This orchestra does it all. Usually it's a new concert every week. They mostly do the traditional orchestra concerts with the classic composers. The Danish National Symphony is great. I grew up watching all the spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood. I absolutely love all the theme songs from them. I have the "Hugo Montenegro" version doing all the theme songs (A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More & The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Hang 'Em High) on record & on cd. It is one of my favorite albums.
You should watch the movie...the music hits so hard in the movie...besides it is a tremendous Western movie anyway. The thing is Ennio Morricone composed the score before the movie was shot just knowing the script, and then director Sergio Leone basically composed the movie to the score that´s why the score hits so hard on point when watching the movie. By the way the wind instrument in the second part that guy played and you asked for was an Oboe
This Danish Concert has now been seen absurdly 148,5 mill. times!!! The - Storyline in the Film is about a man, a Criminal being delivered for a Reward - to be hanged! And this is why "The Hanging Man", and Eastwood as a shadow in the back. It was made in a Huge Set in Spain and for Italian and German money! Only the three main Actors were American to my knowledge? The Instructor and Composer was Italian, and Classical Composer, Ennio Morricone never saw the film but made the tunes from the asking!
The hanging is reference to events in the movie. No spoilers if you want to watch it. The instrument that you asked about is the oboe (pronounced OH-bow) A double reed instrument.
Sir, they did a lot of this "spagetti" Western. But also other famous Cinema themes. "Who wants to live forever", Warriors, James Bond themes, Star War themes, etc. WARNING: they have a funny sort of humor. Elmar from Germany
it is a danish music custom to hang the previous conductor who became old and grumpy. 😂 the instrument the guy is playing with the piano in the second song is an oboe. The oboe is a member of the woodwind family.
3:00 You can always tell the reactioneers who don't remember the plot of the movie or never saw it in the first place. The cutout of "Joe Roughneck" always elicits a reaction from them.
They have quite a few, theme night concerts, covering everything from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings to Star Wars. During the Star Wars night, they even perform the original Ewok, YUB NUB song, from the theatrical ending of Return of the Jedi, before Lucas lost his mind and started messing and adding all the painfully obvious CGI elements, that stick out like a sore thumb!
Ennio Morriconne not only wrote this music, he also performed it with an orchestra, opera singers etc just like the Danes we just experienced. I recommend you experience the original on U Tube , conducted by Ennio himself. There are 2 different movies that vie for the titles of best / greatest Western ever made, and best / greatest movie ever made. Both were made by Sergio Leonnie, and featured the music by Ennio Morriconne. I have read that for one of these movies, the music was composed and recorded first.......then the movie was made around the music. ( not saying this is true, just something i have read ). First we have The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, starring Eli Wallach, Lee Van Cleef and Clint Eastwood as well as Ennio and Sergio. Then came Once Upon A Time In The West, starring Charles Bronson, Jason Robards, Claudia Cardinale in her best ever performance, Woody Strode, Jack Elam, Keenan Wynn and another famous American superstar who thought he was retired . Sergio Leonnie knew better, and asked the retired SUPERSTAR to make one more movie. This always "GOOD GUY" Superstar was asked to play EVIL personified, and it worked. Sergio was right and gave the superstar a 2nd career. To not watch these 2 movies, is like refusing ice cream, chocolate and sex with your own dream girl.
Very thoughtful reaction, thanks. Have watched the movie an embarrassing number of times over the years, so yes, the Danish Nat Symph Orchestra did a wonderfully close rendition as you said. Glad you are going to watch the movie. You will love it! Speaking of movies, sorry, no idea which orchestra did the theme song from Once Upon a Time in the West (Charles Bronson} but it is also excellent. And so is the movie if you haven't seen that one either. Both of these films are great and definitely sit-down, feet up, 'popcorn-worthy' IMO 😄
Thanks so much! I need to make a day out of it and watch both of those! I love just hanging out and having a movie marathon so I might do that this weekend! Have a great day! 😄
This was just a part of something like a 90 minute long "movie music" concert. Many of the other movie music others have referenced were done in the same concert. There is an orchestra concert series on the web and you can sign up and watch the entire concert (and hundreds of other concerts by most of the major orchestras in the world). I understand that they redid this entire concert 2 or 3 years ago (no filming or recording) to sold out crowds. I've read comments from other reviewers in the USA and other countries that they made it a point to be there and see it live on the repeat. Talk is that it will likely come back again in the future... So pay attention to their announced annual schedules and plan a trip to Europe. They have also done concerts of game music as well, and all kinds of other things. While most of their concerts are more traditional music - it seems that about every year they do something different like this. I'm sure that the musicians have a lot of fun with it - and it keeps them on their toes as they don't normally recreate many sounds used in movies, games, and other things. I've never seen an orchestra with a guitar in it before... but, it is part of the music so they hired a guitarist for this concert series.
