Very good video and pretty much spot on for most every point. I love my Nokta Legend and it's a very capable and durable machine. It is a little harder to use but once you setup your custom profiles you basically just go to the one you want and away you go. No questions XP Deus II and Manticore are great machines but you're paying a heck of a lot more for them. @@RelicsRings well, there are certain things about the Deus that make it a good fit for me. Mainly the wireless option. I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal, but it actually is. Good videos and fair comparisons on those machines, I own a Legend for now,it was more affordable to me and has many coils, for the future I would like that Manticore. Thanks for show the aspects.
i have the Garrett Gold AT, it sucks at the beach on the edge of the salt water. For plain sand or anything else its great. I dont dig hits under 30ish so it lets me be picky.
I felt the same way when I got my Legend but after just using it I was not bad at all to figure out. I agree that the screen on my Manticore it much better than Legend but performance is so close on the two that Manticore is certainly not worth $1000 more.
I agree with you about the Legend menu. After you use it for a while, it's not bad to navigate. It's like every other detector, you get used to it after a few days of using it. I still don't like how small everything is, though. I do feel like the Manticore is overpriced, especially with the recent price increase. However, I still prefer it over the Legend for many reasons.
@@RelicsRings I am also seeing a better performance with Manticore over Legend. I just wish it would pair to the $10 ear buds like Legend so I can still wear my sun hat while on the beach.
I’ve got the manticore and love it. But always wasn’t the case. I’m semi new to detecting 3-4 years. I started on nox 800 and really liked the machine but once the manticore came out I wanted the 2D screen. The menu is awesome on manticore but at first I was overwhelmed by all the options. The update has helped with iron falsing but that drove me nuts for awhile. The sound would sound great and then you dig a square nail. Now I almost always know before I dig it. I was going to buy d2 but didn’t like menu or screen so I went with manticore. I’m sure either one would be great for a experienced person
@@RelicsRings There is very little to gain in performance between the Manticore and the 800 to be honest, someone with a lot of experience with the 800 would run rings around someone with the Manticore. The 800 is still one of the best detectors Minelab have ever made..
@martinsmith2984 well just by default anyone that bought an Equinox 800 when first released would have more experience than someone who just got a Manticore. Equinox is a great detector, only time will tell which is better. Having said that I still won't be going back to the 800, I really like the Manticore.
@@RelicsRings I have been detecting 40yrs, used all the top end detectors from all manufactures, in terms of performance the Manticore and Deus 2 are really not so far ahead of the 800 as some people seem to think, only talking about performance as in depth, sensitivity, ability to pull targets from areas other machines struggle..
@@RelicsRings As for the apex it should not be in that line up, and you said the Deus 2 was deeper that the Manticore on the beach its not. Gold prospecting none of that line up would be used by any serious gold prospector, What seems to happen now is people have several detectors they use from time to time so they never get the best out of any of them as there swapping and changing all the time. To really understand how good a machine is it must be used for 100s of hours in different locations with different conditions not half a hour here half an hour there, then back to the other machine, I dont like to have several machines at any one time, I tend to use a machine for several years to really get to know it and get the best out of it. The market is flooded with new machines now and people swap and change every other month then claim this detector is better than that detector when in truth they never take the time with any of them...
Great comparison video I think Deus 2, and Manticore are tops all around. About equal in my opinion for detecting. With all that said I am not a fan of the wire on the Dues in water and it makes a really high end detector look like it came out of the dollar store it’s just ugly and comes off in rough water. The multi plug up charge is not my favorite either I just don’t trust so many plugs. Small control box is not a plus either I like seeing the screen without having to squint and the VDI numbers go away to quickly to bring up and look closer. Both XY and 2D screens are just a tool don’t rely on either 100% but with manticore it’s a tool available on the big screen always without giving up VDI size.
Fantastic video. If i could trouble you with a question. I've been using the equinox 800 for about 4 years and i'm looking to upgrade to either a manticore or a deus 2 , i mainly hunt very trashy beaches with lots of foil , bottle caps , pull tabs and iron nails , which detector would be best for discriminating in those conditions ? Thanks
Either the Deus 2 or Manticore will work in those conditions. The Manticore I feel like is a bit deeper on the beach and the Deus 2 a bit better at separation. It comes down to which is more important to you.
