Feedback heard loud and clear. I'll do better next time. The intention isn't to make fun of anyone choosing to play the way they want. The "voice" is simply there to try to break up the seriousness and attempt to get a bit of a laugh in. The video's intention is to analyze how we got here, why we got here and asking the question why people would rather stick to themselves vs evolving their skillset by engaging in other parts of the game. Personally, I started to race more and more and have more fond memories from doing so. Along with other game modes. The solo way to me also kinda feels like a band aid fix from R* to avoid having to fix all the numberous Matchmaking/Balancing issues with the game. I want to make it extra clear that the changes to provide players choice is ALWAYS a good thing and players choosing to engage with the content by themselves is FINE. I personally enjoy engaging with the different modes etc and feel people might miss out, but I understand & respect the many reasons why players choose to stick to themselves. We play the same game, I stream the game on PC. I've seen it all, too.
I appreciate that you have toned down on harping on gta plus, while i am probably biased, it’s nice to not have absolute negativity about gta plus form all the gta youtubers ive had to unsubscribe form a few for just their irrational hatred at rockstar for a service that is 100% optional
The fact that these people are going against you a og player thats been here since the start is crazy. It's very fucking clear that way everything has been made "solo-able" has been killing the quality in gta. Og heists were intricate with different roles for each player where teamwork was key. It felt like a HEIST. Same with casino heist.
well when you work a job where the bare minimum im making is $28 an hour and i work on average 60-80hours a week, you do the math and tell me cause i can pay for 3 years of gta plus in one day so in my specific case yes it is worth it cause i work my ass off to make $
@@Noid dude. You can spend an hour ingame to make 1.5m. Or spend 5 dollars which in is like 20 minutes of working if you're an adult and get way more than 1.5m in value. It's worth it for people who dont no life grind the game
I watched this and went “okay fine I’ll hop in a public lobby”, spawned in the casino penthouse, and immediately heard rockets going off at my window followed by “your vehicle has been destroyed”
In all honesty I've been playing GTA Online solo for like 2 years now, and I like it like that. I know it's not suppoused to be like that but I like it.
@FaderFlosser WTF? What is this logic? You're not playing the game like I do, so that means you must be a child. I'd actually expect a child to come up with that logic. And just to be clear, I am old enough to play the game. I know most people playing this game right now aren't, but I am.
@@lampionmancz Agreed. I’m not sure what’s with all these comments telling solo players they’re “wrong,” or why they even feel the need to say that. I’m sure immaturity and insecurity play big roles in that need to prove how “ right” they are. ☮️
@@robotic-race GTA Online Fans complain about everything 24/7. Y’all are the epitome of hypocrisy like EA Fans, WWE Fans etc. Doesn’t help that Rockstar Games doesn’t communicate & only care about money themselves either. That’s why I stopped playing & stopped complaining. I play other games & only come back to GTA to try the new DLC’s & dip off again.
I became tired with Timmy destroying my various delivery vehicles a long time ago, and when R* allowed players to go into invite only sessions and sell their various products I was there. I refuse to go back to everyone trying to kill my character, even though a bonus is now offered for selling in a full public lobby. Timmy is still waiting in the shadows for me.
@@pthame They could make it 100% per person in lobby and I'd still play alone in an Invite-Only session. I respect that there are people who prefer multiplayer, but nowadays, Online just means you have to be online to play it. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to play with others. 25 year I.T. career dealing with the dregs of society ... I'll be damned if I'm going to spend my R&R time with the same type of people (which is what griefers are).
The risk is worth the reward in my opinion. I sold almost max cocaine last night for 1.1 million (it showed 630,000) with 17 people in my lobby. No one bothered me. Although there are occurrences when griefers do come after you
@@typicalfades in other words you got lucky? Everytime I tried to sell in public rooms I'd barely get out of the protected time before being griefed so I've point blank refused to sell public since then
I'll play online with people after they stop trying to kill me every 2 seconds, every player I drive by wants to either throw a sticky bomb, shoot a rocket, or just use a basic gun to kill me. but you make a really good point on the game modes for sure.
I wouldn't think of it that way. Every game will have griefers, Rockstar just made it too easy to do insane damage (as long as you have money). The oppressor has really messed up the game as well as the push towards heists and away from events and racing. I remember back in the 360 days when "griefing" consisted of running over someone who just spawned over and over again. It was annoying but you could actually get away because if you could get behind a wall you were pretty much safe. You can't escape an oppressor, it is virtually impossible, and it makes free roam not fun. Their push towards heists doesn't help with people going towards solo play. As was said in the video, what is the advantage to playing a heist with people? Get good enough (which is decently easy if you follow a guide) and you can get all the money for yourself. If they upped the pay out of everything other than heists I think people would be more willing to play things like Arena Wars or races. Then again though there are a lot of people (majority of players from what I've been) who play GTA like a job, they don't play to have fun, they play to get more money to then do nothing with because there is nothing you can do. You can buy a car, and then drive it around, that's it really. Can't do car meets or street racing like you used to because you'll just get blown up. A High end apartment isn't an achievement anymore so once you have the one you get for free with the premium edition there's no reason to want another. No reason to have fancy guns considering they don't help much, not like back in the day when having an assault carbon or rpg was a big deal because you were basically guaranteed to win a fight. I guess you can do time trials, but those aren't exactly fun and there is only 14 races total so they get old really quick. You can do taxi jobs which I find really fun personally, but they're no where near worth doing because of how little pay they give you. The game has become "Heists the game", it's not Grand Theft Auto anymore.
