Hi! Just wanted to say that I bought an M140i Shadow Edition back in July 2018, and am also really happy with it. I love it’s Jekyll and Hyde nature, and that fact that when you’re pushing on, you do have to concentrate and drive it properly around corners, if the weather is inclement. Great fun. 👍🏽
I do like a 135i and 140i. Love the sound of them especially with the new ones not sounding as good 👌
Golf R is a great car. Does everything well. It is a numb numb drive. Get into an M140i and you’ll be put on edge and actually have to think about what you’re doing on the road before planting your foot.

Love the car but those number plate screw holes from original plates really grinds my gears
Rubber Maestro wouldn’t be an issue if he had a confirming reg plate 🤷🏼♂️
Anywhere know where to get plates with spacing as you want. Some plates spell words due to spacings
Plates look perfectly legal.
Agree that a few tweaks make a big difference. Mine has the Reiger diffuser, gloss black M Perform spoiler, black M2 style mirrors and black canards and it looks loads better than stock. Interior wise, my alcantara wheel and M car paddles make the biggest difference. I’ve also added a few M Performance carbon and alcantara parts that help. For me it feels much nicer than stock.
I have had an mk7 gti a mustang gt 2017 and now an m240i; as much as I liked the gti I found out that rear wheel drive coupes with big engines is the way to go, more engaging to drive, there’s something special about letting the rear end go lose.
I rate the 140i than the new 1 Series , Definitely should get the M2 Wing mirrors to suit the grille
My M135i was covered in stone chips because the paint is thin on these cars. I also got really unlucky with a stone being thrown up on the motorway which cracked my windscreen. Lesson learned for the M240, I had the bumper covered in ppf because that takes the brunt and the rest of the car has had the GTechnique treatment. Two years on and the paintwork is pretty much perfect.
Great video and no need to defend the m140i, all the purists understand the choice.. Side note, Month and a half into ownership and the beemer already looks to have enhanced those driving skills 👌
Also with the springs and spacers, how different does it feel? Like can u explain how it was stock and how it feels different now?

when i had a cheaper car i never had any problems at all. the minute i got a more luxury car it was like a magnet for trouble and gave bad drivers something to aim for. hope your enjoying the car though mate!

I've had the same with my car. It was 2 weeks old, and a truck lost stones on the freeway. Result; had to respray front bumper. So annoying

Hi Luke, top car, I'd have definitely pulled the tipper over and got yrs fixed back as new.
PPF beneficial for any car especially metallic and standard kits from £695 compare this to bodyshop prices and will save huge amount money and get higher resale value if look after it.

As a tuning platform this cars are great. But be aware it will be very expensive if you want to transform it in a "1M" oder "M2" like car. You will end up the same price as a M2C. Believe me, BMW knows what they are doing with this car and how to position it on the market. ^^ But if you spend the money you get your own custom 5 door M2. I like mine a lot with mods (KW CS, LSD and more to come).
If it was a tipper truck chances are it's a regular route for that company from a quarry etc, do you remember any details like colour etc?
Luke. What is a motech version. Is that a factory car. Does bmw make the motech version. Or. Is motech a private business that adds bits on after the car co,es out of the deeler_
Are you referring to the tipper cover sheet over the top of the body? If so, even if they are empty, as far as I am aware, those sheets are supposed to be pulled over, enclosing the tipper body. Shame you don't have the truck registration.

I have an Estoril Blue M140i, but it's staying 100% standard.
So many have been tuned and chavved up, that a standard one is soon going to be a rare (and valuable) thing.
A unlimited production model will never be worth something 😂 even full m cars depreciate to 20k

Full M cars always reach a minimum dip in value, and then start to rise rapidly.
Hell, even my old E36 328is is now worth 3 times what I sold it for.

Usually you’d be wrong but in this case, the M140i is the only hot hatch with a 3.0 straight six and the new m140 is moving to 4pot, so it will almost certainly become a modern classic in the future!

