And I see people make these “exposing” videos where they blame the creator of music or movies or whatever for putting bad stuff in it when usually the person had no idea or that wasn’t their goal. I’m confused with “The Truman Show.” The movie isn’t putting God in a bad light, it’s putting MAN in a bad light. It’s showing how we don’t have control over other people, we can’t dictate the weather, what will happen, and most of all we can’t create life as he did. Whether you think the movie was made to put God in glory or not, the main message was that ACTING as God isn’t right. Which is actually a very good moral lesson, especially in a world where power is placed above almost everything.

I saw the movie and messaging differently from the first time I watched it. To me it was trying to make God look bad constantly. As in God is only trying to control you and one must break free from His oppressive reign and rules. The town was Eden - perfect and controlled. The director was God - oppressive and only in it for his glory. Truman gained knowledge and broke free from the oppressive god to finally be able to gain autonomy. Oh, and often they take away the divinity of God and put Him on the same level as humans. They see him as not perfect and righteous but a being made by humanity with all our flaws. As the Scripture would say they have a veil over their eyes and refuse to or can't see the truth.

You know, it's funny how something like Lilo & Stitch, a movie about a violent space alien criminal, that advertised itself as being super edgy and out of place in the Disney universe, as well as making a small reference to evolution, has more Christ centered values than any of the movies mentioned here. Stitch ultimately had to stop being "bad", put others before himself, and allow himself to receive the sense of love and belonging he so desperately craved. His creator the self-proclaimed "Evil Genius" Jumbaa, ends up following his example and becomes a friend of Lilo's family too. Wish more childrens films followed its example.

Think about this,a game series where the creator of the series,Miyamoto who is Zaoist(I think, I know he's not Christian) in a country,Japan,that isn't Christian,was going to have Christianity be the central religion in a game series and Nintendo of America(the country that supposedly is founded on Christian principles)says Christianity shouldn't be included in the Zelda series. I agree with certain aspects of your response, but Hollywood and Disney is filled with pedophiles and a lot of the movies they create involve inappropriate scenes, especially Hollywood. Their music industry is almost only hypersexual and definitely shaped they behavior of the youth. And i havent even mentioned the p-industry that a lot of underage children are exposed to and can’t seem to let go of due to the addictions created by it. So adding all of these things to the movies she just showed us, tells us that there is definitely a desperate attempt to lead people away from God and towards Satan. Yeah I think you’re spot on with this. The rulers in these movies are almost always intended to be seen as imperfectly human forces in society, not divine ones. In addition, Jesus Himself called the devil the “ruler of this world,” noting the tyranny and oppression that satan perpetuates in our fallen world through his deceit and temptation. Characters like Turbo from Wreck It Ralph, most clearly align with the devil rather than God. If they choose to engage with content created by worldly individuals, the best approach would be to extract the most beneficial message from it. I’m not advocating for exclusively consuming worldly entertainment because, ultimately, it is worldly and will not provide the spiritual nourishment we truly need. However, if one decides to watch a movie or engage with other forms of entertainment, it’s important to select the best option available and, afterward, focus on identifying and reflecting on the most positive and meaningful message within that piece of entertainment.
Might get some negative feedback but I am probably the only one here not seeing an inherent anti-Christian push of gnosticism on these specific examples. I see the association of an "evil" creator that made a "prefect" world, but the fact that in most cases the "creator" is just another human limits that association for me. There are other films and shows that push real gnosticism by showing an divine race of angels/gods that turn out to be heavily flawed/petty/evil, this is actually something that caused me to severely limit my anime intake- a lot of anime features some sort of divine species in charge that eventually reveal themselves as inferior/flawed/evil and the protagonist ends up overthrowing them. If anything the films featured here just reinforce the folly of humanity, not God, as humans create a tainted version of paradise whereas God created the real thing. So yeah, apologies if this upsets some people or makes them believe I've been ensnared by the enemy, but probably the first video where my stance doesn't align with Taylor's.
One of the larger purposes of the massive influx of polytheistic-character derived shows in the recent decade (it's in everything and everywhere now) is to give the impression that TMH is just a fragment of man's imagination that is a cis-white male thing or something. King Candy is literally the bad guy - he is the one that corrupted Sugar Rush by messing with vanellope's code- lying to her about what her glitch is and forcing everyone to let him win the race in the game. Vanellope's Glitch was her gift, her fruit was the success of sugar rush because she was coded to be the winning character. King Candy lied to Sugar Rush by not telling the girls who he really was. and might i add imprisoned Felix in a dungeon. Ralph freed Feix from - so Ralph is not satan, he gives fruit to the videogame characters who are poor and oppressed.

You are very off-base with some of your takes. Wreck-it Ralph: Ralph is TREATED as an archetype of evil, but he aspires for GOOD. He doesn't fully understand what that means and tries to accomplish it on his own terms (pre-salvation works?) by obtaining a trinket (worldly recognition?). But his true conversion comes from an inward change (justification?) and completes his journey with an act of self-sacrifice (the greatest love?), which Satan is not capable of. He is then accepted by the "good" people once he has undergone this change (regeneration?). And King Candy is anything but analogous to God. He is a direct symbol of Satan who entered the game from outside (the serpent and the garden?) and took on a pleasant disguise to assume control. At its heart, this story is a fairly straightforward analogy for the Christian life, not a promotion of evil. Truman Show: Christoff is a false god (Satan?). He has trapped Truman in a seemingly real world that leads nowhere and has no real consequence (Secularism?). He has been given a fear of water to prevent him from realizing the means of escape (baptism?). Truman sees inconsistencies and eventually rebels, seeking to find the REAL world beyond the one he has always known - the one that matters (eternal life with God?). And in the end, he escapes through the ocean amidst a storm (water and the spirit?) before leaving Christoff behind, empty handed. He steps into darkness (death?) to be reborn beyond (resurrection with Christ?) into a new life. I'm sure there is some truth to what you propose for some movies and some directors and writers, but the fact that you ignore the obvious good in order to squeeze bad from the rock tells me that you have allowed yourself to be blinded by fundamentalist presupposition. I recommend you honestly re-evaluate some of these examples since we should celebrate good messages when they are proclaimed and support the people responsible. This was interesting. I think that films and TV shows can definitely have subliminal messages and they may sometimes not even be intentional. I think sometimes films and TV shows can act as mass peer pressure. I think one reason why a lot of people feel discontent being single is because of characters on popular TV shows and in films that are single are portrayed as these sad characters that are to be pitied and "fixed" by their friends in relationships. I don't think the creators intend to do this most times in the example I just gave, but I think when you consume a lot of media that sends that subliminal message that singleness is bad, it can cause you to view yourself in a bad light if you're single.

