Making a Compost Toilet For My Off-grid Cabin

- In this video I show how I built an outhouse and a compost toilet (with urine diverter) for my off-grid guest cabin by using reclaimed materials and sustainable building methods like burnt wood. I also show and talk about how the toilet works in terms of composting the manure.

Don't use toilet paper newspaper is much better. Particularly if you can get a picture of your favourite politician.
Haha, thanks! But newspaper contains ink and I don’t want that in my garden😊

Nice. The toilet seat could be a bit closer to the edge? It seems quite further in the back. Might not be too comfortable for short legged people 😅

Det kunne det teknisk set godt. Men jeg vælger én der beskytter mod regn, så evt colibakterier ikke siver ned til grundvandet😊

I er bestemt ikke glemt - og jeg er meget glad for at du stadig følger med! Men det er fordi, jeg ikke lige kan finde ud af, hvordan jeg får det slået til. Måske man ikke kan, og så må jeg finde ud af at skrive dem ind manuelt. Det er nok lige en aftens ekstra arbejde oven i en forvejen tidskrævende produktion, men det er jo ikke umuligt (da folk også efterspørger engelske. Undertekster)! Jeg vil helt sikkert gøre, hvad jeg kan😊

Nasty design. Dirty and work-intensive. Urin-separaration is bad that way. Too much to touch. ...
What would be a better design you think? And how can it be work-intensive to empty a bucket??
@@andersboisentinyhouse i would never use a bucket. Better take the time and get a big hole done below. A well done container does urin-separation at its bottom. Give rats no chance. No shit to see and touch. Normal dual use for all kind of people. Only difference: sawdust not water on top

@@ErnestoSun Thanks for the advice! And it sounds like a good solution. But unfortunately we cannot legally dig a hole in the ground because of the risk of polluting ground water. And I really am in no contact with the stuff in the bucket when I empty it. It’s really pretty easy👌
