My family drove through the skyway of Chicago once when I was in middle school. This bring back so many great memories for me and we got to visit the Shedd aquarium and drove around Lake Shore Drive as well. Visiting the Chicago O hare airport was also the best part of that trip.

On the left side of the Indiana Toll Road is the South Shore Limited rail system with service from Downtown Chicago to South Bend International Airport
Oh yeah. That construction coming from Indiana was even worse. I actually cut a lot of footage from the video where I was just sitting at a standstill in that area.
The Dan Ryan (minus the Express Lanes and rail line) visually reminds me of the Katy Fwy or South Fwy near downtown Houston. Flat typography, below grade, high mast lighting, and continuously reinforced concrete.

It is called St. Mary of the Angels (not to be confused with the former Our Lady of the Angels, site of the deadliest school fire in US history).

Its the most congested city in North America, and the second most congested in the world. Rush hour starts at 4am and ends around 8-9pm. On weekends it goes up until 12am. I work graveyard shift to aviod the heaviest traffic. Btw he lucked out and caught Chicago on a good day with *_light_* traffic. On a scale of 1-10 this is a around a 3 in traffic. It gets much much worse

Which is why, unless I need to go into Chicago, I use I-39. The Chicago Orange Cone Way was disappointing; went on the Dan Ryan just to get to old Comiskey Park, and managed to get out of town without damage or gunshot holes. And you get to pay for much of this privilege, too!

It needs to be widened but that would be impossible. I agree with you. If they could sign it as an auxiliary state route and move the Interstate 90 designation to the Borman/Bishop Ford it would make much more sense. I guarantee that it is not up to current interstate standards.

The saddest part to me wasn't the construction but seeing the Express Lanes Closed sign once you got north of what was the Circle Interchange.
When you get to the bridge, you can pretty much see Chicago from afar

It needs to be widened but that would be impossible. I agree with you. If they could sign it as an auxiliary state route and move the Interstate 90 designation to the Borman/Bishop Ford it would make much more sense. I guarantee that it is not up to current interstate standards.

Right now Chicago looks like a big bustling mega city, similar to New York. Meanwhile Dallas looks like a suburbs. So that's that.

TX is literally stealing corporations from CA and IL due to lower taxes, business-friendly policies, and central location in North America. Also, some people prefer summer heat over the brutal cold.