Parable change time. Lucifer starts off as the favorite angel of God. Then Adam gets created and Lucifer was jealous at how Adam became the favorite, and so he ruined Adam and both he and Adam were punished. Lucifer escaped punishment by shape shifting into an animal and escaped. Lucifer then changes the Dna of Mankind and soon becomes the shadow ruler of the Earth. Do you understand? 5. Sugar Rush Kingdom being destroyed is the Earth being destroyed, whilst the people leaving are Christians leaving with Felix(Jesus). Vanellope represents sinners and sinners aren't the ones following Jesus to safety. So Felix staying at the gate with everyone else, is really Jesus leaving with everyone else to safety; which in the movie going through the gate is the safety. Also Satan wants to rule people on the Earth, so Ralph saving Sugar Rush Kingdom to save Vanellope is like Satan wanting to stop judgement day to save the sinners.

Ralph is playing a bad guy, I do think that films definitely do gnosticism but I do feel films portray leaders as bad guys but they are actually villains, so I would say they do it vicariously but not directly and stories definitely have coincidence in them. We have been telling them for thousands of years.

Yes it is. The problem comes from how people are. Most people can't empathize without not rooting for them. If you sympathize with villains too much at one point it becomes a norm and since people do like to pick sides well shit happens. Want a current example of the same approach used in media for a current belief? Do you believe gay people are born gay? Yes or no? Look at the media from early 2000s. They were slowly pushing that idea and it worked. Now most people believe people are born gay even though its not the case.

I feel like the Truman Show is misrepresented here. Christoff wasn't God, he was clearly a man trying to play God. And his attempt to create a paradise paled in comparison to the beauty and complexity of the world God created. What's more, is that Christoff thinks he's motivated by love, but he's not. If he loved Truman he would let him have his agency, which is what God gave us. The reality is, Christoff was motivated by money and views. The movie is actually a biting commentary of human greed and idolatry, showing us the dystopian horror of what television and entertainment could become. It was eerily prophetic as reality TV burst into popularity in the 00s and has ruined thousands of peoples' lives and wasted millions of peoples' time.
So any leader trying to control his subjects is a reference to god? Have you thought it could be a reference to dictators and absolute unfair rulers that seek to keep everyone controlled and oblivious? The Sophia character is used probably because she works as a love interest, guide, and motivator in many instances. The underlying theme with so many of these “perfect worlds” is that they are not actually perfect unlike how Eden was, so this comparison is not entirely true. A lot of these rebellious themes are probably put in to appeal to children and their proclivity to want to do their own thing. The whole conformity to a perfect world could also work as a reference to communisms nature on how it makes everyone conform to one ideology that promotes perfect coexistence, submission , ignorance, and has an absolute unquestionable dictator but is really flawed. In short, it’s not always demons.

It’s surprising to me that most newer shows and films are afraid to include any bit a Christianity, when it’s a part of life for most people. A lot of older shows and movies would purposely include Christian practices
One of the larger purposes of the massive influx of polytheistic-character derived shows in the recent decade (it's in everything and everywhere now) is to give the impression that TMH is just a fragment of man's imagination that is a cis-white male thing or something. The spiritual war front is from all sides. My upbringing was in anthropology and spending a lot of time in nature. Before TMH made it very clear to me, I was stuck on that thread. Praise TMH by which all blessings and everlasting life begin and end.
Early Christianity, and Gnosticism borrowed a lot from Greek teaching. Zeus was pretty flawed, with numerous infidelities, and actively wanting to keep the gift of fire from the human race. Prometheus was the actual architect for the human race, and was fond of them. Prometheus stole fire from Mt. Olympus and gave it to the humans, and the gift of fire made many things possible that were simply impossible before. Possessing fire helped the human race rise above the other animals, and allowed metallurgy, etc. Zeus was majorly upset with Prometheus, so chained him to a rock where an eagle pecked out his liver every day (because Prometheus was a God, it grew back). After many years of suffering, Hercules eventually freed Prometheus.
That's animism. It's the idea that natural objects, like trees, have a spirit. I think spiritual ecology might be the most updated version for westerners. Ancient animism isn't exactly popular, only remote tribes still practice it, so the primitivist traditions don't generally appeal to many modern people. You definitely see animism in movies involving tribal people, Celtic culture, and some Asian traditions.
Alternative POV: these tropes (non-derogatory) show up in so many stories because a "secret knowledge" is a compelling plot point, even in the true story of the gospel. One could look at the evil creator/father figures in these films as the Satan of that world as Satan is called the "prince of the power of the air" Eph 2 and the father of sinners in John 8. These stories could be seen as the having the main character start with spiritual blindness and then are led to the knowledge of the truth by a character representing a pastor, mentor, evangelist, or the Holy Spirit. A good example of this would be Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan which we know is an allegory for a Christian's walk in this life but has literally all the same tropes as the movies above, it is just a Christian book because it assigns Christian names and ideal to the characters. I would posit that the tropes laid in the video are present because they are the component parts of good stories, not because of a vast conspiracy. Caveat: I do think that media, shows, and movies can have a tendency to lead us into false ideas and acknowledge that gnosticism could be one of them, I just think that a blatant conspiracy to push classical gnosticism is unlikely and that the normalization of immoral actions is a much greater threat. I'd love to see a video that breaks down how the "heroes" in our movies learn bad lessons or set bad examples since that seems to be more damaging in my opinion. In my opinion, Wreck it Ralph can represent Christianity. He is bad, yes. But Felix still forgives him. Still tries to help him learn how to be better. Felix doesn't shun him, but help him grow; and Ralph wants to be better. He tries to be better. He talks about being better, and not knowing how. But when he is with Felix (which you pointed out was a lot like Jesus) he slowly became better in his ways. By being with the Jesus like character he becomes GOOD. So I think, he could show Christianity. B

Ralph, without taking Vanellope into consideration, does follow a redemption arc in a way. However, even in the end, you only get the happy ending because Ralph destroys the stuff around him and Vanellope embraces her inner self. Those are very gnostic positions. The idea that "I don't have to change myself, because everything about me is good. I have to change how other people perceive me."
I do love your journey Taylor but if you think that we are The Bride + Jesus is the Prince = We are PRINCESSES and now every Disney movie is anti-christian propaganda (as you say in 15:19) then you're being mislead. Conservative western Christianity loves to create conspiracy theories about topics like this but I find that the more you go down this rabbit hole the more distracted you are from what really matters, which is Jesus. If you focus on Him rather than trying to find subliminal references about Good vs Evil (which is in literally every story ever made) I am sure you God will give you the discernment on what you should and shouldn't watch.

Hi! I don't believe every Disney movie with princesses is evil. I was just highlighting on a common theme that can be found in many Disney princess movies. People who go to movies are looking for something to move them, and there are elements of truth in nearly every popular story-- albeit clouded/polluted/fractured. If you can use movies as a launch pad for pointing to the one True Story (which far outshines all others), then you have directed them toward the light, rather than simply exposing darkness. Both discernment and grace are necessary.

