Silver R as an Aussie I've always wondered why manual (stick shift as you call it) is such a rare combination stateside.... For me a 4,5 or 6 speed manual depending on age and type of car delivers such a better driving experience..... I can appreciate that with so much quarter mile action in the states automatic transmissions are far superior.... Hence their popularity..... But give me a manual any day.
Club Sport My loves to drive fast and pass every traffic she comes across. It's 2010 Camaro RS with a 3.6L DOHC 24V Direct ingected LFX V6 with 304 HP and 278 Ibs of torque. It's got more power than any old school V8 in the past and get 30 MPG. One time on my to my Rock Ban practice( in South City of St.Louis Missouri) when she was on the highway some person in a white Toyota Echo was trying to race my mom my mom had to punch it like crazy and then lights were flashing from the cop car, then they pulled us over and the cop have her a ticket for speeding (even tho that white Echo was going way over the speed limit than what my mom did) she was mad because my mom got for because the officer thought the camaro was speeding while she was trying to pass that white Echo. But yeah she loves the power of her car and she tries to take as much care of it as much as possible ( except I wash her car most of the time.) She got the aggressive driving from her father.
Jason M. You guys must live in an area with good engine shops. Here, a rebuild on a common Chevrolet/Buick V6 goes like this: Deposit: $2000 Service fee: $200 Labor removal: $500 Clean and rehone: $3000 Rebuild kit: $1500 Labor re-install: $500 Supplies and environmental fees: $600 So you see, the "Midwest" isn't a friendly place to find good service for good prices.
999thenewman Not rebuilds just a salvaged motor. Plenty of LS's from wrecked cars and trucks with under 50k on them at those prices. Ust get the engine wiring harness and ECU with it.
Man that's a beautiful looking Chevelle and the 6.0L LS motor sounds like a beast. This car looks wayyyy better than any thing you see on the road today.
Lucky is an interesting person. I enjoy watching his work on Motor Trend, even the Chip Foose shows where Lucky is working as a mechanic in the background. Thank you for video taping the drive. I haven't been back to Southern Cal much since 1972, when I joined the Army and never moved back to Lakewood again. The 405 was a great freeway in that area, especially around Redondo Beach and Long Beach. I do miss it at times.
Wow Lucky really knows his stuff.I keep my old cars original, because I do not know how to do this advanced stuff.Lucky is so smart,my uncle would love your builds.
Great video. My style of build/car. Love the grass roots builds. I'm in the midst of something similar right now. Hope you do another video of this car, I spied some other trick things that I'd like to know more about.
I see the wheels changed from when the mini tub install was done. Is it still sitting on 315/35/17 tires? Could you tell me what gears are in it? I'm guessing somewhere around 3.73 based off the RPM at 60 MPH?
I'm swapping in a T56 right now myself, knowing that when I'm done I will have to change gears in the rear, so your response helps me for a baseline. Thank you. I dig that car man, I hope they show more on it.
Lucky needs a bigger presence on MT. He's awesome.
Lucky is the best.
Lucky Costa is one cool dude.

savethecone

Lucky is genuinely likeable, kinda guy you wouldn't mind getting in trouble with.

Every time I heard "if I was on a closed course," I cracked up. Lucky is awesome.
Lucky is awesome. Best addition to the channel!
best new addition to this channel is mike musto and his new show the House of muscle
Musto isn't new and his "new" show House of Muscle basically only has a new name..... plus lucky is the coolest of all the motor trend guys
michael cianci he is new on motortrend and big muscle show was great as is the house of muscle
That noise when Lucky gunned it up the on ramp! Jizz everywhere!
V8 with a manual gearbox is such a lovely combination.
Silver R Oh dentfully.

Club Sport Manuals are just so much fun in fact my mom wants one in her 2010 Chevy Camaro RS with a 304 HP V6 with 278 Ibs of torque.
Any Mum who drives a manual gets points as far as I'm concerned! Part of the pleasure of driving....

Wouldn't mind paying$1000 for an aluminum 6.0 ltr.. And$1200 for a t56... Sheesh... Nice come up!👍
Lucky is so cool he LET a street outlaw racer win. That's badass.
That's a good deal but if you look around you can find one for that price.
looks for the ly6's they average for about a grand at junkyards

What I love most about that car is that it's a real, honest to god daily---it's not just his hot rod, he drives it everywhere.
gotta love lucky. its good to see a regular guy doing cool things in the automotive world.
I think if I knew Lucky we would be good friends...
Agreed; I love this guy. The producers need to realize this guy can carry the show so give more screen time or give him his own show.
ya he's so much more interesting and non-annoying than Carlos. i really don't see how Carlos is so popular
Man that's a beautiful looking Chevelle and the 6.0L LS motor sounds like a beast. This car looks wayyyy better than any thing you see on the road today.

MOAR LUCKY!!!! Please?
A 1966 Chevelle is one of my absolute dream cars, love that kind of body style
@ 6:11 goes from sketchy 1st gear start to 2nd gear clutch kick.
Lucky is so good on camera, he steals the show every time. MT needs to give him his own series, where he can chill and just be himself.
Lucky is the man, love that ride. Glad he is part of the team at hot rod garage.
keep up the good work Lucky!

'67 is my fav... but VERR NIICE!!! Someday!!
What is that red button wired to on the stick shift knob for?
If I remember right, its a solenoid that activates his front brakes but not his rears, so he can do easy burnouts.
Ahhhh... line lock. Got it! Thanks!
6PrinceofDarkness6 it's really more for taking off on a hill but does help with the burnouts. Lol.
What shifter is that?
Best damn show on MTOD
Great video. My style of build/car. Love the grass roots builds. I'm in the midst of something similar right now. Hope you do another video of this car, I spied some other trick things that I'd like to know more about.
Where is Lago's 240SS? I miss it!
Motor Trend sold it when he originally left the company.
Really? That's a shame!