Great wrap up. Shared it with a friend. I've been telling him to get the Legend as he's kind of a tightwad. But he's been using my Nox 800 a lot and thinks he needs a Nox 900. I'm trying to talk him off that ledge lol! For him, new with a warranty, I really think the Legend is his best bet. But for his budget, if he really wants to get a Nox, I think a used 800 would be the way to go over the 900. For one machine, I'm happy with my choice of the Manticore (assuming I can ever get an M8). But, I sure wouldn't mind having a D2 to go with it!
Thanks, Dave. Glad you liked the video. I think I'd have to agree with you on the Legend. Great machine for the money, and once you learn all the menus, it's right on par with the Equinox. At this point , I'm really liking the Manticore/Deus 2 comb. Tough par to beat if it fits in your budget.
I think he used the Minelab more then the Legend. His biggest pet peeve was the menu lol it’s the same menu type as all the rest. Multi menus. Only when you use it does it become easy.
You are right I do use the Minelab more than the Legend, no secret there. And yes the menu becomes second nature the more you use it. It's really not an issue overall for me but for a beginner it can be quit overwhelming trying to figure out the menu if you're not reading the manual.
Excellent video. Very good, unbiased perspectives. Subbed your channel. Nothing more boring to me than 'fan-boys', hypists, coin planters or dullards. Thank you. From Cornwall UK.
@ROTOPERCUTAT there's a number of detectors I'd recommend for a beginner. From Nokta look at the Score and Simplex models. From Minelab look at the X-terra and Vanqush models. You could also consider the Garrett Apex. All of the detectors I've mentioned are under $500.
I have been Metal detecting for over 40 years and I can tell you for a fact that no machine is as good as the site you use it on. Get a great place to detect and you can use a crook handled c-Scope and make great finds.
I've found so many old silvers and coppors with the Apex ...It's been a great machine for me....I found my first 24 k gold ring with that machine.. It rang up like a silver dime high on vdi scale.. I'm wondering what did your gold coin ring up at ?
Nothing Wrong with the Legend menu layout I learned the whole thing in a couple of days. You have to learn how to use equipment no mater what kind it is. The Manuel explains everything. The Legend is the best machine for the dollar in my opinion!!
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Yes everyone should read the manual and in the case of the Legend & Deus 2 for a beginner you need it on your phone for reference when in the field, unless you have a real good memory. Legend has hidden menu options that are not apparent from just scrolling through the menu. Not well laid IMO, but yes it is easy to learn over a few days of use. I also agree the Legend is the best machine for the money.
Tarsacci might be a good alternative. But I never could get used to the tones on it. My personal preference is to just use a pulse induction like the GPX in heavy minerals.
Does the Deus 2 have that external wire that has to be hooked up from coil to pod when submersing it in water? Did they improve the latch so you don’t lose the control pod? I’m guessing these downsides were on the first Deus model.
Yes, Deus 2 requires an external cable running from the coil to the remote in order to submerge it. There is an after market accessory available to hold the remote on better, but I haven't used one myself.
Great gold detector for the money, especially paired with the 5x10 HF coil. Not quit as sensitive as the Equinox series or Manticore, but it's right up there for multi-purpose .metal detectors
It's a very capable machine and one of the best for the money. It's hard to do a deep dive into all the machines without making a 1 hour video. Just tried to keep it informative and not too long.
I use my GPX 6000 for relic hunting and it's very stable. Don't really miss the iron reject either as I'm digging deeper stuff and iron reject doesn't work in the deep stuff over 6" anyway.
I think they're both great detectors. I don't own either anymore, but of I had to choose between the 2 I'd go with the Legend just because it's multi frequency.
900 nox never beat it in a gold fields here in Australia 🇦🇺 price and ya get 5m water proof . menu brilliant. With what ya can do as well with a 6 ins coil on notch no one will beat it.
@RelicsRings interesting... reason I brought that up First Texas has them forsale at that price with Waranty. My F5 is a small chain and small gold ring finding magnet, The Omega 8000 is a stud on Silver, The Simplex+ is just fun to use and I've used it enough to figure the jumpy target ID to nail down quite a few 9 inch finds. The Nokta Impact is just Deep and versatile the Deus one just stupid good in Iron. But in the real world of finds under 6 inches out of the 21 units I own I really find no real world differences from a 1983 Tesor Silver Saber to my Etrac. It's after 6 inches that gets interesting but detectors like my Tesoro Vaquero or modified Cibola hang just as well as my others. One of my sleepers is a dang old Garrett GTI 2500. Recovery speeds and processing speeds on some are better then others. But in the wild comparing targets just depends on my current search setup and coil I'm using at that given time. I just watched a video of the Legend getting beat out by three analog units in a simple iron test that the guy replicated on his actual recorder video dig. He then took the V or horse shoe bent nail placed the coin same way he found it and could get the magical cyclop see all Legend to get it or however he says it very funny sarcasm video but I get where he is coming from with all the marketing hype, even Dilec gets into with Calabash and I think it's a marketing ploy myself. I guess I'll buy one since it's the cheapest of all the Multi-IQ machines and give it a go.
