I am truly impressed.
They’ve done it. They’re just one step away from making this the best machine on the market. All they need is 16:9 when you plug in to a monitor and not 3:2, that’s it. That would literally be it.
Or how about an adaptable ratio and resolution based on your monitor like any real computer

@Ryan Oneal it doesn't have the features professionals need. But if the M1Ipad can support MacOS apps that would literally mean I can create a mobile workstation. I have felt that iPads were the best value for money product line Apple has had for years since the introduction of Pencil. MacOS grade apps would mean a complete integration.
iPad pro near perfect. Unfortunately it's not running Mac os. I was hoping they finally would make it a hybrid device of sort. When you attach a keyboard it would automatically switch to mac os. Hopefully they will do something like that for the pro line at some point. The hardware is now officially capable of it
IOS 15 is supposed to change the iPad interface completely… so maybe a little closer then?

At this point, iPad pro 2021 + IOS can support pro apps just as well as the mac. I'm gonna order the 2 Tb option.

@@akshayiyer4996 The 1TB and 2TB versions have 16GB RAM. Other models have 8GB RAM.
It is pretty possible that next gen ipad pro may replace macbook air as a all in one style device with a battery extending keyboard offered as macbook air already lacks any kind of active cooling. Only thing left is full macos support and ipad pro will have additional features such as promotion, pencil, high tier cameras etc. Apple may have a new cheaper macbook air aşmed at students though
Now that Logitech finally released a combo touch keyboard case for the iPad Pro so one does not have to be stuck with the magic keyboard that lacks versatility and protection, iPad really is making another step towards being a MacBook replacement!

As someone who has grown up using Android, Windows, I can appreciate developing great tech. I think Apple is smart in moving towards the long game of creating ARM based processor and moving the ipad and MacOS slowly together. Windows failure in ARM was a learning experience for Apple. I think by making a only a few chips M1 that go into everything, it'll make it a lot easier for developers to optimize.

I really hope they will be releasing monitors with the same technology in the near future at an affordable price. Read way below the 5000USD of the XDR display. If they do that I would consider adding one of those to my MacBook Air M1.

They might eventually. The iPad is competing with the iMac, and might be dropped like the iPod.

Alright, now seems like a good time to swap my beloved 2nd gen iPad pro for this new one :)
Lets hope that they update iPadOS at WWDC to leverage the power. Software has been the biggest handicap in iPads for years, and some better software and support for more "pro" level apps could help this replace laptops

Really cool but 1099 just seems gratuitous for a tablet and I can't imagine what the storage tiers run-up to, but the bill of materials between the lowest and highest spec must be less than a 5% difference in price, who needs J-pow when you have Tim Cook on the money printer.

Apple should now release a Final Cut Pro version for iPad OS, as well as LR, PS… this will be the real game changer on a M1 16GB 1 or 2 TB & thunderbolt iPadPro. Waiting for a unified OS…

The Macbook should literally just be this with a detachable keyboard.
I think that's the future of apple's notebooks at least, but maybe a little ways down the line. Right now they make more money keeping things seperate.

Juuuuuuust wait for WWDC 2021 and hope for our favorite pro apps to hit the iPad. Would be great to have touch optimized versions of them instead of literally using the macOS UI.

after scaling everything up so you can read it, (icons, webpages etc) you wouldn't know the difference between 4k and whatever the ipad is due to it being so small. Your battery, however, would lol

Magsafe isn't powerful enough to charge an iPad battery properly. There's definitely no Magsafe hardware here.

Apple marketing message sucks when comparing the latest iPad performance with a first generation iPad. The message I got was that the latest iPad is not higher than the previous generation iPad by a great deal. it is like comparing a university graduate witha kindergarten graduate.
The part I hate is that the 11 inch doesn’t get the XDR mini-led to 1000 bits full screen to 1600 nits peak brightness, just a plain old 600 nits with no mimi-led or XDR display BORING, I expected more form that what a disappointment

Apple really focusing on professional use of this device. I expect that the iPad Pro will become mandatory in many design related studies. The only thing left is a new Apple pencil.

