- Food costs are as high as they've ever been in my life right now. Meal prep can help fight this. Cooking your meals at home instead of eating out is probably the number one way people can save on personal food cost. You can take it a step further and meal prep cheap foods to save even more money. This day I meal prepped 16 meals for $30.63 which I thought was outstanding. Here are the recipes I used:

On my website there are hundreds of meal prep, snack, and macro friendly dessert recipes that I have developed over the years. There are no targeted ads, no pointless life stories and endless scrolling to get to the ingredient list, just the recipes. I have a subscription based model where Gold Members have access to every recipe on the site, which is under $5/month with annual memberships. If that's not your thing, there is also a Silver level membership that is free for life, still ad free, and you get access to more than 40% of the recipes. Registering to become a member, whether that is a Gold or Silver (free) member, is the best way you can help support what I do. I appreciate all of you more than you know 😎

You’re honestly the first meal prep channel I’ve seen who *actually* seasons their food.
Haha thank you. It’s funny you say this because one of the most common troll comments I get is that my food is bland haha
ikr everyone just adds salt and pepper and calls it a day
*GORDON RAMSAY INTENSIFIES*
Salt is king! But for those who have blood pressure problems it is best to use it sparingly.
@@rem45acp For those with blood pressure problems, it's best to eat more bananas/supplement with potassium.
Hey Josh - The industry I work in requires around 80-90 hour work weeks and many people I know have either gained obscene amounts of weight, or lost obscene amounts. Your channel has been the only reason I am able to maintain my work weeks along with my gym progress and goals. Appreciate your help tremendously and looking forward to you hitting a million subscribers these next few months. Cheers!
I’m so glad to hear that, thank you for your support 😎
Good luck Larry. Sounds like one hell of a lifestyle.
bro I did 80-95 work weeks for 8 weeks and was exhausted all the time and relied heavily on take out (which made me gain SO much weight) - major fcking respect for keeping up gym and healthy eating!!
Sounds like you need a union
Time for a new job lol..
This video literally made me reevaluate everything I used to think about meal prep. Cost, taste and prepping breakfasts. Who knew right? You (and Aldi) have literally saved me £95.48 ($115.56) in the past 4 weeks. Over the course of a year that could potentially save me £1241.24 ($1502.28). I'm gobsmacked and so grateful for your information. Thanks from NW UK.
Josh, You are the first dude that does low cal high protein meals that actually look like they taste good. As a foodie that loves fitness there is nothing more that I loathe than watching weight lifters create a cooking channel where they cook everything with Franks and salt. Keep up the good work man!
I know a guy that just eats rice, ground beef and ketchup, it's pathetic
@@itsgryme1081 if he is happy eating that who are you to judge?
Worry about yourself.
@@IAlhiens he's my friend I make fun of him and he laughs, thanks though I'm sure he will appreciate you sticking up for him lol
@@itsgryme1081 should have prefaced with that
Dude, you’re incredible. Your videos have been exactly what I’ve been wanting for years now. Including the calories and prices is so extremely helpful. Ty for your obvious hard work!
Thank you for your support 😎
Hey Josh! Paramedic here. I found your channel while looking for meal prepping ideas. Thank you so much for instructional videos and recipes beyond just the staple bodybuilder ones I’ve seen on TH-cam. Definitely a unique channel, keep up the good work!
I LOVE HOW U SHOW EVERYTHING IN GRAMS NOT ONLY IN CUPS SO WE CAN UNDERSTAND IN EUROPE
Fr
But we have cup measurements in europe too? 🤨
@@DDryTaste yes but its not the same, cups are not the same when they grab like 1cup of rise and one cup of chicen its not the same measure
@@lukastojilkovic9369 But it is. A cup of rice is a volumetric measurement of 236ML and a cup of chicken is also 236ML, albeit a bit weird to measure raw chicken like that. For cubed chicken I can perhaps imagine it.
@@DDryTaste i wanted to say that a cups are not the same when they use smaller one or biger and they say the same cups cups cups and u cant know how much is it in small one and how much is it in biger one. Sry for english but yea i think u get it now.