What would nice is that if they do something similar to mmorpg games where they separate PvP servers from PvE servers. It would be so nice to jump in a lobby where everyone enjoys the experience without experiencing brain damage from tryhards.
I started GTA Online in June of 2021. The experience of free-roam was horrible as a low level. No one was willing to help me understand what to do and i was more of a target for kd warriors than anything. I stayed in public sessions until i had grinded enough money to buy the kosaka to try the cayo perico heist for the first time in an invite only lobby. (By the way, your guide for the cayo heist is how i was able to do it solo so thank you). I can say i have never looked back since then. Being able to play how i want without having to worry about having all my time and effort blown up by some mk2 dipshit is worth it to me. Even though that does mean that there are things i haven't done since i am solo, such as visit Record A studio or all of the original heists which does suck as i would like to experience them one day.
To be honest, you only need Vehicle Import/Export and a Bunker to get rich quick. To this day, those two businesses are the only ones I use. Selling cars for no less than $100k multiple times an hour while your bunker fills up. There is no faster way to make money. Cayo Perico is only good for wasting time despite the high payout.
@froilaven I started back in '19 and grinded Gerald contact missions for about 9 months and pretty much like you got the sub. and the rest is history. I only play invite only make more money that way and a lot quicker as well, have one character my original character who is a billionaire on PS5 and now have a second character on PS4 mode who is doing very well.only play public sessions for a change of pace but not that often.
I've been playing GTA since 1997 and I've ALWAYS played GTA online in solo sessions. Out of thousands of hours of play time, I probably have a total of 1-2 hours in public lobbies. I'm on PC so I really don't have the patience for public lobbies full of modders. Lmao I really wish I could experience playing GTA with other people, but I don't have any friends who play the game.
To be honest I'm quite liking this turn of events, I have something like 300 hours in GTA Online, most of them spent in solo sessions or with a connection filter, and that's for a very simple reason: I don't like multiplayer and I never play other multiplayer games, I'm Online in GTA only because it offers more things to do than the storyline, like houses to buy, businesses to run, mission to do; if I could have a custom character and do all the things I can do in Online in the story mode, I would be playing story mode only. And yes, Cayo perico is the only heist I've ever completed and I love it being solo.
@@pirata2027 why do you feel the need to tell everyone who thinks differently than you that they are wrong, or “sad?” Just play the way you want and let others play the way they want.
@@pirata2027 Yeah so sad that he doesn't get to experience losing hours from his life seeing braindead GTA players unable to perform simple tasks in og heists, like simple parachuting during PB.
Honestly, GTA V public session has been the most depressing experience in gaming so far for me. It made me hate people in their entirety when I discovered that given the chance, they will be cruel to you for no reason at all. I'm better off in closed friend sessions.
@@manolomartinez5033 Well if people don't make difference between a programmed AI and a real person that can feel, they have some kind of psychopatic tendencies. Sure, the game is partly to blame as well but a human with functioning empathy should be able to tell a difference.
I'd be more inclined to play in public sessions, but I'm on PC and modders turn the experience into a nightmare. And not just in free-roam but also in various game modes I might wish to take part in. So, I just stick to closed friend or invite only sessions and play or do activities with a core group of friends who I know and trust.
Here's the thing: the sell mission system is horribly unfair. The defender (i.e. the person who's selling stuff) is, most of the time, encumbered with a slow, unarmoured, unarmed vehicle which must be driven for great lenghts (don't forget you're also on a timer sonny!), while the attacker (i.e. the griefer) has access to a wide array of armored vehicles (even flying ones!) which require zero skill to use effectively. Also, what are the stakes? If I get blown up while selling my product, I lose both in game money and irl time; whereas the attacker, even if he has failed, has lost nothing. Until something gets done to make this system more fair (for example using better sell vehicles), most people will gravitate towards a single-player-like experience.
Brother is saying: " I respect people that want to play solo but i will shame you for not enjoying being killed by level 1000 players every 20 seconds "
I have been playing GTA since the PS3 days. When I moved to PS4 playing in public sessions became a whole lot less fun, to the point I quit for a long time. I came back to it when I discovered I could create a solo public lobby. I play on PC now and play mostly alone with an occasional friend once in a while. I play almost every day and still find the game fun... alone.
Been playing GTA since 1997 and I've still never played with other people online. Lol I really want to, but I'm on PC and just don't have the patience for the public lobbies full of modders.
We suffered 8 years trying to find a competent random to sell or to play a heist. It's been a wild ride and the fact that they give us the choice of selling in public or in only sessions is a good choice for the player. It's been 9 years already
In a way I'm kinda glad that online has become a single player game. I mean this is an epic win for players that just want to play privately and can do things without the irritation of being interrupted by players that just want to ruin someone's day. There are so many people that come from all walks of life, that are coming off from a bad or stressful day then some idiot player comes out from nowhere and attacks you while your minding your own business. Not to mention the silly morons abusing the Orbital Cannon.
