This video is exactly what I’m looking for!! We just received the same Zwilling vacuum storage bags and boxes as 20-year anniversary’s gift from hubby’s generous company. I also bought the ground turkey from Costco and plan to portion and prep my future dinners. 😅 Thanks for your tips!!
This is exactly what I've been looking for. A smart video explaining the process. Honestly, I planned on grinding a lot of chicken breast that I bought from Costco but when they run out, I'll give thighs a try. Thanks
Much easier & less time consuming to just invest in a meat grinder! Well worth it & will speed things up 10x + the consistency will be better than a food processor.
I cut up chicken breast on sale in about 1-inch chunks, flash-freeze, and mince the cut-up frozen chunks using a Vita-mix blender with the processor pitcher. Then spread out what was grounded up on a flat tray separated and then store it for future use. I found that it's quite easier for me to make ground chicken that way. Because I blend while the meat is frozen, the grounded pieces won't freeze together as much. The crumble is easier to separate.
Thanks so much for this video -- never ever thought to do this. I filled three plastic bags and stored them in the freezer. Plan to use later next week for chicken tacos, chicken chili, and grilled teriyaki chicken burgers.
could you show us more meal preps that call for chicken or low cost food? maybe something that comes out to like $1-3/meal. i loved the buffalo chicken, potato wedges, and broccoli
That's funny, I started grounding my own chicken thighs after watching your "Meal Prep Lo Mein" video where you stated that it's what you prefer, but can't find ground chicken in stores.
yeah. here it already fails at 'boneless thicken thighs' because no shop sells them here. the thighs are already expensive, then they want me to pay for the weight of the bone too. one in a million chance a store has them once in a blue moon when the stars align. which is a major issue because tons of asian recipes i know ask for those because of the good fat/protein ratio.
Good video. I will offer that 4% fat, as you pointed out, doesn't mean 4% fat per serving. 4.5 grams of fat in one serving is 40.5 calories, or 31.15% fat calories per serving.
I poach my chicken first before I put it in a food processor just because they tell you not to even wash chicken anymore because you might spread salmonella. It only takes about 18 minutes if you want you can shorten it up and not have it quite as well done . Then put it in the refrigerator and when it's firm put it in a food processor You can pretty much do anything you can with Fresh ground chicken. If you think about it the chicken in your frozen dinners are is already cooked. I even throw frozen chicken breast in a pot of water bring it to a boil turn it down to the simmer and let it simmer for about 15 minutes covered
Out of curiousity, do you know why those chicken thighs seem so much more macro friendly than any others I can find? The leanest I can find seems to be somewhere around 90-92% lean which isn't nearly as great as yours. No costcos near me unfortunately so not an option to just show there.
Genuine question, if I put boneless chicken thighs in the food processor without cutting them into smaller pieces, will it cut them into smaller pieces to some extent? I just want to to save time cutting my chicken thighs into smaller pieces
@@TheMealPrepManual Thank you, I'll prob have to go to the store near me, I just looked at Costco's website and they don't seem to be listed there. ....Never bought a membership to Costco, I may have to check it out, been looking to optimize my meal prepping for time & cost effectiveness.

I wish. Unfortunately I don’t have the space for a grinder or kitchen aid with the grinder attachment right now so have to make do with what I got
@@TheMealPrepManual not to mention the cleaning requirements takes away most of the time saving unless youre doing big batches.
Unless you're making burgers probably not a huge difference
Blender as a food processor ok?
Huuuuge value from this channel. Thank you!

Oh wow that is a really good idea
Does flash freeze mean putting in freezer? for how long 5 mins 10mins? thx
You are soooo my best friend in my mind 😂😂😂. You get me!!! Thanks for the tips!

Very satisfying seeing those stacks of vacuum sealed meat.

Next Sundays video is dedicated to that 👍
Funny enough, I just got a food processor in a sale. Gonna try this out, thanks Josh!
I love your channel bro. Please keep making vids
thank you for your support 😎

You can also throw your food processor blade in the freezer beforehand for improved grinding.
I thought all chicken are ground chicken...
They fly sometimes

that looks so clean
Lookin forward to those taco bowls

I started using lean turkey mince as a replacement, does the job but i'm gonna give this a go
SUPER COOL, THANK YOU
Thank you sm🔥🔥 I’m making chicken patties
If you make a meat paste then you're halfway to making Mcdonalds nuggets.
you can put some beef bullion to marinade in prior to grinding so it tastes like steak
We can buy it here easily in the UK but its expensive, I am going to try this one out now.
Could you use a ninja blender? I have a small food processor that would take many many times through to get the same yield

Hey, awesome video. What do you do with the used bags?
I wash them out and reuse them 👍
Great video
Solid video
Hey Josh,
It seems like your website isn't hyperlinking in the description.
My meat came out pretty paste like.. maybe I left it in for too long..? How much time did you leave it in there for

Not sure really. This is just what I’ve always used and it’s what the label says so that’s what I go with 🤷♂️
Costco!! The leanest thighs you’ll find in a 6 pack
Great video - thank you! Are you using the medium or large Fresh & Save bags here? Thanks 😊
these are the medium
Thank you!
My supermarket actually has ground chicken. Never in life have I bought it. I guess when these meals come out, I'd have to.
Genuine question, if I put boneless chicken thighs in the food processor without cutting them into smaller pieces, will it cut them into smaller pieces to some extent? I just want to to save time cutting my chicken thighs into smaller pieces
Yes probably but you might end up with more of a paste if you try and process it fully. The smaller pieces help it chop a bit more evenly
Please share the link of the plastic bags! Thank you.
Maybe a dumb question but are these vacuum seal bags reusable? Was thinking how would you go about washing them
Yes. I either use hot soapy water or put them in the dishwasher
Omg they're dishwasher safe?? Now I'm interested
Any idea whether you could do this with a blender? Just not sure whether I can invest in a food processor.
No the blender won’t work. The blade isn’t big enough
cant wait for the taco bowls
Do you reuse those bags after ?
Yup. Wash them out and they are reusable.
I just find the organization of all this, beautiful. Does anyone feel the same?
Nice
about how long do you let it defrost in the fridge, like you fridge it in the morning and its good to go after work?
How the heck did he get Alexander Skarsgård to narrate these videos? Amazing.
haha you're not the first person to say that
What is the name of the vacuum sealer you use? ❤

Doesn't look like Costco offers these bags anymore.... Any ideas on good deals for boneless chicken thighs?
They still have the big packs where I’m at, They were probably just out of stock

how do you clean the Food Processor ? Mine always has meat stains left
I put it in the dishwasher
Are those bags from Costco frozen?
No they are from Zwilling
can it be done with just a knife? for small amounght like 1 pound
Yes it will just take a while
well, unfortunatly nobody here is selling me boneless chicken tights
Can you please do healthy tasty pizza ! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
How do these bags cleanup with ground chicken?
I turn them inside out and put them in the dishwasher or just use hot soapy water
can i ground the chicken with the skin on?
im about to do it right now. will follow up
@@nmpoy aww thanks!!!
2 lbs of ground turkey and 1 can of manwich or package sloppy joe.....Inflation busted!!!
Should have watched this before i started making the chicken meatballs. Note: this does not work with something like the Tefal hand food processor.
Isn’t chicken thighs less healthy because more cholesterol? Is chicken breast really that bad
I'm not a lipid scientist so i can't answer that
I wish I knew this years ago my kids were so picky they didn't want any dark meat only white meat 😔
I wouldn't reuse those bags after meat has been inside. Too hard to clean and sanitize.
Hot soapy water or the dishwasher does the trick. I’m still alive
