During their entire existence BAND-MAID has always been very distinct in their giving every instrument their due.

@@bsdsuPASTA I started my journey with you with your first Lovebites song "Break the Wall" and after seeing that was REALLY looking forward to your analysis on Band-Maid and you did NOT disappoint even to the extent of having the same opinion as me about Sai-chans delivery being that it could have been a bit more dramatic/dynamic given the context of the lyrics.

Without Miku's harmonies the parts where she sang would have been bland, I think. She really brought them up 🕊Akane was in the background, but she was always there and always doing the right thing. Calling her the driving force of the song makes sense to me. Band-Maid don't make bad songs, we fans don't give bad advice and you don't make bad reactions! Win-win-win for everyone! Nice to see Akane's drumwork and Miku's rhythm getting appreciated as MISA and Kanami's call-and-response is so blindingly brilliant that they often go unseen back there in the shadows. To shine some light on what Akane's doing (OK, that's enough chiaroscuro-based metaphors) Thanks for checking out the isolated drums video I made! Incredible analysis and interpretation - very interesting and thank you for putting in so much tie to analyse it so fully. I'd also have to recommend watching DON'T YOU TELL ME from this same concert, as there is another call-and-response section but that time Kanami starts and MISA follows rather than the other way round as it is here, with MISA leading.

Nice one. Really appreciate a high effort analysis like this. +1 for Puzzle.
It's pretty common for them to goof off on stage, like having Saiki sing and dance at Akane at the start. Sometimes they surround Akane and make faces at her. They're trying to get each other to laugh and trip up. If you ever get around to watching the official live for Play, Akane succeeds at making Saiki laugh through her lines by doing some weird poses between hitting her drums. th-cam.com/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/w-d-xo.html
Re: the crouching during the solo battle, they're on a platform in the middle of the crowd, and they're crouching so more people can see the one who's playing.
The part you identified as a normal solo is, in fact, the normal solo from the studio version. They transitioned into the solo battle (that's just for live performances) with the normal bass solo that leads into it as well.

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks, I'm happy to hear my effort goes appreciated ❤
Trying to get each other to trip up during a live performance is a baller move, massive respect! It's also wholesome as it reinforces the concept of a bunch of friends having a great time playing music together.
I will hold off on checking out the official live video for "Play", in case I get around to making a reaction to it in the near future, but thank you for pointing out that moment, I have a field for extra information in my list and I've added that detail to "Play" so I won't forget to look out for it 👌Speaking of the list, I have added your +1 for Puzzle 👍
Thank you for clarifying the reason for the crouching during the battle, it makes a lot of sense! Kanami will always be a prowler in my mind though, there's no taking that back.
They don't have the battle section in the studio version? But the live version is not on Spotify NOOOOOOO :(( I just listened to it and I am saddened. The bass solo didn't get to the part I really like either :( Thankfully the song still slaps big time, I love the way they get into the 1st and 3rd choruses and Miku's vocal parts, and, well, everything else 🤘
Thank you for all the extra info!

Your breakdowns are the best. The fact you have the knowledge of the song, like the reason why it was written and why the question mark is far above any other Reactor. Good job Master bsdsuPASTA! I also like the small chuckle at the "10 minutes of..." line. I always watch the reactors at that point to see if they catch that line. You did and I expected no less. And your follow up at the end...funny as heck!😂 From the list, you can't go wrong with any of them. If you are doing "Puzzle" Official Live MV, I suggest a two-for reaction or a back to back reaction, with "Puzzle" Acoustic Live MV. Completely different emotional feels. I would like to add another vote for my favorite song, "Daydreaming" OMV, a superb rock ballad. The two instrumentals "Onset" OLMV and "From Now On" OMV are amazing! In "Onset" watch MISA, MISA, MISA closely, as she does an amazing slight of hand trick. Keep on rocking with the Maids. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘

      You honor me 🙏
My knowledge of the song was a fluke. I was having the time of my life in the pigeonhole, reading interview transcriptions when I randomly happened upon that information. I didn't look it up to prepare for this video or any such thing. It came in handy though, I would've racked my brain over why the question mark is there otherwise 😄
The limp gymnastics line is peak 👌I will never not be entertained by it, it deserved a special mention!
The list from the video is what has been mentioned so far, I can always add other songs if someone suggests them (in fact, I've already added a couple from comments on this video). I have added a note for "Puzzle" to consider checking the acoustic version right after as well, and I also added a +1 to it for your suggestion. I have also added +1 vote to "Daydreaming", "Onset" and "From Now On". If you only meant to vote for "Daydreaming" let me know and I'll -1 the other votes 👍
And thank you for the extra info, I write those down next to the song name to help myself choose in case the vote is close (I didn't include the third field in the picture in the video).