In that instance you play in a private session which is cool, but it's realistically the only feasible way to play. The introduction of the oppressor mk2 and orbital cannon has really fucked up anyone's ability to enjoy the game. I remember back in the early days of online when griefing consisted of getting hit by a car or getting shot. You didn't have the ability to speed up behind someone and shoot nukes at them over and over again to the extent you can with an Oppressor. You could actually go about your day in the game without getting blown up every 5 seconds because no one had the money to be wasting on blowing people up for the fun of it. Most people were playing the game modes because they are fun and were the best way to make money while also hanging out with people. Being skilful made a difference and you'd get rewarded accordingly. I can't easy describe how fun early GTA V online was without going on a bigger rant than I have already. If they remove the oppressor mk2 and made game modes and races give a bigger pay out, we could be back to something very similar to the early days.
@@bigmanmccheez5342I question what's going on inside the heads of Rockstar's balancing team. Why introduce weapons that have non-existent skill floor but very fucking high reward? Wouldn't that just hurt the game since it would drive players away?
This discussion is pointless, you can still find full player public sessions everyday. Who cares if a certain chunk of the community wants to play solo or with their friends in a private lobby.
Yeah briefly tho. Or they're players that don't know they can change. I logged in the other day and saw. Xx player was killed by ceo...4 times before I loaded in the game. Then I saw 8 out of the 15 players left the server right after. I bet the amount of players who play in public is a lot less than the ones in closed servers.
It always was for me, Only reason I play GTA online instead of the GTA V singleplayer is that I can make my own character instead of being stuck with 3 characters I don't like
Bad take, anyone would know that playing with randoms in this game is a pain. More solo content is for the better. It actually gives the player the choice to do it with friends or alone
Randoms are terrible in this game, yeah. I uninstalled this game like I think 3 years ago, no regerts. Most randoms in this game are either so stupid that they can't read the words at the bottom of their screens, or they just cheat and break the game. I think Gtamen kinda has a point though. It's weird that the choices are "play a multiplayer game by yourself" or "get dunked on by cheaters."
@@ninochaosdrache3189 because the best content takes more than 1 players. If you're content with solo that's fine. I play mostly solo too. But the most fun, interactive and complete content in the game takes more than 1 person. The og heists feel like something from storymode when with a good team. Different roles more largescale than any solo content
@@pirata2027 What im trying to say is that having solo-friendly missions that can optionally be played with friends is the best of both worlds, like Cayo Perico, the Dr.Dre contract, and Tuner contracts.
@@g00dw1n___9 dr dre consistently puts me to sleep considering how boring and uneventful most missions are. Cayo preps are the most boring prep missions in the game and stealth is too easy. Tuners is good.. We've had 3 years of nothing but solo content i want a new complex mastermind heist like og or doomsday
I happen to have friends, Coincidentally none of us are huge fans of spending 20 minutes doing supply runs or heist preps but succeeding in none of them because every session happens to have a few griefers with oppressors there to add another 30 minutes to every single thing we're trying to do
After a week of doing a high stress job, I want to get a drink I like, sit back and have some fun playing a franchise I grew up playing. I don't want random people blowing me up every 2min and pissing me off. To each his own. The point is to enjoy it the way YOU want.
People would play together if the game didn't actively punish players for doing so. As mentioned, doing heists with a group reduces the reward. And in public lobbies you just get spam killed by oppressor blonkers or hackers. Even racing needs to be set to non-contact to be fun most of the times.
the thing that destroyed any chance of public sessions being good is the Oppressor mk2. If we just removed that thing the game would be much, much more enjoyable in public lobbies. Also either raise the pay out of everything or lower the price, because the grind is ridiculous. Grinding used to be a few hours of races with your friends, now it's monotonous repetition of the same thing over and over again.
I think so too. They need to reward people for playing with others. But playing on PC public lobbies is not possible, because after 10-15 min of playing a modder will just start spawn killing you. Even if you change the session there will be at least 1 modder that will f your day up.( Crash your game or boot you offline.)
3k hours on pc. While i'd disagree and say pc is not as bad as you say. It does happen. In a 8 hour gaming sesh if your in public lobbies your guaranteed atleast one bad apple ESPECIALLY when you pvp
Personally, I disagree. I play solo any day over public. Public is toxic as hell with all the Timmy's griefing just because they can. I'd rather do my businesses in peace and not get blown up by some a-hole.
GTA:O being a single player is fine by me. Apart from whenever I feel like doing some racing, I go invite only. Public sessions involves people. People are dicks.
Public lobbies are single player, but with dumbass kids trying to grief you. No sane adult wanna endure that shit. What they should have done is made the game way more coop-with-randoms-friendly, like if you help someone with a sell mission you get paid or something, but instead Rockstar just want sell you dumb flying things that shoots rockets.