I’m in the military and don’t have much time to balance work and maintain good calories in the day and come up with recipes, these videos make it so much easier just follow along. Very appreciated and this is the next meal prep I make. Keep up the great work
I'm a 19yr old uni student, recently moved out on my own. And I'm pretty paranoid about spending lol (since it's my first time really having to budget ig). I got my meals down to ~2.50AUD as that was the point where I felt there was a good balance of flavor, variety and cost. I took lots of inspiration from your channel while accounting for what is cheap where I'm from.
So what I'm saying is that this video, especially that excel sheet you showed, is eerily similar to what I'm doing 😂
That’s awesome 😎
Kudos to you mate, I used to be in your situation. If you don't want to eat chicken twice a day, I found canned tuna and eggs are great alternatives at a similar price.
@@generalbaguette4539 Basa fillets are healthier and go further. Too much tuna in your diet is not good for you (heavy metals) nor the tuna.
Whatever you do, vary it and go for seasonal or daily cheaper products. If you use chicken go for the whole carcase. I break it down and it will go into anything up to 8 or more different meals.
I learnt to cook from my mum and years of being a frugal student. It formed lifelong habits.
@@peterbreis5407 Thank you for the information, I learnt to cook on my own and I never knew tuna was so high in mercury. Thankfully I always had a varied diet.
I was using Excel too to track the cost of my meals when I was at uni 12 years ago. Got dinner to around NZ$4.
I'm usually disappointed when I read some article about saving money on meals, and they don't break down the costs in a spreadsheet that shows exactly how much each ingredient is contributing to the total cost. There are some typical results - the meat tends to be the single most expensive ingredient, and breakfast is much cheaper.
This has been the first meal prep video I’ve actually enjoyed watching! Not too over the top and looks doable to non cookers like me! Thanks please keep making them !
I’ve meal planned before and lasted for about 3 months. You’ve simplified the process so much I’m convinced that it just can’t get any easier. Thanks king 👑
You are a freaking G E N I U S!!!!! I just cannot get over the amazing meals that you make that will allow me to stay on my intermittent diet. Dude, you are sooooo amazing and if it weren't for you, I would NEVER be able to plan or stay on this diet. I work 12 hour days most of the time and am in college, so these are a lifesaver.THANK YOU SO MUCH!💕💕
This. is. the. best. meal. prep. video. ever. And I watched a lot. Either they aren't as appetizing to me or not cheap enough (and I'm a student on a budget) or they are not high protein. Love it! Thank you!
the real secret to these dishes is the CHIPOTLES. they are a blast of flavor. cheers!
as a side note, surprised by the lack of black beans, but love this! been making it myself for a while now. i do have my salsa with added habanero peppers instead of jalepenos and i eat brown rice. i also make a chipotle yogurt sauce for toppings. so anyone else reading this, dont be afraid to experiment and spice it up a notch!
can we get more videos like this? i always get overwhelmed when meal prepping, but this helped so much with controlling my times and organizing everything! thank you!
I was reluctant, for many many reasons. But all the info, organization, conciseness and explainability you've spent into this video... this deserves a subscribe, like, notifications, and a hug. Honestly, what wonderful work! I wish you all the success.
I've been making your recipes for a several weeks now and they absolutely slap! This week was the buffalo chicken rice. Absolutely *chef's kiss*, and it's crazy because it feels like it's taken me forever to figure out good food that's filling and isn't too calorie dense. It's inspired me to get back into the kitchen, and I've actually started developing my own cheap, filling, mindful meals for myself and my whole family. I've even gone back and modified some of my old dishes from back in the day as a dedicated home cook, lol. So thank you for the recipes and inspiration!
thank you for the kind words and glad you like everything 😎
My family is wealthy but i love that i showed this video to my dad and he told me a whole story about when he was around my age and how things were hard, while I was prepping the chicken and rice I've seen in ur video, I just love the idea of making the most out of what u got
This is incredibly top tier content. Great work on this, showing the timeline the way you did, and the price breakdown/full service meal planning is fantastically useful.
The price breakdown is particularly useful, since price varies greatly from one location to another.
My husband has loved everything so far. It’s great for taking to work
Glad he enjoys 😎
Finally someone who seasons their food properly! Growing up in Africa I’m used to having everything be well seasoned and flavorful. This meal prep is honestly perfect for me, affordable, low calorie, flavorful and relatively simple.
Blame the British. Invaded half the world looking for spices and then didnt use any.
