Nope but have now u can have that one what a pain in the ass but that's why they get the big dollar I guess lol I new there was a reason that I don't like glass roofs lol
Hey Arod, when reassembling/installing the new wheel bearing hub, and reusing the old lock hub, should I add some grease to the lock hub? if so, what kind? THANKS!!
Your timing is impeccable. This was published 5 hours ago. Why couldn’t it have been six hours ago, before I changed my hub assembly? I forgot the backing plate too 😂
Thanks again for taking the time to record this procedure, you have saved my ass on a lot of 6.7 diag's , that P0 207f is a DTC that makes for a long day, Hate rust ,but I deal with it daily, I have had good luck removing all the ABS 8mm harness bolts , when I get the harness disconnected from the truck and the brake rotor is still stuck to the w/bearing I just yank them both off as a unit. then I will flip the assembly stud side down onto the hub face ,then you can beat that rotor off with a deadblow or what ever ya got, also you didn't show the fight with that snap ring. Love the new freedom you have now, that other vid you did showing us how you work that scanner on that truck with the dash lit up was awesome . I know what pays the bills though ,looks like you should save the front end work for the grunts like me.
I haven't had to do a wheel bearing on a Super Duty and I don't have a hoist. What I do have is a special exercise machine. At the point where I was about to install the wheel and saw the backing plate sitting on the floor, I would get up and approach said special exercise machine. As I pull on the handle a size 13 boot would swiftly kick me in the backside. After several reps I would then proceed to remove the hub bearing, all the while muttering choice words, and reinstall the backing plate. As Rainman Rays says: I love my job so much I do it twice!
Nice job Arron I saw you missed that backing plate the sec you started installing the bearing. Oh well I’m glad I’m not the only guy that does things twice sometimes. Cheers
Much like the battery cover, they're always forgotten. Great job though, especially with all that rust to deal with. Glad I have a West Texas truck when it comes to this kind of maintenance.
Can’t believe the guy didn’t decide to do both bearings at the same time or switch over to some WARN hubs. This owner needs to use some silicone spray and exercise that hub especially where you are. Hope you are enjoying being your own boss and not having to deal with someone not allowing you to do what needs to be done for the customer. Good for you sir!
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod, glad you caught it before putting it all together! I was shouting at the screen, “Don’t tighten it down! WTF!!” We’ve all gotten ahead of ourselves and had to back up to install that one little piece we forgot. Still, a good video. Some people just don’t use 4WD enough to know that the stock plastic hub knobs are junk until it’s too late.
ARod, I ALWAYS leave those dust shields off ON PURPOSE, when I can. On everything that I’ve ran across they don’t help, but I’ve not worked on everything under the sun either. Mostly just older (think 80’s and back). 😊
I just did the almost the same job today ..4 ball joints ,2 universal joints ,one wheel bearing a manual locker, 2 tie rods and an alignment it was brutal rust is evil lol
Very cool tool. However. No rust here. And my fleet is 2wd. Haven't had an issue with any of them coming out. I am probably going to get one for my side customers that have 4wd just in case though.
Thanks for the video. Thoughts from the arm chair peanut gallery. Why not a slide hammer for pulling the wheel bearing? IMO LocTite would do a good job of sealing the stud threads from corrosion, possibly ever better than the anti-sieze. The funniest part is at 34:25 you picked up the backing plate and put it back down.
Was there something else wrong with the Hub itself? The bearing is replaceable saving the cost of a $300 something hub vs $60 bearing and it comes with all the o rings. Nice job showing the removal they can be stubborn with the rust and that snapon tool saves your sockets and extensions. Nice job.
@PowerstrokeTechTalkwARod Great video, used it to assist me changing out my hub/bearing assy. I have a question for you. The front axle u-joints. Do you have a recommended set? I have tried to look into them but can't really get a handle on what may or may not be recommended above the Ford u-joints. Do you have any preference, Ford or other? Second question is I have tried to find another u-joint out there that has the same dimensions as my Ford (2015 F350 Dually 4WD). If I measured right, the cap to cap dims are 5-inches. The inner groove to inner groove dims appear to be around 3.6 dims. Any assistance is appreciated.
Can you advise if the motorcraft hubs are a little off center on the back at the race. I bought two and the came kind of rummbled up in shipping and I am wondering if I should use them. Almost like the race is pushed in a but further on one side