I was there, and have heard "Hate?" hundreds of times (even with reactions), but you have analyzed this experience the best, Po! Here's some back info on this part of the show: Hate? was song #27 of 33 (3.5 hrs show). That is the incredible thing about them. Being able to keep that energy up for that long, they are World class athletes in my book (especially Akane (Drums) and #27 was shortly after her freestyle solo into Blackhole #25 (220 bpm)), Po! That's why Akane is just holding down the pocket here. Btw, Saiki (lead V) wrote the lyrics from a 4th person prospective (Cheater, Victim, Mistress, Saiki).Side note: it appears Saiki is a "The Simpsons" fan, and wanted to use Bart's "I Hate you" phrase in a song, and here we have it, Po! 🦍🍌PS, if the characters are who many believe it is (Japanese celebrity couple + Cheater's Assistant), then, Unfortunately, the genitalman in question tried to "off" himself, but luckily survived. Both the former-husband and wife had to take some time off from their celebrity schedules to heal, Po! Sadly, this happens when we think with the wrong "head."

Thank you for the kind words, I'm happy to hear you liked the analysis!
And also big Thank You for the extra lore! I love extra lore.
33 songs is absolutely MAD! Athletes is a good word and I wonder what their rehearsal sessions look like to prepare them for such a marathon.
As an aside, I started learning the guitar recently and I'm currently learning to play 8th notes (riff & power chords) at ~110 BPM, so just hearing 220 BPM drives a stake through my brain 😄
I did read the interview transcript where Saiki mentions she got the "I hate you" phrase from the Simpsons! In hindsight, I should have mentioned it in the video.
Some of the lyrics read like they're coming from the victim's point of view, but I suppose that could be a translation thing. And if the characters are those people you refer to, the line "I don't care if you die out" is quite a bit more venomous than it initially appears!
As a second aside, I recently watched a podcast with an evolutionary psychologist who conducted a study on cheating. There might be more going on to it than just thinking with the wrong "head". Human psychology is fascinating 👌

Now that is how a reaction/analysis should be done. Brilliant.
For me, the guitar/bass solo section has always been an argument, between the man & woman at the heart of the song.
They start off separately getting shorter & shorter, & more heated, until they are shouting over the top of each other at the same time. Then of course, the woman wins out, as displayed by Akane's continuing tirade in the guitar solo. How many times a day is that scenario played out, in real life around the world.
As you already have my favorite on your list (Manners/Black Hole), My next favorite would be "Freedom", live. Especially if you want to see a real drum solo from Akane.

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks, I'm flattered you liked the reaction/analysis this much!
That's a good take on the guitar & bass solo, it makes a lot of sense! It makes even more sense if we consider that women usually have higher pitched voices and the woman in this scenario is represented by the guitar as opposed to the lower pitches of the bass. That's pretty cool if they actually thought it out that way!
      Thank you for mentioning it👌
Regarding the list, the first field is how many times each song has been suggested, so even if your favorite is on the list you'd probably still want to "cast your vote" for it. I usually go with the song with the highest amount of votes if it's really far ahead. If the difference is not big (1-2 votes) then I'll select based on whatever people have mentioned about the song (which is in a third field of the list that I didn't include in the video because it's pretty lengthy).
Thank you for the suggestions, I have added a vote for "Manners/Black hole" and I've added "Freedom" to the list 👍