@@Rhbrehaut to be fair, the imported spices were too expensive for common folk and then WW2 happened where a lot of their current cuisine was shaped by tremendously. and in general, food culture is defined by the common man than the royal elite
i thought in Africa we couldn't afford food, whats going on with u
don't tell pple what we have man
Man, I really appreciate your spreadsheet usage and to-the-gram precision. This is really impressive.
Been subscribed since your protein pancakes video and really happy that your channel is gaining more and more traction! Hands down the most unique/creative meal prep channel that caters to the widest audience. Thanks for all the content
Thank you for your support 😎
I love how real you are ! Most people on TH-cam are way too concerned about people’s reactions and make unrealistic statements. Call us crazy and if someone’s offended then we don’t need that kinda negativity 😆 it’s all just silly fun !
Josh! I’m a former runner and mile-plus swimmer, pushing 60, trying to get back to health after 30 years of arthritis made me sedentary and led to 2 total knee replacements. Your channel is such a help❤️ I’m retired, so we are budget-conscious. I’m no stranger to cooking 👵🏻 🇮🇹, and as I wrestle with optimum nutrition to boost my strange-to-me “old lady” metabolism and get me through hikes & slowly add those laps back to 1750, your recipes have never failed. Thank you for taking the guesswork out of my health and longevity. Grazie!
Josh, you have done it again! As someone who just lost her job and is struggling financially. This video is exactly what I needed! Thank you! Keep up the great work! Also love finally being able to put a face to the name! 😊
It's insane. Now I want to see that people are saying you cannot eat healthy for cheap. It will be a game-changer for a lot of people. Thank you for all of the great recipes you're showing us. We really appreciate it.. Keep going with these awesome and healthy recipes.
When people say, "You can't eat healthy for cheap", what they really mean is, "Subway is expensive and takes longer than McDonald's". Additionally, people don't want to take the time to actually cook the meals themselves. Obtaining healthy meals is super easy, but cooking it requires time and work that others don't want to commit to.
Yes, pizza rolls in the oven only take 20 mins to cook, but you're taking on a shit ton of calories. Yes, thawing, cleaning, cutting, cooking, and seasoning veggies and meat for meal prep is time consuming. In the end, however, it's SO worth it. You only get faster the more you do it and you learn to make a whole variety of foods. Acquiring the patience that is needed to make the healthy meals is so essential.
@@dakunism I couldn't say it better. Totally agree!!!
I think these are great meals, but they aren't complete. Total energy from one serving of each of the three meals gives only ~1400kCal per day. Pretty good for people looking to lose weight, but the average person probably wants to have 50% more calories in a day. An active person might need to consume twice the amount. Give and take, though. I'm a fatty, though, so I'll definitely be trying some of these. I'm always wrecked for the week if I don't do shopping and meal prepping on Sunday.
Where I live this much food would cost me around $70 or so per week. That's not terrible, but it's definitely not cheap.
Game changing. Seriously- this is the best meal prep content I've ever seen
I made your adobo recipe and substituted the rice for riced cauliflower. Delicious! I now have some great new go-to meals. thanks for the recipes!
Your videos are magical. Your no nonsense attitude and laser focus with a dash of humour is truly sublime. I will be making every single dish you post.
I know I'm late to comment (since video released 4 days ago), but just had to appreciate your efforts. Not only in giving us this straight to the point meal prep recipe and info but, also for the time you took to calculate all the pricing. I hope you see this message and know how much I appreciate you!
I fell off on meal prepping and gym but the algorithm gods have blessed me with your videos and the motivation is slowly coming back

I've been meal prepping my lunches for a while, but some of them are a bit bland or have too many ingredients. I just did the Spicy Adobo chicken only from this video and it was pretty damn easy, and delicious. Thanks for the content!
OUTSTANDING Josh...imagine, a young person who can cook, plan, budget, work, etc. Loved every second of your very well done video...your parents must be proud of you. I'm subscribing...
I know you didn’t actually intend this to be done, just showing how cheaply a weeks meals can be prepped- but I did this last week for all three meals. It was amazing. Lost three pounds, had plenty of extra calorie room at the end of the days for an extra snack/dessert.
Gonna do it again this week.
