I’m on a fixed budget so I got a Legend in December. Winter has been deep and long here in Utah. I pre learned the new machine by watching TH-cam videos like yours. In between storms I have gotten out several times. I’m Having great success - second park gold this year yesterday. Also got some fantastic deep relics. Love this machine!!! Thanks for the tests ❤️
Basically did that too, been detecting for years with homemade clones of Whites, and Tesoro detectors the Legend is my first store-bought one, I just wanna get out there and put a coil to the soil lol but winter is just dragging on and on here in snowy Canada lol
dammm these tests are one, Eye openers and two a brain tormenter, I got the legend, but never used it yet as its still winter here, but I was secretly hoping it wouldn't have done as good as it did on the last three targets to justify buying one of those X-terra Pro's lol i know it sounds ridiculous. but the eye opener is showing how Nokta did and still does an amazing job at improving the detectors we hold in our hands, by providing updates. would minelab do that? IDK they probably would hold off and add it to the next year's realize as a sales pitch, Perhaps, Either way, Nokta Changed how metal detector manufacturers do business in a good way for us the consumers, and for that reason, i think i will become a Nokta fanboy by summers end. Cheers on you for doing these tests, much apricated, truly.
Hey Pat, the Multi kings right now have the features to be able to open up a machine to help in many aspects. The Xterra is a very good machine but will not outperform a Nox/Legend/Manticore or Deus 2. For $269 its a great machine with great features and works good on the beach 👍
What you probably don't realize is that this series of videos that you've done is probably going to become The benchmark for years to come on all these detectors on TH-cam. Honestly I'm still extremely impressed with the Xterra pro and what it's able to do for that price with a minimal of settings to adjust. Everything it does is just a little bit better than the simplex. Really crazy.
Thanks Steve! Definitely impressive. 10 years ago that machine would prob be around $1000 compared to what was out that the time. I think the F75 was around $650 and the AT Pro was $550.
I am impressed with the Legend. But as a coin shooter pretty much any detector will do. I know some spots I hunt for parks are old and there is iron in the mix so these test are pretty cool. Really does make me think what I am missing.. Thanks Again Man.
Great series buddy. On my pasture fields have been able to run with iron filter 0, which happy nokta have allowed that option for people that can use it. 👌🏻 that was a great rant video btw 😃 👍🏻
Mike, you said you were in Multi-2 mode on the Legend when doing these tests? That mode is frequency weighted for lower conductors….I get that, but why would the silver dime next to iron produce lower tone/ID’s than a Buffalo nickel in that mode? The 900 in Park 2 mode always ID’s a dime higher than a nickel even though it’s also frequency weighted for lower conductors.🤔. Obviously, the Legend should ID a dime higher in target ID than a nickel when there’s no trash present, right?? Thanks for your efforts on these tests!! 👍🏼👍🏼
NP Dan, its not only the height of the iron but the spacing. Yes i was in Multi 2 in Park and Park 2 on the Equinox. I verified with a few people before attempting and all said M2 would be best overall for unmasking.
Tons of bottle caps where I hunt Does the 900 have anything similar to bottle cap rejection? Researching to get an upgrade from the simplex. Thanks for making great videos. What’s your favorite machine to hunt with?
Hey Jon, it has FE which does the same as bottle cap reject. The 900 and D2 both do good with rusty bottle caps. I like the D2 for woods relic hunting and 900/manticore for field and parks coin hunting.
M2 was the way to go for this test on the Legend but I’m curious to see if you switched to 4khz if you could have hit that troublesome dime. In my testing I get a little better separation but then I lose the gold targets. 😢
If you are testing the Legend on silver you should be in Multi 1 instead of 2. Multi 1 is for high conductors (silver etc), multi 2 is for lower conductors (gold etc).
Hey Mike, i tested these all off camera and Multi 2 is definitely the best for overall separation out of all three. Same principle on the Nox where Park 1 will be better for Silver at depth but Park 2 is the better unmasker.
