My MacBook and my Windows laptops are connected to my home internet router via WiFi, can I assume these instructions would work for an external backup drive connected to the router? I am looking to buy one.

👍👍 What size external HDD do you recomend ? My macbook pro has 4TB storage on board. If I format APFS and partition 5TB to time machine and 5TB to ExFat would that cover me for time machine back ups and for transfering files between mac and windows?

so it depends how much of the 4tb you actually use.
so usually you want double of whatever amount you use
