He's the embodiment of quantum mechanics. He's a superposition of all of those stories at the same time. He is entangled in many histories at once.
Lol, bringing it back to the constant Biblical references and tying it in with his power, the Phantom Stranger may have literally became the multiversal embodiment of "The Good Samaritan": A nameless stranger, past irrelevant/unknown, who doesn't care who you are, and nonetheless chooses to help because... Well because it's the decent thing to do.
He basically became that literally: The Pure DC Platonic concept of "The Good Samaritan." His past could be anything, everything, nothing, doesn't matter. Who "the Good Samaritan" was or what their origins were is meaningless and contradicted the lesson in the parable. The point was that the kind stranger chose to help a stranger, from an enemy people no less, purely because it was the decent thing.

Honestly, why not? We story historical figures and mythological ones. They too are stories, just ones in a slightly different context. The carvings on a wall in ancient egypt might once have been much like our comics on a rack.

If you look at the old Charlton Comics character, The Mysterious Traveler, I can't help but feel that Ditko laid the groundwork for Phantom Stranger. The similarities in appearance are just a bit too much for me to dismiss.

His backstory doesn't matter, he's nameless, but ultimately benevolent, he helps seemingly for the sake of helping, he's a multiversal entity whose existence comes in an infinite number of differing interpretations from universe to universe like the higher-dimensional concept gods of DC's multiverse, and his backstory is loaded with Biblical references.
....Guys, think about it, we know higher concept beings can exist, because Darkseid is literally the platonic concept of "Evil". The Phantom Stranger could be (or have turned themselves into) the concept of "The Good Samaritan" from the Bible.
When the world needed him most he vanished

My theory? He doesn't just have five backstories: he has 52. ...or more now, given recent events. The point is, he has a backstory for EVERY universe, but across the entire multiverse there is only one Phantom Stranger. He is the aggregate of his own existence.

Most things we know about the phantom stranger's backstories involve a sense of Guilt.
As huge as his shame was, he could not bear to rid the universe its knowledge of his shame. So in every layer he bears, his guilt is still weaved.
Maybe all the backstories are physical manifestations of a greater cosmic being.
Interestingly there is one where there is no guilt, the time-traveller backstory. The lack of guilt and the less magical nature of it makes it the most distinct of the origins (also it could encompass the 3 human-focused origins as well (Judas, the wandering Jew & the S&G origins) but this would exclude the angel backstory.

The reverse flash is a bootstrap paradox, his existence is what leads to his existence. He is right to say that he is a paradox. The Phantom Stranger is more than that, he is the equivalent of quantic uncertainty set in time instead of space and with a person instead of a particule. The reverse flash is a paradox and the stranger is a probability, the only moments when we know he is leaving people to wonder what the truth about him, making his existence in any time other than those where he is observed more uncertain.
This is my first time even hearing about him, and right away I'm already heavily intrigued and inspired. I'm definitely going to be looking more into this character.

The Judas Origin is just one piece and all of the others have been referenced since then as well so they are still in play. The whole Point of the Stranger is that his origin is a mystery, did you watch the video?

This is exactly what I love so much about DC. They don't just go "cosmic power" or "intense training" or some other bullshit like that for their more powerful characters. They always go batshit insane in the depts of philosophy to explain why powerful characters are powerful. Makes them a lot more interesting imo

But in real response, I would agree that having more of these kinds of episodes would be beyond incredible, but the flip-side to that is that the level of detail and investigation might start to suffer.

Want to know something interesting? Is fairly known that most of the angels have their name ending on "-el". In the Kabbalistic and Jewish text there are several angels that are mentioned whose names end in "-on". There is a strange coincidence about that. Angels ending in "-on", such as Metatron or Saldaphon have human origins, in this cases Enoch and Elias respectively. If we go by this logic Shamdon could have human origins. So the phantom stranger origins could go even further back from him being an angel.
It probably doesn't mean anything but is just food for thoughts.

Yes. He absorbed radiation from a meteor to obtain it. But how does it function within his body? How does said radiation make him immortal?

I've always thought he was a magician who achieved some form of perpetual universal consistency by combining the two closest parallel realities of himself, with his own "center" reality. Therein creating a form of energy and matter that literally exists in one plane of reality, yet 3, at the same time.
Creating an absolute powerhouse of an entity that can survive the entire multiverse being re-written.

