A German financed, Italian film, produced in Spain is the greatest American western of all time.
Thanks for sharing
We're fucking massive.
Morricone's entire budget for this film was probably less than the cost of this one performance. A true genius of film score composition.
🥰🥰🥰
@@AaliyahCapili Almost anything can be probable. So?
I may be a rock/metal guitarist, but this is my favorite composition ever.

After viewing thousands of the "reactions", you by far are the only ONE that knew the facts of the score, the composer, the 1966 movie, and the elements of an orchestra. You should be very proud!
Oh wow thanks so much for your kind words💕

He asked for a raise - and he got it.
If you look closley, the lady who is doing the wha.wha, have pistol earrings in.. And the part where the piano start is called " the ecstasy of gold "
Regarding Tuva's earrings it's actually a pistol on one side and a feather on the other, thus representing the European immigrants and the Native Americans.
Thanks so much for sharing
@@AaliyahCapili also note that Metallica has been using that intro "the ecstasy of gold" for a long time now. In your reaction to Master of Puppets in Moscow , you even heard it and commented by saying that you heard classical music.
Since nobody seems to have mentioned that this is a film score I advise you to watch the movie. It's about 3 hours long but every component is great. Great music, great scenery, great plot, great acting and great cinematography. You won't even notice that you have been sitting still so long that you are sore until after the movie has finished.
She mentioned in her intro @01:10 that she knows it's from a movie.
One of the best movies ever !

I always love listening to this. Love how they use their voices as instruments and not using them lyrically. Enjoyed this and, as always, great reaction.
Thanks so much Mr. Julian💕
@@AaliyahCapili you're welcome. 😊
Beautiful, the Danish National orchestra are one of my favourite orchestra's, listen to the live performance of procal Harem's whiter shade of pale backed by the Danish National orchestra, it's one of my favourite live performances ever.

the transition from the first part is soo good
You should listen to their score of "Once upon a time in the West" at the same concert.

the harmonies from the vocalist and the choir are very good

Ennio Morricone was a true genius. One story I read about him was he was working on a film and the score wasn’t working. He left and said he’d be back with the revised music. He returned 72 hours later with a complete score with all the necessary parts arranged and the score worked perfectly.
Thanks so much for sharing
The music was the star of the movie. Morricone also did the music to the movie - Once upon a time in the west. Another beautiful piece in there called Jill's theme - i believe.
Thanks so much for sharing
"The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" is the final movie in the "Dollar Trilogy" (The other two being "A Fistful of Dollars" and "For a Few Dollars More"), the soundtracks for all three movies are epic. Metallica have used "The Ecstasy of Gold" as their live intro music since the early days as well. If you haven't seen the movies they really are worth checking out. The music fits the movies perfectly and really adds to the character and atmosphere, they are very unique. Great reaction, really nice to see you adding more musical analysis and commentary.
Thanks so much for your kind appreciation and for sharing🥰
I think the multiple trumpets starting at 4:51 reflect the chaos of the civil war scenes from the movie - competing sounds of bugles communiicating battle plans, clearly audible to each side, and yet each with a different battle order - and in the movie - right afterward the death of the young soldier and the captain speaks to the futility of the war and I think the competing trumpets captures some of this.

When In the Marines Clint Eastwood came to Camp Pendleton,CA. And put on a shooting demonstration. He actually can shoot a gun like in his movies!

This is fantastic Aliyah - thank you for reacting to this.
The Danish Orchestra does a brilliant job, as always. Here, I have always liked the conductress and the way she reaches into the sky.
Ennio Morricone was simply a genius. He was not just a composer and conductor, he was also a trumpeter which explains the impressive trumpet parts in his music.
Without his music, those famous Westerns and also The Mission would have been less successful.
His collaboration with Sergio Leone was a once-in-a lifetime occurrence.
Ennio and Sergio brought the American Western industry to its knees. Every minute in those movies was a work of art. I could go on.... but people are beginning to yawn 😭
For you Aaliyah, if you haven't seen The Good, the Bad and the Ugly I strongly recommend you watch it. Watch out for the two words spoken by Clint Eastwood (Blondie) - "You dig" 😮
Greetings from cowboyland y'all! 🤠
check out the late patricia janeckova's brilliant versions of, 'ecstasy of gold' & 'once upon a time in the west'! patricia died last october from breast cancer aged 25!

Hi Ailiyah from the UK (Windy Wales 😊). Thanks for reacting to this but I must admit that as wonderful as this piece is I have always been in love with his other great score for a classic western, Once Upon A Time In The West, which incorporates some very beautiful singing from a mezzo soprano I'm guessing and his score for The Mission which ends with one of the best choir pieces in film; just my humble opinion 😎 I'm a lifelong opera and classical music lover and wish there were more reactors of those great arias and pieces, I've had my own classical reaction channel for a while if you fancy looking in? 😊 JB Classical although I've not posted for a while. Stay talented and beautiful!
Hello, thank you very much for taking the time to share, much appreciated🥰have a wonderful week🥰
Christine Nonbo Andersen became world famous from singing this piece. I've seen this video dozens of times over the years, and I still get chills when I hear Christine hit those high notes, singing in the upper balcony by herself.
Same. What an amazing singer.
Thanks for sharing
The Mezzo soprano is THE BEST
😊
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra has also done the score for the other two films in the trilogy, "A Fistful of Dollars" and "For a Few Dollars More" and they're, believe it or not, just as good.
Thanks so much for sharing
we all got chills from the last part
i always get chills in my spine whenever i listen to morricone's ecstasy of gold song. it's such a beautiful song. i like your honest opinion on the orchestra some know it all musicians just go along with their music vocabulary when they react to this but never acknowledge how wonderfully danish orchestra performed these scores.

