Iv had this exact jacket for close to 10 years now. Worn it the death, had the zip changed after about 6 months because it was chewed by the dog, the teeth are only plastic on mine. but everything else is still fine. Iv waxed mine a few times aswell

Carpenters pencil up and down any zip lubricates it.

Ironed a Jkt like a true crow bag 😜!

From what I can remember it was wrinkled so much it had probably been at the bottom of the pile for years, all of it was bent over backwards, it wouldn't flatten, other wise you won't catch me ironing in a thousand years.

    Who makes that repro model?

@jwgbmp40 I had a look at the label, and even that's a reproduction. It's unbranded, and I can't remember where I bought it online. Sorry about that.

@Andy-walkaboutnutty no prob. I just bought a repro from some UK GI store on ebay. They description was same as pcs issue, delivered it was $115 US $$ so looking forward to it. Iam a former US Marine 1st gulf war vet. Have never like the m65 field coat (gave to my lil bro) the gortex is too much when its not raining, looking forward to trying the smock. Your vids helped me determine that.

@jwgbmp40 same for me in 1990-91. I was a tank transporter then with the british army. I hope your jacket serves you well.

    It has an nsn number

    • @Andy-walkaboutnutty
      @Andy-walkaboutnutty  ปีที่แล้ว

I'm pretty sure the nsn number is reproduced as well. It's very cheap and nasty.

      Hi Andy.
Dosnt look that bad for the price.
      Ironing?
I only do that for me shirt for weddings and funerals.🤣
Best thing to do if you don’t want to iron, is hang it in a steamy bathroom for a few days, the creases will fall out on their own.
      All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧😉

Nice review. Surely though you can buy the real deal for around £50?

    • @Andy-walkaboutnutty

Only on Ebay but they don't have a range of sizes, just a one off so its pot luck, or they are a grade 1 or 2. A new dpm genuine sas smock on average is about £150. and near £10. Saving is a good thing for some people Charles. Some people just don't want "tight wods" or cant spend that money. Anyway, glad you liked the video.

@@Andy-walkaboutnutty Not seen any plain green ones,if someone doesn't want to look military/camo but want a smock,it's a great price.

@@flatmoon6359 a great price comes with a price, I'll explain. I did a waterproof test video in the rain with a genuine SAS smock and this one. What a difference, this smock definitely needs a waterproof cover of some sort. Like an ordinary civilian gortex underneath and this cheap smock to take the brunt of anything so not to mess up an expensive gortex like when carrying wood or smoke from the fire etc, then afterwards it can be cleaned, chucked away or cut up and made into bags or a crude Milbank bag---water filter. Cheap comes with a price. I wouldn't recommend it in bad weather.

@@Andy-walkaboutnutty Totally agree, but when I wore these type of issue smock(Not the SAS agreed),they were nothing more than shower proof,a good proofing was required. There were some Ventile ones issued, but only "they" got them.
