We ordered our SE Turbo last spring as well. The review is almost word for word how I feel on our sled. I debated getting the R but am glad I saved the cash. More than enough power with the normal turbo and a tune kit is cheap if I ever change my mind. Anyone who rides with me is always impressed by this sled.
I drive this model at work every day throughout the season. Great workhorse. I use it to patrol backcountry, use it to pull a snow groomer, pull sleds etc. I go through some really tricky terrain, and it never let me down. It will be interesting next winter to see how many portable snowguns it will be able to haul.
Just picked up my 2024 Exp SE Turbo R. Traded in my 2019 Freeride 146. I own a remote lake front camp up in Northern Ontario. We cross 6 lakes to get to our place. Hopefully it helps me catch more Brook Trout :)
Ha, ha…. I have a 2019 900 Ace non turbo…….I need to wear the thing out so I can get the Turbo R! It does what I want. I did take my buddy’s 2022 Yamaha Sidewinder with a stage one tune for a spin on Lobster Lake last week. 125 mph and you really need to hang on while accelerating. Heck, I’m 66 so my racing days are over. My non-turbo did 79.8 gps mph but I certainly don’t want to keep it pegged all day. The Expeditions are amazing sleds. Your wrap really sets your sled apart and very useful mods. Putting the Woody Doolys on next year as well. Most of my friends are running them with good satisfaction. Good video, keep charging!
My '24 900 SE TurboR showed up 2nd week of November. Had it a bit over a month now and going on 300 miles. Still breaking it in. I did hit 110mph on Old Murphy Dome road just north of Fairbanks. I absolutely love this sled. My last one was the Yamaha RX1 4 stroke. Prior to that I had a '96 Mach Z 780 Doo. I got the wrap around bumpers and winch kit, skid plate, extended glove box and extra wide skins. Git a 5 gallon gas caddy and mounted that to the lid of the cargo box for those rides deep into the wilderness. Absolutely love it. Not sore after a hundred mile ride either. The adjustable air suspension is awesome.
I love my 21 SE 900T "Arrest me Red". I've got it all decked out to dual purpose like you. I actually strap a 4 person popup on the left side above the winch and it doesn't interfere with riding. Floor mats slide down between both boxes. 😂 I'm at around 3300 miles for the last 2 seasons while only riding 2 1/2 weeks per year when I come home❤
I have the le model with 150hp, and you are right it's impressive, I put c&a skis on mine and love em, I sacrificed a little topend but I like the adjustable ski loop it has 3 holes you can tip it way up for deep snow and put it way down for cruising the hard pack and lakes, cool video I am seriously considering getting a winch kit for mine,I have gotten mine stuck out in the backcountry and believe me it is not fun!!!!!
Also the only minor gripe I have on mine is the rear passenger seat, you have to keep an eye on the tightness of the passenger handles, I blue loc-tighted mine, I just wish they would make the passenger handles more user friendly and make them so they can rotate up to make getting on as a passenger alot easier, I'm 6 4" and trust me I have blipped the throttle in turbo while getting off/on inadvertently with my thigh, talk about an enlightening experience for me and the passenger!!!! But love it, can't beat it!!!
Thanks for a really detailed and honest review. I ordered the 2024 expedition le 900 turbo. I really debated the R. My brother is a ski-doo mechanic and thought I might be over buying with the R. Although for the younger guys,he said the R has heavy duty engine components to enable the increased horsepower. I currently own a yamaha venture tf and it's decent and very comfortable; especially with the power steering. But I need a wider track for ice fishing and trapper trails. I'm super excited to get this in November 23.
Went mid life crisis on the 24 extreme 9r. It’s coming with all the fruit. I can’t even wait. Def want to mod my utility box with external lighting as you did. Great upgrade. Opted for the bix box hoping to not have to pull a sleigh to ice fish. Tho I have a small towable flip up style. The insulated pop up might just strap up somewhere it being such a long machine.
Great review and been following along with the others. This is my next sled or the older 150hp version. SE is a bargain when you breakdown what you get with it as far as options. Enjoy your videos.
