I'm figuring out the hard way that the screws that come with the Primus door speakers are too small for the Crutchfield brackets. I wish I had known that before pulling the door card off. Just a heads up for anyone thinking about trying this install: you'll need 16 screws with larger threads!
Man this sounds awesome and looks awesome. I really want to upgrade the sound system. It's just so bad. I recently got a '16 WRX and I knew before hand the criticisms but my 2009 Ford Escape sounded so much better. Music is important to me, I don't know if I'd be able to do the work personally but there's car audio shops near me so I'mma have to check it out.

Hey buddy I have a rock Harmon Kardon system WRX 2014-2015 and did install of new Kenwood DDX920DAB and getting no sound at all. I'm guessing stock amp isn't kicking over and have tried all the harnesses that Aero had but not joy. Any ideas?
Well, I had quite the struggle yesterday getting my old OEM head unit out of my 2017 WRX. I got the top bolts and passenger bolt out without much fuss but that driver's side bolt in the footwell would not come loose. I even moved the leg airbag out of the way and that sucker would not come off. I am embarrassed to say that I ended up yanking the head unit out far enough to get my Dremel in there and cut off the metal bracket. Felt extremely unnecessary for such a simple job. I used my shop vac to blow out all that was behind the dash that got metal bits all over. I used an extension and a hammer to bend the sharp metal that was left as far as I could. The previous owner had a subwoofer installed at one point and had the head unit out to do the wiring. I believe when they put it back together that they severely overtighten the bolts (especially driver's one). I had my impact gun and breaker bars with a long extension and all I was able to do was bend the metal bracket. Somehow I did not strip the bolt. Anyways all cleaned up and installed now. I just need to get Android Auto to work more reliably.
I just got all of the same equipment for the head unit now and am waiting on the stereo brake bypass to get in the mail to finish this. Did you have a hard time finding where to splice wires for the parking brake or have a reference I could look at to do the same? Thanks man! Love the channel!
Are you planning to replace the dash corner speakers too? I am debating between getting $50 Kicker DS 2.75 inch speaker replacements or just putting in tweeters with a custom adapter.

With an aftermarket head unit the subwoofer instal is easier because it has RCA, also your new speakers will sound a lot better because the new headunit will not only put out my power but will give you a bigger range of frequencies so it will sound all around better. Plus added features like car play it’s the way to go
Where do you plug in the metra USB adapter to retain your stock ports!? I want to upgrade my head unit but I keep coming across these adapters but no instructions how to install. I want to know what I’m doing before I actually do it!
@@WRXGarage TY for this. Does the adapter connect at the back of the radio, or do you have to run a USB cable to the center console? Crutchfield told me that I would have to run a wire to the center console.
I just installed the same Pioneer unit in my WRX, but for some reason when I go to HD radio there is nothing displayed. No option to select AM/FM, and can’t seek channels.
@@WRXGarage Nope. When I select HD Radio source, everything on that screen is blank. I see 1-6 on the left-hand side. The boxes that should have AM/FM are blank and there is a right and left arrow at the bottom with no frequency displayed.

You may also have a poor ground connection that is possible. I would check that usually a black wire try to keep the radio plugged in end get a good ground on there see if that works
How is this setup holding up? I want to upgrade my headunit but I’m not sure if I should go with this or the idoing headunit. Anyone can point me in the right direction? I want it to be reliable.
WRXGarage how much help is the door speakers? I’m on the fence about that and I have a 2018 limited so my head unit isn’t to bad still don’t have carplay but the head unit isn’t back but def need more mid sounds how are the infinity’s doing so far
WRXGarage i was afraid of that if you don’t mind me asking for the set up you got wiring adapter plates for the speakers and the din for the dash with speakers and head unit so everything but the sub wiring kit and sub how much was your set up
Head unit 350, wiring harnesses were like 50 dash kit 50 sw 50 and then some miscellaneous adapters to keep the radio and center console usb that we’re pretty cheap

And isn't there a pioneer 9 inch head unit out there that fits? Think I found one Also I think the car head unit you listed says 800x400 pixels on the crutchfield website even though on your box in the video it says 1080p
I am using the amp to feed the sub only, in the future I may go to a 5 channel amp. Tweeters are still stock. They do have a 9 inch I didn’t get it because I was trying to do this as cheap as possible without cutting corners

No issues at all, each door took like 5 min to do it was super easy

I was looking at this exact head unit and crutchfiled said I could not use the factory reverse camera.

No I added and external mic that comes with the radio. To retain it you have to do a bunch of stuff so I said screw that.

650 for the head unit and 4 door speakers and the 400 on the sub and amp and box. All were used so I saved a lot there

One end connects to the port that’s the factory usb the other end is a usb and connects to the radio

Something must have gotten unplugged when you installed did you get a adapter for the antenna plug

7inches, and if you buy off crutchfield it will ask you to add it to your cart when you add the radio.

@@WRXGarage my sub is PRE-amped so I prob don't need a 5 channel amp. i think my 4 channel one would work perfect. correct me if im wrong

You can get a connector to keep it I didn’t opt for it because I never use it
