Thank you so much for making this video!!! So helpful and thorough. You said there would be a link for a 90 day free trial to Final Cut Pro. I'm not seeing it anywhere. That would really help me figure out if this is the software I want to use. Thanks again!
This is the best Final Cut Pro video I’ve ever watched and it is going to save me so much time, and I have watched a lot of videos. Now I’m not an absolute beginner, I have been using Final Cut for two years but just basic blade/jump cuts and I just started editing my audio last month. Shortcuts tips have been invaluable. Thank you!
Your passion for what you’re instructing shows immediately. I had no idea how approachable FCPX was as it always seemed to be so complex just to get started. Now that I have it, I feel more confident in starting my journey to create and edit videos for an upcoming TH-cam channel. You’re a great teacher! Glad I found this channel and more than happy to subscribe!

This has to be one of the best "how-to" videos about a piece of software ever created. I learnt so much and the pacing was spot on. I was able to follow along and create my own test project with ease. I didn't get lost once. Keep up the fantastic work and I look forward to watching more of your excellent content. Thanks, Matt.
Already at 15 minutes and I now know more than I learned after an entire day of messing around with it on my own. Time to grab some popcorn and sit back for the rest of the hour and a half. Thanks for all the information man. Great content!
I started doing my first rough cut backwards. I look at the wave form but start at the end and work my way forward. My good takes are always my last so that way I will instantly recognize when I've already edited that part. When I did it the other way around I sometimes forgot I did a 3rd take and edited 5-10m of the wrong footage.
This video has been a game changer for me. I've been using FCP for about 7 months, but i became ready to expand my editing capacity. I learned a ton in this video, and cant wait for the advanced version to come out! Thanks guys, this is awesome.
Wow. Awesome. I watched this entire guide in one sitting. You packed everything I need to know from beginning editing in FCP to exporting the final project, and you gave me great tips for efficiency and compatibility and you even decreased the intimidation of colour correction. Thanks so much, Nolan. I'm now a subscriber.
wooow this just blew my mind, i was about go to those general slice of example to learn how to use fcp, but after i went thru with this video instead, i learned alot and i realized best way to learn is to get immersive in it and just relax and watch the teacher go through the motion instead of the typical step 1 step 2 step 3. The way you discuss and focus on key area blew my mind and i was more focused on how to integrate each idea rather than step by step, i feel very confident in this learning style now and i should apply this method and be more aware from now on.
This was the best instructional video I have ever seen, and I coach people for a living on live & camera presentation skills. Absolutely blown away at not just your editing skills, but your delivery as well. Thanks for this amazing content. Subscribed and liked. :) Also, for those reading this comment, WATCH ALL THE COMMERCIALS! This is how TH-camrs make money and if you skip all the ads, it takes away from your favorite content creator's compensation... and this guy deserves to get paid!!!
Fantastic tutorial! Clear, concise and at a good pace with no obnoxious background music. I'm a first time user of FCP so I truly appreciate your guidance. I will be returning often. Thank you Nolan for taking the time to create this superb video. 5 Stars! Happy New Year! 🙂 Cheers from Montréal.
I just started my channel 3 months back and I am soon opening a new channel. I started with iMovie and now moving to Final cut pro, this is the best tutorial to understand and it is not at all boring. Thanks Think Media for doing this. I also listen your PodCasts, they are just awesome :)
This covers a ton of information and moves very fast. It took me several hours to watch because I had to repeat things, try them myself, and do a little research so that I could understand everything. It is very dense. The host is very knowledgable and likeable.
This was so helpful and straight forward. I watched the beginning of two previous tutorials and they weren’t clear on something as basic as adding media to a project. Your tutorial was clear, concise and very helpful right from the beginning, so I watched it to the end. And I’m about to watch your suggested video. Thank you!
I don’t even have words to praise this video, to be honest. Love your dedication and passion. Definitely the best guide ever created. The extras you threw in really made my day. I hope one day you create another video with advanced topics. Or maybe a complete workflow. Would love to pay for that.
