Absolute masterpiece. this is the ONLY game i know of where the story doesnt WAIT for you. The world lives and breathes with or without you. Your lack of action is an action in this game. This was unprecedented. No other game to this day has used this.

If you like this game series then you should check out Rise of the Ronin on PS5. It also takes place during the end of the Edo Period, where you play as a ronin who helps shape a bunch of the major political/historical decisions occurring in Japan during this time depending on the choices you make. The traversal and exploration is fun, and the combat is absolutely excellent and very addictive.
Along with Sons of Liberty, this is jointly my favourite PS2 game of all time, and the series as a whole is one very dear to my heart. It feels like series such as Yakuza took influence from these games, especially the sense of humour they both share
Great stuff! I wish you had also talked about the humor of the game, since it gives you some fun dialogue options, such as being able to insult opponents during battles. Also Dona Dona basically being an inexperienced version of Afro Samurai was a neat thing.
One of my all-time favourites! I remember spamming multiple runs with the sole objective of killing Dojima, as he always drops sword oil and powder for permanent upgrades!
I was just thinking that this kind of game with combat and extensive choice and consequences would be a perfect fit for a game set in the Avatar TLA universe where you pick your bending style or combat style and chose from an array of factions to work with. Could be an interesting AA game for the franchise, especially if set in a distinctive era.
Just started playing this game after finding a copy in ebay. God damn it’s so hard 😓 Died 3 times already on some bosses. Got as far as the Generals lackeys 🤦🏻♂️
Have heard cool things about this, but I did not know it had a character like Dona Dona. I'm going to guess that despite the heavy story, it's a bit more ligthearted and wacky than I imagined it to be which is interesting, even if I'm hardly likely to play it considering the hardware it's on.
It has its wacky moments with your character appearance, but later entries get wackier in terms of other things. Haven’t played the spinoff dungeon crawler though so I’ll be going into that one blind.
The game isn't that whacky. Dona-Dona is about as whacky as it gets on a normal play through. It's not like anime where they totally break everything and turn every one in the room into a goof ball.
You’re exactly right about that and too many people are shitting on it to see how fun of an experience they’ll miss out on. Visuals has them glazing over DD2 which truly looks like the original game just with a visual upgrade. In the long run I believe this game will be more fun for people than DD2
@@kusansimpson2514 well im eventually going to get dragons dogma 2 because i am a fan of that title as well but i put it on the back burner for rise of the ronin because A; i like team ninja games and B: i low key have been waiting on a way of the samurai game for a loooong time and i hope this game covers that. honestly ppl shouldnt compare game of judge a game base off of graphics. ppl didnt know what dd was until theyre favorite streamer i.e ppl like fightn cowboy started playing it so of course its going to be the "new thing" and lets not for get pc and xbox players are salty but thats another story console wars for short. im 200% sure that this is going to be a solid title