The DR1 (and National) Symphony Orchestra is the Danish equivalent to the English BBC1 Symphony Orchestra, so it's top quality public service. So they do all kind of music including from TV, film, cartoons and video games. Their mission is not to push a special brand of "taste" in music, but all about providing top quality public service to make all who watch and listen, and not least children and younger people, get a taste for this kind of symphony orchestra music, also for educational purpose. Of cause you could go for their Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings or what have you, but they also make use of guest conductors like Eímear Noone who is actually best known for her award-winning work as both a conductor and composer of video game music. Noone's composing and conducting work includes 26 film and video game titles, including being the original conductor of Overwatch, Diablo III, Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, and not least both a composer and the conductor of World of Warcraft and its expansions. Though it's only 3 minutes long, I'll recommend : Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 // The Danish National Symphony Orchestra (LIVE)

Wow. I've only recently begun digging into my Danish roots thanks to the discovery of my late father's first cousin, whom I hadn't known existed until recently. She and her son have been working on the family history prior to immigrating to America, and has me interested in all things Danish. She hasn't gone as far back as 1448 though. I would love to know the region or town from whence this orchestra sprang.
@@ceci8556 It’s founded by King Christian the 1st. as his traveling orchestra. They are located at the Copenhagen Opera House. Did some software consultancy for them during the construction of the opera house. Visiting is one of those things you will remember forever.
No, this is the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. It's not the same. DNSO was formed in 1925 and is the orchestra of DR - Danish Radio and Television, also formed around that time. And this took place at Koncerthuset, which is part of DR Byen - the buildings of DR. They are not related to the Royal Danish Orchestra.
The wind instrument is a Cor Anglais (French for "English Horn"), which is a relative of the more common Oboe. Both use a reed to provide the sound. And the way all the orchestra members stay in unison is down to the work of the conductor, and lots of rehearsal 🙂
6:00 I believe this instrument is English Horn. It looks similar but larger than Oboe. Someone who plays reed instruments could correct me if I'm wrong. This video is from a concert where they played Ennio Morricone's movie music. Themes from movies like "Once Upon Time In the West", etc. Director Sergio Leone and his friend, composer Ennio Morricone pretty much re-defined the western movie genre in late 1960's with the "Dollars trilogy", ("The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", "A Fistful of Dollars", "A Few Dollars More". They gave us the definition of what a western film is supposed to look and sound like.
There is a short video out there by the DNSO in which Tuva Semmingsen (the "wah wah lady") and Christine Nonbo Andersen talk about themselves and this recording. Very interesting and well worth the watch. It also features a few YT reactors which must have impressed the DNSO no end!
They have done a lot of theme songs from old movies. Once upon a time in the west - The Godfather - Once upon a time in america - For a few dollar more - is just some of them. They also did some modern theme songs from computergames. You can find most of them here on TH-cam.
The instrument carrying the main tune of the second section ('Ecstasy of Gold') before the soprano takes it over is a Cor Anglais (or English Horn). It's sort of a lower-toned oboe.
You will have to watch the movie to get the significance of the hanging man. You will notice the silhouette of Clint Eastwood's character in the background. I wish I could whistle like that lady. That instrument is an oboe.

They do also James Bond 007 , Star War , and the 2 others song from the trilogy of Ennio Mariconi Once upon a time in the west the other i doN't remenber the title . . A lot of theme from movies .
In the original film soundtrack, no vocals or lyrics were added in the first half of the soundtrack; the Danish National Orchestra -- for this one performance -- added the Danish National "Concert Choir"; thus, the words in Italian of "Io Ecco" were added (in this one performance only), so that the Concert Choir members would have more (on stage) to do -- to humorous effect, at least for Italian listeners, "Io Ecco" simply means "Here I Am" !!!!!!!:):)
Amazing orchestra, would love to be in a show like that and watch it live. Thank you for the reaction ☺💖
When you get around to doing ToTo's "Africa", I'll send you a chorus that does almost the same thing with that song. It's amazing. I believe the instrument with the round tubular reed was an oboe. You recognized it when you reacted to "A Whiter Shade of Pale" but this one looked a little different. New subscriber too!