@rickvann3489 I have mineralized dirt, so anything that can get a dime at 6" and give an ID is good. Most of those single frequency machines you mentioned will not hit a 6" dime here. If you don't have mineralized dirt, then I'm sure any of those machines you mentioned will do just fine. I also enjoy waterproof control box, wireless headphones, internal rechargeable batteries, adjustable iron bias, adjustable recovery speed and multi frequency that none of those detectors you mentioned have. The Legend is like having 4 detectors in one. Once you use I for a while. I'm sure you're going to like it.
Forget multi frequency detectors....go with a pulse machine and make finds up to 3 feet...black sand beach of Panama...incredible but true...Whites TDI
Manticore, Deus and Equinox all very expensive and not offering any substantial advantage for the very high price!! The Apex is not good in trashy sites! That's why I bought the Nokta Legend. I got it on sale for $550 U.S. and it's nothing less then fantastic!
I have the Deus 2, Manticore and Nokta as well and I find the Deus2 and Manticore both very good in iron I have been digging on a colonial site recently and both are pulling good targets out of heavy iron. The deus does a great job but I am not a fan of the small control box, the manticore is super deep and it loves hitting the smaller targets, also the 2d display is nice tool but much like XY on the deus I don’t rely on it for anything more than a second point of reference. I’d recommend turning sensitivity down on your Manticore to 22 or lower even and you’ll still find it still very deep and equal to the deus in iron from what I have seen. Both great machines I just prefer the larger control and screen on Manticore.
I like my Minelab Vanquish 440. Accurate readings, multi frequency, light weight, and cheap!
All you need'

I still don't like how small everything is, though. I do feel like the Manticore is overpriced, especially with the recent price increase. However, I still prefer it over the Legend for many reasons.
@@RelicsRings I am also seeing a better performance with Manticore over Legend. I just wish it would pair to the $10 ear buds like Legend so I can still wear my sun hat while on the beach.
Love the at pro when I was detecting their was no vdi an old Garett tr we would here the tones was more then 30 yrs ago you young people have it made
I’ve got the manticore and love it.
Thanks for the comments. Agree with a lot of what you said. Love my Manticore too, won't be going back to the 800 at this point.
100% correct about the awful Legend menu layout
Im new in this field.... loving it ❤
I use multi frequency.you have the option of 5 different frequencies to use individually or multiple frequency.
This was a big help thank you
Great comparison video I think Deus 2, and Manticore are tops all around.
Definitely a lot of drawbacks for the Deus 2 that Manticore doesn't have. Gladbyou like the video, appreciate your comments.
Sweet love the review my manticore amazing looking at a deus 2 for iron trashy small coil instead of the manticore small coil thx
Nice video. Well done.
Thanks
Fantastic video. If i could trouble you with a question. I've been using the equinox 800 for about 4 years and i'm looking to upgrade to either a manticore or a deus 2 , i mainly hunt very trashy beaches with lots of foil , bottle caps , pull tabs and iron nails , which detector would be best for discriminating in those conditions ? Thanks
Either the Deus 2 or Manticore will work in those conditions. The Manticore I feel like is a bit deeper on the beach and the Deus 2 a bit better at separation. It comes down to which is more important to you.
@@RelicsRings thanks
I'm still loving my Minelab Sov GT from 2005.
Any opinions on the Nokta Multi Kruzer for Relic hunting? I can get it brand new for $350 and am seriously considering it. Thanks
I had a multi kruzer a few years back but never really liked the audio on it. But other than that it does fine.
Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. Appreciate the sub
I still love my Fisher CZ-21.
For beggenier what recommend??
@ROTOPERCUTAT there's a number of detectors I'd recommend for a beginner. From Nokta look at the Score and Simplex models. From Minelab look at the X-terra and Vanqush models. You could also consider the Garrett Apex. All of the detectors I've mentioned are under $500.
@RelicsRings thank you!
All good...All will find goodies...good price good value can't beat Minelab xterra pro...Equinox..😊
Great job breaking down all the details. I also agree with your opinion on the legend. I have good eyes and it bothers me also.
