There is definitely a thing to daily driving a monster that you build yourself that makes you not care about the things that those new 100% comfort 0% thrill rolling house notes called "trucks" have.
Old manual trucks have a soul. I owned a f150 i6 5speed and it was fun. Now owning 580hp at the wheels monster is a dream.
Truck sounds kickass, I met John at Great Lakes dragaway at midnite drags very cool dude, he was checking out my 1972 Chevy c-10 and he put me in the magazine doing a burnout in Jan issue 2016 which I never thought I would be in car craft but I was very thankful he put me in it, he is a super cool, down to earth guy, thanks again John I was famous for a week with all my car buddies being in the mag, can't wait to see what you do to the truck next, Andy Deuster, Palmyra,wis

Wow, that truck is perfect the way it is. Love the original steering wheel. Please don't change too much in the future. Gauges that work with an old school interior is about all I would look at doing

Really loved the exterior and engine bay shots.
I still have my grandpa's truck that he gave me when I turned 16, a 1977 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive Chevy. smartly I quickly threw a built big block 402 in it. it had glass-packs on it, sounded the same way when shifting, it sure wouldn't shift the same as a T56 though. but that baby would scream and it would run with a lot of the cars around with no other changes in it. we even took it to the Local 1/8th Mile drag strip on test and tune nights just to see, the best it ever ran was real low 10's, maybe a high 9. I hope to resurrect it some day. Great memories!

This may not be fair, but I would never have imagined Lago in a truck like this. He has a more cultured Motor Trend persona in other videos. This is a great one though!
Seeing someone who usually drives lambos or pagani zondas or sort, driving a 67 c10 with manual steering, manual transmision with a long lever, floor mounted shifter. makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. and i totally love the exaust note!

Just got re-inspired: Just finished doing a grip of work to my '72 IH pickup. Had the throw out bearing start making noise and a bad lifter noise (rebuilt 258). Still putting the exhaust back together. Was about to throw in the towel. Saw this and if I can't locate a t/o bearing for less than a limb, maybe it's time for an overdrive trans. Bad lifter? Good excuse as any to add a performance cam kit. Then I can get back to setting up the turbo. Not looking for 700+ hp, 300+ft/lbs will work though. Thanks guys!

PAKTRA PRODUCTIONS honestly its probably because of the rear end, with that much power you need a hardcore rear end which could also lose more power than a smaller one
Average driveline loss is a known 15 to 20 percent of your power. This truck has a manual gearbox (so no torque converter) and a heavy ass rear end. 580whp taint tea bag.
These trucks (I think this one is a long box) weigh about 3600 pounds. With 580whp and perfect conditions were talking about a 10.5ish at 125mph. That's pretty fucking quick for a pickup truck.
The more power you make, the more heat and friction you generate through the drivetrain, which essentially equates to "losing" power at the wheels.
More hoony, less talky.

elesjuan I just got MTOD and was super disappointed. The daily extras aren't even daily, just on the weekdays and 9/10 of them are terrible. Not even worth watching. Wish they had a flat fee for just roadkill and hotrod. The rest of the channel is useless.

For everyone complaining about drive train power loss, it is 19%. That is in the normal range of 15-20%.

oil pressure, water temp? both of those would bother me to be without especially on a motor that cost that much. i couldn't care less about tach or gas gauge or speedometer
It looks like he has 2 gauges mounted up in the center, most likely oil pressure and water temp. I don't think he's dumb enough to not monitor the engine vitals.

We have a pretty unique C10 at Forsyth County Customs.
It has a Mopar 440 with about 500 hp. Check them out. They do retro mods and some SERIOUSLY cool builds.
Not to mention the Nitrous System...
