    I am from Sweden and I was there last year as part of a 2,5 month trip around the country! The last 10 days of my trip I visited the windy city Chicago! I swear this was the best trip I´ve ever made and quite honestly I am getting a bit emotional when I am writing this! Love Chicago and I love USA! The day when I left however was a sad day and I hope I can make it back there within a year or so!❤

    Chicago is the best to me, from world-class museums and award-winning food and drink to a thriving live music scene, soaring architecture, and miles of waterways and green space, Chicago is a veritable playground to the culturalist. With so much to see and do, planning an itinerary can overwhelm tourists and longtime residents alike

      The United States has many problems, but most of them lack clear solutions, so they remain unresolved problems.

    • @J_parker
      @J_parker ปีที่แล้ว +7

      However, one major problem that has a clear solution, in my opinion, is the US tax code. Please note that this is not a general complaint against US taxes, on the contrary, I personally believe that as a US citizen, we get a lot of benefits from the taxes we pay and that the IRS does a pretty good job of keeping everything in order, but it's a rail against overly complex, convoluted, and insanely inconsistent laws regarding how taxes are calculated that are so riddled with loopholes and free passes that they've become a pervasive injustice to ordinary Americans.

    • @Smith.ash2
      @Smith.ash2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The solution: throw out the tax code and restart with a much more simplified (but not necessarily different) tax system, mainly by eliminating most of the exemptions and exceptions that benefit very, very few. (In fact, while I'm no expert, I would estimate that 99% of the existing tax code does not benefit the 95% of taxpaying US citizens.)

    I just came back from Chicago. This was my first time visiting. It is truly impressive how clean and walkable the city is. There are a lot of green spaces, parks, and people walking in groups. Cleaner than Atlanta, GA, for sure. The traffic is rough on the highways, and you have to he watchful of pedestrians walking. Lastly, there is a lot of good food to go around.

Chicago is a lot more walkable, and most of the things you'll want to see are close together downtown, while others are a short bus or train ride away. Get a 3 day or 5 day Ventra pass when you're at the airport. And stay off Lower Wacker Drive, please.

      @@wulver810 MARTA has only two lines, that connect downtown. It's the best way to travel to and from the airport and the stations are beautiful. But the city sprawls so much and has such low population density that it's hard to see how the new light rail will do a lot of good. Hopefully, the population will organize around it over time. Atlanta is very beautiful nevertheless and has a very relaxed atmosphere.

Chicago lives up to its reputation of being the windy city with gusts which you can lean into if not get carried away. Outside of the cold months it's definitely a beautiful city with a lot of green spaces but also enough of concrete to give competition to the big Apple as far as construction goes. As someone who’s from and even currently lives in the south side, I honestly must say the south side is not that bad. Bronzeville is actually thEE 2nd most historic African American neighborhood in the country after Harlem in New York. Chicago has the best food, and some of the most gorgeous architectural homes in the city. Englewood actually was at one time the busiest place in Chicago outside of the loop. The SEARS corporation had its flagship store in englewood right on 63rd and Halsted (I believe it was halsted). People should honestly come to the south side, it’s not that bad as the media portrays. There are areas that aren’t the best but it’s not the most dangerous place in America, trust me. What can happen on the south side can happen anywhere in America and the world. Besides that, I think this guy did a great job showing the city, This is world class city, a welcoming city. Come visit and don’t be scared.

      I've been saying that for years. The South Side is not as bad as some try to make it out to be. Yes, there are parts of the South Side that are bad, but the whole South Side is not bad. There are parts of the South Side that are indeed beautiful; Hyde Park, Kenwood, Beverly, Mount Greenwood, Pill Hill, west Morgan Park, and small sections like Jeffrey Manor and west Chatham. Not to mention the South Side is home to one of the top universities on the globe, the University of Chicago. That school gets ranked with the likes of Oxford, Yale, Princeton, and Harvard. The problem is when something bad happens on the South Side, the media simply says it happened on "the South Side". That means they're connecting the South Side with something negative and over time that gives people an inaccurate portrayal of the entire South Side.

    I visited Chicago in 1991, and have always wanted to get back there. I loved it then. Such a beautiful and interesting city. I started in New York and worked my way west. The difference between the two was stark, maybe even more so back then; it was before Giuliani was mayor of New York and while I really loved it there too, it was not safe and the people whilst not rude, did not go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The people in Chicago though, were warm and friendly and even when I walked into a couple of bad neighbourhoods, I didn't feel like I was in danger or that I needed to get the hell out of there, like I did in New York's Harlem and Spanish Harlem. Am hoping to take my partner to Chicago next year as she has never been. I will definitely this video to get some tips on where to take her!

    Chicago is like my 2nd hometown. I lived in Chicago suburb for 22 years and moved to Colorado. I miss many things in Chicago but not cold and windy winter and hot and muggy summer. Still, Chicago is such a wonderful architectural city that is worth visiting many times.

    Because of the wind, which can make the place really cold in the winter, Chicago has very good air quality. As far as crime, there are some parts of the city you just want to stay out of. It also has many fantastic restaurants, and many great music clubs.

    This is a wonderful video of Chicago! I recommend it to everyone that asks me, "What's Chicago like?" What I like most is that it's a very fair assessment -- both good and the bad. This is in stark contrast to many videos that only hype the best parts of a place and sweep the not-so-good stuff under the rug. I will certainly be watching your other videos. Keep up the great work! And if you ever come back throuh the city, I'd love to meet you in The Ukranian Village for a beer (I live one El stop from there). I'm buying, of course. Na Zdorovie!
