. You clearly know what you’re talking about, as some great films in your list. But, please, pause, take a breath, enunciate and creat some drama. Otherwise it’s a computer’s list. 👌 Great recommendations, though !👍
Are we suppose to fall asleep watching these movies? Half of them are from the 70-80’s and the other half are thrillers, not horror. Chernobyl diaries? The houses October built? Hell house LLC? VHS? None of those?!

Awesome list. And love that you opened and closed it with Bob Clark gems. Just Before Dawn is so damn good.
Thanks! Was gonna mention the Bob Clark thing in the video but wanted to avoid the giveaway.
Black Christmas 1974 is truly one of the most horrifying films I've ever seen, so happy to see it at #1!!!
I just subbed. Thesis is amazing and Magic is creepy brilliant.
Society is one of my favorite films!

Thank you for the recommendations! You've hipped me to quite a few undiscovered gems.

I agree with most every film on your list. Most importantly, Black Christmas.

LOVE that movie
Horror is the best Genre ever. If there is a Genre real to our existences here it is Horror ! Total Horror !

Great video dude
There's also "Dead Silence," which has ventriloquist dummies in it, too.
One of my favorite movies. As a horror goroe, I can agree that this movie is waaaaay underrated compared to other horror movies.
Much appreciated 🙏🏽💯

SPOILERS BEWARE!
Looks like the makers of Scream have been inspired by Stranger calls, lol.
I tried to get into society. I'm sober so I couldn't love it. In 80s if I saw young drunk vhs I would like
“There are too many great movies for me to pick a number 1.”
I thought…ugh, how pretentious and annoying.
Got me. Haha

Also, I own a motorhome exactly like the one in Just Before Dawn (and also in Stripes with Bill Murray) lol

Great list. Just one problem…you have a picture of one of my favorite creep fests on the thumbnail but didn’t include it on your list….Tourist Trap!
Look for it on a Vol. 2!
