Is the guy at 1:58 _seriously_ telling people to spend money gambling if they're poor? I am continuously amazed, baffled, and appalled by the level of stupidity _grown adults_ are capable of. It does not take a super genius to know how utterly ridiculous that is. It's a basic principal of _any_ business that in order to actually _work,_ let alone work well enough to have the entirety of Las Vegas dedicated to this business, it needs to pull in more money than it spends, and using basic _preschool logic,_ we can see that in order for that to happen, that means for every time a gambler hits the jackpot, so many other gamblers need to loose enough money to cover that plus interest. There is a very good reason they say the house always wins. _Always._

I work retail..and all the problematic customers are older people.
Majority of them can't handle the fact we ask for ID (because it's literally the law), rant about politics, are creepy or attempt to bring up compliments; that are just outdated, and also my least favorite type of customer: explaining how back in their day that prices were so much smaller, and it's downright robbery that a candy bar at a gas station costs almost two dollars; I just work here. I'm not just some magical being that controls the laws of the universe lol.
    .
Edit: Forgot to mention that I once tempted to refuse service once, because an old man yelled at me for saying this statement: "Sir, I have a girlfriend and making the joke I'm flirting with you over scanning your ID to buy alchol is inappropriate..I will sell you the product but for next time; please remember it's the law and my existence despite your rant isn't against the law. And they call me a snowflake.

I want to show 11:47 to my mom; for several years she's been on a spree of "getting rid of old things" because she doesn't want to put my brother and I in that situation. I feel bad for not being interested in many of the old heirlooms, but like. I think the boomers in this post are forgetting how the story behind many of those "nice, beautiful heirlooms" goes something like "my mom got these for free from a gas station promotion, and I thought it was pretty". I wonder how those old boomers would feel if I told them that the only one of my grandparents' old dishes I (a lesbian) really wanted was the tiny teacups that when you hold them up to the light there's a naked woman in the bottom.

My mother is my heirloom. She lives with me now so I can protect her and care for her like the treasure that she is. My fathers ashes (I made them into a necklace) are my heirloom. He lives in my mothers Jewelry box for now.
These peoples “heirlooms” are just receipts of the rampant consumerism of their generation. They feels so attacked by the idea that their children don’t want their trash because they’ve assigned their own value to the amount of “stuff” they’ve collected over the years.
I don’t need my parents old things to express my love for them, I just want them.

To be fair to Clara, I leave a lot of ratings/reviews on locations in my city, so now I constantly get like Google ratings or whatever asking me to write reviews on places I've never been to, but I have passed with my GPS on.
(I train working dogs, so I write reviews on businesses informing others regarding whether or not they welcome companion dogs/service dogs in training, and our city is very pro-animal welfare so I've been rated highly. But that doesn't mean I want to review that restaurant just because I hang out at the dog-friendly hunting supply store next to it.)

14:00 Listen here, Brenda. Just because something is old doesn't mean it's rare or valuable. The pebbles by my driveway are definitely old af, but even a full bucket of 'em is worth a dollar at most. Also, not all investments pan out; bad investments are a thing. Beanie Babies, Theranos, most crypto and NFT projects nowadays... 'Investment' doesn't mean 'worth a lot'. So "She knew that they would be more valuable in the future"? Naw, she knew jack shit. Vintage pottery *used to be* valuable back in the time of horse-drawn carriages, when having such items passed down between generations was a sign of generational wealth. Back then, decorative pottery couldn't be mass-produced and sold by the millions. Details couldn't be printed on by machine. An old ceramic bowl from Sears isn't worth thousands.
With all that said, here's a question for dear old Brenda: If the value is what matters to you, then why are you so hell-bent on ensuring future generations *keep* the old crap instead of *selling* it? The point of having something of value is to convert that value into something else. Cold hard cash for trinkets/baubles, usefulness from tools/clothing. You sell valuable bowls, you wear valuable boots. I wish the definition of 'heirloom' was updated to exclude the random mass-produced crap meemaw bought at Macy's in the 30's. Two generations of separation generally isn't long enough for an ordinary, store-bought item to become sufficiently rare. Heirlooms need actual history to 'em. 'Your great aunt knitted this shawl herself.' 'This was the first necklace your great grandpa bought for your great grandma.' Memories. Connection. Stuff that *really* matters.
Nobody is entitled to the physical and mental space of every single generation after them. Kids and grandkids are under no obligation to hold onto every item you've ever purchased. It's greedy and selfish to demand such.
