Because the M1 in the Ipad is limited to (10W +/- 2W) so 8-12W. This is okay for many applications, but full blow final cut pro would push the ipad to it's absolute limit and only give like 2 hours battery life.

This was an amazing announcement. Ever since I ended my career in corporate videography and started TH-cam a few weeks ago, my equipment requirements have drastically changed. I no longer need tons of equipment. The iPad Pro is now my main editing device. It's so fast. From editing 4k footage to exporting it, it destroys Premiere's performance on my 2017 MacBook Pro (Fully maxed out). The M1 is a welcomed addition to the iPad. I cannot wait to see what's coming in the future.
I'd be okay with the iPhone 15 and onward having the Thunderbolt port (maybe on the Pro models) because I say that Thunderbolt is true USB-C connection with even faster speeds and a very simple connection.
Just ordered the 12.9 2021 iPad (256gb). I've been an Android junky all my life, only having a couple iPods back in high school. I'm a full time artist, working on other tablets and monitors. I was going to get the 2020 version, then this was announced. I'm so so excited. And who knows, if I fall in love with iOS hard enough, may even get my first iPhone (due for a new phone anyway).

12.9 definitely due to miniLED so you can feel better that it's new. It's the first change in display for iPads from LCD to miniLED. If you'll use it for studying...watch Samuel suresh videos. Procreate will also be best with 12.9 miniLED and media consumption due to 1000-1600nits miniLED in 12.9....1000nits is the minimum standard for HDR movies
I guess the overheating problem would be much better with the M1 chip. My current 2018 one is just killing me as the brightness keeps changing due to that problem.
I didn’t hear them mention the battery life on this, because my 2018 model has had horrible battery life made even worse by the magic keyboard draining it even more. I have an m1 MacBook Pro and the battery like on that is amazing so this should be great.

Unless you are an artist that can take advantage of the pencil, I feel like it would be a better value to go with a MacBook Air because you aren’t limited to the App Store
It has better screen for watching movies with that 1000nits-1600nits brightness since 1000nits is the standard minimum for HDR films....and better for gaming due to 120hz display. With Levo g2 deluxe and controller, 120hz iPads are beast so you can play even while lying on bed or reclining....plus it's more fun to use even for productivity and managing your ideas and what you've read from different sources. But for demanding tasks...macbooks are better. But we have to wait for WWDC for what this M1 iPad Pros can do.

2020 iPad Pro is still an awesome device and likely more than enough for your needs. A lot of this already was/is possible on the 2020 iPad Pro (and Air 4 for that matter). 2020 pro already has promotion display, it already has amazing graphics computing power, already has lidar, Apple Pencil, external display support, magic keyboard support, etc, etc, etc. The only real bump here is the new display tech in the 12.9 (and I would be shocked if it actually looks perceivable any better than the 2020 on a blind test), and the new CPU (but again, on a blind side-by-side I would be shocked if anyone could actually tell the difference), and thunderbolt 4 (but are you actually going to be using my peripherals with your iPad that will take advantage of thunderbolt 4?)
@@danielbrandes9967 yes I definitely agree that it's still a fantastic device, the m1 aspect for me really becomes significant if the iPad platform starts getting Mac professional grade apps like final cut, logic pro etc & if they also bring Mac level gaming..not that mac is a beast at gaming or anything but that would be a big deal for me. Basically if there are software applications to take advantage of the increased power I would consider upgrading to m1 ipad. It is looking more and more likely that ipad pro will start getting professional apps. As long as software doesn't take advantage of the m1 then it won't matter much whether you have the a12 or m1.

Even samsung tab s7+ is not color accurate that when you print stuffs it doesnt look like what's on the screen...hahaha.....only perfect black. iPads are color accurate and now with miniLED...it's even more color accurate. With 1000nits-1600nits in ipad pro miniLED, movies can be watched closest to what's intended by creators since 1000nits is the standard minimum in HDR. And now....more developers will develop for iPads since macbooks and iPad Pros have same chip. You can already model 3D on IPad Pro using Shpr3d or Onshape Apps. I’m a structural engineer and use Shpr3d on a 2018 IPad Pro. Cant wait to get this one with M1 Chip.
I Thought That They Would Use The A14X Bionic Instead Of The Apple M1 Because The M1 Is A 18W Chip And The A14X Would Be 5W And Even Though M1 Is Super Efficient, The MacBook Air Still Requires A Beefy Passive Cooling System To Prevent Throttling. Not a hard choice, it’s barely any heavier/larger. I never had an issue carrying my 12.9 around, it feels like my phone tbh but little heavier. Idk why people use the 11 inch (50% less screen size) to save in barely any size/weight. 🤣💀
@@MobileAura 12.9 fit tight in my backpack, the pack is already heavy itself. I enjoy bringing the 11 inch more and it fits better anywhere. Also I do notice more 11 inch on the go than the 12.9. Not that weight is a huge issue but it’s definitely more portable and feel better carrying it by hands or in the backpack everywhere you go while not really losing anything to the extra 1.9 inch. But having said that I will move to the new 12.9 for the better display. I flipped enough ipad pros this year for it to be practically free

Apple makes its own chips. Profitable companies are Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Nvidia, Microsoft, Netflix, Zoom so these are the stocks you want to own. Also buy Wells Fargo, Disney for the recovery....
There is NO getting around it now. The talks will inevitably be focused on needing a iPadOS/MacOS hybrid OS to take advantage of all that power. NO switching, transforming modes or bootcamp. They only make things too clunky and complicated, compromising the simplicity and ease of use of the iPad. Windows tried that with Windows 8 and Samsung Dex is a mobile OS dressed up to look like a desktop OS. Apple MUST tackle the very difficult challenge of making one seamless OS (iPadOS) to be simple easy to use, while making is as powerful and feature rich as MacOS. The best of both worlds.
So you mean to tell me that this iPad Pro will have up to 16gb of RAM? If you have an iPad Pro and also bought an M1 MBA, I think you just got bamboozled.