This isn’t a evil push, this is just a movie trope. You’ll also find movies that will push god in a positive light e.g Moana, when Maui attempts to reverse his evil actions and return the heart to that fiery god (to repent) She heals and rids their world of evils. There are all different kinds of people making movies, so it should be expected that they are both film types, ones that praise gods and ones that perceive them as evil.
I understand the concern, but honestly, that's not the vibe I got from these movies- especially the Disney princess ones; those seem more focused on themes like love, sacrifice, good vs evil, etc. Even for the other more obvious ones, that's not the themes you'd pick up on, especially as a kid. For instance, The Lego Movie for me was about creativity and determination. Wreck-it-Ralph was about redemption and self-acceptance. So yes, it's something to look out for, but it's not something to be avoided like the plague, because it has a whiff of a Biblical parallel painted in a creative light.
I appreciate what you are doing with your channel in general but I think there may be a bit of selective bias going on with this video. For example, what if the evil ruler is a representation of a devilish attribute (power, control, etc.) and the rebellion is actually seeking to gain godliness (agency, love, etc.). For example, in Truman show we see that Christof (an attempt at mimicking Christ but taking the glory/power for himself) dictates and controls Truman, trying to stop him from having agency and choice. Only after he chooses to remove himself from the world in which the devil has control does he truly become free. Most voices in his world try to convince him (forced by Christof) not to seek agency, except for the rare few who give him truth. He sees that truth for what it is and persues it to a point where he is now free to make choices and even find the real God. I feel like I could probably do the same kind of interpretations of the other movies you mentioned as well. Generally, stories resonate with us when they speak to us. And even when we watch the same movie, we may come away with very different connections and ideas to that film. Ultimately if you feel a lack of the Spirit, then make the choice for something where you can feel the Spirit.

I was following with Wreck it Ralph until I remembered that it shows King Candy taking over the game and turning Penelope into the glitch while erasing everyones memories. So I would like to argue that King Candy represents the sin that can be let into our lives turning us away from the way God intended us to live.
I disagree. Certainly you are correct that King Candy isn't the creator of the game, but he did re-create the game to put himself as the ultimate power. Thus for the purposes of the story and how the concepts develop in our mind, he represents the position of god. In the end, Vanellope comes out triumphant because she embraces her inner flaws and Ralph starts the process by breaking parts of the world. Ralph wants to be good --- but he doesn't want to stop breaking things. Vanellope believes she IS good, if only the powers that be would stop oppressing her. These are both gnostic ideals. The problem in the story is that both Ralph and Vanellope are being held back by their respective worlds and only by embracing their true self will they triumph.
@@kittenisageek could you not argue that the things holding them back are sins. Even in the story of Wreck-It Ralph, it’s not the world that is holding them back. It is the people in their world in the way that they are viewed because of a thing that they cannot change until they embrace their flaws, embrace the parts of them that actually make them different. I would even call them flaws And more things that they just are as humans personality things the role in life that they are putting in so no I grew up with that movie and I never once took theological or worldview things from Penelope and King candies relationship to one another. Funny thing I saw somebody take over a created world similarly to how sin runs rampant in our world, and somebody who is affected by sin like every single other person in our world or in Penelope’s case somebody who is affected by King’s wrath, go against that and reclaim the world back for good.
I don't think that this is necessarily the case here, because these movies are not about heavens, they are about out daily lives and we do not live in heavens, we live in an archetypal tower of Babel, constructed by the European thinkers of Renaissance era who stem from the disillusionment caused by protestant wars, and so decided to reject God and make up their own (the Hobbesian state) and to create their own paradise here and now. And this took form of the plastic sterile consumerist utopia which exists in some parts of the few remaining first world countries, surrounded by wars, famines, pandemics and overall chaos. And this "paradise" indeed holds on lies, that everything outside of this fake utopia is the deviation and so are you if you aren't happy to just work-buy-consume etc, rather than it itself is the spiritual deviation. But this doesn't hold, since people cannot live without God so they engage in destructive behavior which results in every modern economic, social and political problem in the world. Same as the people of Shinar came into disarray and abandoned their tower project, so do the modern people abandon the modernist, capitalist project with different levels of destructive. So breaking into the bubble of those who still haven't woken up to this and laying it onto them doesn't make you a Gnostic. We kinda entered a recursive here: they first broke into the religious worldview of European people a few centuries ago and led them out into their own hypothetical paradise with no God and now someone is repeating their action to lead them out of the man-made paradise, though we cannot say whether it will lead into the original paradise or into an even lower state of destruction and chaos, it all depends on whether people find God on their way out or just keep searching for a new idol I guess.

Maybe I missed something with the video and a few comments, but, it’s seems that the world is flawed but people are making it better. People are standing against evil to improve the world. Good people fighting evil. Furthermore, the real issues with movies is nihilism which many modern movies have.

Dude, literally every character in that movie can self-resurrect. It's called "respawning" and its a very common game mechanic. Not everything is about God, and I don't think He intended it to be that way.

Movies like Hercules are built on pantheism, which shares some traits with gnosticism. In pantheism you have a roster of gods who are in charge of this, that, and the other thing. Generally there's one over-god that created the other gods. The gods are highly flawed. Generally they fight among themselves and use humans as pawns. In most movies built on Greek, Roman, or Norse mythology, the average human is better off without the interference of the gods. Essentially, gnosticism is applying the flawed nature of gods, and their desire to control and constrain humanity, to the Christian God. **EDIT: Fixed me grammar and lirnd too spel.

According to Gnosticism, these three things cannot exist together: 1. God is all good. 2. God is all powerful. 3. Evil exists 1. If God is all good and evil exists, then he's not all powerful. 2. Wreck it Ralph shows that King Candy is the antagonist because of some of the deadliest he committed (pride and greed for example) without any sign or repenting or a redemption arc. Same applies to Lord Business from The Lego Movie, but in this case the one from The Lego Movie is more wrathful.

In Free guy, it wasn't so much he woke up to God being bad as much as that the world we live in is misleading and that God can help you get to the truth that is hidden within the world The ending was super wholesome too (the glasses of truth could be like reading the bible) - the world he is in has great evil but the background of what the real world is like contains wholesome values and good intentions : the character "free guy" was a program but it was one that builds on itself and was there to help cheer up the woman who discovered him The glitching girl is less like sin and more like humility for being imperfect (some people: evil people would want the world to end if there is clear genuine expression that has a flaw or quirk that is less confident and appealing - Appearances are everything?) - the reoccurring theme is also that you should accept yourself with your "flaws/ quirks" yet still develop your character as you get by (and you learn to live with who you are I could see some parallels between liberalism and small foot (which do go against Christian views (treating perversion as sacred)) but also consider that the theme is about breaking free from a tyrant: a major theme in almost any story ever told and breaking free from a tyrant does not have to be about God but rather anyone who intends to do wrong. Yes you could interpret these as quarrels with God but I see them more about the devil's grasp on the world that makes any attempt at creating utopia a flawed endeavour (lord business is a very clear parallel with the devil* - Businesses care about making money off selling their product and generally dont care about the wellbeing of the people buying their product other than keeping them well enough to keep buying). This Sophia character doesn't have to be seen as evil either yes it parraleles Adam, Eve and the garden of Eden but it also can be interpreted as the saving grace women can be for men (many men have low self esteem, little going for them, and low drive to accomplish, that is until a woman comes into their life that changes that: he gains drive, something to care for greater than himself and a reason to live) I feel like the majority of your examples could easily have an alternative explanation that is not as perverse as you are making them seem.. There is some form of evil in every story and just because there could be a parralele doesn't not mean it is the correct interpretation

