Hands down the Magnetic Mask! I am working on a project now where I wanted to isolate a character and make them black and White while the other characters remained in color. This new function will save me tons of time!
None, really I just want to abstract common editing workflows using natural language, that's everything I want with any sort of AI tool, instead it's just a possibly decent rototool with some shortcuts. Not really what I'm looking for in editing yet.
I got so worried on the advert when I saw "Free 90 day trial". It took me a second to realise that didn't mean 'trial before subscription'... I guess subscriptions have been so in-grained in the last 10 years so that was my first thought when I saw the words 'free trial'.
This made my day and thank you for getting a video out quickly! I'm going to be magnetic masking like a maniac. And hopefully I'll be able to create a simple caption style that I can apply for social media videos.
The magnetic mask is great! Easily going to be something I use all the time. If you want to have more control over the style of the captions, you might want to convert to titles. More on that in my upcoming captions video for FCP 11. 😄🤙🏼

i switched to DaVinci Resolve one year back, after watching this video I believe Apple still not left FCPX, I have special bond with FCPX I learned video editing on it, and I love this new update.
but davinci workflow is next level , if fcpx can come close to it - i would definitely go back to fcpx as it is the best clutter free ui ux editing software

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I have honestly not spent enough time in Resolve to compare, but FCP suits my needs and workflow and I don't feel the need to change. Always interesting to hear people's thoughts on both.

Yeah the magnetic mask is definitely one of the easiest rotoscoping tools I've used! I would love to see more keyframing options. That is something we have all wanted for a long time!
the PIP effect is super useful to tell a story in a music video or doc. The shortcuts were as well. I need help with importing timecode from deity tc-1 using the tascam fr av2 . This was super helpful so I subscribed. Thank you Brad West! I want to be able to monitor background tasks (command+9) from iOS devices so I can be notified when footage has completed importing so I don't have to wait near the cpu for confirmation. maybe even be able to pause certain tasks so you can control the import telling the cpu when to transcode say if you're at the gym...
That would be handy! The closest thing to that is being notified on your phone when an export finishes which you can do with CommandPost. Having a little more control like that would be nice!
Hmmm....what is a "Role Template"? At 6:35 you briefly show a screen where on the bottom left side of the color wheels I see a view I've never seen before? I hope Apple will further improve and add features: - improve tracking (better understanding of motion) - add role-based audio mixing - add role-based automatic audio ducking - improve auto captions (it doesn't perform nearly as well as Whisper speech-to-text)
These are all welcome features, and I'm happy Apple is still dedicating resources to Final Cut. I wish they concentrated more and smacked Resolve out of the water because so much is still missing. If Apple offers a robust NLE, they could continue to upsell higher Apple Silicon chips year after year.
I agree. If they added all the features we all want (and the ones we didn't know we needed, like they sometimes do), it would be tough to compare anything to it.

Yeah the magnetic mask was surprisingly good. The scene removal mask wasn't great so I was hoping that the results from the magnetic mask would be good and it's amazing. Even with fine details. Captions into titles video coming soon!
I think the magnetic mask is a cool addition, and I'm glad they added auto captioning... but I'm giving them a quiet and slow golf clap on that one lol. That's like the bare minimum they could've done recently to try and keep up with free apps like CapCut, which I hate using on desktop, but it just works so easily at least for that... the reframing is a nice add too! good stuff as always Brad!
Hey Brad! Thanks for the video! The subtitle generation seems not to work with other languages. It always translates into englisch. I hope that will be fixed soon. Anyway, my real question is what kind of double arrows >> you use to highlight things? I have seen them in some videos recently by different TH-camrs, so this must be a well know plugin that I do not know. Also what sound effect do you use for it? Thanks so much! As a board game TH-camr the new callout feature is awesome. Always had to do it manually since for board game videos it's very important and often used, this will save me a lot of time in the future. also the pic-in-pic is great when showing pictures of board games I can do now awesome transitions with this effect!
Currently, transcribing to captions is only available in English. I think support for more languages is coming. Lets see I they gonna bring it up some tracking area stuff so we can use with titles e tracking surface as well, this is a particular feature that should come as well as the bult in rotoscope tool! Dont know of they gonna put the magnetic mask so they can be used with titles or something like that!
@@Brad_West sure it is! I still dont like it to use built in tracker, specially when the subject Goes out from the scene, or it comes out from it and enter into the scene! It really frustrastes me this kind of stuff, something that I saw the magnetic mask dont have at all, I did not tested yet, lets see if they brought this to the built in tracker? That is só much time i dont use it that I dont know of this already fixed