Sure the iPadOS still doesn't have the professional apps of the MacOS but the M1 iPad Pro is pretty much a great laptop replacement. If you are in the market for an iPad Pro, you are definitely not the person that should be buying an M1 MBA, you're going to have to step up to a Macbook Pro or iMac which is in line of what I said.

No way, I own the 2018 pro and my s7+ Samsung is a toy compared to my iPad. I’m a huge Samsung fanboy too, it’s just not in the same league. The 2021 is a god compared to the s7+. S7+ still hasn’t optimized codm/pubg, making the games unplayable. It’s such a joke, I just keep it in my backpack I haven’t used it more than once every 2-3 weeks.
Hey Apple, fix the poor speaker quality. Sounds like monitor speakers with muffled sounds and unclear voices. Pass on M1 iPad Pro. Look forward to M2 iPad Pro where you can actually hear voices crisp like the older iPads.

2020 iPad Pro is still an awesome device and likely more than enough for your needs. A lot of this already was/is possible on the 2020 iPad Pro (and Air 4 for that matter). 2020 pro already has promotion display, it already has amazing graphics computing power, already has lidar, Apple Pencil, external display support, magic keyboard support, etc, etc, etc. The only real bump here is the new display tech in the 12.9 (and I would be shocked if it actually looks perceivable any better than the 2020 on a blind test), and the new CPU (but again, on a blind side-by-side I would be shocked if anyone could actually tell the difference), and thunderbolt 4 (but are you actually going to be using my peripherals with your iPad that will take advantage of thunderbolt 4?)
@@danielbrandes9967 yes I definitely agree that it's still a fantastic device, the m1 aspect for me really becomes significant if the iPad platform starts getting Mac professional grade apps like final cut, logic pro etc & if they also bring Mac level gaming..not that mac is a beast at gaming or anything but that would be a big deal for me. Basically if there are software applications to take advantage of the increased power I would consider upgrading to m1 ipad. It is looking more and more likely that ipad pro will start getting professional apps. As long as software doesn't take advantage of the m1 then it won't matter much whether you have the a12 or m1.

High price tag without pro apps, uh, iPad pro is not for me as a filmmaker, I need pro tools and functions to do masking, colour grading and stuff like that. FCP on a Mac is perfect for me.

Even samsung tab s7+ is not color accurate that when you print stuffs it doesnt look like what's on the screen...hahaha.....only perfect black. iPads are color accurate and now with miniLED...it's even more color accurate. With 1000nits-1600nits in ipad pro miniLED, movies can be watched closest to what's intended by creators since 1000nits is the standard minimum in HDR. And now....more developers will develop for iPads since macbooks and iPad Pros have same chip. Many best apps are also exclusive to iPads like Procreate with great natural looking brushes...and Goodnotes 5 as discussed by Samuel suresh

You can already model 3D on IPad Pro using Shpr3d or Onshape Apps. I’m a structural engineer and use Shpr3d on a 2018 IPad Pro. Cant wait to get this one with M1 Chip.

I Thought That They Would Use The A14X Bionic Instead Of The Apple M1 Because The M1 Is A 18W Chip And The A14X Would Be 5W And Even Though M1 Is Super Efficient, The MacBook Air Still Requires A Beefy Passive Cooling System To Prevent Throttling. And The Main Reason Was That The Base Variant Of 12.9 IPad Pro Is Still Cheaper Than The MacBook Pro 13. These IPads Will Surely Cannibalize On Their MacBook Sales.

Not a hard choice, it’s barely any heavier/larger. I never had an issue carrying my 12.9 around, it feels like my phone tbh but little heavier. Idk why people use the 11 inch (50% less screen size) to save in barely any size/weight. 🤣💀
@@MobileAura 12.9 fit tight in my backpack, the pack is already heavy itself. I enjoy bringing the 11 inch more and it fits better anywhere. Also I do notice more 11 inch on the go than the 12.9. Not that weight is a huge issue but it’s definitely more portable and feel better carrying it by hands or in the backpack everywhere you go while not really losing anything to the extra 1.9 inch. But having said that I will move to the new 12.9 for the better display. I flipped enough ipad pros this year for it to be practically free

There is NO getting around it now. The talks will inevitably be focused on needing a iPadOS/MacOS hybrid OS to take advantage of all that power.
NO switching, transforming modes or bootcamp. They only make things too clunky and complicated, compromising the simplicity and ease of use of the iPad.
Windows tried that with Windows 8 and Samsung Dex is a mobile OS dressed up to look like a desktop OS.
Apple MUST tackle the very difficult challenge of making one seamless OS (iPadOS) to be simple easy to use, while making is as powerful and feature rich as MacOS. The best of both worlds.

Sure the iPadOS still doesn't have the professional apps of the MacOS but the M1 iPad Pro is pretty much a great laptop replacement. If you are in the market for an iPad Pro, you are definitely not the person that should be buying an M1 MBA, you're going to have to step up to a Macbook Pro or iMac which is in line of what I said.

No way, I own the 2018 pro and my s7+ Samsung is a toy compared to my iPad. I’m a huge Samsung fanboy too, it’s just not in the same league. The 2021 is a god compared to the s7+. S7+ still hasn’t optimized codm/pubg, making the games unplayable. It’s such a joke, I just keep it in my backpack I haven’t used it more than once every 2-3 weeks.
Hey Apple, fix the poor speaker quality. Sounds like monitor speakers with muffled sounds and unclear voices. Pass on M1 iPad Pro. Look forward to M2 iPad Pro where you can actually hear voices crisp like the older iPads.
