Sketchbooks are unique to the individual aren’t they!places to play for sure and it doesn’t matter if you make mistakes!I decided to draw my shopping list as I couldn’t think what to do lol!Great tips here Doug..I love fancy writing ..I googled metallic writing in the search and a site called Freepik came up and there’s all sorts of great lettering there or we have your permission to just copy yours Doug!😉 My fave haircuts…giggled along with you🤣but never thought to dedicate a sketchbook to one subject 👍🏻As for your sketches and paintings..you should be proud Doug…you are a proper artist!!Yes with the baseball cap but I think definitely a nice tweed jacket for Sunday best!!We’ve always had the saying do you live in a barn, here in Nottingham..Thanks me duck for sharing!!😆❤️

Wear the cap! It’s your life! ( a song….? ). I’ve always put short notes to self in my sketchbook. ( only 1 yr old ). Were you an illustrator? During my apprenticeship I was lucky to work with many talented aeroplane illustrators. I was always fascinated watching them create. Thanks

My dad is 73 and wears a baseball cap! (Admittedly they are totally plain and are kind of non-descript colours). I think wearing any kind of hat is mostly about having the confidence to carry it off (or to not care) which I guess is why I hardly ever wear hats hahaha

Might be time for a flat cap - celebrate your roots. As for script, I too spent a lot of time at a drawing board, and if you want slavish accuracy and standards compliant lettering those are my sole areas of artistic competence, or were. However, I went to a bit of trouble to develop a more informal style of printing, and found that a good way to practise was doing the crossword every day. When every letter has its own little box you can concentrate on the forms in isolation, and there's no blank page situation to mess with your head.

I know exactly what you mean about the pleasure of crossword script. I have a digital app but it's just not the same.

Hey! John Deere. There's a bit of Americana right there. LOL it clashes with your accent! Well I'm closer to 60. Listen, if you conduct yourself like a gentleman, and wear a cap like a farmer or a pipefitter, well that turns into a bit of style right there.

No to the cap! Why squash your lovely curls?!? A floppy straw hat could work.. All my drawing is in sketchbooks. I'll try to remember to leave space for writing, it looks fabulous in yours. I sign each one even tho they're just for me. Who knows, when I'm long gone they'll be discovered in a box in an attic somewhere, and become famous!

I didn't start wearing a baseball cap until my mid fifties. I also own a deer stalker, although I look bloody stupid in that. I only bought it "because". I'd quite like a bowler hat. Why are we talking about hats? Must've missed that bit.