Really nice I have the m135i and the only thing I don’t like is how uncomfortable the ride is
I have a very high spec 2015 Mercedes A250, there's been floods in the road a lot recently where people stop and wait and either go round or go through slowly. The other day someone went through so fast while I was waiting, covering my car in dirty muddy water, and my car is absolutely covered in chips, bumper, pillars, windscreen, such a joke, idiots out there!
Well done for ditching the Golf R for the M140i. As an M140i owner myself, I’ve never regretted buying mine. The M140i will go down in history as being the best ever 3 litre 6 cylinder hot hatch. The Golf R however, 2 litre, 4 pot....quite boring really.
It will be the last straight 6 RWD hatch ever in my opinion, everything is getting smaller with more turbos. I’m predicting the 140i to hold money very well compared to the new focus.... sorry I mean the new 1 series

That big chip with small crack starting you should fix ASAP or in a few days you may need a new windshield because too big to fix, and you will not like the $$$$$$$$.

Cann't recommend PPF enough, it's not about how expensive your car is, it's simply about how much you care about your car, old or new.
Like you I own a M140i, but Black, the worst colour to keep clean but the best colour when clean, I had PPF applied to the front end and already it’s saved me several stone chips. The reel beauty with alot of PPF's nowadays is they self heel, anything minor, a jug of hot water will do the trick, seriously worth every penny to keep your pride ad joy looking it’s best

Test drove one last weekend, The new M135i is a far nicer car though and xDrive! 👌
i feel your pain regarding the shrapnel damage... i had a similar experience , driving up behind a truck on the motorway with no taupoulin / cover over it, hence a stone flew off and put massive chip in my windscreen! bastards ! just cover your shit !!!

What’s the fuel consumption compared to the GOLF R?
I drive a 2019 Cupra and my mate has a 2019 m140i, we both pretty much average the same fuel consumption

Rear wheel drive is always best, apart from in the snow then you're pretty much screwed. Knocking traction control off helps though.
One thing i'm not a fan of with your car is the screen, it's not the bigger one. Any particular reason why you didn't get one with it?

Certain options take this car and the m240i over the £40k tax bracket. Extra £300 a year. Also it’s not the reason why these cars are bought. I have the m240i without the pro nav. You just don’t need it

Most youtubers don't go into details about price which I understand, it's a bit personal. I've just had a look on auto trader and the cheapest 2019 is £23700 with 13k miles on it, there's 2 for £24k with 4k and 5k miles, a red one and blue one, which is cheaper than I thought tbh, depreciation is great for us isn't it👍

Now a 140i ..it was a bit blunt for you to say that you don't think its an expensive car and might be a bit cheeky to those who might find it tricky to save or finance £35,000 + car, Especially if it's new ! Also would be a good thing to know how much the tax is.. some back ground as to how you got the car would be interesting to some other young folk. Your either very well off or have a very well paid job. Ian Pettifer VED is about £140 a year for the later cars. No one paid £35k for one due to the finance deals / incentives....depending on options most were around £30k with people trying to avoid the luxury tax for the first five years. £10k off list was pretty much the norm.
Insurance does seem to be on the up though, even for standard cars.

4.6s is 0-62kph. 0-60mph is 4.3 to 4.4, depending upon who's driving
You shouldnt need to explain yourself. The 140 is in a class above the golf R, despite what fanboys say. Its so much more engaging and fun to drive - it doesnt mean the R isnt still a good car.

richboy900 disagree. Sleepers are cars that don’t have anything obvious about it. 4 exhaust pipes. Big rims. Some sort of sporty kit etc is a give away. The brand alone to a non car person will assume it’s fast because most of the time knob drivers are in an Audi. Mercedes, VW or bmw. And most of the time that statement is true. My cousin drives like he’s in a rs3 quite often in a Mercedes 180d. It’s 10s 0-60. Not quick. But for a brief period it may look fast to a regular car owner seeing it’s a Mercedes which are generally a big expensive brand so it’s assumed “fast”.
The seat cupra or 308 gti as modern day cars are best sleepers because they are quite understated.

Great video, maybe you regret not buying sooner, no need to "justify" the M140 it's the best hot hatch out there, it is the more close thing to a true sports cars, superb engine, RWD, long bonnet and some decent practicality, we will miss the previous 1 series

Adam DINAN or AC surely. To be fair I’m a VAG guy, so more knowledgeable on the APR and Revo front etc. I’d have thought Litchfield were Nissan only but does appear according to their website they tune BMs also. So apologies

They also do Fords and Subarus and likely many other brands.

I had my 3 door m140i 3 weeks before a kind chap decided he was going to try and evade capture by the police by driving his old megane the wrong way down a 3 lane bypass clipping my rear drivers side quarter panal.....expensive repair 🤮😟😖

This may be a fast car. It is a BMW, but although I am not a Golf R fan your Golf R was far better.