I had nightmares from the NASTY Rust Belt cancer on that Truck. Florida is calling you. Some of us do it twice to make it nice. The shock of the no clean dealership no lift clouded your mind. We’ve all been there
Are you coming to Rainmans this winter? If you are I would like you to do some work on my 2001 7.3 F350 drw please. Grear video on front hub replacement. We all forget things when reinstalling parts. We are only human. Have a great evening Aaron.
🤔This will be debated till the end of time.😀 Everyone has their own opinion on this subject. I would say yes fill it up, (assuming)it's 'unfiltered' brand new oil from a new bottle\jug, that is better than not having any oil for the first few seconds of start up. I mean there's still an oil coating on everything despite having the oil drained from oilpan, so it's not 100% metal on metal contact that you'd have on 'dry' parts. Oil is designed to stick to the stuff it's lubricating so it'll be in there to some degree coating everything til pump gets its oil flow back. 👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩🗜️⚙️⛓️📏🛢️⛽🚚🚜
Did you ever decide on the brakes you were going to use on yours? I just rememebred I have a full set of Powerstop rotors and pads sitting in the garage waiting for the OEM to finally wear out. They're the Z36s. Let me know if you want to maybe do them when you come to the Carolinas if I haven't already swapped them. It'll be a nice no rust swap. lol
If you guys are complaining about that truck being “rusted,” you don’t know what rust is. Try working on a 20 year old Super Duty that spent its life being a municipal plow truck. That King Ranch truck looked great.
BTW, I was glade to see you use some lube when you put that bearing in. I have seen Ray install so many interference fit steel to steel parts dry that I sent him some Dow Corning Molykote G-n metal assembly paste but have seen him use it. So next time you're down there you have my permission to find it and take it away from him.
Why never seize on a stud thats never supposed to come out again? Id lock that on with at least blue loctite and put the never seize on the hub parts that mate close to other metal parts that you might want to actually come off later.
We need to start a gofundme to get a nice lift for you. I feel bad seeing you have to work on the ground. Someone of your caliber deserves a nice lift.
U do know that most places are geting a $140.00 per hr to work on ur vehicle i would think there's $$ to buy a lift if he wanted to hell i only got 45 per hr back in 19 04 & i had a lift there really not alot of $ I bought my asymmetrical for less than $3,000 off Snap-on but that was years ago but still
Worse then 4geting to put it on you picked it up to look 4 the nuts then just keeped on going thats worse part it would probably get to me worse if i see my self do that in a video lol so did you ever put it back on & i allways use new speed sensor but theres all ways something on them little bolts so they always come off ok well so far any ways never had one brake but good luck god bless
31:48 Hey you forgot the dust shield\vent (backing plate)!😂😂😂 We've all done it before. Sometimes doing the job twice gets better results! Lmao 🤣🤣👍🏻👌🏻🔧🔩🗜️🛠️⚙️⛓️📏📐🛢️⛽🚚🚜🤣🍻
bet ya NEVER seen this one!! th-cam.com/video/ocDlYGVtGcY/w-d-xo.html
Nope, if I have to have the sunroof worked on, w/ the exception of cleaning drains, I'm heading for Michigan! Lol
Nope but have now u can have that one what a pain in the ass but that's why they get the big dollar I guess lol I new there was a reason that I don't like glass roofs lol
But not up to much better
Steering rack in a cavalier 92 after drop the k only way out lol junk!!!
Hey Arod, when reassembling/installing the new wheel bearing hub, and reusing the old lock hub, should I add some grease to the lock hub? if so, what kind? THANKS!!
I liked how you even picked up the backing plate and moved it out of the way! Serious concentration. Hate that rust.
Don’t beat ya self up ARod, in the words of another master tech “I love my job so much I do it twice”
We all have those days👍👍
You even picked it up and continued the install!! We've all been there. Great video
Arod, you make me feel so much better! Even a professional can forget things like backing plates!! Great videos Sir!!
I can't believe he took that new speed sensor off
I just did mine on my 16' KR. Took all of 2 hours for both. So thankful that Texas doesn't have to deal with that rusting from road salts.
Great job! Regardless of the RUST!!
You definitely got it going on ARod!!!
Great work Arod!! Thorough as always!!
LSW Eve!!
I can definitely binge watch your videos!!!!
Your videos are AWESOME!
Thanks!!!
Thanks for the videos my friend.
Your timing is impeccable. This was published 5 hours ago. Why couldn’t it have been six hours ago, before I changed my hub assembly?
I forgot the backing plate too 😂
Get out....!!!! 😭🫡😭🫡😭🫡

