You sound like me when in the middle of teaching a class in history and totally lose my train of thought!! My students would often almost roll off their chairs!! Little Red Ridinghood hood...what a great visual!! Seems like I need to send some of our snow...we're up to 60cm+ at present and more to come!! I was wondering where Jimbo was...there's the little sausage indeed!
Thanks so much for watching my friend ! More snow on the way here but juat rain for now. Jimmy eats far too much but I will have to be careful as he can now hardly get up onto the sofa !! Have a wonderful week ahead tommorrow ! Jimmy and Andy
Best thing about being on exercise in the 90's as standard military you could wear goucci kit .. you'd take that smock and get the cuffs tailored in camp for knitted cuffs made from a buckshee pair of heavy wool socks
@JimTimber haha yeah use clean ones .. yes exactly like a para smock.. we used to put tape over the button stitching too .. the 1st comment should have read while in Germany.. they seemed to have more of a stick up the ass over on exercise in the UK.. Heck we couldn't exercise at a weekend in Germany and would Grill and drink while cammed up
We used to sleep with our rifle like it was our girlfriend Andy. Ha ha! A sweet jacket mate - my dad used to wear his painting the house. I would love to have that now. I reckon my mum threw it out not realizing it was a gem. Thanks for sharing bro. Mark
Thanks for sharing my friend! Smashing jacket, don't have this version yet 🤔. I very much like the DPM (both UK and Dutch versions) but even when you don't, these are practical and very sturdy jackets. Have a great weekend! P.s. where has the snow gone all of a sudden 😮?!
Practical piece of kit and probably my favorite item type in your uniform collection. Yeah, the SAS didn't use slings and actually, in some cases, removed the sling swivels completely. The rational was that the weapon would thus be always in the hand, ready for use. I remember reading a lively discussion in Soldier of Fortune (a US magazine for merc types back in the 80s) whether the SAS way was the best, with the general consensus amongst the arm chair mercs being that a sling was a necessary item most of the time. Personally, even back then I thought that the SAS knew what they were doing and didn't rely too much on the views of some fat ex-army buggers in California who 'advised' Central American rebels! Plus, slings make an awful clatter - if you watched my recent video all that clattering came not from the deact but from the metal fittings on the sling!
Cheers Al bro and thanks for the helpful info as always. I really enjoyed your new acquisition of the M16 !! I also enjoyed the model kit videos as I had many Airfix plastic soldirs in the past. I used to paint them and they all looked like they had sunburn as the pink face paint I jused was way too lurid !! lol I used to buy SOF as a kid and pour over all the ads for various bits of kit that were totally off limits in the UK ! Have a great week !!
Please switch your comments back on.. I knudle the noodle that it is easier no makes da makaron.. and it is so much fun cahatting wirh you on here Al bro !! (thats how I write in my dialeptic dyslexia ..without spending a half hour checking it all !! !!) lol
That's a great combat smock, oh those jokes... 😂❤
Ha ha ! ..Bless you !! X
That poachers pocket as you call it is simply to stow the smock in after you have folded it to stow in the Bergen.
Well that's interesting !!.. thanks so much for the helpful informatuion !! ..very much appreciated !!
Can't say I've known anyone use the poachers to stow the coat it's not a kangaroo pouch and you'd stow it in a dry bag ..
Need a video how to roll it into pochers pocket.
Great find Jim that garment is in like new shape I would wear that one for sure
Cheers bro ! Have an awesome week ahead my friend !!