That has to be one of the most magnificent and epic pieces of music (along with Also Sprach Zarathustra and Fanfare for the Common Man) I've ever heard. BTW, you are so sweet and beautiful.

As another Dane I follow these reactions, so Thank You! The hanging man is from the Story Line in the film, as Clint Eastwood, as a shadow in the background! Ennio Morricone gave a Concert i Copenhagen about a year before he died, but I could have hoped for him to listen to this full Orchestra!
Thanks so much for sharing💕

Lovely. Your reactions and comments were very good and very complimentary.
Awesome reaction! 🎵 Please also listen to (U.S.) Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings", the tragic music for "Platoon", Oliver Stones' epic movie about our war in Vietnam, & at JFK's funeral, it was played because it had also been his favorite Classical piece.
Possibly the saddest piece of music ever written.
Barber wrote a lot of other great stuff, too. I'm sure Aliyah knows many pieces.

@@AaliyahCapiliThe Vienna Philharmonic captures & conveys (Samuel Barber's) "Adagio for Strings", Op.11, perfectly in 2019 (on TH-cam, btw;)
[August 26, 2024] I liked you whole reaction - but one point - I think you're mistaken - I am certain it is an "English horn" and not an oboe! If it is an English horn, that individual would love for his instrument to get the credit; If it was an oboe, then this is an embarrassing comment!
Super sorry about that, thanks so much for the feedback and information

Sincere and inspiring reaction.
Thanks so much🥰
Just remember, people did this...a group of people, different backgrounds and nationalities, all pulling together and if ONE single note is out of place, ONE, the entire piece is ruined...I can't imagine the hard work, discipline and raw talent that goes into this, none of us will...OK having said that, this is from legendary composer Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) and among many others scores, this is his crowning achievement and many of todays composers have been heavily influence by him, legend just isn't enough, the director of this movie was Sergio Leone (1829-1989), another director who has also influenced many others like Martin Scorsese and Quinten Tarantino, legend doesn't do him justice either, both these men are way beyond that....OK the orchestra itself, world renowned and just listen to what else they have done... Tuva Semmingsen (Wah Wah) is a Norwegian Barocco and Mozart mezzo-soprano singer, she's wearing gun shaped earrings to boot! There's a harmonica in sync with her during those wah wah's and check out her other works, (Bang Bang), Christine Nobo Anderson is another beautiful singer, you have to have, besides the raw talent, an incredible amount of training to control your diaphragm and breathing to use such an instrument, the entire piece is just amazing and really is the only event I would pay a grand a ticket to see.
Oh wow thanks so much for taking the time to share all of these, much appreciated🥰🥰🥰

@@AaliyahCapili No worries :)
Great review! I have since learned from watching many reviews of this musical score that the conductor, Sarah Hicks, is from the Minneapolis Orchestra. I live in MN and I definitely need to attend one of her concerts. I “borrowed” the following from another person’s review but I think this was some excellent information …
“”The conductor here is an American "guest" conductor for this concert. Sarah Hicks is the principal conductor of the Minneapolis Orchestra, graduate Magna Cum Laud with a BA degree in music composition from Harvard University. Sarah is highly sought after as a "guest" conductor the world over and has worked with dozens of orchestras all over the word in both hemispheres.
What does a conductor do? In this case Sarah chose all of the music for this concert which centered on Ennio Morricones' Spaghetti Western movies sound tracks. She spent hours studying the entire score, making notes as she went along that she would later share with the musicians during rehearsal, She then rehearsed the Orchestra and choir sharing her vision for the various songs, what the dynamics would be, play softy here, a bit more fortissimo (with force) there, establishing what the tempo will be, applying her leadership to inspire these very "Top Shelf" musicians to project her vision of the music and concert.
Sarah does have a series of TH-cam educational videos addressing this very question that you asked: "What does a conductor do?'" She is quite an impressive young lady, very talented and, I feel quite gifted!””
The score has a pretty big influence on pop culture. A fairly recent example of a sampling is the song Unforgiven by LE SSERAFIM. Nile Rodgers contributed a lot of the vibe here and the title fanfare is particularly recognizable in the 2nd verse.

I have to say, what are the chances of someone being born with the ability to sing opera, that actually likes it. I couldnt imagine the number would be high, right?Opera is pretty niche.
🥰🥰🥰
I can name a couple if you wish. The first three names, that come to mind are Tarja Turunen, Floor Jansen and Henk Poort.
@@apveening wow. Out of 9 billion.
Will you please transcribe the non-lexical vocalizations, such as ‘wah-wah-wuh,’ that the choir sings? I enjoyed your review, it gave me a better understanding of this theme song.
This video is from one of this orchestra's live performances. The music played here is actually two pieces from the movie, the first being is the Opening score, the second piece is called the ecstasy of gold sequence where Tuco finds the cemetery where the gold is hidden. What also makes this an iconic video is that the Orchestra is Danish, playing music composed by an Italian, and conducted by an Japanese-American. Truly an international flavor here as well. Oh and as usual I am tearing up listening to this, this performance seems to truly touch me deep in my soul and triggers an emotional response.
It’s an english horn, not an oboe (notice the neck). Irrespective, the musician has an incredible breath control.
The closed captioning says "Wow, wow," and for once the error is correct.
