      Wow, and here I was thinking Pau is just being very expressive when she plays the drums, but it seems what I was actually seeing was the containment seal of the drum kit stretching to its limit under the pressure of Pau's immense energy! No wonder she only plays instruments that require her to be sitting. If I get a personal diss track I'd consider that a win though.

    As for the solo, our brains have become programmed, in this day and age, to be impressed by shredders. If you don't shred you're not considered a lead guitarist. Dany don't shred, except in the example of her tapping on Z, and some of their early covers. Her Gilmore-esque passages in some of their early songs are masterpieces. I think she's dropped trying to be the dazzling virtuoso for meaningful well placed leads that fit the song. A lot of her lead work is harmonizing or adding to her vocals which she does in many of their songs which is difficult talent by itself and mostly unheard by the average listener. In this song her lead slips into a middle eastern almost Arabian modal, that's very unique and creative and moves the song into the next section of the song perfectly, but may not satisfy listeners that watch video after video of who can play fastest. Subbed for more TW....

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm a huge fan of the approach "do what's right for the song". I want a good overall and cohesive experience from the song (which can evolve, of course) and that's what I usually get from TW. If I want Flex I'll listen to Polyphia, it's part of the cohesive experience of the song when they do it 😄That said, if I had to name one The Warning song where I would expect some shredding it would be Consume, but I openly confess I am a rudimentary creature musically speaking. And I do quite like the solo in this song on its own, especially the more I hear it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard the Arabian/Middle Eastern bits in that solo!

    One thing that baffles me is, in an interview they stated that the bass and guitar tracks were laid down first which is not a common process. Then the vocals. Then....in under 4 hours Pau added ALL her drum tracks to the album. This is simply mind blowing. What i would give to just sit there and watch Pau craft all her drumming on this album. Each song unique with Pau literally carrying the melody and transitions of each song on her drums. She's such a creative person. (well they all are) What a treat this band is. Nice reaction....:)

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I watched a bunch of drumming videos just yesterday so I can tell apart the different drums in the kit, so I won't pretend that I know anything about drums, but if she really did the all of the drums for the whole album in under 4 hours I am very impressed! Creativity is certainly in abundance when it comes to The Warning. I, too, would love to be present for the creative process when they make their music. Although I probably wouldn't get much out of it without being able to speak Spanish. Not with my meager understanding of music :(

    i hear three voices in the "chanting" part... Ale is the lowest with Pau the highest and Dany right there quietly in the middle ready to burst forth... i think Ale also does some of the "don't bleed" and similar parts, at times with Pau... can't wait for some live footage so we can see who sings what... at least live... studio mix can be almost any combination...

      When discussing who sings what I mostly omitted Ale because I was thinking about characters in the song and who's the "main" vocal for certain parts and Ale very rarely does that (although her solo bit in CHOKE is AMAZING). I'm sure she did plenty of backing vocals and harmonies. That's one of The Warning's super powers, they have the sisterhood vocal buff! I would also love to see a live performance of this song so I can see rather than try to hear who sings what, but mostly, I want to FEEL this song live (as in, attend a live performance rather than watch a video). Sharks seems like it would shake my bones in all the right ways!

      I think Ale's going to be singing Don't Bleed Don't Bleed a lot in the future. Truly a group effort, but also they've acknowledged that this is the hardest and complicated song to get "right" performing this live. They need a bit of down time to practice this.

    *Sharks* to me this track seems to be another one about social media and possibly also certain well known industries... "sharks" gather around all the makers, influencers, and artists waiting on them to mess up or put out something the "sharks" can shred to pieces... maybe these "sharks" do this tearing down of others as a way to try to build themselves up? idk but yes, there are and have been shark-like people in every communications platform i have seen and participated in over the last 40+ years... Ale's bass is so menacing, predatory, and fearsome... like the bass in the soundtrack of "Jaws" but so much more rhythmic and deep 🤯 that bass really stands out and drives so many of these new tracks relentlessly... LOCURA! sonically, this track is perfect in its depiction of this ugly aspect of our society... how do i feel about this track? Lots of sharks in the "ocean" these days, it seems 🤔 I checked the song again for the bass to hear what you're talking about (because unless there's ONLY bass my ears probably won't pick it up) and, yes, that's a mean bass line! But then, the whole song is powerful, mean, and threatening. I love it! As for the misheard lyrics, I think you have managed to make the whole scene a lot more scary!

The “Don’t bleed, don’t bleed” sounds like both of them on the quiet ones, the more powerful ones are Dany. It sounds like they double Pau’s vocals in parts of the verses. They've done this live and it's amazing. Pau does the pre-chorus solo. Dany does the rest. With it stripped down for live, it's even better. All 3 instruments really come through and Dany's solo is actually a bit better, even though I love it on the official. I like a more deconstructed solo versus just shredding.

      I just listened to a few videos of 2 different live performances of this song. Predictably, the audio quality was not great, but it was good enough to prove that yes, Consume sounds amazing live! It seemed to me in the pre-chorus Dany was also singing, but as a quiet supporting vocal for Pau. Although I didn't hear that so much as I saw it. I'm guessing that's how they did "the effect". The solo is really cool as well, I like it as a piece of music on its own, it just doesn't fit in with my "go fast" image of the rest of the song. And I'll say again, the pre-chorus is the star of this song for me and that's very much the case for the live version as well! It's even better when I can see Pau singing it for some reason 🤘

    quick comment about distortion on the voice... it is possible there could be separate mics or even click controlled application of distortion... i know the lead singer for Three Days Grace has a 2nd mic mounted on his mic stand... the top of the stand having a horizontal bar with a mic on each end, one clean and one with electronic vocal distortion applied... if DPA/TW do this, i think they might go for something triggered by the click...

