Fun thought experiment. As for figuring out the E-M frequency of Kryptonite radiation: 1) It could be a _combination_ of frequencies, perhaps there’s a resonance in Kryptonian biology, so each frequency on its own isn’t harmful, but if you get exactly the right combo, each boosts the effectiveness of the others, weakening Superman. Some is particles. Maybe kryptonite is emitting some particle that nothing else in the universe emits, which is why it’s so uniquely harmful, and there isn’t a whole class of similar minerals that have similar-but-lesser effects. Fun Fact: Irredeemables Plutonian actually achieves all of his Superman powers (Strength, Flight, Invulnerability, Laser Eyes) by subconsciously warping reality itself. He ain't making it so he's stronger than an opposing force, but rather altering physical laws so that opposing force is easier for him to counter and overcome. Plutonian was limited to his Superman power set because that is all he believed he could do. Once his mental limiters were removed, Plutonian became Silver Age Superman, literally granting himself any power he desired through simple thought. Bad news is that Plutonian went evil and was barely beatable even before he unlocked his full potential. Also, I definitely recommend watching Max Landis' Kryptonian Epic Series. Specifically the video where he explains the power mechanics for his versions of Superman, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman. PS Can we get a video explaining Viltrumite Powers?
Yup, Mark Waid wrote Irredeemable IIRC. He’s writing World’s Finest and Absolute Power over at DC right now. Meanwhile in the main Superman books, Brainiac just confirmed that there’s something more to Superman’s powers than Kryptonian biology and exposure to solar energy (meaning it’s exclusive to him and not even other Kryptonians). I think there’s a good chance they finally confirm the same thing with him. Heh, if he absorbs Source energy too, that’s another thing he has in common with a Kyber Crystal.
@@rcbmmines4579 Spoilers for Irredeemable: After tricking the Plutonian into absorbing radiation which left his indestructible body ravaged, his former teammates used a series of teleporters to scatter his very essence across the multiverse, tearing Plutonian himself apart and finally killing him. In a meta context, Plutonians scattered essence became the inspiration for OG Superman and all others like him (Homelander, Omni-Man, etc) that followed.
The following is Post "Crisis on Infinite Earths" Superman's invulnerability comes from a form of telekinesis called tactile telekinesis. He can control anything he is physically touches. His body generates a field that allows him to fly, makes anything close to his body indestructible (so his outfit is protected but his cape is not), and combined with his physical toughness protects him from injury. It also allows him to lift large objects without going through them (he noticed that when he lifted objects they seem to weight nothing when he's lifting them), but he can relax the field to allow himself to go through objects. Related: When they made a partial clone of Superman named Superboy his only actual superpower was tactile telekinesis. It allowed him to simulate some of this powers such as superstrength, flight and invulnerability. However, this "invulnerability" is only to physical objects but doesn't extend to energy attacks. As an example, he was assisting Steel returning to Earth after being knocked into high orbit by grabbing him. The heat from reentry made Steel's outfit superhot and the heat burned Superboy's hands. Eventually Superboy developed actual kryptonian powers.
This is one of the best channels in the entire TH-cam. Everything in your videos is damn perfect, from the accurate scientific explanations to the (always suggestive) endings. You deserve everything you get and much much more!
Fun fact, a sith or jedi can actually use intense force meditation to turn mundane crystals into artificial kyber. If this were to happen to a piece of kryptonite, it might just retain its properties when used in a lightsaber, making it at least have a chance at affecting superman that way. That combined with the fact that it was once said that the reason kryptonite affects kryptonians is because it inflicts upon them the reflected agony of their dead species, the pain-inundanted corrupted pseudo-kyber crystals used by the sith might actually be able to do some damage.
When Wonder Woman said "He's Back" right when Superman was resurrected by the Mother Box in the legendary Snydercut of Justice League, this is what she meant.