I found a scene in _Moana,_ when she's a little girl, to be very groomer-ish-- her father warns her about being in the ocean alone, for her safety. When she disobeys him and okays in the water, it comes alive and tickles her, gives her a gift, then parts in a non-verbal "this is out little secret" sort of way.
I feel like that's a bit of a stretch when we look at it in the context of the story. Otherwise you could say a movie where a grandma is sharing the gospel to a kid and give them candy out of kindness and love when the kids family is against Christianity because they believe it to be wrong and dangerous, could also be called grooming under your logic.
There are some things that I need to point out about this video. The first thing is that the words from Isaiah 14:14, were not spoken by Satan, but was spoken by the King Of Babylon in some point of his life. After he had passed into the land of the dead, he was remained of those words by other Kings that had passed away before him. Also the creator of this video skipped over the bit of how Ralph got the medal in the first place. Another point is that King Candy tried to delete Vanellope from the game Sugar Rush, in which she was the main character of the game, and King Candy was never originally part of the game. That is how she ended up glitching in the first place. King Candy told the other Characters of the game a lie, that if she finished a race, the game would end up being deleted. Because he knew that if she won a race, the game would be restored to the original program, and all his hard work to change the game would be gone. The lesson I would take away from watching Wreck-It-Ralph, is that no matter how much we have sinned, there is still good within us. This is something that Satan does not want us to know, and try to keep from us.
Ms Alesia, I’m a Christian, and I don’t mean to insult you over your ideas based off these movies, but I believe you should consider more the lore of some of them. The LEGO Movie: President Business wanted to freeze the entire universe. Wreck it Ralph: King Candy can’t be compared to God, because he was the most Satanic one of the movie. He is actually named Turbo from another game, getting it unplugged for invading other games in the arcade he was jealous of. He also wiped all the memories of the people in Sugar Rush to think Penelope was “Satan”, when she was infant the original ruler of that games land. As for Ralph, he stayed as a villain FOR HIS GAME, but when the arcade closed he was good to everyone else because he wanted to. Not to turn them to evil but to show that he had the ability to show kindness and wasn’t truly a villain. Though I do agree with you that including Satan was too far. Free Guy: The creator of Guy’s game, Free City was gonna shut down all servers, killing him and all the other npcs. The “God” of that world also encouraged the lawlessness because his game was a GTA clone. The npcs, or should we say people, inside the game weren’t even made by Free City’s creator, but rather their code was copied by someone else. Sophia in the move was trying to save HER creation from being killed, for she created his code. The Truman Show: They’ve literally held a man hostage since birth, and the creator of the show was calling himself God. Another thing, perhaps the inspiration for some plots wasn’t from the idea that God could be bad, but maybe they’re based off other evil rulers in history or maybe even present day. The way I personally see it, the plot of the LEGO Movie could’ve been inspired by North Korea and that country’s lack of freedoms because of the Kim dynasty. Again, not trying to say you’re wrong, and I certainly hope you don’t view me of someone who would feel sympathy for Satan; I just want you to consider the idea these films didn’t have any anti-god message as their moral. The servers shutting down can be like the Earth beign destroyed. The island beyond the border could be like Heaven, a paradise to our eyes. The sunglasses users are like the sinners. 5. The show was under a dome, Christof was the creator of the show. The show created by Christof can be like the Earth created by God. Truman brought into the show's existence can be like God bringing Adam into existence. Also weird how your shortest paragraph is on the one thing that fits more with references to God and other stuff.
I feel like the "Creators" are more representative of Narcissistic Cult Leaders that don't encourage critical thinking. God creates rules for our safety yes, but unlike a cult leader, God is not afraid of us asking questions, He encourages it.

This video in particular seems a little sensationalized. I definitely get the concern, but it kind of gives fear-mongering, shelter-everything type of vibes. Just because something has a Christian allegory in a different light doesn't mean it's evil and gnostic. Some of the examples given in the video and the comment section aren't even really applicable to a higher power, it just seems a bit much to shut out good lessons with a slight allegory that isn't meant to portray God anyway to 'protect the youth'. I completely agree that movies push things, but I'm not really seeing it with movies you mentioned. Usually I just see the classic "I'm not going to follow what everyone else is doing, I'll discover my own destiny and live life my own way" message, which also isn't good. Or chasing after feelings instead of obeying rules.

@stiimuli the point is to mindful of what we are consuming. Even if something is technically "harmless" it can become a stumbling block got others. The enemy is tricky and sneaky sometimes. Sometimes he may use something that seems good, but is actually a distortion of truth to slowly mislead people. Nuances that may be obvious to us may not be to everyone. My frustration with this post is that you remark on Gnosticism in movies without acknowledging the influence of Gnosticism in our own religion. The ideas of Heaven and Hell as they are generally understood in so many churches are soaking with with gnostic influence. Your description of Gnosticism is incorrect. Gnosticism has many branches, similar to the way that Protestantism does, but the general idea is that the Supreme God is unknowable and incomprehensible, as well as perfect. I think some of these movies are written with no philosophical or theological intent but as critiques of the world. The material world works similarly to the way gnostics think the spiritual world works, so the movies can be interpreted either way. Some seem to be written with an intentional gnostic theme. Some are just trying to be like other movies that have been successful.
I think the truman show could be seen in an opposite way. It could be seen as Truman living in a life of sin that he’s always known so that’s his normal. Eventually he starts realizing this isn’t how he wants life and that he wants to really live. People had been trying to tell him that he wasn’t living in the truth but sin and the devil deceived him into thinking everything was perfect and okay. When the man who made the show speaks to him, he’s telling him he should stay in this perfect world, no matter how miserable he is. But he decides that he’d rather live the life in the truth and turns away from a life offered to him by the devil

I’m confused with “The Truman Show.” The movie isn’t putting God in a bad light, it’s putting MAN in a bad light. It’s showing how we don’t have control over other people, we can’t dictate the weather, what will happen, and most of all we can’t create life as he did. Whether you think the movie was made to put God in glory or not, the main message was that ACTING as God isn’t right. Which is actually a very good moral lesson, especially in a world where power is placed above almost everything.