You should listen to the theme from Godfather - or - if you are in mode for something completely different - try to listen to "Tryllabundin" the Faroese singer Eivør together with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. This will bring you into the mindset of the Vikings 1000 years ago
Another great Ennio Morricone soundtrack is from the 1986 Roland Joffe movie "The Mission" (with Robert Deniro & Jeremy Irons) Not a spaghetti western but an exploration of Catholic missionaries and their role in the colonization of Brazil in the 1700s. Here is Ennio conducting the theme from the movie: th-cam.com/video/s7w-IeNR9ko/w-d-xo.htmlsi=77eFl3_LMjCkhc3N The tv series "Mozart in the Jungle" explored many experiences of being in an orchestra, whether as a musician, conductor or a fundraiser/funder. I have the "Hugo Montenegro" version doing all the theme songs (A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More & The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Hang 'Em High) on record & on cd. It is one of my favorite albums.
That’s awesome!
A tumbleweed isn't enough.
English horn. Lower register than the oboe.
@@howardbarnett6452 Correct and the English horn mouthpiece is longer with a slight curve, than an oboe which has a shorter and straight mouthpiece.
Sir, they did a lot of this "spagetti" Western. But also other famous Cinema themes. "Who wants to live forever", Warriors, James Bond themes, Star War themes, etc. WARNING: they have a funny sort of humor.
Elmar from Germany
Can’t wait to see more from them! So incredible and so much fun to listen to!
That's what you get for talking back to the conductor.
🤣😂🤣😂
it is a danish music custom to hang the previous conductor who became old and grumpy. 😂
the instrument the guy is playing with the piano in the second song is an oboe. The oboe is a member of the woodwind family.
I loved this!! Thanks so much for reacting to this!
Thank you for watching! 😁 This was so much fun and the fact they were able to recreate all those obscure sounds was epic!
😂this is my favorite movie of all time. I'm a 60's baby
3:00 You can always tell the reactioneers who don't remember the plot of the movie or never saw it in the first place. The cutout of "Joe Roughneck" always elicits a reaction from them.
That it did! 😂🤣
They do a ton of movies and even video games. The Halo suite was incredible!
Oh cool, I bet that’s awesome!
The level of accuracy was created for the original score. No budget. Creativity that is off the hook.
Though it's only 3 minutes long, I'll recommend :
Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 // The Danish National Symphony Orchestra (LIVE)
I forgot to add :
Halo // The Danish National Symphony Orchestra & Eimear Noone (LIVE)
plenty more of movie themes from the orchestra on you tube
Let’s gooo! This was so awesome! I think I’m hooked now! 😁
the movie is actualy a comendy.
a real good one!

They have done videos of Godfather and Once a Time in the West, both amazing
Makes me want a beer, a Modelo beer the #1 beer in the US.
they do it all :)
The guy "hanging out" was in fact a guitar player in the orchestra, but he missed a note - and faced the consequences.
The reason they are so good is because everyone is perfectly in sync. (Except the last musician that's now hanging ;-)
🤣😂
You witnessed the world’s oldest orchestra. The Danish Royal Orchestra has its roots all the way back to 1448.
Wow 🤯
@@ceci8556
It’s founded by King Christian the 1st. as his traveling orchestra.
They are located at the Copenhagen Opera House. Did some software consultancy for them during the construction of the opera house.
Visiting is one of those things you will remember forever.
@TS71240 Thank you ❤
No, this is the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. It's not the same. DNSO was formed in 1925 and is the orchestra of DR - Danish Radio and Television, also formed around that time.
And this took place at Koncerthuset, which is part of DR Byen - the buildings of DR. They are not related to the Royal Danish Orchestra.
I miss the days of the Great Western movie soundtracks. Even TV westerns had their own theme songs, with lyrics.
Honestly you would have appreciated & been even more impressed if you saw the movie
The wind instrument is a Cor Anglais (French for "English Horn"), which is a relative of the more common Oboe. Both use a reed to provide the sound. And the way all the orchestra members stay in unison is down to the work of the conductor, and lots of rehearsal 🙂
Thanks for the info! Yeah they definitely seemed locked in together! Phenomenal!