Tbh that’s how I feel about modern gaming in general. There’s really no way to interact with one another in game, most are either in a party, discord, just like playing alone or too competitive to have any fun. It’s hard to explain but it feels unnatural going into a game like GTA, or more general, discord server, Reddit page to find someone for online gaming. Ik it’s not hard to find people but it feels so unnatural to come by people nowadays. Not to mention the timing and partying up. It’s just so weird- it’s pretty dumb. I don’t mind playing solo but having friends to bounce of dumb jokes is just always fun. I miss when games weren’t so complicated to party up or weren’t so uptight with how you can talk to another person.
The “online” player community is the reason I chose to play it solo most of the time. There’s always someone willing to ruin your fun for no reason. I would love to be able to enjoy playing in public sessions but it’s not the case. So I’m totally fine with solo options for heists and missions. Tbh I would like if we could have invite lobbies for RDO too
The way I see it, I got a great live service game with updates every few months and I can enjoy it with my wife without dealing with people born after the ps4 launch
When you ask yourself how social the game was at some point and realize that they never tried to bring co-op events, for example, you also realize that this game was ALWAYS single player. Whoever came up with the RP idea has my full respect.
Playing in a public lobby on PC is pretty much impossible these days, and trust me I’ve tried 😅 The only time I’ll step foot in a pub lobby is to get whatever daily I need to get done and dip out, which is sad 😢
R* has time and time again incentivized people to mess with other people's stuff, being highlighted on the map when selling is a prime example. If R* wants people to bother dealing with that on their sell mission, there not only needs to be incentive, but also managable risk. Removing most of the penalty when failing a sale would be one way of handling this. However to me having the choice to not deal with random assholes or having to coordinate a heist with randoms in order to have access to the better paying activities in this game is a big improvement. Still there could and should be better incentives for playing in a larger group, but R* often does the opposite. Be it bad payouts for helpers like with CEO associates, or longer cooldowns when having a group like with hangar and import/export. And yeah, of course also the payouts incentivising against group play, as you mentioned. With how grindy the game used to be I can't blame people for having a mindset of an activity not only needing to be fun, but also financially rewarding. Then again dealing with randoms may often just not be fun for a lot of people. So while the game shouldn't incentivise solo play this much, people might still choose the same way regardless.
@@krloxvj There are many more benefits to consoles like having every new game without worry if it will run on your PC, Playstation exclusives few years before they hit PC and even some additional content in GTA like HAO and raytracing
@@lI_Speedor_Il Omg just ONE new content and better grafics that we can get with mods. Consols have one huge problem: Lifetime. When it ends, you must buy a new console again. Or, like this game, 2 times.
The option to play solo is everything. I came back after nearly 2 years off and i cant get anything done because of modders screwing up anything I try to do. And they normally affect the entire lobby.
As someone who supports the ability to do almost all content solo, I still think that as a multiplayer game it should incentivize people to play together and with strangers, while disincentivizing griefing and toxic behavior (not like toxic messages i mean like griefing level 1s with your Op Mk ii). Make the online game feel like an multiplayer experience, not just a COD DM lobby.
We’ve got a Facebook community which works towards getting people playing together on PS5. Teaming up with different people from all over the world is much more fun than grinding alone… plus when there’s enough of you, you can just take over the lobby and still get your sell bonus
Rockstar dung that grave themselves. If the community has gotten to the level they can’t live without bothering each other better play alone to be in peace
I think what he meant to say is. We shouldn’t have to play solo, because it’s an online game and we’re missing out on the true online experience. But we don’t really have a choice because of griefers. And modders, we don’t have a chance against.
The problem is not other players or even griefing it's cheating, mod menus, and God mode. 99.9% of the time I am killed in free mode it is not little Timmy picking a fight. It ends up being a God mode player w a menu that can't be damaged and ruins the lobby for everyone. Usually several such players in each lobby
Good. For every one good interaction you get in public lobbies there are an additional 20 + shitty interactions. Its genuinely not worth the headache and frustration trying to do anything. I'd rather play with my two other friends than get blown up by timmy, again, and again, and again.
people were asking FOR YEARS that the game would become more single player- friendly, I still remember how I saw players wanting to do solo heists and selling stuff out of public lobbies, now it's here, and I'm all for it. I think the biggest dilemma is on who falls the fault of a multiplayer game being pushed into becoming more oriented to a single player experience: is it Rockstar who designed the game in a way that makes interactions with others unpleasant? is it on the community itself? imo, that's the hard question
It's clearly Rockstar, because they implemented all the things that makes griefing so easy. Marking players on the map, giving you slow ass vehicles to sell your stuff, both Opressors, the Orbital Cannon, heat scope snipers, it's all on Rockstar.