Yes the iPad Pro hardware is just absolutely insanely awesome. And then it hits you that iPadOS will never allow you to get the most of the hardware. Its like buying Fugaku, the 442 petaflop monster Japanese supercomputer and loading windows 95 on it.
Sadly the iPadOS is still a glorified mobile OS and already held back the previous iPad Pro. With this new iPad Pro that gap between Pro hardware and the mobile OS will become even more pronounced. Despite Apple's marketing we all know iPadOS just doesn't allow the iPad Pro to be your only "Computer", not for Professional people anyway.
I really hope now that Mac and iPad is running M1 we will get a Pro OS for iPad Pro, some kind of merge between iPadOS and MacOS to really take advantage of that amazing hardware.
To me simple things that are still missing
1. Multi User support like Android and other OS has had for ages.
2. External screen output at native external screen resolution and not just screen mirror but a proper second screen
3. Keep working on improving file manager at least offering ability to format external storage with different filesystems and better file copy status indicator especially over network.
4. Support more filesystems for external storage
5. Consolidate all settings for keyboard, mouse, pen in one menu option rather than scattered everywhere
6. On the topic of mouse and keyboard the use of it can still be improved, mouse input using office productivity apps on Safari is still flakey for both O365 and Google Docs.
7. Need a App tray like iOS just got or Android has had for many years. I really really don't need all my damn apps on my desktop like I'm a toddler
8. Ability to place widgets anywhere allowing me to have a clean clutter free desktop
9. Full on MacOS Safari and Chrome from the Mac. Online design services like Marvel Apps or even AWS consoles work well on desktop but simply does not work well on iPad. Heck some online services like Sendgrid, the console just crashes on login.
10. Perhaps a bit more freedom to sideload apps. Really frustrating that apps like Synology DSGet is not allowed on iOS. (will ever happen)
11. Hopefully all that Mac Silicone productivity apps make their way to iPad too like full MS Office rather than the current gimped mobile version.
Sadly, its clear Apple still think of the iPad as a large iPhone/Toy/Consumption device
I am hoping they will draw a line though the iPad family where the Pro line actually gets a more Pro OS and the regular iPads that are more geared towards consumption, running the mobile OS aka iPadOS
Honestly they should market each product with their own selling points:
iPad Mini line-Portability
iPad line-Battery champs
iPad Air line-Digital Art and media consumption
iPad Peo line-The everything in one with pro grade apps
so the 11" is not pro any more

They've had controller support forever you dumbass(just the new controllers are now also supported) . The reason for being against xcloud was completely different(though still not justified)
Controller support has nothing to do with Xcloud. Improving controller support is good for all games.

I definitely am not an apple person. I'm generally against their overpriced devices and their anti-consumer actions sometimes. But ever since the M16 macs they have not missed. I'm a lifelong Android and Windows user (I do have a 2008 macbook for Microsoft word and web browsing) and these latest batches of Android phones just keep disappointing me because they're all turning into iPhones. Slabs of glass with metal in between them, no expandable memory, no headphone jacks. Outside of the fold and mate X series of phones, there is nothing compelling about Android phones. And I sure as hell ain't paint 2,500 for an Android phone. I get the iPhone isn't perfect. And is generally limited by iOS. But at this point I don't see why I should stick with Android. iOS has better apps, the third party accessories are more plentiful for Apple devices, and software is supported for much longer as well as being much better integrated with each device. I'm about to upgrade to an iPhone 13 Pro MAX from my Galaxy S20 FE. We'll see how far I go down the apple rabbit hole

We just dotted some tiny new changes to hype everyone up and buy it straight away! We thought smart... the latest iPad before this one was released just 6 months ago making you regret buying it and forcing you to buy the expensively overpriced newer one! Now, we just wanted to use the same darn M1 chip and didn’t want to make it faster… to make up for this, over the next few weeks, we will be slowing down every other iPad model under this one existing on this planet! By doing this, people will think their devices are old and they need an upgrade giving us more money coz you know what, we don’t care about our customers… all we care about is money so we get paid more! We just had to add a few more pixels to the screen so we can advertise it as a state of the art technologically developed waffle waffle waffle so we can drag the attention of more customers with the same exact screen… isn’t that smart? The “new” screen is only available on the 12.9 inch model and not the 11 inch model making you spend more money! We also just had to add 2 Terabytes of storage as we weren't asked to add anything new or more ram! Also, by adding 2TB, we could price our iPads £2100+ with the top specs! This will also break your bank giving us more money! Now onto the cameras! We didn’t even touch the cameras or the LIDAR scanner and kept it the same not adding anything new whilst advertising it as “a whole new camera system with ultra ultra ultra ultra wide angle and an infinite zoom”! Our cameras are yet still fuzzy when you zoom in times 3+! We also advertise our iPads as “a professional camera” to make people go out with their massive iPads taking a photo of every thing they see! Now, that’s it from us, start saving now to get out £2000 iPad which is more expensive than out ugly iMac and some of our MacBook lineup making you waste your money making us richer (not that we already aren’t 🤑)

Because the camera system is expensive, they have to waterproof it, and because they have to figure out how to miniaturise everything enough to fit it without sacrificing anything else too much
5g modems, Samsung Amoled displays, Camera sensors, Wireless charging coils, water proofing, stainless steel frame, glass back. Everything costs extra money.

You're asking for a pc attitude from apple. Apple knows that most users don't care about features, they want a few things, and they want them good without issues. That's apple. If you want features, build a custom pc functioning as a cloud computer station for your android phone.

the m1 is a better low powered mobile chip than anything the industry has came up with. the mini LED display in here is also miles ahead of anything short of OLED. together with great sound, fluid ecosystem and sleek design, i dont know why you're so mad. i use PC as it fits my workflow better but the ipad pro is nothing short of amazing
