Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future….

I think overall it is a pretty good place, the street layouts and houses are very old so it honestly has a very unique and cozy feel to it, the people for the most part are very friendly but like most smaller suburbs drugs are definitely a bit of a problem, and along with that and the layout for a lot of the homes, it is kind of a hot bed for petty theft. It definitely isn't greatest place but there is definitely still a lot of people keeping that town together.

Sullen burger flippers, questionable water, and don't watch the back of most restaurants there or you'll never look at rats the same again. Cleburne 20-30 years ago was a nice little town. Now the locals are more apartment dwellers with tats and diabetes. Add in extreme heat or blazing cold, and you'll find yourself going from one air conditioned box to another most of the year. The one one shining star in Cleburne is the baseball complex and the Railroaders team.
Sounds like you described most cities in Texas. They all have areas like you described. In Texas the nice neighborhoods are getting too expensive, and new home ownership requires two incomes... Too many people are moving to Texas.

Former Cleburne resident, don't move there. Don't let the new Chick-fil-A fool you, meaningful employment is non-existent in this town. Your children's teachers can barely support themselves, how do you expect your children to make it in Cleburne. Yes I know it's cheap (spent damn near 2 decades of my life there) but it's mostly minimum wage employment, unless you're willing to drive to DFW everyday. The roads aren't great, but sidewalks are my main concern. Most roads do not have a contiguous sidewalk network. Every few lots are missing a sidewalk, and some roads don't have sidewalks at all. Woodard Avenue only has sidewalks from the schools (Cleburne Middle and High) up until the intersection with McAnear St. Meaning over half of that street, which is an essential connection for everybody walking to and from school, is lacking sidewalks. I personally almost got hit at least twice a year on the road without sidewalks. Another problem is right on red turns at Woodard and Ridgeway; they don't look and inevitably turn (or almost turn) right into pedestrians. Cleburne needs to work on basic safety issues, and I would advise you look elsewhere for the time being. I must contradict my last points and say that the school system has made some massive improvements over the last 5 years. They expanded the high school and added more careers and technical education classes. There's no work in town that'll take the technical students, but it's clear that efforts are being made. *Note: the community is loving and accepting of everyone, as long as you're a white Christian Republican. Otherwise you're an outsider (and despite over half the town being Hispanic) their police force is almost entirely white, with the exception of a couple of officers. There's a lot of work with racism that needs to take place, because as it stands, they're sweeping their history under the rug as if pretending it didn't happen will fix it. Really it allows the locals to be racist without even recognizing it as racism. There's a whole black side of town (separated by the tracks) with their own businesses, their own churches, and notably worse roads/residential housing. The African Americans left in the 1930s when agriculture died due to the drought, but that side of town is still noticably worse off (and different) even today. No sidewalks, narrow roads with no room for on street parking, and no curbs. That side of town floods every time it rains and the homes are intermixed with industrial uses.
@@thedfwhomeowner I moved briefly to Burleson (30 minutes north of Cleburne) but rents were so expensive that I made the jump to Colorado Springs, CO. Minimum wage is $12.80 but most work starts out at $15 an hour. With rents in the Burleson / DFW area being similar to rental prices in the Colorado Springs area, it only made more sense to move to a vastly safer area. Colorado Springs is safer when it comes to crime, but it's safer in general. Every city street has a sidewalk, usually well maintained. Most main streets with high speed traffic have a median, so crossing the street is a lot easier and safer. I have access to better produce, cleaner air, and hundreds of miles of open-space and trails in my city. That's recreation opportunity for me, but that's also protected land for the homeless to occupy, rather than taking over the local parks. My childhood park (only park in town) has been taken over by the local homeless population. There's no other protected wilderness for them to go to, the city is surrounded by private property, so the park is their only option. (not condoning taking over public amenities, just acknowledging the reality of what's going on).
I live in the Stetson Hills neighborhood in northeast Colorado Springs. It's better than Texas but I foresee myself moving to a smaller town in southern Colorado. I miss small town life, but Colorado Springs has definitely been a worthwhile stepping stone on the pathway to a better life.
Cleburne was considered a Sundown Town until the possibility of new people coming in became a reality with the toll road being completed. The sentiment is still there but the police no longer actively harass “others”. It’s subtler than that.

They are building residential here very quickly. The schools are being added on to very quickly. Industrial is going up fairly quickly. Retail is absolutely stagnant. No new retail coming in. The retail projects that had been approved have stalled or completely fallen through. The only retail is Walmart and a few small specialty shops. As far as the schools go they are fairly average EXCEPT their Special Education is absolutely the worst. No services, they do not follow the law and dare you to do anything. The infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired. The streets are terrible and cause vehicle damage often. They are starting to replace water and natural gas lines in the streets. Also, this county and town are 90% Republican. Heavily white Christian. They definitely pick and choose who they want here. If you are not a white, Christian, republican as long as you keep your head down and mouth shut you will be ok. I will say, I have a special needs child who has violent meltdowns and runs away often. The police, except for 1, have been wonderful with him. School resource officer? Violated his rights on many occasions.
I’m from cleburne it’s a great place but don’t stay to long I seen so many people get on meth there first 6 months living here it’s sad just to let y’all know Fort Worth gets most there meth here
I grew up between here and Saginaw and I definitely prefer cleburne, especially now that Saginaw has grown so much, I hate crowds and traffic so I'll choose to dodge meth and stay in cleburne lol.
Nice town, but not very welcoming to new residents. Wish they would take a lot more pride in their streets, businesses and buildings. So much potential.

Thank you for sharing your perspective.
Johnson county come on vacation leave on probation
Yeah?
Return on revocation
It's not that bad, people make their own choices and crime is everywhere, especially today, it's just more noticable because our town is fairly small.
I’m from cleburne it’s a great place but don’t stay to long I seen so many people get on meth there first 6 months living here it’s sad just to let y’all know Fort Worth gets most there meth here
Yikes! Good to know. How were you able to avoid it? Did you move prior to the 6 months?
I grew up between here and Saginaw and I definitely prefer cleburne, especially now that Saginaw has grown so much, I hate crowds and traffic so I'll choose to dodge meth and stay in cleburne lol.
Do Keene TX. It hasn't been done by anyone yet. You could be the first.
Thanks for the suggestion! Keene, TX could definitely be an interesting addition. 👀 What other hidden gems should we cover? 🗺️ Stay tuned!
Nice town, but not very welcoming to new residents. Wish they would take a lot more pride in their streets, businesses and buildings. So much potential.
Oh...sorry for your bad experience as a new resident. What happened?