@@ninochaosdrache3189 well, at first glance, yes, but both Cargo Griefing and regular Griefing were not exactly well-rewarded. if some tryhard wanted to make good money destroying other people's stuff, they'd need both luck and a lot of patience, plus, Griefing only increased the K/D and at first there is like a tattoo or something. so while R* allowed this behavior to happen, there was NOT a lot of incentive to do it apart from sadism, which falls entirely on the player doing it
It’s called preferring to play solo…. What’s the problem with that? You say get better but that’s inconsiderate to both new players and players who’ve been on the game for years and are tired of griefers, having the ability to make money offline is what would even encourage most players to then feel confident to hop back online…. And the adversary modes genuinely don’t pay shit so if you’re getting blown up trying to free roam and your only option to make the money that’s gonna allow u to buy what you need to avoid that is adversary modes… you’re likely to quit the game
Talks about getting rammed in races, “Learn to avoid them” Bro I try! They literally go out of their way to be a prick and spin you out! To those of you out there who are genuine clean racers, I salute you 🫡
This obsession people have with racing in GTA doesn't make sense, they're asking for useless content the vast majority aren't interested in and encouraging Rockstar to waste time developing something nobody wants.. If you want to play a race, it's not difficult, to, you know, go play a game actually designed with racing in mind? And maybe let GTA be about being a criminal and causing chaos and actually being FUN? I know. Mind-blowing idea.
People complained that single player wasnt getting updated, now you have access to all updates in a private lobby and people are still complaining 🤦🏼♂️
the pvp is gta online is the biggest waste of time. you will be blown up by one thousand rockets before u even see the dude. super fun stuff that’s why it’s a solo game now
I'm on PC. My options are: 1. Play Solo 2. Play online (1/3 of the players ore more are in godmode or are modders) and don't have a fun time. 3. Play online and get a mod menu for protection. (If it's required then you know your game is f'ed)
Disagree. What you see as "inherit" and intrinsic to the formula, I see as annoyance and the thing what held it back. I play again because of that. It's the freedom to play games like you want them to, instead how other people think you should play.
the major thing keep me away from playing on public session is waiting time to join a session, in worst case you will be stuck in loading screen forever bc of there are moders in session
It's fun doing missions with people and interacting but the system put in place of doing missions makes people want to play solo. If someone dies missions over, some missions don't have this but most do so you always got lil Timmy messing about dying
Griefers were, and still are as I see it, the reason I permanently quit GTA Online back then, I'm glad that solo sessions are a thing for those that still play this game.
Today, March 28th. I logged in and started in a public lobby. I spawned and got in my car to make a short drive to my auto shop. As soon as I got in the car I was blown up by a mk2 oppressor. I had to change sessions to an invite-only right after I got my revenge. Public lobbies are too toxic.
Bruh I'm 34 years old. I don't want to play against a bunch of 12 year old griefers. Absolutely not dude. I'm so thankful that GTA online for GTA 6 will be completely single player accessible. If rockstar could institute an official non griefer +18 lobby where you have to present yourself on video before you are accepted then I would LOVE that. I would love to play with people who are into the heists and want to strategize and want to kick ass together. But that's just not the reality of GTA online.
And this latest bullshit nerf to the Cayo Perico Heist is nothing but a pure punishment, not encouragement, for us for playing solo - a heist that was made to be possible solo. And they did it for the (10th) anniversary, as if it wasn't bad enough already by itself. Rockstar needs to get their heads together - some of their latest moves are KILLING GTA ONLINE, even more than griefers and shitheads in general. Just my thoughts.
Until half the player base can learn to not go overboard with trolling or being toxic because of their own personal issues then I’ll be fine in invite only solo or with friends
Over the years, its been difficult for me to play gta online with friends through heists-casino heist and since the introduction to cayo perico and future dlc’s, its been more easy as an adult to play solo imo. Now as a pc player, sure i play both solo and public lobbies but to avoid mod players messing up my enjoyment and occasional griefing, I prefer inv lobbies for the grinding with businesses
Something that would solve the issue of players choosing to play the game singleplayer would be more community integration. As it stands, crews are basically meaningless, but I feel fixing this part of the game would fix the singleplayerness of GTA Online. Some changes could be: - having tools to focus what kind of crew you want to found; - what sort of content would the crew be doing; - having a system for easier recruitment and purging of inactive members; - a game-wide crew chat to find people to do multiplayer content with; - and an option for avoiding public sessions altogether and just being dropped straight into a crew session with no invite. MMOs have been doing this for ages now. GTA Online depends too much on resources outside the game to find people you can regularly play with, and the result is most players choosing to do everything themselves.
I won't lie, I have spent a lot of time lately in just private lobbies (mainly because I'm still on PS4 and the lag in populated lobbies is crazy) but I don't mind jumping into public lobbies every now and again to either join the chaos or add a challenge to the sale and get a bonus for it.
Day one player (Lv 1134) with more money than I could spend, I really enjoy helping new players make money and set up their stuff. The only problem is, once you show them the ropes, you never hear from them again. I used to be in an active crew of 100+ with around 30 that played daily. I miss those days. When they patched the Kuruma glitch on the Pac Standard, my crew fell apart. I wish R* could find a way to help facilitate crews of active players. Maybe big bonuses for heists, races, sell missions, etc. for players in the same crew (like they do with Contact Missions).
