I love how morticia said " I'm sorry you feel you couldn't tell me". Rather than getting mad at her for not opening up to her. Its a nice lesson to alot of parents. Its all about how you make your child feel when they are with you. Letting them feel safe and heard.
Morticia and Gomez, in all the shows and versions they have been portrayed, they are the ideal parents. Unrestrained support. They encourage their children to follow their passions and interests. They work as a team and co-parent. They never scold or become angry towards their children - they are disappointed and treat them with respect and compassion.
Morticia had always been a good parent I like the old Gomez too as a parent I liked in the cartoon how he said what's the point of having children if they have to be at school all day XD
works for when their children grow up & refuse. REFUSE to see beyond themselves! But, they'll say ," they had a GRAND CHILDHOOD 🎉🎉🎉 I was the best!, Every empathetic ,kind, understanding, non judgemental etc. lesson I taught them...I was SOOOO proud! Seems NOTHING is remembered now‼️💔.‼️ Lessons children 🚸need to learn to carry forward🫴 A broken mom.
THE LORE! So for those who don't know, in a past movie Wednesday drew a hero in her family. She drew Goodie Addams, who was burned at the stake for dancing in the town square naked and seducing the priest.
That and before that same movie series, the Addams were actually an ancient family of witches from Sicily or Spain. So them being magick Latin sorcerers is a nod to the original comic strip and, later, cartoon. I love this adaptation
@aprilok5755 Thank you! Looks like someone got ahead of themselves while trying to spout off the "lore" 😅 Goody isn't even a name. It's a title the puritans used to address married women. It's short for goodwife. Goody Addams is just the archaic, puritan way to say Mrs. Addams 😂
@@ishitasen6 Goody isn't a name it's a puritan title referring to a married woman. Similar to Fraulein, or Frau in German. Women in puritan times were often referred to as little(child), sister(unmarried woman), Goodie or Good(married woman.)
Morticia is so good in this scene at validating all of what Wednesday says without condescending her. She asks genuine questions in order to help inform her of her abilities, and acknowledges the difficulties of being a parent to a teenager; after all parents grow up as their children do, and it’s so hard realizing that the relationship you have with your kid must change as you do. Also after this scene when they’re graverobbing together made me think immediately of the relationship I have with my own mom; she does genealogy for fun and took me to explore cemeteries with her when I was young. So seeing Morticia and Wednesday repair and redefine their relationship in this episode made me reminisce in the weirdest way about the relationship with my own mom. ♥️
Honestly the only thing i didnt liked about mortica and gomez was, that theres was a feeling of shame on what happend when they were in school. Classic mortica and gomez would have told the story about defending your loved one and fighting the "foe" with pride. Gomez would have made a show about it, jumping through the room reminicencing about morticas bravery etc. thats what i really missed.
I think the shame is that they had to hide it. In most cases, you are correct. But, what ultimately happens in this show would've happened sooner, and what we grew up watching and knowing wouldn't've happened at all.
When this show first came out, a lot of people were upset that Wednesday and Morticia had family issues because the Addams Family is supposed to be a perfect family that never fights with each other. However, that's not healthy, and showing that even a close-knit family has problems sometimes is really important, especially since they are able to talk things out in a healthy way and address their issues with each other.
which is interesting because in the original show, it was shown Morticia and her mom having some difficulties because Mortica was so different from her family. also in most earlier versions wednesy was either a child or a preteen and is now a full teenager.
I kind of disagree, I feel like all versions of the addams family cartoon and TV had a lot of discord in the family, The '90s versions obviously even the more modern cartoon ones, Wednesday happy beef with her family. But this version is so cheesy dramatic you know. Like that cheesy dramatic drama they put in every TV show it doesn't fit with the Addams family core. And it kind of also made the acting kind of cheesy as a result of the poorly written script. A part of The Addams family shtick is their happiness kindness over the top differences from the people around them. It's kind of the fantasy that makes the character's great. But bringing them into this modern day stuff where it's drama for the sake of drama it just sucks the fun And authenticity of The Addams family storyline. And Netflix has a way of just making great things poorly😂. Maybe in the future Another company will bring back the fantasy joy and fun of The Addams family
Catherine Zeta-Jones is an awesome Morticia, so this is nothing against her as the actress, but I really wish they would have kept the iconic bold red lipstick.
Am i the only one who still cant believe she's welsh? She has all the elegance, fire and zing of the mediteranean, yet she is welsh as Barry Peir... it blows my mind.
@@chloeauberger727 I think i get what theyre trying to say. Sticking to stereotypes and only talking about the Mediterranean and the Uk, people usually associate romantic beauty essence with the Mediterranean...and ethereal beauty essence with the Uk. And again only talking about these two places bc they were the only ones mentioned, i know theres the entire world left xD.
I wanted to like this but it's just .... It doesn't embody.... Addams we know and love. It just feels Like they're cosplaying The Addams family while the writers, adding this cheesy modern day twist stuff that a lot of shows are doing. It just doesn't feel like authentic Addams. It feels like Netflix Addams😂😂😂 You know what I mean😂 the acting here was... Just cheesy to me.
Supernatural not so much, but Grandmama (Morticia's mother and Wednesday's grandmother) has been a practicing witch in many stories. I just don't know if Grandmama is in this story.
i don't think you'll regret it unless you want copies of the originals. sadly gomez is too passive but the actor was perfect based on the original cartoons enjoy it for what it is
Appreciate all the actors but they didn't have to rewrite character behavior just to do their story, they could've rewritten their story to fit the characters. Hand isn't some scarred up thing, he was vain, liked looking nice. And the family drama BS is exactly that, they communicate and get along, no teenage prissy fits and mommy being mad.
Not sure about morticia but Wednesday is it she attends a school for teenager who have unique abilities kind of like Professor Xs academy but the student body also consists of vampires,Sirens and gorgons Wedensday and her mother are psychics
Mind explaining that one. It's obviously a reference to the poem 'The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe, which as you might have guessed is a recurring theme in this show. Interestingly, Ravens were also associated with Odin, or Woden, King of the Norse Gods and God of War, Poetry, Fury, Death, Magic and Wisdom, as well as the namesake of the day Wednesday, or Wodensday. What did you think they stole that from.

No she didnt. In the movie she drew calpernia Addams :)

The Dove vs Raven ideology is interesting. And makes me wonder if one could be a crow. And what that would entail.

Agreed! Also i know she calls herself a dove but the energy of Morticia is just not the same as the original show.

I love Catherine Zeta-Jones. Since the movie Zorro with Antonio Banderas.
She has a big nose
Angelica Houston will always be Morticia for me.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is an awesome Morticia, so this is nothing against her as the actress, but I really wish they would have kept the iconic bold red lipstick.
Yes!! I hope season 2 has that bold lip
I agree it would really make her face pop and be stunning 🖤
I love Morticia, this version too. But never in a billion years would Morticia ever be a dove....
morticia is kinda giving lana del rey as a mom
I've always wished for a crossover done with The Addams Family and Beetlejuice. That would be most interesting!
Morticia adams , great wife and mother.
Morica is soooooo cool!
i love her also! shes a great mother and i love her magical coolness
Loved this show sad when it ended😢❤
Am I the only person who got the Edgar Allen Poe reference? No? Just me?
The series have a lot of références to him
Jenna Ortega is only mine and im her boyfriend!!~~~~❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The best Morticia Addams ever is played by Carolyn Jones. 👍🏻

When did Adams Family begin to have "supernatural powers"?
Supernatural not so much, but Grandmama (Morticia's mother and Wednesday's grandmother) has been a practicing witch in many stories.