Magnetic mask update is HUGE!! Can't wait to test it. Just need an auto-caption patch to customizable title functionality and I won't ask FCP for anything else for a very long time.
The magnetic mask is so good. Even on small details like hairs. I would love to see a "Transcribe to Titles" option as well. Captions and Titles are treated differently because captions have format limitations (SRT, ITT, etc). It would be great to have both natively, but the free third party tool is at least a pretty quick workaround.
the most important is to keep FCPX a stable during work, not freeze or close it self. That new features are very cool and rise on high level FCPX. Im waiting for very good noise reduction filter as NEAT is.
So far it has been super stable for me. It's early days though but so far all my plugins work, n export errors, no bugs that I've experienced personally. So far so good.
This is fantastic news and a brilliant demo of the new iteration. Switching from Premiere to FCPX all those years ago was like stepping into the future. The magnetic timeline and GUI was ahead of its time and now looking at FCP11 and those new features there’s no going back to any other platform.

It’s quite disappointing that automatic subtitles are only available in English. Even when I configure Final Cut Pro in Spanish, I can’t transcribe to Spanish without it automatically transcribing to English. Imagine a Spanish track being transcribed in English-it would be a disaster. If it’s possible, it would be great if you could provide guidance on how to configure Final Cut Pro to transcribe to another language besides English. However, I’ve been searching for this solution without any luck. I’m unable to select the language I want to transcribe to. Thanks for your video.
Yeah this will surely be a knock for them. They make tons of other great products that were and are still worth the money that many people will still continue to use.

You can bake the captions in, but you can also use a workaround to convert to titles where you have more control over the style. I'm going to cover that in my dedicated captions video (coming soon). If you want to do one word at a time or animate them in, then you need a third party tool. mCaptions is a great option for that. Yes, Final Cut Pro Camera got an update and so did the FCP for iPad app. 💪🏼

Lets see I they gonna bring it up some tracking area stuff so we can use with titles e tracking surface as well, this is a particular feature that should come as well as the bult in rotoscope tool! Dont know of they gonna put the magnetic mask so they can be used with titles or something like that!

@@Brad_West sure it is! I still dont like it to use built in tracker, specially when the subject Goes out from the scene, or it comes out from it and enter into the scene! It really frustrastes me this kind of stuff, something that I saw the magnetic mask dont have at all, I did not tested yet, lets see if they brought this to the built in tracker? That is só much time i dont use it that I dont know of this already fixed

I had no idea TH-cam started doing this, but apparently AI translation to other languages has been enabled on my videos. So by clicking on the gear icon on the TH-cam player, you can change the audio track from the default audio to another language. Very cool for making the video accessible to people who speak other languages, so no third party software at work here. Just TH-cam doing it's thing. 😄

Magnetic mask update is HUGE!! Can't wait to test it. Just need an auto-caption patch to customizable title functionality and I won't ask FCP for anything else for a very long time.
The magnetic mask is so good. Even on small details like hairs.
I would love to see a "Transcribe to Titles" option as well. Captions and Titles are treated differently because captions have format limitations (SRT, ITT, etc). It would be great to have both natively, but the free third party tool is at least a pretty quick workaround.
@@Brad_West Gonna give the third party Title option a try! At least we have an easier option to do them somewhat through FCP now

the most important is to keep FCPX a stable during work, not freeze or close it self. That new features are very cool and rise on high level FCPX. Im waiting for very good noise reduction filter as NEAT is.
So far it has been super stable for me. It's early days though but so far all my plugins work, n export errors, no bugs that I've experienced personally. So far so good.
This is fantastic news and a brilliant demo of the new iteration. Switching from Premiere to FCPX all those years ago was like stepping into the future. The magnetic timeline and GUI was ahead of its time and now looking at FCP11 and those new features there’s no going back to any other platform.

Option up and down to reorder clips is how it was in FCP7. Pretty sure the removal of that was one reason I switched to resolve.

It’s quite disappointing that automatic subtitles are only available in English. Even when I configure Final Cut Pro in Spanish, I can’t transcribe to Spanish without it automatically transcribing to English. Imagine a Spanish track being transcribed in English-it would be a disaster. If it’s possible, it would be great if you could provide guidance on how to configure Final Cut Pro to transcribe to another language besides English. However, I’ve been searching for this solution without any luck. I’m unable to select the language I want to transcribe to. Thanks for your video.

Can you bake in the captions and how editable are they? Like can you have one word at a time like what CapCut does?
You can bake the captions in, but you can also use a workaround to convert to titles where you have more control over the style. I'm going to cover that in my dedicated captions video (coming soon). If you want to do one word at a time or animate them in, then you need a third party tool. mCaptions is a great option for that. Here I am in the middle of the FCP trial and was pretty much set on a purchase. Looks like this update just sealed the deal.

Então, clicando no ícone de engrenagem no player do TH-cam, você pode alterar a faixa de áudio do áudio padrão para outro idioma.
