I think you might be missing the point. I believe that it’s not for those with dslrs, etc, but for youths with iPhones and iPads. It’s for travelling light and for those with not so much money. iPhones all have great stabilisation now so the need for software stabilisation is limited. I tried it first with my BMPCC and it was not a great experience. On the other hand, I made a travel vlog with my iPhone and it was really fun.
@@PhilipCutting i guess if that's the logic then Apple shouldn't brand it as Final Cut PRO, but brand it as Final Cut or something else, as if it has Pro in the name and wants to go against other pro apps and software, then it should probably do pro things. If it really is for iPhone jockey's, they should rather improve iMovie or something similar
I actually really like using this on my iPad Pro. One thing I wish it could do is utilize the “audio mix” that you can do now on the iphone 16’s. I have to pick the mix and export the video on the photos app to work around it.
It would be lovely if we could use Audio Mix with Log footage - if there's a way, I can't find it. Also, if we could edit Audio Mix (with Log or non-log clips) in third-party apps like Premiere and Resolve, as was apparently promised in the keynote. When I import non-log clips shot on my iPhone 16 Pro into Resolve there are only two audio tracks - not multiple Audio Mix tracks to let us choose the one that sounds best.
Can we import LUTS yet ? Can we edit off of external drives yet? Without this all these cool new features are pointless if we can’t make the most of accessing our larger video files.
@@OzzySafa I think you might overestimate how many iPad FC users are lut-grading or working off of external drives. May I suggest a real computer with a real operating system. I hear there is a more full featured Mac OS version of FC.
@@ChrisLawley yes I know but you can’t directly edit off of the drive. You have to link the videos to the internal drive which only works if you have that capacity of internal storage free which is the same as the files you want to edit. They need make it work where we have bigger files than the internal storage can be edited in the app
I just started using FCP on the iPad and have been editing directly off of my external drive the entire time. I shoot video to it via an iphone 16 pro, plug the drive in to my ipad, and use FCP only off the hard drive. Works really well.
It’s never going to be for you! It’s for kids with iPads, no money but lots of passion. You can continue to carry your laptop and SSDs in your big heavy camera bag! 🙂
Hello Chris ! Once again thank you for the nice video ! I’m not at all into video editing but it is making me point out something strange that you have already mentioned in Comfort zone. I see Final Cut Pro is still not available in full screen on an external monitor whereas Logic Pro is ! Anyway thank you again and, by the way, your French sounds really nice ;)
@ I don’t see why it ain’t possible yet as when resolve was launched on iPad within a few months the installer was released Seems strange to me that apple would allow resolve to get a advantage over their own flagship editing software
@@pdcorlis If you’re a “pro”, you should make enough to cover the $50/yr cost. One guy on the 9to5 Mac youtube channel does all his editing on the ipad pro.
Still no basic support for custom LUTS. Disappointed, since that makes it a no-go for me.
True
learn how to color correct , luts is cheating , u can do what out does manual as well in the program. learn curves.
@ I’m more so talking about conversion LUTs, not so much creative LUTs. I hate Apple’s stock conversions built in to the software.
Cool and all but I’m just waiting for custom Luts and stabilization….like to me those should be basic things, no???
agreed
100% literally wait to hear those words on every update. Would come.back the FCP if it had these two
Yes the app should have dropped with those!

I really wish FCP for iPad was included for free if you have the desktop version. I’m not a fan of subscriptions.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.
Hi Christopher, thanks for all your iPad content. Is that an 11" or 13" iPad Pro you use?
Thank you for the video.
I have a question, can i use Final Cut Pro to record audio from usb audio interface?
Whats with the m4 optimations?
thanks for that!
Can you tracking the Pencil draws?!
Thanks :) it’s usefull, great work !
Does it reach the level of DaVinci, or still way to go ?

Hey question....do i have to have ipad pro? Also how do you guys get such good audio on ipad speakers?
Can you auto transcribe on Final Cut Pro IPad. I can’t find it anywhere?

Yeah external drive editting works well. LUTs, I mean come on , I'd be back in seconds once that was added
How would you compare FCP to say CapCut for iPad editing apps?
Raw video support? What about a Canon R5 Mark II?

The only update I want for the iPad is to be able to use third party plugins like motionvfx

LumaFusion is much cheaper
Also full of bugs and unreliable. They are the reason I had to work from a Mac for a year before Final Cut Pro for the iPad came out.
This video came out about the same time as the announcement of Final Cut Pro 11 for Mac. That’s great timing.
Yeah, it’s an embargo. I’ve had it for a week.

@@NolanTheInternetUser The update is for Mac, iPad, and the FCP Camera app on iPhone too. Each app is updated at the same time.