The problem I have with the current design is that the helpers don't get paid enough compared to the host. My group refuses to play the Auto Shop contracts because the helpers don't make anywhere near as much as the host (and because KDJ and Sess are terrible). Same with the Dre contract where the host gets $1m but all helpers are just paid Contract Mission money. Same with just about every activity in GTAO. In activities like heists, R* expects the host to take a large percentage and not pay the helpers much. Which would pay the host more than doing it solo, but your friends don't get paid much and makes it an unrewarding activity to do with friends. I would prefer to play in populated public sessions, but the average player makes it frustrating. I want to play the game and the activities it has to offer, not get bogged down and killed every time I come across another player. I would prefer to have the option to chose to join a PvE or PvP session like MMOs have. I would prefer to play with others, but dealing with other players is a headache I want to avoid.
@@salmoprsure but who wants to do it twice ? Especially something like the Drey contract that takes a considerable amount of time. You can just do a heist together and make more doing it once.

Like you and many more other players, I am a veteran 2013 player and have seen GTA online change into its many guises. However, I would never agree that the game would be better off going back to those days where you had to risk your effort and time just to stressfully trying to make enough money to buy and enjoy something one's heart desires. This is still a video game. Life is stressful enough as it is. No one wants any additional stress from something that should be bringing some relaxing comfort. 3. BUT it is also true that most players nowadays are just motivated by money and/or griefing. GTA online is a very fun game as it is. I am not putting rockstar on a pedastal or anything of sorts. But one has to realise, that the game has a lot of fun things to offer, still. Yes, as you said in the 2 min section of your 8 min video, they could incentivise people to mingle more with others in order to have more fun. But that's the blip! They are people and most of them will always be more motivated by materialistic gains or any superiority they can have over anyone person. Sadly, this is how the world is and will unfortunately be. 4. are very much right about the matchmaking system though. For example, back in the 'old days'', I used to grind races because they were paying relatively decently. But racing is also what I generally enjoy the most. It was easy to get into one. Life was good. For the past 3-4 days, I went on call to find a Hotring race or an open wheel race. I waited around 8 min and none was found. But invites to heists'/setups seem to pop up every 3 min. I guess people are people. Most are motivated by superficial gains rather than fun, just like pathetic people modding in street races. Yes, the game could incentivise players to go more towards fun. That seems to work when there's triple money on some of the game modes. but...other than that, people will always want to get money to be able to drive around in their 'dream car' in their little peace garden. I am one of those people. I make money so that I can drive what I want to relax, to get away from the real world. The real world is harsh enough. Only kids and immature adults are complaining about the lack of chaos. If you want stress and chaos in your life, take up an Engineering degree or whatever.
Only time I go into a public session is to get a different color when I register for CEO/MC. That plus I just like to play and chill and not worry about getting shot at by randos while I'm just chilling.
I think it’s a good thing there’s an option to go into a public session and sell things, it gives players a choice. I’ve actually met more people who want help since the Criminal dlc, selling in a public session is very rewarding now too making it actually fun to do so. People not doing things because they don’t want to shouldn’t be punished. Sad truth is most people are afraid to meet new people, resulting in 10 CEO’s in a session with no one else with them.
I don't think it's so much a case of being afraid of meeting new people, I don't know what has happened over the course of the last 15 to 10 years in the online gaming space, but I run into far more creeps, weirdos, and just straight-up assholes than I did back in the day. I think most people are self-aware of this fact and would just rather avoid all that nonsense. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've ended up playing with people that treated a video game as though their rent depended on it....
@@Gman0387 I agree with what you’re saying, but there is a fear of meeting a creep or weirdo. Especially nowadays with how much sexual harassment goes around, it’s hard to find someone who won’t try to make you feel bad, meeting a new person who is a creep can really put a damper on your choices to meet more new people, eventually causing them to just drop it entirely. GTAO used to be filled with people doing heists and missions together, now everyone’s a little rat who bullies people for fun. It’s crazy
@@spyperz8594 For real though, and there really isn't any way to overcome that fear in this context. Video games are supposed to be a stress reliever not a stress amplifier, no rational person is going to subject themselves to dealing with lunatics online when they just want to de-stress for an hour or two.
imma start to do that, get everything i need for the sell and risk myself after in a public lobby , but i have found a way to do it, every time i feel like im going to loose my cargo , i just change lobby right away and it will be a minimun of lose instead of all the cargo, maybe2 or 3 craigs , and redo it again,, and yes , thats how i have a good bank account
I love the option to do it by yourself because now, when I get bored, doing it by myself, I can invite a friend and not be forced to play with crappy people and never actually get the full experience for enjoying some thing without having a nine finger knuckle dragger trying to help me
Good point, the most expensive online game turns into a solo game. R* totally missed the point. They spent energy to develop useless things such as the Music Locker or the Car Meet to promote interactions, they increased the high demand bonus to 2% per player in the lobby but nobody will take risk with all the god mode glitches, modders, ... When I look back I remember having great fun with people doing things together, this is dead... I now mostly make money in private lobby to buy useless cars, I'm a bum
Timmy isn't so bad.. wait till you meet Jimmy from PC.. God mode? He got it! Constant teleportation of the whole lobby to Cayo Perico Island? He got it! Trying to explode you and everyone else whilst in your apartment? He got it!... To us PC players, Solo sessions were sent from the Heavens.