Josh you bloody legend!! Amazing video
I love your channel, going to meal prep all of this today! Thanks, you're helping me learn how to cook and meal prep with flavor 😎🙏
Thank you 🙏
Your channel is only growing and getting better with each video and the information you add is incredibly helpful, your information is not only free for us but it is soemthing people spend 100’s or even 1000’s to get, I am incredibly thankful for your channel as I start my new weight loss journey.
I discovered this channel a couple of days ago, and I must say you have some awesome recipes. Can't wait to try them all!
Thank you 😎
I am about to move out of home for the first time and wanted to learn about meal prepping, your channel and website is going to be a very helpful tool for me moving forward, thank you so much!
You're a lifesaver man, your meals have helped me out so much. So easy to make and so cheap, and not to mention delicious.
Brother you are the undisputed king on meal prep on TH-cam. I've tried other channels recipes, and while they are not bad per se, your recipes and guides are just a step ahead of the rest. Thank you so much for sharing and please keep'em coming! 🐐🐐🐐
That means a lot thank you 😎
I love how flavorful you made everything. Meal plan is a fail if the food doesn’t taste good!!
Very recent collage graduate here. Now that I've gotten more time on my hands I don't wanna eat just garbage food. That AND save some money. This is the PERFECT video for what I'm going to try out. You the man dude! 👍
I'm from Brazil, we are going under heavy inflation right now and I thank you for this, regardless of different values. Gotta get my shit together and this seems like I could adapt to my situation.
Never thought about this oatmeal since we don't normally eat this here. So nutritious and I happen to have a whole pot of peanut butter I'm trying to find new recipes. This will come in handy.
More videos that are budget friendly! 🙏🏼 You are a wizard in meal prepping. Your curry recipe is my go to meal since it is very budget friendly and high in volume. I'll try and make this $30 meal next week. You're a lifesaver my friend 🙇🏻♂️
Awesome content! Well shot and edited. Succinct, simple and informative. Binged most of your channel yesterday and bought a bunch of stuff to prep some meals today. Looking forward to more! Keep it up, man and thanks for the great ideas.
Thank you for your support 😎
These baked oats are the bomb, every single time. (Okay, I didn't like the chocolate/cherry ones but literally every other one has been sublime!) I love big servings of sweet things and it feels both like a treat, filling, and it's something I can have ready for cravings. Lifesaving. Not to mention I figured out how to turn the buffalo chicken rice bowl into a bit of an asian twist(I marinade the chicken thighs in terriyaki amenos(about 75-100 cals), and I add frozen shelled edamame(12 oz) to the veggies and season them with soy sauce. I also cut out the cheese because it doesn't really work with asian flavors but also to help even out the calories.) It has helped me refrain from ordering out and helps me eat more veggies. (If you ever wanna try and make this yourself or make a vid/private recipe on it, feel free!)
I see this channel is growing like crazy, you deserve it man!
You explained the recipe in such a way that even though I am vegetarian . I can make adjustments easily and enjoy these meals. Thank you
This is the 1st meal prep channel that I really like!
Hey I’ve been getting back in shape and your meals have helped me stay on track with macros and calories. Always look forward to new stuff to keep the variety fresh. These look very good. Can’t wait to try them.
i dont think we TRULY grasp how beneficial this channel is to so many people. Definitely has a bright future ahead
Hey Josh, I was just wondering how often you go grocery shopping to cook and eat like this? Do you only go once a week or do you stock up and freeze stuff? I have limited access to a car at college and can only really go every other week. Thanks for the awesome video!
Take a bike? Go by foot? Public transportation?
@@filipito2 it's more of a time thing than anything, I could get there but I can't spend 2 hours or so just on transport
A lot of these you definitely can go once biweekly, or even freeze the raw ingredients for later, or the meal itself.
By far the best meal prep channel out there
I just tried the Ground Chicken (also made that myself) taco bowls and i loved it! Healthy but without the usual lack of taste! Excited to try some more (after i ate this of course). Also a great way to buy normal portions, i usually struggle to make meals for just myself without getting to buy way too much due to the package sizes in the supermarkets. Cheers man!
For the Spicy Adobo Chicken and Peppers. The way I make it is like hamburger helper. I brown the meat and onions with salt and pepper, then I add the veggies and rice. Veggies I use are bell peppers, and tomatoes, then I'll add either chicken broth for chicken or beef broth for ground beef, and the final touches is some more seasonings like oregano, and italian seasoning. After that you just leave the on lid till the water is mostly gone, before it's done I like to add tomato paste for extra flavor.