Superman's aura is nothing new, it has been around for a decade or two now... And just because it wasn't explained before doesn't mean it was retconned. Writers before then, simply didn't think much of it. Even the Flash has a similar aura to protect everything from his speed. Most superpowered ppl actually have more to their power than it appears on the surface. At least from DC. Superman would just tank a lightsaber either way. Even without the aura, and when we're pitting his basic structural cell integrity against it, he'd come out unscathed. He regularly withstands quintillions of tons of force with his body, and he's still lifting the objects he lifts, meaning his body has to match his aura's durability to be able to perform any of the feats he has. He dips into/flies through many stars and takes millions or billions of nukes to the face. Yeah, he's grabbing that shit (lightsaber) without an aura.
@@KNullHypothesis Would like to see a battle with Superman and a Sith lord, let the Sith strike, Superman grab the lightsabre - and then just, absorb the energy of it(in turn healing the pain of the Kaber crystal) then seeing the absolute look of horror and fear on the SIth's face - when his lightsabre just disappears and wont won't work, while Superman just looks and gives a wry half smile.
Fun fact, the bled crystal explanation is a very cool retcon hy Disney, but it was also true that cyber crystals were not naturally red before, and Sith would use synthetic red crystals. However, there is ONE planet that had "natural" red crystals, the plant Dathomir. Specifically in a cave with giant dark side attuned alien spider creatures...
Slight correction, it was Dantooine not Dathomir. It comes from the KotOR RPG where the player goes into the cave and harvests crystals from the eggs. The developers included all the common colors, including red, so that the player could choose whatever color suited their cosmetic preferences. At the time, this was technically "canon" to other Star Wars media, but it was primarily a game mechanic
@@AdamantineAxe It depends. Sometimes it actively depowers and hurts him (E.g. Superman and Lois), sometimes it just means he can't replenish his strength and the powers slowly fade as he uses his energy up (Late 80s/Early 90s). In one major event, with Superboy Prime, he and another version of himself were able to fly through a red star and come out the other side simply weakened greatly, which being Superman meant he was now barely bulletproof. Kryptonite also runs the gamut from "it hurts him but that gun still isn't working" through "Pain and fading powers" to "Instant Superman Off Button" and everything in between. 90 years of comcs, reboots, retcons, alternative universes and so on means we get a lot of variety in impact.
Time to enjoy your yearly video! I love them! Can you cover more esoteric comics next time please? I really enjoyed your videos on Darkseid, the New Gods, the Endless...
Funny thing about that, there are actually Lightsaber guns. 1. The Ancient Sith built a rifle that fires Lightsaber blasts at the cost of Khyber Crystals being used as ammo 2. The Separatists built a scaled up version of the Lightsaber Rifle called the Devastation which is a capital ships that can destroy planets like the Death Star 3. The Death Star uses Giant Khyber Crystals in order to focus it's power into a giant Lightsaber beam 4. The First Order uses Khyber Crystals as focusing Crystals in their Star Destroyers which greatly increases the firepower of the Turbo Lasers to make up for the fact that the First Order has significantly less Star Destroyers than the Empire.

@@TheTyroofToriyama honestly the only part that makes sense to me is when you say that he's fast.... everything else is just not good enough to me. It doesn't matter how strong he is....if your getting squash or shrink by something You Will eventually break..... And if you can't move out of there it will get worse... And once someone has you lock on with telekinesis you're not going to be able to get out of there. ( Unless you're capable of teleportation) and about the laser I'm pretty sure you can stop the laser before reaching you with the telekinesis
Long story short, if you could fuse both lores, the technology works like this: Light sabers channel soul power through crystals. It was designed at the beginning stages of Universe to ensure superior species can always win, but here they were used terribly as force sensitives started killing each other instead and almost went extinct despite being a superior race with all the means to prosper. Superman evolved on another planet and his species went through a much higher evolutionary pressure, meaning if he had a light saber, it would likely have to be made from a special kind of crystal as normal crystals have an energy ceiling, which means there would be pressure of force energies on the tip of his saber, likely causing it to bend on the top and the sound it would make while getting it out would be crazy compared to Jedi. His soul is also superior to the souls of force sensitives and as such light sabers wouldn't do much damage to him.
You know, I once made up this crossover story between Star Wars and Steven Universe where Kyber Crystals were actually Gem Shards left over from a Great War between the Je’daii and the gems long ago.