Unfortunately People are a cancer. Gamers are one of the WORST communities. Trolls and griefers are rampant. Yes it’s a game about crime but I mind my business as I see chaos while driving my extremely overpriced vehicle. I’m tired of flying crotch rockets ruining my day just because they can. I paid for ME to ACTUALLY ENJOY. It just sucks that there’s no honor system, no courtesy. I say bring on more invite only gaming. Or better categories of servers to join with specific intentions and game modes. That’s just my take. Rockstar games can cause mental damage to gamers otherwise. Soon enough there will be studies on how many lives were ruined 😂
They should just implement a large safe zone and let the bullies fight each other to death outside Los Santos, problem solved. I dont wanna exit my apartment and get blown up all the fucking time.
Exactly the same relatively large safezone idea was used in Tom Clancy's The Division and WOW and it works perfectly, only downside is how big do you wanna make it
The last time I played GTA Online, you could play on private servers, but it didn't help you because you always need a lot of players in a group for most of the missions that bring good money.
Thank you for your observation on that topic. Im a noob in middle 40s who started to play GTA V online a few months ago, and for me, the solo session is the only way how to learn the mechanics of the game, and all other stuff. Public session will come at the time. Tnx for the video btw. Cheers
Wow! Who would have thought that after adding in a bunch of dumb, overpowered bullshit to ruin PVP and freemode would make people NOT want to sell in public sessions? Not to mention the enormous amount of glitches one can abuse to grief other players. At this point Rockstar has to allow business in solo sessions. The game is too broke otherwise.
Since day one… sometime in 2014 I’ve said they need to add all Online content to Single Player Story. Online is a blatant cash grab that is meant to keep you constantly grinding the game.
Honestly most of the time I play in invite only lobbies as sometimes I think there’s a bug which keeps having the online events trigger despite me turning them off
For me gta online is just an extension of story mode. If they'd updated the story content to keep pace with online additions I would've never logged on at all.

I'll play online with people after they stop trying to kill me every 2 seconds, every player I drive by wants to either throw a sticky bomb, shoot a rocket, or just use a basic gun to kill me. but you make a really good point on the game modes for sure.
Rockstar have made a game that encouraged so much griefing and ruining other people’s fun that it’s no wonder people want to play solo.
I actually like helping low levels grind to get started I have helped a few people that way
U can join random heist lobbies but it kinda sucks because some of the people are too dumb

I've been playing GTA since 1997 and I've ALWAYS played GTA online in solo sessions. Out of thousands of hours of play time, I probably have a total of 1-2 hours in public lobbies.
I'm on PC so I really don't have the patience for public lobbies full of modders. Lmao
I really wish I could experience playing GTA with other people, but I don't have any friends who play the game.
To be honest I'm quite liking this turn of events, I have something like 300 hours in GTA Online, most of them spent in solo sessions or with a connection filter, and that's for a very simple reason:
I don't like multiplayer and I never play other multiplayer games, I'm Online in GTA only because it offers more things to do than the storyline, like houses to buy, businesses to run, mission to do;
if I could have a custom character and do all the things I can do in Online in the story mode, I would be playing story mode only.
And yes, Cayo perico is the only heist I've ever completed and I love it being solo.
That's the same thing with me. I hate how they stopped updating single player.
Cayo being the only heist you've completed is honestly sad.

People with mod menus are the sole reason why I literally never play public sessions. I literally only play invite only sessions.
Yep. If we could upgrade sell vehicles like in nightclub that would be awesome.

People would play together if the game didn't actively punish players for doing so. As mentioned, doing heists with a group reduces the reward. And in public lobbies you just get spam killed by oppressor blonkers or hackers. Even racing needs to be set to non-contact to be fun most of the times.
I feel you on the racing man. These idiots can't drive. Even with GTAs simple car handling lol. Every corner is a nightmare.
the thing that destroyed any chance of public sessions being good is the Oppressor mk2.

So while the game shouldn't incentivise solo play this much, people might still choose the same way regardless.
i wholeheartedly agree with you
Gtamen: you should play the multiplayer in this online game
anyone with a brain: what about the fucking hackers and modders

Consoles exist
@@lI_Speedor_Il hahahaha And do you think people will waste money in a console just for ONE game?
If it isn't the great, incredible... SPA MAN
No because that makes it unplayable without them and there's no shortage of incompetent gtao players.
It's sad mostly all public lobbies nowadays got super griefers of all types and not much else
I think what he meant to say is. We shouldn’t have to play solo,
because it’s an online game and we’re missing out on the true online experience.
It also doesn't help that the pvp system in this game is utter dogshit.
EXACTLY
people were asking FOR YEARS that the game would become more single player- friendly, I still remember how I saw players wanting to do solo heists and selling stuff out of public lobbies, now it's here, and I'm all for it.
Talks about getting rammed in races,
“Learn to avoid them”
Bro I try! They literally go out of their way to be a prick and spin you out!
To those of you out there who are genuine clean racers, I salute you 🫡
I Love Clean Races, Racing Games Are Actually My Second Favorite Gaming Genre (My Main Favorites Are The Mob Shooters, Y'know? Gangster Games).
As a single player game enjoyer, it's a win win for me
It's Actually Sad To See That All Of This Was Supposed To Be Story Mode...
