I'm a guy, and I LOVE that there is a black person that shows ACTUALLY 4C hair and how it operates. My hair does thee EXACT same thing!!! You know my struggle. Also great to see another beautiful dark-skin individual in the natural hair community (With 4C natural hair). I've personally been twisting my hair, and it's been GROWING, surprisingly. It went from 3 1/2 -4" to 5" in a month. Which has NEVER happened in my decade of trying to grow my hair out. The twist do extend the length of my hair, but not necessarily to the longest possible, and it doesn't last long, after about 2 days, my hair can not maintain the length and great style of the twist out.
@@carinaraymond2 well I wonder what hair type I am because my hair would shrink with a relaxer, I mean truly shrink up when the humidity hit it. And while I don't think I am 4C, it shrinks quite a bit when it's wet or when humidity gets in it
@@sable7114 Wow that's powerful stuff for your curls to ignore a relaxer lol! I think all the type 4s shrink, (and even 3s) but vary by curl size. Smaller curls or kinks from top to bottom = more length not shown until straightened or stretched. Not all hair is included in the typing system though. Viv may have 4b, or something off the charts because her hair kinks all over randomly yet stays pretty straight, like type 2. Some parts of my hair kind of kink randomly too or don't shrink as much so I'm not sure either. It's an interesting journey! I hope you can figure it out! I'm still not sure: all I know is that I can relate to the experiences of some 4c youtubers (for most of my head), and I cannot relate much to others, such as Viv, who I watch for her personality more than anything!
SP this is literally the exact results I get for each method you did. Well except wave formers cause I have yet to try it. Blow drying is my #1 but my second is bantu knots (medium size) then braids. Thanks for trying all at once! I'm going to try the waveformers.... it's long overdue, I've had it in my closet for a year..lol
Being a visual learner your videos are very easy to grasp the concept that natural hair IS not a quick study BUT worth the time to achieve the greatness of having it. Danielle, Puhleeze come up with a kaleidoscope of head gear...please!?
I would love to see their prices come down significantly and it truly seems is though my vacuum cleaner would do the same although I don't know how much heat the vacuum cleaner produces.
I use to do threading all the time (I'm Nigerian) but the work it takes was too much so I switched to banding and I get pretty good results (I make sure to lubricate the bands with oil for less breakage). I'll have to try curlformers though!
I couldnt do a twist out for like 3 years after i went natural. It just never worked. My hair didn’t actually “curl” until about the 3 year mark. Only the very tips would coil when wet. It was weird lol. As my hair grew it started curling and coiling and waving up the hair strands. So one day i took my twists out to wash my hair and the form stayed. I was like “😲😵 my hair finally did it!” It was a glorious day
My hair is fine hair also like Fluff Nugget. Twist your hair in @ 6-8 sections, pull and pin them on opposite side of your head, tie w your scarf go to bed then take them out- stretched hair.
Heyyy friendddd 👋🏾 the trick to twist outs is twisting as far down as you can then rewetting, moisturizing, smoothing and/or detangling the ends to make the curls pop and finger coil or Bantu knot just the ends. I’ve noticed the look of our ends makes or breaks a style and as long as the ends lookin poppin, even if the roots are a frizzy Suga Bush, it looks more put together. So Even if I’m doing a “dry” twist out, I always wet and remoisturize the ends so I can get the stretch w/o sacrificing allll the definition.
Please consider linking the songs you use in the videos, the music you played when taking down each part made me feel like a video game character just destroying a whole level perfectly
Star puppy: I'm gonna get serious about growing and taking care of my hair! Fluff nugget: 😍🤠 Star puppy: I'm gonna stretch and manipulate my hair a million different ways to Sunday!🙃🤡 Fluff nugget:😰😤
Finally some of my hair truth. I use the brush dryer every 3-4 months. I recently decided to skip the twist out and just put in twists every 2 wks on wash day. This new routine makes me think I will be emotionally ready for locs by the end of 2021. Still pulling and watching them spring back like slinkies.
You are the only TH-camr I've seen with real 4C hair, that makes me happy, my 4C hair is a pain in the ass, I want to shave it off so bad but I won't give up on it yet.
Oh wow! My daughter-in-law, granddaughter and I, really enjoyed your video!! We were quite entertained. By the way my daughter-in-law loved how you tied your scarf. Perhaps you can give a demonstration. You are a beautiful young lady. Thanks for sharing your joy.
"I think I can eyeball it" killed me! I literally LOL'd. Love your everything, Star Puppy. - Your low-porosity fine haired, 90%+ shrinkage 4c follower. Fun fact: I cut my almost shoulder length hair to a pixie cut and you cannot tell the difference. The shrinkage is all too real.
Hi 😊 I normally keep my mouth shut but I wanted to help! Braids and twists give better stretch if you braid/flat twist from the root but it's best for braid/twist outs. If I want to stretch my 4c strands I twist my hair to air dry overnight and blow-dry the next day on low heat. Works wonders.
I have 4c hair too. I remember I first went natural, my stylist was like you’re going to have to keep you’re hair stretched. I didn’t know what she meant back then but I definitely started realizing why she said it.
You read my mind! I was just thinking about how I wanted to try four of these methods two days ago... this video is a gift I don't deserve *cue angels descending from the sky* Thank you so much💜
twist out can kick rocks unless i want to wear my hair short. Braid outs and I are besties after a good deep condition and with a creamy twisting butter like Camille rose almond jai.
For stretching I stay clear of water based products to prevent fluff and use a pommade. No leave in. Qhemet makes the best products for thick hair. Revlon blow dryer brush for heat stretching and African threading for non-heat stretching.
Have you ever tried making a bun? Would love to see how it looks ( like the one with multiple scrunchies to make it look big). And also a slick down low pony with gel?
Well done Danielle ! And actually for the threading method, it its one of the most effective way to stretch type 4 hair, but I agree that it can make the ends EXTRA dry 😒 (that's why I don't use it often. Also my arms hurt. A LOT.) Anyway, trust and believe that I liked that video with the quickness !
I loved this video and your adventure in hair care. Your hair is flourishing. 💙 I just added the blow dryer to my cart for me and my daughters hair. Thanks 😊
i recently learned that my hair has really bad shrinkage so i wanna thank you for making videos like these. Ive learned a lot and im confident that I can manage my hair better after watching these videos...Thank you :-*
My go to is threading, banding and braid outs for non heat I do a twist out after for volume. Nowadays I like blowdrying with medium heat haven't had any issues and my hair is THRIVING
You should try the banding method with scrunches. I like to do that, put aloe gel and Shea butter on the sections, and then blow dry the next day with a little water (after wash day) Edit: I band big sections because I’m lazy and braid the tips with a bunch of butter on them and aloe gel. I think I figured out the secret; focus on weighing down and stretching the ends. Sometimes I’d only do 4 ponytails and braid the ends and work with that

When that siren sounded in the background as you talked about the curl formers/waveformers and I saw your little footnote, I died!! It was PERFECT timing.🤣
You should try kimmaytube's L2 stretch. It's twisting your hair, then rolling that twist onto a large magnetic roller. Works very well with a leave in and a little Shea butter.
