- In this presentation, Alex shows the comprehensive flexibility and speed of Final Cut Pro X for Broadcast production. Creating a 1 minute television cut-down from the Oscar-nominated short film “Timecode” (which was also edited with FCP X), he shows how you can post-produce a complete project from start to end without leaving Final Cut Pro X.
Very impressive workflow, yet presented in such a pleasant manner. Thanks!
What an amazing demonstration!!! I've watched it several times over the years and I have to say I always find new things of value in it! Wonderful work and more creators should use this video as a shinning example of what tutorials and learning videos can be! Great job indeed!
I've been trying to color my clips forever and that info about the audio role overriding the video role was worth everything.
man....this is incredibly helpful and shows how powerful it is.
It's so educational to learn from a pro. I liked the workflow aspect of this and would like to see more of those videos.
The workflow was BEAST! 💯🤘🏾
This is fantastic. So professional.
It's amazing to know how much I don't know about FCPX :-) Thanks, great talk.
great workflow, very well organised and time efficient!
Hey man, It works great and without any problems.
Now I can say I have seen the professionals at work. Hah! Great video... hoping to learn these keyboard shortcuts and my way around FCP interface.
I really wish I was at this presentation, this has shown me so many new things FCPX can do. Thank you.
Fantastic presentation; thank you so much!
I'VE LEARNED SO MUCH!
Best video to teach you in practical way how to produce a video in fcpx.. when can we see more like this? Thanks
This is a fantastic class!!!!
Def a master class right here
What keyboard short cut is used at 7:20?
I have the same Q! :D
That is awesome! Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial.
Hi there, this tutorial was a great help, but after I've assigned Video roles to clips, their color won't show up on the time line. But under index -> roles it's visible, meaning the clip was assigned, but there is no vidual reference. Do you know, what might be wrong? I'm on 10.5.1
@@antwicurtis789 yes, if the audio and video are linked, the role color follows the audio not the video - its a bit annoying!
When it comes to color grading, are you prefer to do the COPY & PASTE type, or have you tried using the adjustment layer? If so what's your comment about that compare to copy & paste each clip?
very informative ! Thanks
4:08 what was the Shortcut?? Replace Shortcut in mark timeline
It was overwrite, which is the D key

Thank you so much sir
Very helpful, thanks
thank you very much. It is very difficult to move adobe premiere to FCP. But I'm trying
same here! Did you move to FCP?
@@duviafilms nop. Still using premiere
I didn't know Russell Crow was an FCPX instructor. Lol
Really.. I thought his name Alex as in description.
Thankx Talib Bahi..
the music is super nostalgic though..
Thanks for the video. i have learnt a few things here Great talk
Muy útil gracias 🙏🏾
Great video!
Thank you!
whats the best workflow in editing a wedding with 3 or more cameras without having to sync multicam clip ? meaning in a wedding we have portions that has no sound , and requires manually culling footage .. whats the best way to organize so its quicker to go through all cameras and dragging the clips to the timeline
surper presentation sir thank you sir
When I assign a video role (added by myself) to a clip the colour does not show in the timeline. It adopts the Dialogue colour rather. The only way I can get it to display the Video role colour is to (a) detach the audio or (b) insert the clip first using video only and then audio only. Anyone with clarifications on this matter? I posed the question in Apple forums and got the following response from Tom Wolsky " Roles are primarily for audio grouping. You’re trying to use roles as color coding for clips. You can, but it is kind of clumsy and can lead to a lot of extra work. "
Wow! aweessssommmmmee presentation! :) (Y) (Y)
thanks, he didn't trim the end of the project. when I export I always have black screen at the end of my video, can't find a way to move that damn last bar ( end of project bar). why didn't they make it movable ?
Towards the beginning of this tutorial you seem to cut up a blank timeline (I take it this is simulating cuts to a soundtrack?) can you tell me what this method is called to I can do some research on it Many thanks....
Can you tell me at what minute you are seeing this?
It starts at 4:04, you seem to have sections already cut up that you are dropping clips into. Thanks
It’s just an extended gap clip that has had cuts made into it using the blade function (not the blade tool)
tNice tutorialng ♂️. And I haven't used soft soft 9 since 09. So sorry bud✌ peace from Germany...
Ninja skills!
Wow thank you so much. how to create custom blank timeline. thank you
Great video! 7:26, what's the shortcut key?
use 'T'
7:35 so what was the shortcut?! I thought this was a tutorial video?!! lol
FC WHAT I also need to know...
It is the tilde key (looks like a moustache ~) - on a UK keyboard it is next to the Z key also sometimes up next to the number 1 key.
what's the shortcut key? from 7:26
press Tilda ~ and move.
For the part where he has to zoom in on the male security guard because the boom can be seen at 17.40 does that not lessen the quality of the image? 2 different cameras were used. How did he decided which quality to set it at?
PJ Maloney anytime you zoom you lose quality. As long as it’s not a really scaled you’re good
again I am just a beginner. I record so softsetups and a Microkorg, even use it as a midi keyboard. But the problem arrives with content
Ensinou a fazer um clip do filme, mas não falou como reverter para que possa editar, caso necessário
FInal Cut Pro X can just be called Final Cut Pro now? FCP7 is a long time ago?
FCP7 has been EOL for may years now. I loved it but it simply was not fit for modern workflows anymore. FCP X has successfully replaced it as the new Final Cut Pro.
FCP 7 still blows away FCP X, I can do things far more complex, faster & easier in FCP7 than the horrible X
great!
Awesome! The iMac is Pro??...run 5K without any problem (proxy option was in red, not available).
Yes, it was an iMac Pro. 5K playback without optimizing or rendering, and at Better Quality.
..and who is the man that appears in each on of FCPX Tour videos, dress up in the same out fit, blue jacket, light pants? Here he is on a minute 23:10
Hi Marcelo. That's Steve Bayes, the Senior Product Manager for FCP X and ProRes at Apple. Best, Ronny.