People complained that single player wasnt getting updated, now you have access to all updates in a private lobby and people are still complaining 🤦🏼♂️
the pvp is gta online is the biggest waste of time. you will be blown up by one thousand rockets before u even see the dude. super fun stuff that’s why it’s a solo game now
in solo session i can live my gta life
The MTU trick has allowed me to be a solo player for years, the qol update just made things a little easier.
I'm on PC. My options are:
1. Play Solo
Good and I hope it stays that way
Facts
Gone are the days of 20 man raids and content locked by multiplayer.
It's for the better.
Griefers were, and still are as I see it, the reason I permanently quit GTA Online back then, I'm glad that solo sessions are a thing for those that still play this game.
I like choices. Public or solo, that's a good thing in my opinion.
Good, I shouldn't need 4+ people to do anything.
Facts
Faxxx, I Would LOVE To Do The Diamond, Pacific And Doomsday Heists By Myself, If Only...
I would play public sessions if they fixed modders taking peoples ip
I completely agree yet these people make an excuse saying “it’s good” but it really isn’t 😂the Cayo nerf was uncalled for!
@@reggieps4gamer873, yeah, it's good for them because they're twisted, heh.
And yes, it was. 😔
Aww, "GTA Online Has Become A Single Player Game"?
Very good!
The more solo possible content, the better.
i agree
Until half the player base can learn to not go overboard with trolling or being toxic because of their own personal issues then I’ll be fine in invite only solo or with friends
Over the years, its been difficult for me to play gta online with friends through heists-casino heist and since the introduction to cayo perico and future dlc’s, its been more easy as an adult to play solo imo. Now as a pc player, sure i play both solo and public lobbies but to avoid mod players messing up my enjoyment and occasional griefing, I prefer inv lobbies for the grinding with businesses
If GTA Online turns to single player then rename it to GTA 5 Open and rename GTA 5 to GTA 5 Story
The amount of positive interactions I have had with random in gta online is about 0.5%
It was always a single/co op game in my eyes.
Just because you can do stuff alone, that does not mean you have to. Not all players always have someone to play with.
Something that would solve the issue of players choosing to play the game singleplayer would be more community integration. As it stands, crews are basically meaningless, but I feel fixing this part of the game would fix the singleplayerness of GTA Online. Some changes could be:
- having tools to focus what kind of crew you want to found;
- what sort of content would the crew be doing;
- having a system for easier recruitment and purging of inactive members;
- a game-wide crew chat to find people to do multiplayer content with;
- and an option for avoiding public sessions altogether and just being dropped straight into a crew session with no invite.
MMOs have been doing this for ages now. GTA Online depends too much on resources outside the game to find people you can regularly play with, and the result is most players choosing to do everything themselves.
Thank you for encouraging people to go back to lobbies. Muh Opp MK 2 and Toriie will be waiting for them.
🤓
Yet I need someone to go into Record A Studios.
I prefer invite only lobbies. Always have, always will. Although, I love a good race.
I won't lie, I have spent a lot of time lately in just private lobbies (mainly because I'm still on PS4 and the lag in populated lobbies is crazy) but I don't mind jumping into public lobbies every now and again to either join the chaos or add a challenge to the sale and get a bonus for it.
You Have A Cool Philosophy.
I get your point, but some of us don't have any friends to play with lol.
I enjoy playing solo to learn the game at my own pace. If i want to play with others I join adversary modes and autoshop finales.
I would prefer to play with others, but dealing with other players is a headache I want to avoid.
but if both players have the same busisness ,they can help out each other , dont you think
@@salmoprsure but who wants to do it twice ? Especially something like the Drey contract that takes a considerable amount of time. You can just do a heist together and make more doing it once.
@@jimmylongguns ur right men, i was taking about grinding, , because the helper dont get much , you sell , i help, i sell , you help ,, u follow
GTA Online being solo player friendly is the reason the game is still alive and playable in 2023. You're a streamer so you wouldn't understand.
I get your points, but as long as modders and grieftards exist; there's not really any benefit to hopping on a public lobby.
1. This video does very much give off 'for the sake of youtube content & money'vibes. However, I get it. It's your source of income.
It’s the players not the game
For real
Its the game; It pesuades the grifers to destroys your cargo. And shows them your location on the map.
It's so weird to care about how people play games.
Cheers
It’s sad to play alone, but it’s the only option for pc players
The game is too broke otherwise.
look ghillie they fixed the taxi god mode. pls no more salty. ily tho
@@Gtamen xD
Since day one… sometime in 2014 I’ve said they need to add all Online content to Single Player Story. Online is a blatant cash grab that is meant to keep you constantly grinding the game.
Honestly most of the time I play in invite only lobbies as sometimes I think there’s a bug which keeps having the online events trigger despite me turning them off
For me gta online is just an extension of story mode. If they'd updated the story content to keep pace with online additions I would've never logged on at all.
There was nothing worst than getting griefed during sell missions being able to sell invite only I have made so much more cash so its defo better
Good video. In public sessions, modders and hackers are ruining the experience. The servers are rubbish. Rockstar seriously need to check that