I do like the expe. 850. I do like Lynx Commander better even with "just a 900" without a turbo. Both Commander and Expedition are utility/GT sleds, excellent as such.
I really enjoyed the review very well done simple, and the understandable. I also just bought a 2024 ex 900 ace and find it very comfortable and a lot of power. I am still going to modify the cargo box with tail lights and when I seen your how to vid on installing iam like yup iam going to follow his instructions. Thanks for sharing and educating us well done. Take care😊
Hi, the reason they don't install LED lights is because they don't melt the snow and ice build up .... I installed the add on LED .... best of both world , they are worth it .... great review by the way thanks 👍
lol, snowmobile review. I don’t want to see anymore snowmobiles or ice fishing videos until next January. 😂 Spring is here. Let’s get to open water fishing! Haha
We had a lot of downed expeditions this year, clutches blown, turbos going, and they all had a hard time starting below - 30. I'm hoping it was just a bad year, but I have both the expedition turbo r and the polaris titan. My doo did let me down a few more times, mostly just not being being able to start. But my titan drink fuel and oil and I did blow two belts haha
For what its worth i ride trail and ice fish with a ski doo expedition sport 900 ace. Its about $8k less than this dudes version and it is incredible. Highly recommend.
How does the 900 Turbo R do in the deep snow when the incline is steeper? I live in Western Montana and want something I can go ice fishing with but also take on non-groomed forest service roads to go camping and exploring. I am not wanting to do any crazy steep mountain riding, but may be going up deep snow covered forest service roads that are steeper than a flat field. Thanks for posting the video! It was super informative!
great video 180 horse turbo R is the regular turbo 130 horse, do you know the price difference between the two, and now that you have the R do you still think you would be as happy with the regular turbo ?
We just picked up our new 2024 Expedition SE with 900 ACE NA. Anything I need to do to adjust suspension for 2 up riding on trails? It has air ride suspension.
Neighbor bought one of these and he is pretty disappointed as he spent like $22k OTD and it is too heavy on the utility and not enough on the rideability. He has the R version and my 2022 backcountry XRS 850 destroys it to 100mph or until my sled tops out. Sadly he thought it would be a lot faster and still be able to go ice fishing and haul stuff into his cabin. He is selling his and getting a renegade 900R and putting a hitch and a rear basket on it and I think he will Be way happier
@@mainetroutwhisperer trail ridabikity is awesome compared to what though? To a remegade or or backcountry? It is way to heavy and way to wide in the back. @@xGR1MxREAPERx you might be right. I bought it thinking it’s more of a utility sled. I got it for ice fishing mostly and some trail riding. I was very surprised how well it handled on the trail. Strongest snowmobile ive seen yet! Was able to pull a heavy broken yamaha and a heavy sled load of wood. Up a hill in the melting spring snow.

Fantastic sled, got my LE 24” last year, will never go back to trail sled. It’s a lot of FUN!
Hell ya! Glad you liked it!
I love those sii Alpha LED headlights, they are very bright with a nice colour temperature.
I bought an Expedition Xtreme last spring with the 850 Etec and really love the versatility of the sled!

Great review! Nice to hear your really like the sled. Ordered the 2024 SE turbo for next year.
Right on!
Ordered one based on your recommendation. Couldn’t budget a lot of the options you did but got the turbo r…I can add them later

Thanks for the video. That's a nice machine
Great review!
How many miles do you have now? What’s your longevity opinion?
Be careful getting off the main trail. I know of a few collisions with hidden obstacles in the snow. Not a good time.
Lynx commander or ski doo expedition?
How do you feel about the 2024 that has that green. When I saw your thumbnail I thought was a 2024

Nice mods!
Why. Do. You have your jet sleds if. You dont tow. Them behind your snowmobile
What do you mean? I do occasionally when i bring a bunch of gear, but rather not use it if it don’t need it.
What do the "scratchers" do? Around the 12:00 mark
lubricating your track mostly, I think for the 2 stroke it helps cooling off the sled but im not sure
