  • In this video I compare the Garrett AT Pro to the Minelab Equinox series metal detectors. I simple want to shop what is available on the newer machines vs the older ones.

    I don't like the frequency noise from the Minelab, I bought a Garrett AT Pro 8 years ago and still very happy with it.

      You should always use a detector that is fun to use. No sense using something you hate

    Yes that would be a great video on showing the 2D screen on the Manticore that Recon suggested.

    Great video Andrew with a fair comparison of the old vs new in similar modes.... But the 900 had one arm tied behind it's back had you turned it loose :)

    I never bothered with VDI readings on the AT/pro. I would go by tones, squeaks, chirps and beeps lol. That screen means nothing to me 😉

    That minelab looks way to complicated for me. I had a bounty hunter when i was younger and found lots of great stuff with it. The at pro looks like an updated version of what i had

    Nice video bud!
    I’m thinking about to buy one to bring to Brazil to try my luck in the rivers in the dry season, which one would you recommend for a rookie like me to get the best results in the small size and depth? Sorry about my English and thank you!

    • @RelicsRings
      @RelicsRings  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd recommend the Legend for river hunting, just because it is more affordable and has more coils than the Manticore.

      @@RelicsRings thank you very much for replying, but will I have the same results as minelab or garrett? because I would rather put little bit more money and get a decent gold detector then try to save and miss some potential good score. Thanks again

      @pedrocacaepesca the Garrett isn't waterproof, so if you have the money, you could also consider the Manticore, Equinox 800 or 900. My personal preference would be the Manticore.

    I wrote a comment before about where small lead (birdshot, pellet gun lead and 22 caliber sized lead) registers on the 2d screen. I metal detect for gold nuggets only, and even if Manticore isn't any deeper then previous detectors, but can show a difference on the 2d screen between gold and lead, it would be a huge benefit for us gold detectorist. I have passed on 2 offers of in stock manticore detectors, because I'm not sure it would be beneficial for me yet. If you get a chance and time, if you could test small lead targets mentioned above and get some info on how it registers on the 2d screen even a air test and at maximum depth of each target to see if the 2d is the same for the lead pieces at all ranges, I would be forever grateful. A video isn't necessary, if you could just write back your results, I would trust your judgment. Depending on the results, I can order a Manticore. Thank you and another great video today as well.

    May I ask you how does the AT Max compare to the minelab eq 800? Anything seriously different that makes the other machine clearly a winner or is it about personal preferences and where you use it?

    • @RelicsRings
      @RelicsRings  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've never used the AT max, only the Pro. The Equinox is both deeper and faster than the AT Pro.

    • @jereschr
      @jereschr 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RelicsRings Yeah, well the only thing I know is that AT Max goes deeper than AT pro and works well on saltwater beaches as well as has better gb ergonomics and whatever the guys at Garrett said and demonstrated when compared (at pro to at max). The price tag for Max is like about 100 bucks less than Equinox 800 so 200 to 300 bucks more than AT Pro at least what I've observed here. I can get the Max to detect about 14 in (35cm) maximum somewhat consistently in soil that is not trashy and a little mineralized with the standard coil. Though in trashy places I don't really know which one takes the cake. (Eq or max)
