      Here’s something about centers in the nba. They’re usually much taller than everyone else, longer arms, they are closer to the basket. They have players throwing it into them down low. Easier for them to score. On defense same thing. No wonder they get more blocks. They’re arms are longer and they are taller. Gives them a better chance. Jordan blocked many tall centers and dunked over them no problem. Jordan was great at everything. That’s why he is mentioned over someone e like Kareem

      Also I remember flat out clearly, Isiah Thomas said in the 90's that Michael Jordan was the BEST Player ever in History of the NBA.
      Then things kept getting bitter and going South between him and Jordan. Then next thing you know, he started saying negative

    Years later and Lebron was still headed for a deep run. Going to be hard to find someone who says he hasn't been the best player in the league during his time in it. Isiah did say one thing that even Lebron haters have to agree with, the athletes today on the floor with and against him are bigger, stronger and faster in about 90% of cases. That does matter.

  • @julezvern
    @julezvern 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Isiah forgot about Kemp, Shaq, Larry Johnson, Spud Webb, Michael Cooper, Drexler, Len Bias, Wilkins, etc. Jordan was not the first. However, he was the first supremely gifted athlete who had flawless fundamentals. There were plenty of other athletes in Jordan's day. What is he talking about????? Listen people: It takes thousands of years for the human body to evolve. People aren't getting bigger, stronger, or faster; Technology, PED's, and supplements have improved sports performance. Try the shoes, for example. Don't you guys think the players of the 60s, 70s, and the 80's would be more efficient in lateral movement if they wore the shoes of today?

    • @simonballister1224
      @simonballister1224 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great points. The scientific knowledge in terms of training, nutrition, and supplementation is largely responsible for the perceived generation of bigger, stronger, and faster. Perhaps the biggest change is simply how the game is played and how teams are built. In Jordan's day, the blueprint was to land a potent center and build around him. The game was played through the post. Today, teams are built guard heavy and the game is played at the 3-Pt stripe. Also, teams are drafting athleticism ahead of skill.

    What Isiah Thomas fails to realize is that he is being used as a pawn by Nick Wright. His rivalry with MJ/Bulls and his pride will never allow him to give MJ full credit, and Nick knows this. By demeaning Michael Jordan's skills as an athlete and player, it only fuels Nick's argument that MJ's era was weak and MJ wasn't that great; thus destroying Isiah's and the Piston's legacy in the process. By demeaning the greatest player ever, one that you had beaten until he finally overcame you; you're only hurting yourself and your peers.

    Thomas hates MJ so don't take anything he says seriously lol. Plus I really disliked when ever he said LeBron was bigger, faster, and stronger than MJ.. LeBron was bigger, faster, and stronger than Kobe but every encounter Kobe would cook him on the offensive end and also play fantastic defense on him. So even if LeBron was bigger and stronger than Kobe he didn't have the edge because Kobe was one of the best perimeter defenders of all time. Jordan was arguably just as good at defending and one could argue that he was a tad stronger than Kobe. He had bigger hands and broader shoulders and also played in a tougher league where LeBron size players were beating on him every night...

    When are people going to learn that stats on a sheet do not define greatness? Yes good stats are nice of course and they somewhat say something about someones game. But Winning, mentality, attitude, fearlessness, taking over when it matters all those things weigh much heavier than stats on a sheet. MJ has all those things over Lebron and it is not even close.

      The only thing you named he have better them LeBron is The fearlessness stop it.. And you can't really say that.. LeBron just makes the right play.. He gets scolded because he's not a shoot first player .. Look how many times Jordan and Kobe forced bad shots and the end of games.. LeBron makes the right at and gets criticized for it.. Like honestly

      Greg Doyle winning mentality, footwork, quickness, scoring, defense, ball handling..
      Not just fearlessness. Michael Jordan just was a greater basketbal player. Lebron is the bigger stronger one with a solid gameplay making the right plays greatness yes. But that does not make him greater than the greatness of MJ.

      Robert Rijks ball handling? Dude you lost.. LeBron have every characteristic you just said but footwork.. And the only reason LeBron didn't win dfpoy is because DH12 had two back to back crazy defensive years when LeBron came in 2nd

      Greg Doyle yes ball handling. Dribble was not that fancy back in the 80s and 90s but Jordan was better in keeping in posession of the ball than Lebron. Also has a lot to do with his footwork. Jordan is better in every category of basketball than lebron. Except for bigger, stronger, facilitate, grabbing the rebound... I did not even mention shooting and the unstoppable fade away shot Jordan had.
      Its simple: Lebron is great! But compared to Michael Jordan he just is not greater.
