Bought the CX-30 after also test driving the Crosstrek, Kona and Cross. CX-30 is really the best overall.

I just got back into a CX30 after my Crosstrek was totaled and I have to say this car just suits me better. Visibility and cargo space are vastly deficient when compared to the Subaru but everything else is so good that I’m willing to overlook those. Rotary dial can take some getting used to but I prefer it over fumbling with knobs and buttons while I’m driving. Some things don’t make sense like not being able to cycle thru your radio presets at the press of a steering wheel mounted button. But these are relatively small complaints for me. The last thing I’ll say about this car that the reviewer didn’t focus on…the absolutely stellar feel of the materials in the cabin. I don’t just mean the materials but how they feel when you operate levers, handles, knobs, gear shifters….everything operates with feels that are satisfying, cushiony and never jarring. They really paid attention to every detail as far as the feel, fit l, and finish are concerned.

The outward view is no problem whatsoever. Visibility is great all around, especially if you know how to use the mirrors

i got a 23' CX-30 Turbo in Black Exterior/Red Leather interior. THIS is the spec to get. I say this in basically all the CX-30 vids on YT, but Mazda blessed us with a mini Japanese Porsche Macan lite. all for under $40k CAD MSRP. zoom fkn zoom.

Very nice! I couldn't afford the Turbo, but the regular 2.5l engine is still enjoyable to drive.

@Wigglythegreat2 despite being the non-turbo, it's still one of the least sluggish in the class of sub-compact crossover.

I've had my 2022 CX-30 Carbon Edition (non-turbo engine) for 19 months thus far. No problems, issues or complaints to report, other than I had to black-out additional portions of the vehicle to make that thick body cladding look palatable to me & properly integrated into the vehicle design. This is my first Mazda & I've come to believe that they build better ICE vehicles than either Toyota or Honda these days.

I was hesitant about the rotary dial at first but now that i am used to it i prefer it A LOT over a touch screen. When in motion it is vastly superior to a touch screen and i needn't move my hand at all to do what i want or need. While i agree the side windows are too small i find the visibility rearward and fwd to be similar to many other sub compact suvs. You carp about the visibility issues with the cx 30 but then recommend the 3 hatch which has abysmal rearward visibility...so...which is it?

@@matthewgarcia920 high mileage and was needing a new evaporator core bc the windows would fog up inside when it was cold. Figured it was better to trade in then continue to dump money into it. My Mazda is faster, has AWD, nicer interior/infotainment, and has a very nice, long warranty…. Also, I like hatchbacks. Makes it easy for pet transport.
Was thinking of getting the Audi Q3, but would have been 10k more for the same car with fewer included options.

You´re so lucky in North America and Canada. You can have the 2.5L Turbo. In Europe you can only have 2L with maximum 186HP and nothing more. I would like to have the 2.5L Turbo with 250HP. That´s enough to drive smoothly and sometimes little bit faster. For me the CX-30 is the perfect Car. I love it to drive. I have the 2.0L Skyactive -X Motor and 186HP and the 6MT. I drive my car since 2 years and have driven 28300km.

I have to say something to Mazda. I really like what you're doing here stick to design quality and excellent drive experience. But yet regarding the infotainment system. The upper hand goes to the consumers who hands you over a check buying your product. Or getting themselves in dept to buy your product. Only one thing give the consumer the choice. Thank you for the review. Oh by the way that apply to all cars manufacturers.

The thing about picking the right car, truck, suv is that everyone may have a different opinion about the car. Things is you really have to experience the ride yourself and also be ready to fix whatever is wrong with it. A plus would be upgraded parts for the car, truck, or suv you purchase. Like if it has a bad motor or transmission upgraded better quality parts should be made to compensate for the first poor design. And should be corrected with a new build instead of going back to what they used at first.