Life Changing!!! Thank you so much for the display of every item with the price - really helps someone like me who is a single father out!!
You bet 😎
YOOOOO THIS MAN PUT SO MUCH EFFORT IN THIS VIDEO SOOOO MUCH DETAIL IM DEFINITELY SUBBING THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!
just started meal prepping to lose weight and my first week was kind of bland as I made pretty basic meals based off of nothing. I found this channel and am trying these three meals for the next few days and I gotta say I love the spicy adobo chicken one.
I was eating out at work 5 days a week. Sometimes I'd work a 16 hour shift and go out and pay for lunch on both my lunch breaks 3 times a week. I was spending anywhere from $100-$150/week eating and gaining weight like crazy. I decided to make a switch and do more shopping and start to prep some meals and I've lost close to 80lbs using a lot of your recipes over the last 90 days and saved a ton of money. Not sure why I didn't do this sooner.
I recently found your channel and I'm glad you did. This is an awesome video as per usual. Thank you for being so creative and sharing your ideas I love your content.
Thank you for your support 😎
Your channel is getting better and better, really helpful the way you add descriptions on prices and how much grams to add throughout the meals! As a visual learner this is quality content. Keep it up!
With pasta, and rice and beans you could probably get to $0.30 per meal.
what a criminally underrated channel, glad i just found you being a new and young home cook; very realistic prep steps for home chefs compared to most cooking channels/shows now a days, Hope you blow up, its much deserved!
This is amazing. I immediately went out and bought all these ingredients to try this myself. Interestingly enough, here in Australia it came to waaay more. I had most of the staples like the spices, but almost all of the fresh ingredients and the meat I had to buy. From Coles, this came to $75 AUD (which is about $50 USD). I didn't realise the cost of living where I am was so high!
dude fuck coles tbh. getting groceries from chinese and viatnamese sellers will bring down the cost by 15 bucks
So glad I just came across this channel. Meal prepping has been the glue that holds my fitness together. I’m always looking for new recipes

While companies and million/billionairs are tripling their money, we are here making graphics and lists of what we can afford to eat and meal prepping bc of increased food prices. It's so disheartning. We are all going down a path where there's more and more people slowly starving to death.
Companies are increasing prices because their money is worth less. It's a cycle. My dad is the sole owner and employee at his own restaurant and had to increase his prices since the cost of ingredients has increased substantially.
This is the best food prep chanel I've ever come upon. This makes me excited to get back into it more often
I don't know if I've ever commented on a TH-cam video before lol but TMPM is the best and the only meal prep content I've maintained interest in over time. I've been following TMPM practically since the beginning, and have never been let down. Even as my caloric needs and goals have changed with my training, you always come thru with tasty, adaptable, and affordable recipes. Thanks for keeping it quality, practical, efficient, and fun Josh!
as someone who's routinely exhausted lately and trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, this is very inspiring. As others mentioned these are interesting and flavorful ideas, and I appreciate the time and cost measures. Looking forward to trying this more or less exactly for a change of pace. Thanks!
This is insane! I'm going to be moving out in a few months for the first time and need this so much. You're the best :D
How is this channel not blowing up and all over the place, this is better than stuff you pay for... keep it up man
Because most people actually enjoy food. Meal prepping is only suitable for people that don't enjoy food or are too lazy/poor to cook proper meals on a daily basis.
As a truck driver, finding your channel is a godsend.
Subbed
Dude..that's awesome..all of your videos have made a huge impact on my meal prepping and my friend's who I'm training as a personal trainer..Thank you buddy!
Thank you 😎
This is awesome, thank you. I meal prep every week and am always looking for new recipes. Your channel has been great for ideas and I can make easy swaps to meet my own macros.
I’m extremely grateful I came across your channel! I’ve already done several of your recipes, and ideas and it’s been a huge help, for the busy schedule I have. Thanks so much for the content brother man, keep it up man!
This is the greatest channel! Can't even begin to describe how useful this has been to me.
