    For the bandsaw stand, I built a wooden frame for mine. It was really fast. Eventually, I’ll make a metal one, but the wooden one is surprisingly ‘Skookum’.

    Thank you for.the content you provide. You inspired me to start making knives. I am ordering my.2x72 tomorrow. I have also gotten a paragon kiln. I'm super excited to not have to hand file bevels anymore. You must have cut a pile of blanks on that Milwaukee.

    Houses in cold climates have an 'arctic room'. A small room on the front/back of the house where you can put your boots on and off... Which keeps the cold out of the house. Make such a room out of that staircase, to keep the dust out of the house. Could be as simple as a 2x2 frame wrapped in plastic, with a storm door on it...

    THANKS for the video! Should the bearing be lubricated, or should we avoid doing that?

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re welcome! I don’ think it would make too much of a difference if they were lubricated or not. They are a sealed bearing so not intended to be lubricated. I think they will just fail due to the nature of the work they do and the size that they are.

    you can use a French cleat to put the bandsaw on the wall.. or even a double French cleat... may work for you...

      Get some help! Lots of youtubers emloying asistent worker! With your amount of knife orders one asistent worker helps a lot,and dont cost a fortune! Think about that! :)

    • @thomasarussellsr
      @thomasarussellsr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rodoljb cicko yeah, but he'd have to find someone who is at the same level of anal retention when it comes to his quality demands. Of course, they could run for coffee refills, actually do the packaging/shipping, carry stuff over from the old shop... anything that eats away at the production time.

    Transmission supplies on 42ave and Blackfoot would probably have the bearings you’re looking for.

    Very helpful video, exactly the same band saw as mine!
    Interested to know what TPI blade your using? I've been using a 14tpi blade and it struggles a little cutting 4mm 01 tool steel but yours seems to cut through with ease!

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Andy Brocklehurst thanks! Actually I also just run a 14 TPI on mine. I find it to be the best all around blade for what I cut. Cheers👍

    Grinding room? You got an empty sea-can... :D

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      an empty sea-can that's -20ºC a lot of the winter...the whole reason why I'm moving into the garage in the first place...👍 (grinders don't start well or run well let alone my fingers when it's that cold😆)

    If you had to choose from one power tool to make a knife what would it be?

  • @thomasarussellsr
    @thomasarussellsr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hmm, I'm sensing a theme today. The TradsmanChannel2017 put out a maintenance video on his bandsaw mill today.
    Hey, didbyoubever do anything with that Damascus Steele blank from Alec yet? If you did, I can't find the video. Also, if you are going to order "spare" bearings any way, why not just go ahead and replace all the bearings on that lower guide system while it was out?
    Thanks, and see you next time.

  • @axtra92

    My blade just keep flying off.. would this mabye be a fix for that?

  • @selador11
    @selador11 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am a fan of going ahead and replacing parts if you have new ones, while you already have the tool apart. I would have put the new back bearing on. Also, instead of leaving the old bearings on one post... Since the front ones obviously take the most abuse... I would have put the old bearings on the back of each post, and the new bearings on the front of each post.