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, Dany's distortion pedal has many different buttons that change up the distortion (and presumably Ale's too, but I've only seen the video where Dany goes over hers). Presumably there's hardware & software that can do that for a mic as well. Or short of that, two microphones, as you said. But, someone mentioned in another commend that the pre-chorus is actually sang by Pau, so perhaps they can just filter her mic for the whole song and not have to worry about it. If so, that might even be the reason why she's the one singing the pre-chorus. Clever solutions!

  • @WaldoKitty
    @WaldoKitty 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

    *Consume* one thing i like about this track is the first time they say "you greedy little..." whereas the 2nd time is "now i've become the greedy little..." yeah... they're talking about the loop of consumption... we consume their art, they consume others' art, take inspiration from it, and use that in their art which we consume more of and around the loop we go again and again and again... then there's the part about being the driver of the machine you are forcing me to become... makes me think of labels, TV, and even like modeling careers... how they (try to) shape artists to be a certain way and all that... reading the lyrics of this and the other six new tracks, one can definitely pick out another overall story line behind each of the tracks on the album... the arrangement/ordering of the tracks also contributes the story and how it is being told... TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The way art cycles through artists to produce more art is one of my favorite concepts in general. I find it fascinating how everything is made out of parts of other things, and sometimes if art A inspires the creation of art B, B can then inspire the creator of A to make art C. It's like a community of friends unknowingly helping each other, it's lovely 😄 Though I suppose the interpretation you suggest is more insidious than that, but that's only if we assume the consumption of art as a general concept is bad, which I don't think it is (unless I misunderstand what you're saying). I think the problem comes when consumption becomes over-consumption and when "the system" starts preying on basic human programming to stimulate said over-consumption. Looking at the song as an artist talking about labels/TV/etc. is an interesting take that I had not considered. The story of the song in that context definitely reminds me of horror stories I've heard about "the industry". The lyrics of this song are certainly thought-provoking, they've chosen well to name the album after this song and use the theme of it for the cover art in my opinion.

    The repeated I-I-I seems to be some kind of clue to me. One more "I" is added in the second verse compared to the first. The first verse indicates that the subject/singer is created or dressed up by someone else (the greedy little f) for that person's use/profit/entertainment (make me be perfect for you). In the second verse the subject has learned to become a greedy little f, perhaps realizing that becoming perfect for that role can be used to their advantage. Perhaps this suggests a progression. People use us and we in turn use others. Each "I" might be a different version of the individual, or a different mask or role learned and used as we go through life and learn how to get what we want?

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If they believe that role is to their advantage, why do they call themselves a martyr (failed one)? Also they repeat "it's" 3 times in the first verse as well, would that have something to do with "the masks"? It's an interesting take that tells an entirely different story to what I had in mind!

      @@bsdsuPASTA the lyrics: I-I-I, I can't point the finger at you anymore I couldn't die as the martyr, now I've become the Greedy little f___r The role of martyr is refused. It is a lesson learned, better to be the victimizer rather than the victim. But the roles of victim/victimizer may not be the correct analogy. I see it more as developing a symbiotic relationship. Each participant is getting something. If this is a creator/consumer situation the creator is not being consumed, but their product is. They could also give it away or be put into a situation where their efforts are poorly rewarded. This gets difficult if the person is also the product, or inseparable from the product. And I think that is hinted at in the first verse (It-It-It's your machine but I'm the one running it). "I" becomes "it", I am the "it", the thing being consumed initially, before figuring out a way to benefit.

I've heard Dany say somewhere that they don't mind using "bad words", but they have to be the right words to use, rather than just thrown in there for giggles (I'm heavily paraphrasing here). So, presumably they care about the word being an F-bomb? They might opt to replace it for live performances anyway, given how many very young fans they have, but I'd be surprised if they do.

    One of my three favorites on the album! Escapism and Automatic Sun are the others. Consume has a very unique solo! The solo is quite interesting indeed, but I personally couldn't fit it with my feel of the rest of the song. Which makes me think I might be missing something obvious in my interpretation or I inserted something that wasn't meant to be in 🤔 For example, I definitely did not consider this being a song about a romantic relationship, as you see it. Does the speaker also become demanding in the second pre-chorus where she says she has become the greedy little [___]? That's an interesting way to look at the song!

    They have used a piano on stage for songs in the past but more recently they haven't been touring with one (because they limit the volume of the equipment that they tow in a trailer behind their tour bus). If they start using a piano on stage, either Dany and Ale could walk over to a piano and perform the outro. They say that Ale is the best pianist of the trio, but since Pau composes most of their songs on piano first, Pau is perhaps the least "rusty" at playing. But because of the drums in this song, Pau would be occupied. So, IDK if they plan to add a piano for any of their upcoming concerts. They might use a backing track to cover the piano or, as you say, cover it with a clean guitar. I think they may use a more accurate instrumentation that is true to their studio version for their upcoming show in February at the Auditoio Nacional in Mexico City. They have stated in an interview that they plan to perform every song from this album during that show, much as they did for the songs on Error at their concert at Teatro Metropolitan. They have also said in interviews that they are still working on the arrangements for their live performances of the songs on Keep Me Fed. So there could be an even more imaginative solution they arrive at. Who knows?

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, I imagine on most tour stops that have smaller venues or are part of festivals they can't really use a piano, but for bigger venues that may have a piano handy or for local shows they can have something arranged. I seem to recall them getting an orchestra just for Black Holes in a show in Monterrey. Alternatively, as you said, a backing track or clean guitar are probably the go-to. I do expect a piano for the CDMX shows, however. For some reason I imagine "home turf advantage" will allow them to pull off pretty much anything they want 😄
