Since Triassic was my very first TC mod and I started it long before I was able to create my own models, the animal roster had a very rough beginning. Many compromises had to be made, and later on as I gradually learned the craft for myself, many mistakes were made along the way. Your list reflects this journey well- though there are still a few updates on the way, so that journey is far from over. I still feel overall that Triassic's strongest aspect were the maps, with the animals themselves taking more of a back seat and the weapons even farther behind. While that's something I don't really think can be changed about Triassic without taking away the things that make it what it is, I have learned a lot from that experience and later applied that knowledge to my far superior two mods- Mandibles and Carnivores+. I wonder what a ranking list for those is gonna be like (though since sound effects aren't my forte, Carnivores+ is still far from complete in that regard). As for your #1 pick for Triassic- that was no surprise, ha ha. Postosuchus has already far surpassed the status of mere animal and became a community legend.

As someone who's never gotten to play a Carnivores mod (mainly due to being too busy doing let's plays about yuri visuals novels for my viewers, lol), I'm amazed every time I see something fanmade in Carnivores. This community is so incredible and wonderful, and I absolutely adore it. The fact that I'm part of it makes me feel special, even if I'm among the least-involved. Excellent list, Garrett! Not only did it highlight the dinosaurs objectively and effectively, but it was a great introduction for those of us who've never played Triassic!

Even just the walking animations not quite lining up with the speed of the animal can break emersion for me, especially as the original Carnivores didn't really suffer from bad animation work at all. I feel that Triassic has quite a few creatures with stiff or awkward animations, and there are a few designs I'm not a fan of, but overall I think I can agree with most of your rankings. Great video as always! Also - am I the only one who wasn't aware that Postosuchus is now thought to be a biped? When I discovered that the other day I was so surprised, it's always been a quadruped in everything!

Hey Saurian, I am an absolute fan of your channel. I love all the videos you release! Wanted to share a an Idea with you which is related to carnivores. I am a fan of dinosaurs and Carnivores just like you! But I want to add a little variety to these games. I want to make a primal hunter with savannah animals set on a newly found island. The animals themselves will be different from their African counterparts and will be different to them in size and color. The game will also feature the previous sentient race which on the island which has died out. How is this idea to you?
Even though the new Megasaur is great, it really pains me that it's replacing the previous one. The slim, shrink-wrapped body and face really sell the idea of desperation and lifelessness in this mod, wheras the new one is much more like the canon T-rex. I think the old one is more fitting for the Triassic theme. I wish we could at least keep an equivalent of it in as some other dinosaur. Also I agree there is such a missed opportunity with the gorgonopsid. This animal is a proto-mammal, and if I recall correctly, its skeleton still shared a few characteristics of future reptiles. Many speculate that because it was such an early example of mammals, it may have had a more reptilian outward appearance. This interpretation of the animal, regardless of scientific accuracy, is infinitely more interesting than a brown tiger. They could have made this animal be hairless, maybe even give it scales. You can google search for images of gorgonopsid and find much more weird and interesting designs. It could have been like a giant predatory hairless mole rat, or it could have been like a lizard demon cat for all we know. The fact that in Triassic it uses the most boring interpretation possible is just tragic.

I'll be honest. I preferred Triassic when the creatures were just reskins. Newer ones like Liliensternus, I would have changed the colour (doesn't quite fit the theme of the period, if you ask me).
I have an idea for a new Gojirasaurus kill animation. It grabs the hunter and tears off and eats the the hunter’s head before shaking the rest of the body

No worries, an excellent concern. Yes, I believe gorgonopsids were extinct by the Triassic, but the Carnivores games take place on an alien planet with fictional alien creatures that only resemble their Earth counterparts, so when world-building, the devs usually go by what fits the theme rather than adhering strictly to Earth-based accuracy. There are several other creatures in Carnivores Triassic, like Estemmenosuchus and Megalosaurus, that also weren't around during the Triassic era, but because they fit the theme or story the mod is trying to tell, they're included anyway.

Im sort of new to this stuff but I downloaded this mod and I couldn't find some of the DLC animals in the file (like arizonasaurus).
They should be in a folder inside the main mod folder tilted “DLC”