A 55 gallon drum of kroil or PB blaster should be your best friend

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
A large syringe of gease to pack some extra into the bearing through the speed sensor hole is a nice extra to help extend the bearing life
Nice job Arron I saw you missed that backing plate the sec you started installing the bearing. Oh well I’m glad I’m not the only guy that does things twice sometimes. Cheers
Busted!!
Thanks for the video very helpful as always.
I'm sorry for laughing when you pointed out your mistake. Great video.
Look at the safety glasses discipline lmao
Yesssir
I do the same thing to pop the bearing except I use a socket on the axel ears/ U-joint 🤙
Great video. Thank you.
Hahah did the same totally forgot about the dust plate lol
Much like the battery cover, they're always forgotten. Great job though, especially with all that rust to deal with. Glad I have a West Texas truck when it comes to this kind of maintenance.

Yeah I did same thing forgot the shield but I did do both sides instead and just one.
I’ve done this job a couple of times on my truck. It helps that I live in Arizona so I don’t have any of that cancer to deal with 😂
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod, glad you caught it before putting it all together! I was shouting at the screen, “Don’t tighten it down! WTF!!”
We’ve all gotten ahead of ourselves and had to back up to install that one little piece we forgot. Still, a good video.
Some people just don’t use 4WD enough to know that the stock plastic hub knobs are junk until it’s too late.
😂😂😂🥴🥴🥴
For installing the new hub, use Assembly Lube or Silicone. Vaseline dries out rubber and plastic !!!
2000 miles on my '23 F-350, so probably don't have to worry about this for a while. But if/when that time comes, doesn't look too complicated.
ARod, I ALWAYS leave those dust shields off ON PURPOSE, when I can. On everything that I’ve ran across they don’t help, but I’ve not worked on everything under the sun either. Mostly just older (think 80’s and back). 😊

You could check Spicer. You joints as far as the dimensions. I couldn't really help you with that. I apologize
Any tips on working on a 450 drw setup? It can be hard to get the hub out with the adapter around it and difficult to remove the rotor.
Yea them are a pain
Can you advise if the motorcraft hubs are a little off center on the back at the race. I bought two and the came kind of rummbled up in shipping and I am wondering if I should use them. Almost like the race is pushed in a but further on one side
If you are replacing the hubs would it be a good idea to replace the u-joints or axel shafts while your in there? Thanks for another great video!
You could yes
I did all ball joints and replaced u-joints on my 2015 with 150k miles.
Off topic but any idea why my 2023 powerstroke won’t spin tire? All my previous ones did
I do not miss living on salt country...
Just wondering at exactly what point is too much rust too much, looked like it hadn’t been off at all 😮😮😮
On the ground??
I have two lifts at the house shop
😎
I've had the backing plate so rusted that I couldn't put it back on. What kind of problems does it create not putting a new one on?
Rotors will be subject to more debris
I had nightmares from the NASTY Rust Belt cancer on that Truck. Florida is calling you. Some of us do it twice to make it nice. The shock of the no clean dealership no lift clouded your mind. We’ve all been there
Love me some king ranch
Oh and some Arod vids
What was funny is you even put hands on it
Great job bud…. I always hate when i forget a step trying to hurry… lol SMH
Would it be easier to use big nasty to get it loose?
Are you coming to Rainmans this winter? If you are I would like you to do some work on my 2001 7.3 F350 drw please.
Grear video on front hub replacement. We all forget things when reinstalling parts. We are only human. Have a great evening Aaron.
Yes!! Hey can you email us?!?!?!?!?
What ended up being the turbo concern?
Ayo AROD! Should we prefill the oil filter on a 6.7 after an oil change or no? Possibly sending unfiltered oil on first crank if so????

Did you ever decide on the brakes you were going to use on yours? I just rememebred I have a full set of Powerstop rotors and pads sitting in the garage waiting for the OEM to finally wear out. They're the Z36s. Let me know if you want to maybe do them when you come to the Carolinas if I haven't already swapped them. It'll be a nice no rust swap. lol

I have z23's and love them so I'm sure you'll love the 36's

Hahahahahha
I'm in Monroe Michigan, how far away is your shop from here?
That hardware looked rough coming off. We missed “ the self awareness” moment. Maybe it wasnt PG.
You need to move to Florida and get away from the rust
Midwest truck?
So you are human! Haha glad to know even the best forget to put a part back on. Such a pisser when that happens!
Should of put no spin hubs in it from dynotrac
Why never seize on a stud thats never supposed to come out again? Id lock that on with at least blue loctite and put the never seize on the hub parts that mate close to other metal parts that you might want to actually come off later.

🤣 😅!
We all made mistakes!
HATE rust!
but its not the same color !!
The wreckage of the Titanic is in better condition than that truck. Jesus Christ is an occasional car wash too much to ask?
A car wash really
Rainman Ray probably would have walked away from all that rust. Man that thing is terrible.