@@IffySignals Agreed. I would say multi 1 is better for DEEP high conductors since it will favour a lower frequency set. Shallow targets (like this test) are a bit different. Just like M3 is better for modern trash which is foil and aluminum based rather than iron. That's why they have so many modes. Ideally on a good site you should use them all.
here`s an idea . do this test with the Deus 1 . in a high freq setting with one of the white coils . and i`m pretty sure it will smash all of these targets . because when it comes to pure separation , nothing beats the HF coils and mono so far.
Hi Mike , CAPTN DAN has sort of touched on the subject I wanted to ask you about . I do not know for who else I am speaking but I would like to see the same test (if you do the modern trash version ,that as well) but instead of recovery speed I believe it would be interesting to see what frequencies on each machine would be able to hit those targets best (including all single and multi frequencies) As on the Legend you used Muti 2 (I am new to being a Legend owner) I know lower frequencies are better for better conductive and larger targets and higher frequencies are better for smaller lower conductors but what frequency single or multi would give you the best audio and VDI reading on each of your level's targets for each machine? On the ones the Legend and other machines were struggling, are there other frequency that would hit the same test better? I believe it would also tell you the best general frequency on each machine if you were to test that, I am just wondering (for instance) could multi 1 hit the targets better- that multi 2 sucked with? Is multi frequency really better than single? Could a certain single frequency hit certain targets in iron better? It would give one the ability to see the difference of each frequency or cluster of frequencies performance per machine. I know it would be a daunting series of tests but it would open up each detectorist's max knowledge about their machine and it's capability in each frequency but because of it's complexity I would also understand if you do not have the available time to do it.
Thanks, yea that is an interesting view to test. Giving the advantage of having multi frequency I don’t know that I would use just a single because it would impact a wider range. I guess if you were just out looking for silver and picked 5khz or gold and picked 40 that would help.
@@IffySignals If you decide to do a modern trash test run, I have found single 4kHz Park mode to do the best in heavy Al trash. Park M3 almost as good in low minerals but better in higher mineralization. Any co located target that TIDs 35 or higher is worth digging. You can hear the co location by using the Threshold feature & some tight Notching. In Iron trash the Multis do much better because of adjustable IF. First TB around 7. Thanks for your thoughtful testing. This is how we learn to adjust for Field conditions.
What if any difference between the legend macro and the legend ? The one i just got is full carbon fiber and just says Nokta legend not macro on head unit.
Do you think IF 1 St 4 would unmask better than lets say IF 2 St 2 on the Legend? I need to do more tests, from what I saw so far IF 1 St 5 seems to mask iron more than IF 2 St 1, I have difficulties to properly understand and evaluate the intricacies of IF and St, I'm using IF 2 St 1 most of the time but if IF 2 St 3 gives similar nail test results than IF 1 St 4, what would be the difference in real conditions then?
Hey Kobbs, im not exactly sure how the scale works. I tried 2-2 and 1-4 was better at unmasking. In ground this might be two low but i have talked to people who hunt with these same settings and are ok.
@@IffySignals Thanks, I just spent 30mn turning around some rusty nails with the LG24, Field M2, AM, R7, 60t, tone break 7, iron volume 6, they stop to false 1-3 and stop to clip 1-4. With IF2 I also need St 3 and 4 to achieve the same results. The only kind of scale I can think of is lets say IF 1 adjustability ranges between 1 and 10, IF 2 ranges between 5 and 15, IF 3 between 10 and 20, and so on, something like that, that could explain the overlap and why 1-4 could unmask better than 2-2. If so I wonder who would really need a tunability so large and so subtle
It's because 90+% are homes are wood. Every year I drag a magnetic nail sweeper down a 3x30 meter strip on the side of my building. It collects about 200 nails from at or near the surface every time.
@@IffySignals stock park program is 2-tone on legend but legend is not 2-tone in your video.