@@VunderGuy because in a story whoever wins is whoever the writer wants to win, in keeping with those themes.
So this video is a masterclass in how to actually do power scaling comparisons across universes
@@adnan_honest_jihadist5775 apples and oranges both have a lot in common. both are fruit, both are orbical, both grow on trees. relative to everything in the universe, apples and oranges might as well be the same thing. even just in the scope of fruit, apples and oranges are still super similar. if you wanted to stick to fruit it would've been better to say apples and eggplants, or apples and bananas if you wanted to stick to more traditional fruit

Here's a question that has been living in my head rent free for far too long. What is the better weapon: A lightsaber(StarWars) or a High-Frequency-Blade(Metal Gear)
AXIS IS BAXIS

In a world without MatPat, the imaginary axis has never been more necessary
I just realized, that means Electro would be completely immune to light sabers as well
Fun fact: There are naturally Red kyber crystals...in the Expanded Universe/Legends continuity. Vader even used one in his own lightsaber!
Not even Red Sun energy
I miss legends
@@xaayerlegends will always be there as long as we can make up whatever shit we want and write it down.
And light saber crystals do not have to be kyber in legends.
Tyler! So good to see you uploading again! We met at Baltimore Comic Con last year and talked about the new uniform. It was such an honor to meet you!
Watching imaginary axis every other year is like opening a time capsule at this point

9 minutes to an imaginary axis video, awesome!
The VSauce Comics man remembered his account.
Awesome to see another video. You were also really great in that Death Battle Cast episode a few months ago.

The following is Post "Crisis on Infinite Earths"
Superman's invulnerability comes from a form of telekinesis called tactile telekinesis.
Bro finally managed to recover his password
So good to have you back!
The ability to reflect light saber is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

When Wonder Woman said "He's Back" right when Superman was resurrected by the Mother Box in the legendary Snydercut of Justice League, this is what she meant.

He’s flown through a red sun, he has canonically beaten marvel’s Thor and fought black Adam and captain marvel, he’s beat beings who had kryptonite and from what I’ve heard, cas has almost literal plot manipulation. He’s also dealt with giant robots before soo…
@@basimali619 there are many versions of superman
The version I’m talking about is on of the animated ones that always seems to lose
There are videos that basically make it a reoccurring joke
@@supermaximglitchy1 oh, ok. I was referring to the main continuity superman from the comics, as he’s done all the things listed above.
A lightsaber with a kyber crystal mixed with kryptonite could kill Superman
Some versions of Superman are immune or highly resistant to cryptonite.
I love how he has kind of a game theory editing style now
i love it when writers giving cop-outs for the existence of basic physics retroactively makes a character immune to entire forms of attack
I just kinda thought that since Superman can easily fly through the center of suns, a lightsaber can't do damage to him
He held a black hole once without incident. He could probably tank the death star to the face and barely need to dust off his suit.
@@neodigremo That's the bigger question then: How does his suit survive lightsabers?
@@SM-zn6rfHis suit is in range of his aura so the lightsabers couldn’t touch it either.
Rays from a red sun remove superman's powers
unless they've ret-conned that
@@AdamantineAxe It depends.
90 years of comcs, reboots, retcons, alternative universes and so on means we get a lot of variety in impact.

that ending was so cool. love it
very excited to hear that new content is coming, your content is what got me interested in comics in the first place
Maybe if the lightsaber had a gun……
Funny thing about that, there are actually Lightsaber guns.
1. The Ancient Sith built a rifle that fires Lightsaber blasts at the cost of Khyber Crystals being used as ammo
2. The Separatists built a scaled up version of the Lightsaber Rifle called the Devastation which is a capital ships that can destroy planets like the Death Star
3. The Death Star uses Giant Khyber Crystals in order to focus it's power into a giant Lightsaber beam
4. The First Order uses Khyber Crystals as focusing Crystals in their Star Destroyers which greatly increases the firepower of the Turbo Lasers to make up for the fact that the First Order has significantly less Star Destroyers than the Empire.
I'm pretty sure you can kill Superman with telekinesis
all you got to do is concentrate your telekinesis on Superman's body and shrink him until he becomes a meatball, there's nothing he can do about it because he can't move! This is because your holding him with telekinesis
Well I guess your theory is true because nobody is arguing with you about it 😮
Honestly....... that makes sense,
I can't even argue with you about that 🤷
@@johnnygat8192 Too fast and too strong. He can laser them while he feels them trying it. Also his cells are so strong that they'd need more than god level power to do that. The Force wouldn't bother him. It's just a light gust of wind
darkseid, brainiac, dominus, manchester black, blanque, maxima and many others have telekinesis way more impressive than any force wielder but none of them have ever succeded at defeating superman in battle.
( Unless you're capable of teleportation)
and about the laser I'm pretty sure you can stop the laser before reaching you with the telekinesis
"Somehow, Palpatine returned."

Incredible breakdown! Loved all the science! Definitely subscribing for more of this!

8:37 is a brilhant moment. It really does increase the credibility of your education in kyper crystals when you look at them through a mini telescope.