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is the 3rd and best of all the spaghetti westerns
treating good music with respect no matter the style or genre is key I think
💯
You should listen to Rockin' 1000! But the first one in Cesena, Italy, was epic, and all to have the Foo Fighters play in their city!
Did you see the lass's six shooter ear rings? 😮
That’s so cool!
Thanks for all that info and answering my questions! Have a great day! 😄
If you watch the movie, you'll understand the hanging man reference.
I gotta make it happen!
they did a night of Star Wars!! if you do more Danish National, please use their official channel!! www.youtube.com/@Koncerthuset
Yes you have to see the movie the haning man there is the bad over th title . The bad guy in the movie . You are not the only one to be surprise by the haning dummy Thank you for your reaction , so accurate . They do also James Bond 007 , Star War , and the 2 others song from the trilogy of Ennio Mariconi Once upon a time in the west the other i doN't remenber the title . . A lot of theme from movies .
Gotcha! Thanks for the info! Wow, they have a lot of music out there! I definitely have to check out some of those suggestions! Appreciate it! 😁
@@setonhillstudios specially James Bond 007 , a must to see only for the beginning hilarious .
The Danish Symphony Orchestra is very unforgiving of individual musicians who screw it up for the rest. Thus the hanging man.
Oh wow 😳
That is an "OBOE"
I think it's a 'cor anglais'
In the original film soundtrack, no vocals or lyrics were added in the first half of the soundtrack; the Danish National Orchestra -- for this one performance -- added the Danish National "Concert Choir"; thus, the words in Italian of "Io Ecco" were added (in this one performance only), so that the Concert Choir members would have more (on stage) to do -- to humorous effect, at least for Italian listeners, "Io Ecco" simply means "Here I Am" !!!!!!!:):)
How funny.
Clint's movie was "Hang em' high". Please take time to watch it.
Thanks for the info! 😁
This orchestra backed up Procol Harum in what I think is the best version of 'Whiter Shade Of Pale.' It's on TH-cam. Check it.
@@AlanKaylor We actually covered that here on the channel! It was amazing! 😄
Amazing orchestra, would love to be in a show like that and watch it live. Another amazing one that will leave you speechless from the Viking series and singer from Wardruna, would love your reaction on this *FMF 2015: International TV Series Gala: Vikings suite, Trevor Morris, Einar Selvik* believe me, you won't be disappointed. Thank you for the reaction ☺💖
Thanks for watching and can’t wait to hear more from them! So cool!
Watch the movie understand the hanging as the drifter with the poncho which was Clint Eastwood's character
You must watch it
When you get around to doing ToTo's "Africa", I'll send you a chorus that does almost the same thing with that song. It's amazing. I believe the instrument with the round tubular reed was an oboe. You recognized it when you reacted to "A Whiter Shade of Pale" but this one looked a little different. New subscriber too!
Thanks for hanging with us and checking out the videos!
You should listen to the theme from Godfather - or - if you are in mode for something completely different - try to listen to "Tryllabundin" the Faroese singer Eivør together with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. This will bring you into the mindset of the Vikings 1000 years ago
Isn't it strange how they do that.
If you ever watch the movie, watch the uncut version which is about 4 1/2 hours long. They do other movie sountracks.
The instrument is an oboe that you questioned
Actually it is an English Horn.
@@waltbutk Yes cor anglais
Another great Ennio Morricone soundtrack is from the 1986 Roland Joffe movie "The Mission" (with Robert Deniro & Jeremy Irons) Not a spaghetti western but an exploration of Catholic missionaries and their role in the colonization of Brazil in the 1700s. Here is Ennio conducting the theme from the movie:

As a dane I can tell you that they many movie titles
The guy hanging is the previous conductor......
They do lots of soundtracks! Check Star Wars
Also, check out "The Godfather".
Oh snap! I bet that’s GREAT!!! 😁
The second song is the last one in the movie.
One of the 4or5 spaghetti Westerns made in Italy my family's Italian director sent Clint Eastwood on his way Eli wallach and I can't think of the third guy at
Our amazing national orchestra does indeed perform a lot of different movie soundtracks.
I suggest Lord of the Rings suite next it is simply epic.
Oh I bet that’s fantastic!
@@setonhillstudios enough to make a grown man cry 👌
The guy hanging was Eli Wallach in the movie and Clint shoots through the rope. You have to watch the movie because listening to this soundtrack you will immediately associate particular scenes to certain parts of the music. Fabulous orchestra, they nailed it.