I saw the movie and messaging differently from the first time I watched it. To me it was trying to make God look bad constantly. As in God is only trying to control you and one must break free from His oppressive reign and rules. The town was Eden - perfect and controlled. The director was God - oppressive and only in it for his glory. Truman gained knowledge and broke free from the oppressive god to finally be able to gain autonomy.

You know, it's funny how something like Lilo & Stitch, a movie about a violent space alien criminal, that advertised itself as being super edgy and out of place in the Disney universe, as well as making a small reference to evolution, has more Christ centered values than any of the movies mentioned here. Stitch ultimately had to stop being "bad", put others before himself, and allow himself to receive the sense of love and belonging he so desperately craved. His creator the self-proclaimed "Evil Genius" Jumbaa, ends up following his example and becomes a friend of Lilo's family too.

You should also understand that many artists feel like they don’t belong, so their work often reflects a rebellion not necessarily against God or a divine creator, but rather against any form of authority in the "normal" world-parents, institutions, politicians, etc. It’s more about challenging those earthly authorities than promoting an anti-God agenda.
That said, we must remember that sin permeates every facet of human life. Most of the time, the creators of these stories are not Satanists; rather, their work reflects the unfortunate, sinful tendencies of humanity that manifest in their art. Additionally, be cautious with interpreting symbolism. Symbolism can be applied to almost anything, but the context is crucial in determining the creators’ actual intentions. Without proper context, you might reach correct conclusions but through faulty arguments.
For example, when analyzing The Truman Show, the protagonist’s bow at the end was simply an actor’s bow at the conclusion of a performance. It wasn’t meant to mimic a Christ-like pose. I agree with certain aspects of your response, but Hollywood and Disney is filled with pedophiles and a lot of the movies they create involve inappropriate scenes, especially Hollywood. Their music industry is almost only hypersexual and definitely shaped they behavior of the youth. And i havent even mentioned the p-industry that a lot of underage children are exposed to and can’t seem to let go of due to the addictions created by it. So adding all of these things to the movies she just showed us, tells us that there is definitely a desperate attempt to lead people away from God and towards Satan.

Yeah I think you’re spot on with this. The rulers in these movies are almost always intended to be seen as imperfectly human forces in society, not divine ones. In addition, Jesus Himself called the devil the “ruler of this world,” noting the tyranny and oppression that satan perpetuates in our fallen world through his deceit and temptation. Characters like Turbo from Wreck It Ralph, most clearly align with the devil rather than God.
I believe these stories teach valuable lessons about not submitting to the oppressive forces in our world that would like us to conform to the sinfulness of modern culture. They promote striving for a better and new world, I.e. Heaven.

If they choose to engage with content created by worldly individuals, the best approach would be to extract the most beneficial message from it.
I’m not advocating for exclusively consuming worldly entertainment because, ultimately, it is worldly and will not provide the spiritual nourishment we truly need. However, if one decides to watch a movie or engage with other forms of entertainment, it’s important to select the best option available and, afterward, focus on identifying and reflecting on the most positive and meaningful message within that piece of entertainment.
Might get some negative feedback but I am probably the only one here not seeing an inherent anti-Christian push of gnosticism on these specific examples. I see the association of an "evil" creator that made a "prefect" world, but the fact that in most cases the "creator" is just another human limits that association for me. There are other films and shows that push real gnosticism by showing an divine race of angels/gods that turn out to be heavily flawed/petty/evil, this is actually something that caused me to severely limit my anime intake- a lot of anime features some sort of divine species in charge that eventually reveal themselves as inferior/flawed/evil and the protagonist ends up overthrowing them. If anything the films featured here just reinforce the folly of humanity, not God, as humans create a tainted version of paradise whereas God created the real thing.
So yeah, apologies if this upsets some people or makes them believe I've been ensnared by the enemy, but probably the first video where my stance doesn't align with Taylor's.

There’s a lot of stretching to find connections that probably aren’t there at all.
One of the larger purposes of the massive influx of polytheistic-character derived shows in the recent decade (it's in everything and everywhere now) is to give the impression that TMH is just a fragment of man's imagination that is a cis-white male thing or something. The spiritual war front is from all sides. My upbringing was in anthropology and spending a lot of time in nature. Before TMH made it very clear to me, I was stuck on that thread. You are very off-base with some of your takes.
Wreck-it Ralph: Ralph is TREATED as an archetype of evil, but he aspires for GOOD. He doesn't fully understand what that means and tries to accomplish it on his own terms (pre-salvation works?) by obtaining a trinket (worldly recognition?). But his true conversion comes from an inward change (justification?) and completes his journey with an act of self-sacrifice (the greatest love?), which Satan is not capable of. He is then accepted by the "good" people once he has undergone this change (regeneration?). And King Candy is anything but analogous to God. He is a direct symbol of Satan who entered the game from outside (the serpent and the garden?) and took on a pleasant disguise to assume control. At its heart, this story is a fairly straightforward analogy for the Christian life, not a promotion of evil.
Truman Show: Christoff is a false god (Satan?). He has trapped Truman in a seemingly real world that leads nowhere and has no real consequence (Secularism?). He has been given a fear of water to prevent him from realizing the means of escape (baptism?). Truman sees inconsistencies and eventually rebels, seeking to find the REAL world beyond the one he has always known - the one that matters (eternal life with God?). And in the end, he escapes through the ocean amidst a storm (water and the spirit?) before leaving Christoff behind, empty handed. He steps into darkness (death?) to be reborn beyond (resurrection with Christ?) into a new life.
I'm sure there is some truth to what you propose for some movies and some directors and writers, but the fact that you ignore the obvious good in order to squeeze bad from the rock tells me that you have allowed yourself to be blinded by fundamentalist presupposition. I recommend you honestly re-evaluate some of these examples since we should celebrate good messages when they are proclaimed and support the people responsible. If we truly want to retake the culture, we can't let the good become the enemy of the perfect.

This was interesting. I think that films and TV shows can definitely have subliminal messages and they may sometimes not even be intentional. I think sometimes films and TV shows can act as mass peer pressure. I think one reason why a lot of people feel discontent being single is because of characters on popular TV shows and in films that are single are portrayed as these sad characters that are to be pitied and "fixed" by their friends in relationships. I don't think the creators intend to do this most times in the example I just gave, but I think when you consume a lot of media that sends that subliminal message that singleness is bad, it can cause you to view yourself in a bad light if you're single.

3:16 Felix doesn’t just have a “resurrection power”, the characters cannot die in their own games, that is why this happened to Felix in that scene. So I don't think that the comment about him being “like Jesus” is relevant. 5. Sugar Rush Kingdom being destroyed is the Earth being destroyed, whilst the people leaving are Christians leaving with Felix(Jesus). Vanellope represents sinners and sinners aren't the ones following Jesus to safety.
So Felix staying at the gate with everyone else, is really Jesus leaving with everyone else to safety; which in the movie going through the gate is the safety.
Also Satan wants to rule people on the Earth, so Ralph saving Sugar Rush Kingdom to save Vanellope is like Satan wanting to stop judgement day to save the sinners.