Thanks, Yea if they would just change that screen and menu layout. Otherwise it's a great detector.
I have been Metal detecting for over 40 years and I can tell you for a fact that no machine is as good as the site you use it on.
Get a great place to detect and you can use a crook handled c-Scope and make great finds.
Agree
there is loads of coils out for the manticore.coiltek coils in lots of sizes
Ok, send me a link.
Thank y for sharing yr knowledge, very helpful
Great info….Thanks
Great information
I've found so many old silvers and coppors with the Apex ...It's been a great machine for me....I found my first 24 k gold ring with that machine.. It rang up like a silver dime high on vdi scale.. I'm wondering what did your gold coin ring up at ?
Very nice! The gold coin came up at 53 on the Deus 2
Thankyou
You’re welcome 😊
what is better Nokta Legend or XP ORX X35 28CM ???
For a beginner hunting specifically for gold which one would you recommend for the best overall results?
Of the ones in this video, I'd say the Manticore. But if you want a dedicated gold prospecting detector, the gold monster is the easiest to use.
I own deus 2
But hunt in extreme mineral
Do you recommend tarcassi 8000
Tarsacci might be a good alternative. But I never could get used to the tones on it. My personal preference is to just use a pulse induction like the GPX in heavy minerals.
@@RelicsRings I had whites. Tdi and Garret atx
But i couldn’t really trust the disc on them
What did that $1 come in at on the Deus 2. A friend of mine found one with an equinox but sold it.

@@RelicsRings thank you!
Hello man witch one the best for depth please tell me I want only depth for tresure in India
@@NarendraSingh-yx5hk the Legend will work for treasure and is the best value for the money.
😊would like your opinion on the ORX mostly looking for gold
Great gold detector for the money, especially paired with the 5x10 HF coil. Not quit as sensitive as the Equinox series or Manticore, but it's right up there for multi-purpose .metal detectors
Well done thank you. Subscribed.
You didn't cover much information on the Nokta Legend is that machine any good or is it just not capable of what these other machines do?
It's a very capable machine and one of the best for the money. It's hard to do a deep dive into all the machines without making a 1 hour video. Just tried to keep it informative and not too long.
Deus 2 and
for the red dirt gpx 4500 ❤❤❤🎉
6000 not 4500
@@zrbsrbija the 6000 is a fine machine but lacks the stability and iron rejection for the relic hunting I use it for
@@theshankisintact I guess it works for me in Ohio yea the red dirt i see
@@zrbsrbija oh man then I'll need to check it out
I use my GPX 6000 for relic hunting and it's very stable. Don't really miss the iron reject either as I'm digging deeper stuff and iron reject doesn't work in the deep stuff over 6" anyway.
hiiii.who knows what meteal detectors can work in depth of 1.5 or2 meters???????
Et les Quest ? V60 ou V80 ?
How do you feel about the LEGEND or Deus 1
I think they're both great detectors. I don't own either anymore, but of I had to choose between the 2 I'd go with the Legend just because it's multi frequency.
What’s your opinion on the Nox 800?
Great metal detector, used it for years before the Manticore came out.
900 nox never beat it in a gold fields here in Australia 🇦🇺 price and ya get 5m water proof . menu brilliant. With what ya can do as well with a 6 ins coil on notch no one will beat it.
You keep mentioning Manticore iron trace but not Legend's FERRO CHECK.
Too many features on all the machines to cover in a 15 minute video. I didn't say anything about the XY screen on the Deus 2 either.
So the Legend wasn't a first pick for anything.
Best value for your money, hands down.
@RelicsRings would you buy the Legend for $509 or vaule for your money or an F70/ Patriot brand new for $180
@@rickvann3489 Legend
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks

Manticore, Deus and Equinox all very expensive and not offering any substantial advantage for the very high price!! The Apex is not good in trashy sites! That's why I bought the Nokta Legend. I got it on sale for $550 U.S. and it's nothing less then fantastic!
Do you know what the best detector is the one you can afford. Not your $1700 detectors that you’re trying to pedal.
I am a Filipino sir please sponsor me a metal detector I need hre in Philippines
Manticore is not that great it sucks in iron
It does OK in iron with the M8 coil, but I still prefer the Deus 2 in iron.

Can any of these guys make a short fricking video that gets to the point? 2-4 minutes with no repeating. Anything we miss we can watch again.
How do you expect someone to provide a thorough and accurate review on 4 devices in two minutes? This is quite short considering what is covered.
Take a Garrett at pro, always works well.