I have been subscribed to you for a month now and being a college student that doesn’t know how to meal prep you are the perfect channel to tune in to. I’ve made breakfasts and dinners from your website but never new what I could do for lunch I’m so glad you included an all day meal prep and would love to see more ideas like this from you in the future.
I just wanna mention that I much prefer my homemade salsa raw (salsa rojas). Mostly the same ingredients but I use vinegar instead of salt (Cilantro, Tomato, Onions, Garlic, Jalapenos, Lime Juice and white vinegar) I also add some tomato paste to thicken (I like quite a bit of lime/vinegar). Roma tomatoes are better than "on the vine" because they aren't as runny and are about the same price.
For prep, instead of the full food processor blending - my processor has a chop function which I use for each individual ingredient and then mix them in a separate bowl by just stirring up all the ingredients after they've been chopped and added. I make a very large bowl of salsa about once a week and find a way to add it to about every meal... of course you can make as little or as much as you want.
Typically veggies are healthiest raw plus there's no oil needed, and I also prefer the raw flavor.
All too often I hear people say that eating fresh and healthy is too expensive and so they turn to buying processed foods & ready meals like frozen pizzas, chips (fries), things like that and say that's the only way you can eat on a budget. The irony is, that over the week, it probably costs significantly more than doing something like this.
I love the fact that you even make you're own jelly & salsa and are sill in around a $30 budget
This all looks amazing, tasty & healthy, and for around $6 a day! How much is a pizza?
Definitely subscribed and will be following.
Love how simple yet straight to to point you made this. It’s humble & that’s a big thumbs up 🫵👍🏻
Thank you 😎
Man I stumbled across your Korean chicken stew recipe and all I can say is wow. Where have you been all my life?? What a kick ass channel. Thank you!
this is the best meal prep channel I have ever experienced. I have already made a few of the recipes from here and they were fabulous.
This has to be one of the most underrated channels on YT.
It's actually insane to me that you did all of this for $30.63. YOU ARE THE MAN JOSH!
best meal prep video ive seen yet, most are overly complicated high in calories and just turn out bland and gross but this looks delicious and actually has some meat in it this is whats gonna make me reach my dream weight
I moved out 2 months ago and this channel literally saved my life. Big thanks dawg
Congrats on approaching 250k subs! I remember watching when you were at 50k and wondering why you haven't blown up. Well deserved!
For Germany shopping at Aldi it costs *22,30 € for the 16 Meals, 1,39 € per serving.* Pretty good!
(62,80 in total to buy all the stuff (inkl. whats more in the packages (except Oil, Salt, etc.))
You can shop everything at Aldi Süd, you just have to go to other stores for the vanilla protein, pektin & Chipotle-Paprika in Adobo-Sauce :)
As a type-1 diabetic who counts carbs, thanks for putting Carb values as well, will definitely try out these recipes. They actually look really good.
Been using variations of your Ground Turkey & Ranch and Chicken recipes to prep my food for the week going a few months now and it's saved loads of money and helped me lose weight. Never thought of making a salsa with an air fryer. Definitely recommend any viewers to subscribe to the MPM club, snack city is life.
ur amazing ily ❤currently struggling with no cooking exp. and no money and this video is a life saver !
Idk know why your channel got recommended to me since I watch mostly film analysis and gaming video but I’m all for it. You just gained a sub bro
your channel is so reliable omfg thank you for keeping it so straightforward every time!!
Thank you 😎
This channel is so dope, I'm starting a new job across the country in the fall and I'm definitely gonna be using your meal prep recipes to stay healthy
Just had one of the Spicy Chicken & Pepper meals which I prepped today, and it was amazing - So much more filling than pre-cooked meals from local shops, and it's so much more nutritious!
Had to substitute chili flakes and smoked paprika for the adobo sauce, but it was still amazing besides that!
Love the efficiency. If someone doesn't like to have rice every day, it can be substituted by pasta or grits. Meat and vegs go with everything.
Sir! Don't stop being you because you are absolutely awesome 😎 I really enjoy and appreciate all your videos and have made over 8 or your meal prep meals all have been great so far.
Dude this is the best! Every step is explained clearly and simply as they're being demonstrated.
I don't like to wash rice. It's a pain, and I prefer how it comes out without washing. Am I leaving something in it that I shouldn't be eating? (I cook it in a sauce pan, not a rice cooker)