Ralph is playing a bad guy, I do think that films definitely do gnosticism but I do feel films portray leaders as bad guys but they are actually villains, so I would say they do it vicariously but not directly and stories definitely have coincidence in them. I feel like the Truman Show is misrepresented here. Christoff wasn't God, he was clearly a man trying to play God. And his attempt to create a paradise paled in comparison to the beauty and complexity of the world God created. What's more, is that Christoff thinks he's motivated by love, but he's not. If he loved Truman he would let him have his agency, which is what God gave us. The reality is, Christoff was motivated by money and views. The movie is actually a biting commentary of human greed and idolatry, showing us the dystopian horror of what television and entertainment could become. It was eerily prophetic as reality TV burst into popularity in the 00s and has ruined thousands of peoples' lives and wasted millions of peoples' time.
So any leader trying to control his subjects is a reference to god? Have you thought it could be a reference to dictators and absolute unfair rulers that seek to keep everyone controlled and oblivious? The Sophia character is used probably because she works as a love interest, guide, and motivator in many instances. The underlying theme with so many of these “perfect worlds” is that they are not actually perfect unlike how Eden was, so this comparison is not entirely true. A lot of these rebellious themes are probably put in to appeal to children and their proclivity to want to do their own thing. The whole conformity to a perfect world could also work as a reference to communisms nature on how it makes everyone conform to one ideology that promotes perfect coexistence, submission

One of the larger purposes of the massive influx of polytheistic-character derived shows in the recent decade (it's in everything and everywhere now) is to give the impression that TMH is just a fragment of man's imagination that is a cis-white male thing or something. The spiritual war front is from all sides. My upbringing was in anthropology and spending a lot of time in nature. Before TMH made it very clear to me, I was stuck on that thread. Praise TMH by which all blessings and everlasting life begin and end.
Early Christianity, and Gnosticism borrowed a lot from Greek teaching. Zeus was pretty flawed, with numerous infidelities, and actively wanting to keep the gift of fire from the human race. Prometheus was the actual architect for the human race, and was fond of them. Prometheus stole fire from Mt. Olympus and gave it to the humans, and the gift of fire made many things possible that were simply impossible before. Possessing fire helped the human race rise above the other animals, and allowed metallurgy, etc. Zeus was majorly upset with Prometheus, so chained him to a rock where an eagle pecked out his liver every day (because Prometheus was a God, it grew back). After many years of suffering, Hercules eventually freed Prometheus.

That's animism. It's the idea that natural objects, like trees, have a spirit. I think spiritual ecology might be the most updated version for westerners. Ancient animism isn't exactly popular, only remote tribes still practice it, so the primitivist traditions don't generally appeal to many modern people. You definitely see animism in movies involving tribal people, Celtic culture, and some Asian traditions.

Alternative POV: these tropes (non-derogatory) show up in so many stories because a "secret knowledge" is a compelling plot point, even in the true story of the gospel. One could look at the evil creator/father figures in these films as the Satan of that world as Satan is called the "prince of the power of the air" Eph 2 and the father of sinners in John 8. These stories could be seen as the having the main character start with spiritual blindness and then are led to the knowledge of the truth by a character representing a pastor, mentor, evangelist, or the Holy Spirit. A good example of this would be Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan which we know is an allegory for a Christian's walk in this life but has literally all the same tropes as the movies above, it is just a Christian book because it assigns Christian names and ideal to the characters. I would posit that the tropes laid in the video are present because they are the component parts of good stories, not because of a vast conspiracy.
Caveat: I do think that media, shows, and movies can have a tendency to lead us into false ideas and acknowledge that gnosticism could be one of them, I just think that a blatant conspiracy to push classical gnosticism is unlikely and that the normalization of immoral actions is a much greater threat. I'd love to see a video that breaks down how the "heroes" in our movies learn bad lessons or set bad examples since that seems to be more damaging in my opinion. Hope I'm not sounding too negative, I did enjoy the video!
In my opinion, Wreck it Ralph can represent Christianity. He is bad, yes. But Felix still forgives him. Still tries to help him learn how to be better. Felix doesn't shun him, but help him grow; and Ralph wants to be better. He tries to be better. He talks about being better, and not knowing how. But when he is with Felix (which you pointed out was a lot like Jesus) he slowly became better in his ways. By being with the Jesus like character he becomes GOOD. So I think, he could show Christianity.

Ralph, without taking Vanellope into consideration, does follow a redemption arc in a way. However, even in the end, you only get the happy ending because Ralph destroys the stuff around him and Vanellope embraces her inner self. Those are very gnostic positions. The idea that "I don't have to change myself, because everything about me is good. I have to change how other people perceive me."

I do love your journey Taylor but if you think that we are The Bride + Jesus is the Prince = We are PRINCESSES and now every Disney movie is anti-christian propaganda (as you say in 15:19) then you're being mislead. Conservative western Christianity loves to create conspiracy theories about topics like this but I find that the more you go down this rabbit hole the more distracted you are from what really matters, which is Jesus. If you focus on Him rather than trying to find subliminal references about Good vs Evil (which is in literally every story ever made) I am sure you God will give you the discernment on what you should and shouldn't watch.

People who go to movies are looking for something to move them, and there are elements of truth in nearly every popular story-- albeit clouded/polluted/fractured.
If you can use movies as a launch pad for pointing to the one True Story (which far outshines all others), then you have directed them toward the light, rather than simply exposing darkness. Both discernment and grace are necessary.

This isn’t a evil push, this is just a movie trope. You’ll also find movies that will push god in a positive light e.g Moana, when Maui attempts to reverse his evil actions and return the heart to that fiery god (to repent) She heals and rids their world of evils.
There are all different kinds of people making movies, so it should be expected that they are both film types, ones that praise gods and ones that perceive them as evil.
I understand the concern, but honestly, that's not the vibe I got from these movies- especially the Disney princess ones; those seem more focused on themes like love, sacrifice, good vs evil, etc. Even for the other more obvious ones, that's not the themes you'd pick up on, especially as a kid. For instance, The Lego Movie for me was about creativity and determination. Wreck-it-Ralph was about redemption and self-acceptance. So yes, it's something to look out for, but it's not something to be avoided like the plague, because it has a whiff of a Biblical parallel painted in a creative light.