Dude, thank you. Haven’t touched Final Cut Pro in 5 years after suffering a brain injury, and when I went back to it, I lost all knowledge how to use it. I am now very much a visual learning, and your videos have been a huge help. Thank you.
this video is such a blessing! i’ve watched it twice all the way through and i continue to click back in using the different timestamps. thank you so much!!
Had to dust off my old FCPX skills after not using it in a long time. Your tutorial helped me get back up to speed and even taught me some new tricks. Thank you so much for making this video! It was super helpful!
For months I've been dreading how to edit, film, cut and everything else that needs to be done to make a good video. It's been doing my head in until I found you🙏🙏🙏I absolutely know nothing, but now I can learn from your tutorials. Thank you Nolan👍
Just want to thank you. I bought final cut months ago and barely learned to use it. I’ve been watching the video and trying the techniques while in isolation with covid. It’s helped me through the week 🙏🏻🙏🏻
WOW. I am quite impressed by this video. It is super informative and fun at the same time. Thank you for making this tutorial wholly accessible and a joy to watch!
Nolan, I've watched many videos on using Final Cut Pro and I'll have to say up to this point this is the best one I've seen. I watch videos on this topic because my skills are the most lacking in this area. Many thanks to you and Think Media for producing this video.
ALWAYS have to rewatch this video, thanks for putting the time I am sure it was exhausting filming even worse the editing too. we see your efforts and hard work
My father taught me: There are Givers and Takers in this World. You are definitely in the first categorie❤️ Thanx you so much, I learned a couple of ‘livesaving’ new FCP tricks🙏🏼 Choose Think Media, when you need a video🎥
This is exactly what I needed. I've been using FCPX casually for years to do photo slide shows but I now have a real video project to do. The section on audio and the key framing was perfect for me and has solved a problem. This has been such a big help.
I was feeling overwhelmed searching for tutorials and just being so confused and frustrated until I came across this video, thank God!!! This video is so easy to understand and to follow through. Thank you so so much for making this tutorial 🙏🏼🙏🏼 your a life saver ☺️☺️ and by the way your teaching skills are amazing!! 👌🏼👌🏼
Holy cow , I didn’t know about the .mov versus the mp4 thing ! Thank you so much for this tutorial , I have only used Final Cut for a couple months now ! Thanks again !
I’m just switching from Adobe Premier Elements to Final Cut Pro X!! I have NEVER used FC in my life!! I need an entirely new life just to have time to LEARN this product!! I’ll be spending the next few weeks to dissecting this video and all the information! Thank you guys for another awesome video!
About to edit my first vlog on Final Cut Pro and so glad I came across this video. Tons of information that’s going to make my editing life easier. Kudos to you!
You don't know how grateful I am for this video. 🥺Been putting off FCP for a few months because of how overwhelmed it is for a complete beginner like me to learn it by myself. Now I even know how to improve my audio in just one tutorial😭 You're the GOAT!
Thank you soooo much!!!! I started my Video Editing through this Video, and successfully completed and made a Spiderman Edit too, This was really helpful and informative. Thank you for providing this for free here, I have learned a lot!
You guys make such helpful videos! I did chuckle at your saying KENburns, instead of equal emphasis KEN BURNS. I remember first watching his documentaries that "created" this style more than 30 years ago.
I was watching many other TH-cam Final Cut Pro Beginners Guide videos. Then TH-cam suggested this so I clicked on it and realized this is the best complete beginners guide! The other full guides are so boring although informative. We all know how hard it is to watch anything that is more than 10 minutes long! But, he had me watch his almost 2-hour long video which means he can teach me how to make great videos!
Thanks Nolan, this was a terrific introduction to FCP for me. You showed me how to work the software, but you also showed me techniques that I can use to become more efficient in the editing process, and how to effectively use limited cpu and disk resources that will help me get the most out of the software and hardware! Thanks again, really well done!