If this is the performance you were referring to, why do you think it would be better over the more recent Official Live version?
I have added all the other songs that you mentioned to the list anyway. The list is just for me to keep track of what has been mentioned and how many times, putting something on it is not a commitment to eventually making a video on the song, so there's no pressure to adding more songs.
From now on is close second after Puzzle and Onset shares the 3rd spot with 2 other songs (currently), so you were right on those, but Without holding back wasn't on the list until you mentioned it!
Also, I'll just mention that the only Chinese website that I can think of right now is aliexpress and I reckon that's not the one you were talking about 😄
      I also don't know what A and B sides means 🤔

another wonderful good-humoured reaciton and superb critical analysis that also conveys your love for appreciating the total aesthetic of music, lyrics and performance. may i add another aspect : the verse where miku sings 'why don't you understand me' can be interpreted as an internal dialogue of the aggrieved woman (played by saiki of course) and miku's voice is a sarcastic impersonation of the male who has been weeping and shaking etc but this does not change saiki's view of him. then the guitar-bass battle can be seen as representing the partners arguing - misa as the male betrayer and kamani hunting him down to have the last 'word' as it were.
recommendations for future band-maid reactions - the MVs for 'influencer' and 'bubble' and 'from now on'. i choose these simply because they embody the sophistication of their compositional skills in very diverse ways. others have a raft of good live suggestions - but really you cannot go wrong - they don't write bad songs.

Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words! ❤
That take on Miku's line is brilliant! She even sounds the part of a sarcastic imitation of someone else! 😂
The guitar-bass battle makes sense too, especially if we choose to dig deeper into it and consider that the higher pitched guitar represents the woman and the lower pitched bass represents the man, which lines up with female voices having higher pitch and male voices lower 👌
We might be looking into it a bit too much, but it fits really well!

Let's talk about the "dueling" solos a bit,
and the genius of Kanami's writing and composition. Instead of viewing it as a "duel", try watching it as an argument. In context with the theme of the song, the bass is the "boyfriend", and the guitar the "girlfriend". The bass (boyfriend) starts the argument by "talking shit", so to speak. The guitar answers back. The bass says something snarky or condescending. The guitar answers back mockingly. They go back and forth until eventually they are both "screaming" at each other at the same time. The argument ending with the guitar having the "final word", ending the argument with a commanding solo outro, right into Saiki's vocal where she gives us a little extra LA LA LA LALALALA! (I picture her stomping her foot down😂).

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

That's a great interpretation and a cheeky addition to the song (apparently the duel is not in the studio version :((( )!
It does make a lot of sense with the song, and especially if we consider that men's voices usually have lower pitches (like the bass) and women's voices usually have higher pitches (like the guitar).
Thank you for pointing that out, it fits really well 👌

Of course, the best souls come from the Balkans (Hi from Croatia)...
You present yourself quite modestly for such a detailed analysis, compared to numerous clickbait reactors...
The roles of the members in the songs pretty much match the position on the stage at this concert: Saiki is free, Misa and Kanami go to "explore" the world of music, while Akane and Miku are an atypical rhythm section: they set up convas in the background...Akane is the metronome, power plant, while Miku stays with her and fills the wall of sound, usually with dirty, chuggy strumming and vocals

even though i'm not maidiac, i love them as persons, their close bonds, in this regard they r probably one of the best bands ever existed. Currently watching documentary about them made by Ohrenje. Especially Miku and Kanami r 2 pillars of the band, still didn't get into Misa, Akane and Saiki's documentaries though. But i think it will be hard to overshadow Miku and Kanami. Miku is a symbol of persistance and unbreakable will, while Kanami is the one who pushes band mates to develop further continiously.
Not sure if u want to react to those documentaries, cause they r pretty long, but it's a really epic and amazing story, even if it won't get much views, at least u will be satisfied with the story itself 🔥🔥🔥

The BAND-MAID story is truly remarkable, how the stars aligned like 5 times to make the band get together and pick off. And, yeah, Miku is the heart of BAND-MAID in my opinion. There's a reason her documentary is cut in 3 parts of about 30 minutes each while everyone else got about 30 minutes total. She's a truly remarkable human being! Sorry, I mean a truly remarkable pigeon being🕊
They are all impressive in their own way, of course, and they are all required for the band to function, but I'm with you in that I find Miku and Kanami to be the most impressive of the bunch, at least for now.
As for reacting to documentaries and interviews and the like, perhaps I should try sometime? The reason I don't usually go for it is because I'm not sure if I would have anything to add to the source material, and if I don't add anything, what am I even doing recording a video 😄So what ends up happening is I watch the video without recording and I move on.