i'd thought that the Stranger was a sort of singular point, existing in all universes simultaneously. He could have multiple origins because he exists across those universes and so has as many origins as there are universes.
That's what I was thinking, but the thing is he's also, at the and time, all of the versions of himself. So he's everywhere and only in one place/universe at a time... unless he's in all those universes and versions of himself at the same time... Simultaneously all of them at the same time, in all universes. Which could explain why he "knows" so much or why he's so aware of things that others aren't. Which is why any changes in the multiverse doesn't effect him, but he can remember how things were before they changed. And all that could be possible and explained by being an angel... dammit this character is interesting!
Very similar to Darkseid and the New Gods. It is arguable who is more powerful. Phantom Stranger or Darkseid himself. The debate could go on for hours.
@@thomaskilroy4573 DC's cosmology and Dimensional logic is definitely more intriguing and entertaining than Marvel's but it's as a result MUCH messier and more confusing. They really need to iron it out. You've Got the Presence and Lucifer Morningstar but then there's also Perpetua, The Empty Hand and The Source. They definitely are 5 separate entities and it's a mystery who is really the one telling the truth. Then you've also got Darkseid, Highfather and Orion. The Phantom Stranger, Trigon, Nabu, Hecate, The Old God's, Barbatos, Doctor Manhattan, Over monitor etc. They really need to flesh this stuff out lol.
@@himum3429 Um…no. The Presence and The Source are exactly the same entity. I fail to understand how any fan can think different? The Presence and The Source are and always have been just two different faces of the same Omnipotent being. DC’s version of God. The Presence is so called because he represents the ‘presence’ of the Source. And the Source because it is the ‘source’ of the Presence. It’s really not nearly as confusing as you think. Essentially The Source is the barrier that The Presence spun into existence to trap Omega inside. The Omega effect being the part of The Great Darkness itself that was able to separate. Omega is evil. And The Presence sent down it’s probe (an idea) to scout it out and combat it. Then trapped both in The Source and the DC Omniverse formed itself inside around both Omega, which soon evolved into Darkseid once combined with Uxas, and the Presence’s original idea and concept it sent down aka Superman. The idea of Superman sent down by the Supreme Being is what the entire DC Omniverse is built around. Different Multiversal versions aside there is always at least one Superman. The first superhero. The one that quite literally started it all. And Darkseid represents evil itself. Since that’s what he basically is. The source of all evil in existence. The Great Darknsess is just the extension of Darkseid that lives outside The Source. And beings like Trigon are not even anywhere near the same level as Darkseid. No matter how many clueless fake fans try and say different.

Even if the Source is The Presence, how does he compare to Perpetua who apparently created the Multiverse under the instructions of the Omniversal Hands? Are the Hands related to the Empty Hand and is the Presence one of them, below them or above them. If Darkseid is the Omega Antithesis to The Presence then what TF is the distinction between him and Lucifer bloody Morningstar. Is Highfather a facsimile of The Presence if Darkseid is also credited as HIS opposite. Is Orion a Michael Demiurgos parralel. Where Tf does Yuga Khan come into all of this or is he beyond them. Is Mr Mxy above all of them as a 6th dimensional being compared to the New God's 4th/5th dimensional true forms. If that's true then how tf did Jor el take him prisoner and if Doctor Manhattan is above BOTH of them then he must be above the New God's/Judeo Christian pantheon as well. Is the Presence part of the Source, the Source itself or does it emanate from him. Does Trigon reside outside the DC Multiverse or in a pocket of it. Where does The Phantom Stranger lie in this hierarchy.
I'm not having a go at Dc here, I'm just pointing out the gaping holes in their tapestry. The tapestry is vastly more interesting than the Marvel one imo but it is UNDENIABLY full of Final crisis like holes in reality lol. If you can help me out with understanding any of this stuff I'd be very interested.

...my headcanon is the phantom stranger is an entity made by the fusion of several entities from several universes and timelines. It would make sense for the multiple origins, the immunity to retcons and resets, the ability to being anywhere at any time.
Listening to this makes me realize how much Supernatural tried to get right from a mythos standpoint.
Tyler definitely deserves more subs. It seems like all his videos get several hundred thousand to a few million views. And each and every single one of them is high quality and thoroughly researched.
If he posted more than twice a year I'm sure he would have more lol

@@DefenestrateYourself obviously I was exaggerating...still one post ever 2 months is a snail's pace for a youtuber. The only other high sub count people I know that post THAT infrequently are supereyepatchwolf and Nexpo. Both of which put out only the highest quality of videos and have taken forever to get where they're at. I was just saying that if Imaginary Axis posted more frequently he would rocket up the subs list but since his posts are so few and far between most new people that get hooked on one of his videos lose interest before they ever get to see another one.

@@ubaidullah5388 No, the presence is the Abrahamic God and the in-universe creator of everything in DC. But he is still the Writer's creation. When the writer want's to enter the story, he does. For example, when Grant Morison was writing Animal Man, he literally showed up in the story and started messing with animal man's head by making him do things out of character.

"External forces" to the scale of the Presence is canonically "The other creative universes/multiverses". Like the Marvel multiverse is canon in DC's cosmic framework. It's how all the cross-overs happen, the Presence and the One Above All (I.e. The writers) literally know each other and view eachother as contemporaries and see no issue with allowing their domains to interact periodically.
Similarly, the Monitor race of entities that exist Outside the DC reality are a direct allegory and a combination of the demands of their business and their fanbase. Pretty much everything "external" to the DC realm that the Presence mentioned is quite literally a reference to realworld elements that apply pressures to the goings-on of DC.
This is so cool. He reminds me of The Question, The Spectre, and Shade to a degree.

I grew up with your videos man, the first one I ever saw was your How Fast Is The Flash video, and I remember when you uploaded your Guide To The Marvel Multiverse video. Your videos have been a part of my childhood and have shaped the way that I am. It's been amazing seeing your videos change and improve in quality just as much as I have.
