Didn’t see anyone mention this, & not sure if you’re aware, so Imma spread this out here. SamT has actually discussed about this debacle & explained what happened on Twitter. Apparently ATS lost a court case against the contractor for the 745 after ATS had breached the contract by locking out the source material from the contractor. After that ATS sued the contractor for not finishing the train. While speculative, I wouldn’t be surprised if the high price is needed to recoup the court fees. Not only is this Flirt debacle a joke for the price, but a real case of unfair work practices.

The thing I don't seem to understand is 38 quid. I said something to the tune on their stream of "don't get me wrong, i'm sure it's a very detailed and good product, but 38 quid. 38 quid is a lot. wallets are gonna feel that"
My comparison would be DCS - you pay £40 quid on sales, and 65 off, for a full fidelity aircraft, which while isn't complete, is constantly being updated, has new features and corrections made mostly, has absolutely everything modeled, and can do all different bits and bobs. yeah it has its share of bugs and problems, but they're actively being fixed.
Whereas this, 745, you can use on not that many routes (and some of them are paywalled behind ATS as well) and its one class that does one thing. And all in all, yes the TMS is kinda impressive, but as TSTV said, there's some omissions/errors and bugs that just shouldn't be a thing for 38 quid. and chances are after the first month you'll get no updates to it. AND the 755 is a separate pack. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying AP is any better, but at least with their expensive packs like the 37 its got everything modelled correctly and whatnot
Oh, and you don't have to pay for a sub. what u see is what you get at AP.
Who says they won't do updates? They do updates quite a lot. Sometimes TOO much!
You could also compare the price to the Fenix A320 available for MSFS.

How can a TS Classic add-on possibly cost £37.99? That's appalling, remembering that this is one train and not a complete route, and ATS' greed could really give AP a run for their money. Come to think of it, even if a route was priced at £37.99, that would still be a massive rip-off.
I'll wager that the 755 will be just as expensive. In which case, that'll suck because I like the 755 and want to use her on the Wherry Lines route. How on earth could the 745 possibly be worth as much as £37.99! A more realistic price would be something like £14.99, and even then, that's still pushing it.

ATS has always been a joke, first the paywall to access “freeware” content then the exclusive releases to the site, then the payware that requires other payware products in order to actually use the product

The route and the train should be a combination package in the £15 to £25 range. If you buy this product at that stupid silly price as of what it is today you need to check what your priorities are in life seriously. Garlic Bread is the better option as it stands.

Actually when you slam a 745 into full power from a stop it makes that different inverter noise, am I right? I heard that same sound from other videos of the 745 departing…
It doesn't actually. What you're describing is a switch from unipolar to bipolar PWM, which causes completely different harmonics and therefore can't just be simulated by a sound pitching down. There's actually another switch at ~50 kph, which is really just the bandwidth increasing. The latter is what they tried to simulate with the different inverter sound, but it's not realistic

I would've fell into the trap if ATS account making process wasn't hell. It said put Ur email in, make Ur username and password. I did that. Said it worked and to try the login, didn't work. Password reset email. Didn't send even tho the button said it did. It's just an utter rubbish website. Even I can do better with that. If it worked I would've waited to learn investments before even considering buying payware dlc. The freeware looks alright in my opinion but the payware is worse than the class 166 on the euro loco and asset pack.
Try the 3dzug ICE 1 train on just trains. Much better and cheaper at £28 mate.

It's no doubt a rip-off but being a lover of modern trains I had to at least pirate it and try it out. And I mean...it's not bad? The sounds aren't great but I've heard worse, it's loaded with features, and it looks decent enough. Had they done a better job with the sounds and not charge a fortune for it, it could've been worth buying.

The Passenger Announcement sounds sound great as do the Scripting Animated Screens. Im not going to make a comment on price given it could easily cost £3000 for a high polly model and yet that model might not even work in the game. Oh ive got all that to look forward to :(

I bought this thinking fast, not really knowing what to expect, before I saw this video, I thought I made a good(ish) purchase, I already had a subscription for the 'GEMMA' route, with hopes that that would be finished before the 745/755 was released, it wasn't and now I'm officially 70 something quid off, the subscription did shave off about 8 quid, but other than that. I will admit I do feel dumb, and a tad scammed.
First impressions I though the 745 was brill, once I saw this video, my eyes opened a little and now I can't drive this train without feeling guilt to myself that I made such a huge purchase on one individual E.M.U + a sub-variant, not even including the 755 + sub-variants as well!
If the 755 was included, as well as MAYBE some Weathered variants? If you've seen the state of some of the things! Perhaps this would be more worth the pretty penny. However, I will issue a warning to those considering buying this E.M.U along with acquiring the re-done GEML route....
Don't buy them... Yet... Once the clear problems have been ironed out (If they ever get rectified) and the 'GEMMA' route alongside the Class 755 is completed, then maybe, this will be more worth it. For now, clearly they are not, especially seeing as the 745 just eats away at the performance of TSC, I average about 15-27 FPS on the GEMMA route. That's Standard Mode with NO AI TRAFFIC!! Plus, it's worse around Ipswich, Colchester, Chelmsford, London and don't get me started on Stratford! Enhanced performance my ass!
I would go on, but I fear I may burst a vessel in my head from all of this, or furthermore, upset an ATS Karen... So I shall type no further...

Well at least I respect the honesty. But for £38, I agree, it should have all bugs and performance issues ironed out if they're treating like this like a premium addon. I watched a bit of the Train Sim TV video after uploading this and the amount of bugs I saw which were left ignored were laughable. Ultimately though, as you said, if this was cheaper, even without the need of a sub, and had additional variants plus the Class 755, this would be slightly more worth buying.

ATS first you have to pay a subscription fee then you have to pay for a route, then for the route to work you need to pay for other routes. ATS is a ripoff £38 for a train with an awful sound pack and a cartoony feel to the train just isn't right!