I appreciate what you are doing with your channel in general but I think there may be a bit of selective bias going on with this video.
For example, what if the evil ruler is a representation of a devilish attribute (power, control, etc.) and the rebellion is actually seeking to gain godliness (agency, love, etc.). For example, in Truman show we see that Christof (an attempt at mimicking Christ but taking the glory/power for himself) dictates and controls Truman, trying to stop him from having agency and choice. Only after he chooses to remove himself from the world in which the devil has control does he truly become free. Most voices in his world try to convince him (forced by Christof) not to seek agency, except for the rare few who give him truth. He sees that truth for what it is and persues it to a point where he is now free to make choices and even find the real God.
I feel like I could probably do the same kind of interpretations of the other movies you mentioned as well. Generally, stories resonate with us when they speak to us. And even when we watch the same movie, we may come away with very different connections and ideas to that film.
Ultimately if you feel a lack of the Spirit, then make the choice for something where you can feel the Spirit.
And what spirit is that your talking specifically about. Because there are many spirits. But to agree with you in part we are in constant rebellion every one of us your either in rebellion against God or Satan. Can't please both

I was following with Wreck it Ralph until I remembered that it shows King Candy taking over the game and turning Penelope into the glitch while erasing everyones memories. So I would like to argue that King Candy represents the sin that can be let into our lives turning us away from the way God intended us to live.
I disagree. Certainly you are correct that King Candy isn't the creator of the game, but he did re-create the game to put himself as the ultimate power. Thus for the purposes of the story and how the concepts develop in our mind, he represents the position of god. In the end, Vanellope comes out triumphant because she embraces her inner flaws and Ralph starts the process by breaking parts of the world. Ralph wants to be good --- but he doesn't want to stop breaking things. Vanellope believes she IS good, if only the powers that be would stop oppressing her. These are both gnostic ideals. The problem in the story is that both Ralph and Vanellope are being held back by their respective worlds and only by embracing their true self will they triumph.
@@kittenisageek could you not argue that the things holding them back are sins. Even in the story of Wreck-It Ralph, it’s not the world that is holding them back. It is the people in their world in the way that they are viewed because of a thing that they cannot change until they embrace their flaws, embrace the parts of them that actually make them different. I would even call them flaws And more things that they just are as humans personality things the role in life that they are putting in so no I grew up with that movie and I never once took theological or worldview things from Penelope and King candies relationship to one another. Funny thing I saw somebody take over a created world similarly to how sin runs rampant in our world, and somebody who is affected by sin like every single other person in our world or in Penelope’s case somebody who is affected by King’s wrath, go against that and reclaim the world back for good.
I don't think that this is necessarily the case here, because these movies are not about heavens, they are about out daily lives and we do not live in heavens, we live in an archetypal tower of Babel, constructed by the European thinkers of Renaissance era who stem from the disillusionment caused by protestant wars, and so decided to reject God and make up their own (the Hobbesian state) and to create their own paradise here and now. And this took form of the plastic sterile consumerist utopia which exists in some parts of the few remaining first world countries, surrounded by wars, famines, pandemics and overall chaos. And this "paradise" indeed holds on lies, that everything outside of this fake utopia is the deviation and so are you if you aren't happy to just work-buy-consume etc, rather than it itself is the spiritual deviation. But this doesn't hold, since people cannot live without God so they engage in destructive behavior which results in every modern economic, social and political problem in the world. Same as the people of Shinar came into disarray and abandoned their tower project, so do the modern people abandon the modernist, capitalist project with different levels of destructive. So breaking into the bubble of those who still haven't woken up to this and laying it onto them doesn't make you a Gnostic. We kinda entered a recursive here: they first broke into the religious worldview of European people a few centuries ago and led them out into their own hypothetical paradise with no God and now someone is repeating their action to lead them out of the man-made paradise, though we cannot say whether it will lead into the original paradise or into an even lower state of destruction and chaos, it all depends on whether people find God on their way out or just keep searching for a new idol I guess.

Fix it Felix's similarities to Jesus blew my mind. There are some movies, like Hercules, where I didn't know the term for it, but I was aware of the idea that the gods are meant to be flawed. This is crazy, though! Wreck it Ralph, in particular, blew my mind. This was wild!

Dude, literally every character in that movie can self-resurrect. It's called "respawning" and its a very common game mechanic. Not everything is about God, and I don't think He intended it to be that way.

Movies like Hercules are built on pantheism, which shares some traits with gnosticism. In pantheism you have a roster of gods who are in charge of this, that, and the other thing. Generally there's one over-god that created the other gods. The gods are highly flawed. Generally they fight among themselves and use humans as pawns. In most movies built on Greek, Roman, or Norse mythology, the average human is better off without the interference of the gods. Essentially, gnosticism is applying the flawed nature of gods, and their desire to control and constrain humanity, to the Christian God.

i remember feeling like i was always the one fading into the background while others stood out effortlessly. it was frustrating and made me doubt myself a lot. then i came across this book, Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, and it showed me things i’d never even considered. it’s not just a self-help book; it’s like a guide to understanding your own energy and using it to connect with people. if you’ve ever felt like you’re not seen, this book might change everything.
Does it not make for a good story sometimes though? The mere plot of a flawed world and a potential false hero or evil creator doesn’t mean it’s pushing anti-Christian values. Real Christians wouldn’t associate this with religion anyways because it’s a movie, it is simply a fictional work. Also a lot of your analysis is just logical fallacy. Like I’m not far into the video and as a Christian this is bs. The point of video game villains like the ones depicted in wreck it Ralph is that they are evil. They are simply in denial. @@dabbingraccoons6416 exactly! The Lego Movie and Wreck It Ralph are one of the small number of animated movies that my family (Christians) allow me to watch when they were released on cinemas. Wreck it Ralph shows that King Candy is the antagonist because of some of the deadliest he committed (pride and greed for example) without any sign or repenting or a redemption arc. Same applies to Lord Business from The Lego Movie, but in this case the one from The Lego Movie is more wrathful.

In Free guy, it wasn't so much he woke up to God being bad as much as that the world we live in is misleading and that God can help you get to the truth that is hidden within the world
The ending was super wholesome too (the glasses of truth could be like reading the bible) - the world he is in has great evil but the background of what the real world is like contains wholesome values and good intentions : the character "free guy" was a program but it was one that builds on itself and was there to help cheer up the woman who discovered him
The glitching girl is less like sin and more like humility for being imperfect (some people: evil people would want the world to end if there is clear genuine expression that has a flaw or quirk that is less confident and appealing - Appearances are everything?) - the reoccurring theme is also that you should accept yourself with your "flaws/ quirks" yet still develop your character as you get by (and you learn to live with who you are
I could see some parallels between liberalism and small foot (which do go against Christian views (treating perversion as sacred)) but also consider that the theme is about breaking free from a tyrant: a major theme in almost any story ever told and breaking free from a tyrant does not have to be about God but rather anyone who intends to do wrong. Yes you could interpret these as quarrels with God but I see them more about the devil's grasp on the world that makes any attempt at creating utopia a flawed endeavour (lord business is a very clear parallel with the devil* - Businesses care about making money off selling their product and generally dont care about the wellbeing of the people buying their product other than keeping them well enough to keep buying).
This Sophia character doesn't have to be seen as evil either yes it parraleles Adam, Eve and the garden of Eden but it also can be interpreted as the saving grace women can be for men (many men have low self esteem, little going for them, and low drive to accomplish, that is until a woman comes into their life that changes that: he gains drive, something to care for greater than himself and a reason to live)

I found a scene in _Moana,_ when she's a little girl, to be very groomer-ish-- her father warns her about being in the ocean alone, for her safety. When she disobeys him and okays in the water, it comes alive and tickles her, gives her a gift, then parts in a non-verbal "this is out little secret" sort of way.

There are some things that I need to point out about this video. The first thing is that the words from Isaiah 14:14, were not spoken by Satan, but was spoken by the King Of Babylon in some point of his life. After he had passed into the land of the dead, he was remained of those words by other Kings that had passed away before him. Also the creator of this video skipped over the bit of how Ralph got the medal in the first place.
Another point is that King Candy tried to delete Vanellope from the game Sugar Rush, in which she was the main character of the game, and King Candy was never originally part of the game. That is how she ended up glitching in the first place. King Candy told the other Characters of the game a lie, that if she finished a race, the game would end up being deleted. Because he knew that if she won a race, the game would be restored to the original program, and all his hard work to change the game would be gone.
The lesson I would take away from watching Wreck-It-Ralph, is that no matter how much we have sinned, there is still good within us. This is something that Satan does not want us to know, and try to keep from us.

The LEGO Movie: President Business wanted to freeze the entire universe.
Wreck it Ralph: King Candy can’t be compared to God, because he was the most Satanic one of the movie. He is actually named Turbo from another game, getting it unplugged for invading other games in the arcade he was jealous of. He also wiped all the memories of the people in Sugar Rush to think Penelope was “Satan”, when she was infant the original ruler of that games land. As for Ralph, he stayed as a villain FOR HIS GAME, but when the arcade closed he was good to everyone else because he wanted to. Not to turn them to evil but to show that he had the ability to show kindness and wasn’t truly a villain. Though I do agree with you that including Satan was too far.
Free Guy: The creator of Guy’s game, Free City was gonna shut down all servers, killing him and all the other npcs. The “God” of that world also encouraged the lawlessness because his game was a GTA clone. The npcs, or should we say people, inside the game weren’t even made by Free City’s creator, but rather their code was copied by someone else. Sophia in the move was trying to save HER creation from being killed, for she created his code.
The Truman Show: They’ve literally held a man hostage since birth, and the creator of the show was calling himself God.
Another thing, perhaps the inspiration for some plots wasn’t from the idea that God could be bad, but maybe they’re based off other evil rulers in history or maybe even present day. The way I personally see it, the plot of the LEGO Movie could’ve been inspired by North Korea and that country’s lack of freedoms because of the Kim dynasty.
Again, not trying to say you’re wrong, and I certainly hope you don’t view me of someone who would feel sympathy for Satan; I just want you to consider the idea these films didn’t have any anti-god message as their moral.

This video in particular seems a little sensationalized. I definitely get the concern, but it kind of gives fear-mongering, shelter-everything type of vibes. Just because something has a Christian allegory in a different light doesn't mean it's evil and gnostic. Some of the examples given in the video and the comment section aren't even really applicable to a higher power, it just seems a bit much to shut out good lessons with a slight allegory that isn't meant to portray God anyway to 'protect the youth'. That’s so demonic & unnecessary. It’s sad how a lot of teachers in school aren’t teaching children what they Really need to learn about. Like for me, instead of them teaching about Jesus, they taught me astrology and Greek Gods. It made me think it was okay back then and I was led astray.

I was just thinking today how movies I grew up watching and still now the message is "follow your heart" but your video helped me realize it is so much deeper than that. I have a couple preteens and I am going to show them this video to help them understand better. Thank you!
I completely agree that movies push things, but I'm not really seeing it with movies you mentioned. Usually I just see the classic "I'm not going to follow what everyone else is doing, I'll discover my own destiny and live life my own way" message, which also isn't good. Wait, wait, wait. Too fast, too exaggerated. I don't think it's worth reducing the whole scenario to symbolism. In fact, it turns out that in this case, you can reduce to gnosticism any story where authority is questioned. But this is not very correct. Maybe it means that not every authority should look like God, and not every rule should be considered a commandment. After all, we are told that we must be wise as snakes.

Aren’t these movies more about being anti-capitalist and pro communist?

My frustration with this post is that you remark on Gnosticism in movies without acknowledging the influence of Gnosticism in our own religion. The ideas of Heaven and Hell as they are generally understood in so many churches are soaking with with gnostic influence. I’m all about trying to live a life above reproach, and as Christians, we have to be even more critical of our own fundamental ideals and understanding of scripture, and our ability to take the text to context. Anyways, thanks for sharing as always. Keep loving Jesus, and doing his work. God bless.
That being said, been in Hosea lately, and it is haunting how easily we can lose our saltiness amidst the empire we live in. Important to remember that genuine worship of the one most high and loving our neighbors sacrificially are the foundation God calls us to. Nothing above those things.
@@bigbucks0692 I’m trying to understand how mainstream Christianity is not full of Gnosticism itself? Don’t Christians believe everyone is going to hell by default or do they believe we all go to heaven no matter what because Jesus is Lord & He alone saved the world from sin? It always sounded to me like Christianity has more bad news than good news & I think that is the result of Gnosticism.
@@bigbucks0692I mean this in all gentleness, but trusting in Jesus to pay for our sins is the true foundation as outlined in 1 Corinthians 3. Not our works, nothing. No one can set another foundation, and everything else must come after. I agree with loving our neighbors and living in truth, which is true worship according to Scripture, but the Bible in Hebrews says it is impossible to please God without faith. Jesus is the cornerstone/foundation laid by God, and everything else is because we love Him. God bless and have a wonderful day! 🙏

Your description of Gnosticism is incorrect. Gnosticism has many branches, similar to the way that Protestantism does, but the general idea is that the Supreme God is unknowable and incomprehensible, as well as perfect. Our material world, according to Gnosticism, could not have come directly from this perfect being, but was created by a subordinate "demiurge," who had a nightmare that created the material world. Gnosticism views all material substance, particularly that which is associated with procreation, as sinful. Procreation is the method in which the divine spark in humanity is imprisoned in this sinful material world. Many Gnostic groups were opposed to procreation or sexual intercourse because of the connection with the material world.

I think some of these movies are written with no philosophical or theological intent but as critiques of the world. The material world works similarly to the way gnostics think the spiritual world works, so the movies can be interpreted either way.
Some seem to be written with an intentional gnostic theme.
Some are just trying to be like other movies that have been successful.

I think the truman show could be seen in an opposite way. It could be seen as Truman living in a life of sin that he’s always known so that’s his normal. Eventually he starts realizing this isn’t how he wants life and that he wants to really live. People had been trying to tell him that he wasn’t living in the truth but sin and the devil deceived him into thinking everything was perfect and okay. When the man who made the show speaks to him, he’s telling him he should stay in this perfect world, no matter how miserable he is. But he decides that he’d rather live the life in the truth and turns away from a life offered to him by the devil
